Photos of exquisite interiors of apartments or houses, the main decoration of which is decorative fireplace, conquered many hearts of connoisseurs of comfort and beauty. It will not be difficult to create the same interesting art object at home or in the country. Designers have come up with many ways to arrange the original hearth, using inexpensive materials and with minimal skills.

What is a decorative fireplace

A full-fledged hearth with a chimney, a firebox, a real live fire is a luxury that not everyone can afford. The designers suggested that the fireplace imitation would look very advantageous in home interior. Such a decorative object can be not only a simple decoration, but also a functional piece of furniture - a shelf for books, CDs, home photos.

DIY decorative fireplace

Dreaming of a home, you can create an artificial fireplace with your own hands or purchase ready product. Simple decorative solution- an electric false fireplace in the interior, it can be purchased at any store household appliances. An electric fireplace is suitable for rooms requiring additional heating. An eco-fireplace looks interesting, it uses ethyl alcohol with the addition of bioethanol to create an even flame without smoke or soot. The biofireplace in the interior is very popular, not only floor, but also desktop, wall eco-hearths are used.

From drywall

Ready-made bio-, electrical devices, although they look attractive, do not always fit the interior, and are not affordable for everyone. Interesting solution- decorative plasterboard fireplaces. A non-standard fake hearth will allow you to transform the living room without spending a lot of money. Another important advantage: you can decorate the original building in any style, using stone, brick, wood, forging.

First, it is worth preparing a full-size drawing in order to calculate the dimensions of the structure, individual elements. Required, except drywall sheets, metal profiles, self-tapping screws for metal. Step-by-step instructions will help to implement the project:

  1. A frame made of a metal profile is attached to the wall, which will play the role of a supporting element, a frame is made of a profile, self-tapping screws are used.
  2. The frame is sheathed with drywall.
  3. Drywall joints, self-tapping screws are sealed with putty, leveling, surface grinding is performed.
  4. The fireplace is finished with artificial stone, a ceramic plate, it can be decorated with decorative elements made of polyurethane, a decorative grille.

From cardboard

When you want to create an inexpensive but spectacular decoration on the eve of the New Year holidays, a decorative cardboard fireplace will perfectly fulfill this role, especially if you take care of the design: garlands, New Year's boots, candles. Need to prepare:

  • thick cardboard (you can use packaging from household appliances);
  • construction tape;
  • PVA glue;
  • instruments.

Having estimated the dimensions of the future object, having prepared a drawing, you can get to work:

  1. With the help of a sharp clerical knife, adhesive tape, PVA glue, a portal is created from cardboard. It is more difficult to make a corner fireplace. Having accurately measured the angle, you need to calculate the dimensions of the structure so that there are no large gaps between the walls and the top tabletop.
  2. The front part of the decorative fireplace is trimmed with polyurethane moldings, including around the firebox.
  3. When all the details are firmly fixed, the structure is puttied, leveling out all the errors, and polished.
  4. Painting is done with water-based paint.

Styrofoam

If there are materials left from the repair, it is worth trying to make a decorative foam fireplace. You get an inexpensive imitation of a fireplace in an apartment if you do everything right:

  1. Foam sheets are cut with a clerical knife: two parts 60x40 cm in size and two 40x20 cm.
  2. The blanks are glued at a right angle to the joints, lubricated with PVA glue and fixed with wooden toothpicks, tape on the inside.
  3. In front of the frame, a firebox is cut out with a knife.
  4. The frame must be primed, cleaned with fine sandpaper, painted with water-based paint.
  5. The decor is performed with elegant ribbon, finishing paper, polyurethane skirting boards, moldings, decorative elements.

from wood

Durable and functional will be a false fireplace made of wood. An accurate drawing will help to avoid mistakes and waste of material. The frame is made from wooden beam section 40x40 mm, plywood is used for sheathing. With some experience in carpentry, such an object can be made in a few evenings:

  1. The beam is marked out, with the help of self-tapping screws for wood, the foundation of the fireplace is made. Vertical racks are attached to the wall with dowel-nails.
  2. A plywood sheet with a thickness of 0.5-0.7 cm is marked and cut with an electric jigsaw or a hand saw in accordance with the dimensions. Sections are treated with sandpaper.
  3. Plywood is attached to wooden frame self-tapping screws, sheathing the base and the firebox.
  4. The decor of the fireplace is performed using a finishing film, wallpaper, decorative panels, polyurethane baguettes and moldings.

Imitation of fire in the fireplace with your own hands

What is a fireplace without a bewitching flame? You can simulate fire in the fireplace with your own hands different ways. The easiest solution is to install the backlight using a Candle lamp or LED strip. An interesting effect will be obtained if you perform a composition for which you need:

The sequence of work is as follows:

  1. Each branch is wrapped with foil, a layer of glue is applied on top and overlapped with lace.
  2. When the glued branches have dried, the lace sheath is carefully removed by cutting along the branch with a clerical knife. P
  3. In the hearth, stones are laid out in a circle, in the middle of which an LED garland is installed. Openwork branches are placed vertically, at an angle, so that the lower edges rest on the stones, and the upper ones come into contact with each other. You can make the design more durable with glue, adhesive tape.
  4. It remains to connect the garland and admire the flickering lights.

artificial fire for fireplace

There are other ways to portray artificial fire in the fireplace - both expensive and budget. For example, it is not difficult to simulate a fire using a hologram, for which you need to purchase a picture of a flame depicted in a three-dimensional format. Having installed the picture in the firebox, you need to install lighting using halogen or LED lamps. 3D image, skillfully illuminated with flickering light, will enhance the feeling that a living fire is burning

Firewood imitation

Using an LED strip or a garland for illumination, you can lay out a picturesque pyramid of firewood in the firebox, disguising the illumination between them. Online stores sell special artificial firewood for a fireplace made of plastic, ceramics. You just need to connect such elements to the mains, and they will be beautifully illuminated from the inside with built-in light bulbs.

False fireplace with candles

A false fireplace with candles looks cozy in the interior. When arranging it, it is important to remember about fire safety. Laid out in the fireplace insert non-combustible materials, install thick candles. Compositions of candles of different heights look especially advantageous. It's nice to light the lights on winter evenings, their flickering light creates a special atmosphere of warmth and love.

Video: How to make a decorative fireplace with your own hands

Creating a false fireplace is a fascinating activity, even women can implement such a project. The main thing is to study the advice of experts, think over the design well and take care of fire safety if you plan to use live fire. The video will help you understand the basic principles of building a decorative fireplace from different materials.

Oddly enough, but to have a comfortable home is a completely natural desire that is inherent in us. So it turns out that we are ready to spend our energy, money and time to turn our house or apartment into a place where it is pleasant to be and which we are not ashamed to show to others. One of the ways to decorate a room, make it cozy and stylish is a fireplace, which is also a home. How pleasant it is for the whole family to gather around the fire in the house in the evening, chat, drink tea and talk. But, there is one problem: for residents of private houses, such an opportunity is quite real, but it will not work to make a fireplace in an apartment with live fire. If you are a resident high-rise building, do not be discouraged, we have found a solution for you.

In this article we will look at how to make a decorative fireplace with your own hands. This is the so-called false fireplace, which is visually identical to the usual one, only now it can be used in an apartment. You will see not only a photo, but also instructions for making a fireplace with your own hands. It is an irreplaceable decorative element of your apartment.

The concept of a decorative fireplace and its necessity

Everyone knows that the combustion process is accompanied by side effects such as soot, debris and, most importantly, smoke. That's why conventional fireplace can not do without an ash pan and a chimney, which solve all problems. In addition, this design has an impressive weight, which does not allow mounting such a fireplace in an apartment. The floor slab may not withstand. So it turns out that a decorative fireplace is an ideal alternative for those who, in spite of everything, want to have this element in their home. Even without special skills in construction, you can make it yourself.

Note! There are so-called bio-fireplaces that are used for apartments. As a raw material, alcohol or other biological fuel burns inside. In this case, no smoke, dirt, ash, etc. is formed. Only the process of combustion and heat generation takes place. However, the products are quite expensive. But, if you do not mind the money, you can use this alternative.

There are even electric fireplaces on sale that are easy and quick to install. But, not everyone can afford it, in addition, a decorative fireplace with their own hands will be much more original. You put your whole soul into it, so it will be valued differently. This is where your imagination can run wild. With such a decorative element, your neighbors will simply envy.

As you can see in the photo above, it is difficult to distinguish it from the real one. In addition, the design has a number of its advantages:

  1. Low cost, as you only need to spend money on materials.
  2. Simplicity of materials and their availability. Anyone can work with them, without professional skills.
  3. It is possible to change the decor at will at any time. Everything depends on you.
  4. The decoration uses at least inexpensive, but rather original and beautiful materials.
  5. You will receive a full-fledged fireplace, which, although not a replacement for the original, will become a worthy alternative.
  6. Your room will be transformed and become original.

In the end, we want to draw your attention to 3 types or groups of decorative fireplaces that you can create. The first group is authentic fireplaces, which are like two drops of water similar to real ones. It's about about the size, design and design principle. Inside such a fireplace, there may even be a bio-fireplace burner or other fire imitation options. This option is expensive, but it looks perfect.

The second group is conditional fireplaces. They have a protruding portal from the wall. You can decorate such a design as you like, implementing the most extravagant and unusual ideas. The firebox is often filled with candles or firewood.

But the third group is symbolic fireplaces, which are made from a variety of materials. They vaguely resemble a real hearth. Most of the time, they don't really look like him. It gets to the point where it simple wallpaper or an image with decor, just like Papa Carlo's.

What can you make a decorative false fireplace from?

You will be surprised, but there are more than enough materials for work. They are simple, affordable, inexpensive and beautiful. If everything is done correctly, then even the most cheap material will look noble. So, here is a list of materials that you can use for this purpose:

  • drywall;
  • classic bricks;
  • plywood sheets;
  • wood;
  • Styrofoam;
  • polyurethane;
  • and even cardboard.

Note! If you have old furniture, then you can use it. After all, it is a pity to throw it away, but as a fireplace it will be transformed and will last a few more years.

Let's look at how to make decorative fireplaces with your own hands from some of the materials listed above.

Polyurethane fireplace

If you are looking for the lightest and fast method creating a fireplace, then hit the mark. All you need is to purchase a polyurethane fireplace portal. It remains only to choose the style and size that will fit into the room, and the rest is a matter of technique. The body of such a fireplace is lightweight, and installation will not take much time. The photo shows the result you can get.

What is required for work?

That's all. Remained only step-by-step instruction to help you get the job done. In fact, you don’t need to build anything, since you have purchased a ready-made portal, which remains only to be fixed in place against the wall. Dustless work:

Exactly according to this principle, you can make a fireplace out of wood. Only now it should be noted that the wooden portals that are on sale are of great value. However, outwardly everything looks much nobler. Look at the photo, what effect can be achieved if you make an effort.

Plywood fireplace

A pretty good option if the room has some flaw or defect. Some are trying to transform an old radiator. With the help of a decorative plywood fireplace, you can realize this idea.

To begin with, the design should be done on paper. Everyone knows what it is. You need to do some calculations and create the drawing of the fireplace you want to make. Alternatively, you can use a ready-made project from the Internet. Here, for example, one of these options.

Dimensions, design, appearance - all this you can adjust for yourself. Next, a hammer, saw, screwdriver and tape measure are used. The first step is to create the frame of your fireplace. For this purpose, slats or bars made of wood are suitable.

You can connect elements to each other in any way. It is more reliable if these are self-tapping screws. Although nails are fine too. Then it remains to sheathe the frame with plywood. As for the design and appearance of the product, you can adjust it in the process. As an option to make a podium to the portal. Look at the photo, how the frame of the decorative fireplace has changed and has become similar to the finished version.

On the bar back wall you can fix the firebox, which will imitate the hearth. But the surfaces that can be viewed from the outside can be decorated with self-adhesive. Here is one of the design options for a decorative plywood fireplace.

And here is the view of the seat. In order to hide the wall, you can paste inner part the same film.

The advantage of the design is that it is easy to remove, since on this stage it does not adhere to the surface. This allows access to the battery. And for the best effect, you can install stones, pebbles or firewood on the radiator by installing metal mesh.

And as a final nuance, you can make a fireplace grate. Then your design will practically not differ from a natural hearth. You can make it yourself or buy it in the store. Based on copper or aluminum wire. It is easy to bend and shape. In advance, you can draw a lattice on paper or print it out as a guide.

To the most decorative fireplace, you need to fix the wire in four places. And to hide the pipe that goes to the radiator, continue the podium of the fireplace, as shown in the photo.

This is such an original, beautiful, noble and almost natural miracle that can be obtained if you make some effort, ingenuity and allocate time. At home, you can hide any other defect or simply install such a false fireplace.

Note! Exactly according to the same principle, a drywall fireplace is made. Only here it is necessary to sheathe everything with this material. There is nothing complicated, the result is also excellent.

DIY decorative fireplace from furniture

This option can be called the most budgetary, because you already have almost all the materials for work. It remains only to transform it all into an artificial fireplace. Ideally, an old sideboard or wardrobe will do. In addition, stock up on such tools and materials:

  • sheets of plywood;
  • acrylic paint;
  • putty;
  • flight LED;
  • stucco molding, decorative elements, gypsum finishing stone;
  • screwdriver;
  • grinding machine;
  • jigsaw.

We begin to transform a sideboard or wardrobe into a false fireplace.

More effort can be made to complete the design of the fireplace and make it indistinguishable from the real thing. You can stick an LED strip around the perimeter of the firebox inside. Ideally yellow or red, as this is an imitation of a burning flame. At the bottom of the decorative firebox, you can pour shells, sand or pebbles.

That's all, as a result, you have a decorative fireplace that no one else has. It is no worse than a natural fireplace, only there is no fire. Other than that, it's just a perfect decorative element. And the realization that you made it with your own hands will warm you better than any fire.

Do-it-yourself rustic house interior design

In anticipation of the New Year's magic, I want to transform my home, add comfort and festive mood. I remember European Christmas tales and films, where there is always a fireplace with spruce branches and red balls in the interior.

Do you think that installing a decorative hearth on the eve of the gift boom is an unacceptable waste? Then make a fireplace out of boxes. Yes, exactly one of those that should have been thrown away a long time ago, but somehow the hands did not rise.

At the same time, free up the pantry for the new year!

Like any other home craft, making a fireplace starts with planning. This stage may seem superfluous and boring when an idea is already growing in your head and you want to quickly translate it into reality. But it's mandatory. Without the right sketch, the "construction" of the hearth will take a lot of time and effort, and the result can be disappointing.

During the planning phase, do the following:

  • carefully select a place for a decorative element, since it is undesirable to move the finished structure;
  • we determine the style and prevailing colors in the interior: a decorative fireplace should harmoniously fit into the environment, and not stand out with its absurdity;
  • we collect “building” material (any cardboard boxes will do) and choose the appropriate shape and size;
  • we make a drawing of the desired design with detailed indication all sizes;
  • we select a method of decorative finishing and prepare a drawing-sketch of a fireplace in color (very often what we draw in our imagination turns out to be far from ideal, but on paper all the flaws will be immediately visible).

When choosing a decoration method, we advise you to go through a hardware store. If you have not done repairs for a long time, then you will be surprised how many new materials and mixtures have appeared on the market. Perhaps such a walk will lead to original idea painting or coating with a simulant material.

Do not rush to simplify everything as much as possible, because the manufacturing process itself is already quite simple. The decoration of the structure needs to be given enough attention. Otherwise, you will get a craft at the level of a school labor lesson, which you will not deceive or surprise anyone.

What will be required?

The simplest design to manufacture is obtained from a box from a large-screen TV. Small boxes, for example from small household appliances or from under shoes, will need to be glued and redone in size.

Packaging from large household appliances (refrigerators, ovens, dishwashers and washing machines) it is better to disassemble into cardboard sheets and form a box for the fireplace from scratch.

To create a hearth, in addition to cardboard boxes, you may need:

  • a piece of drywall or foam for the mantel;
  • a roll of white paper for pasting;
  • masking tape;
  • stationery tape;
  • Double-sided tape;
  • long ruler, tape measure and pencil;
  • sponge, wide brush and two small ones;
  • scissors and stationery knife;
  • PVA glue (for gluing cardboard);
  • polymer glue (for attaching decor);
  • water emulsion for priming (the background can be white or with the addition of color);
  • acrylic paint for painting parts;
  • finishing materials (liquid wallpaper, putty, plaster, varnishes);
  • decorative elements(New Year's decor, ceiling plinth, decorative stucco molding, colored paper, etc.).

This list is not a dogma. It can be changed and replenished depending on the specific project. Make your list and prepare all the materials and tools on it in advance so that you don’t get distracted or annoyed during creativity.

Get inspired: the best ideas

If you are serious about making a fireplace out of boxes or sheets of cardboard with your own hands, then the ideas we have selected will help you understand what variations are possible and inspire you to create your own masterpiece.

A fireplace in the form of the letter "P" without a base is easy to manufacture. Imitation for brickwork of red paper bricks or wallpaper corresponds to the New Year theme.

The "red brick" fireplace and green spruce are a classic color scheme holiday.

To create the desired effect on inner wall hearth, you can glue the image of burning fields. Such a fabulous option can be used as a prop for a children's party or for a home performance.

The image of the fire inside the fireplace can be more realistic, especially if you find a 3D format. If you take not individual bricks for pasting, but wallpaper or a special blank for brickwork, then it will turn out even more interesting. But here you need even corners and the correct shape.

You can also paint bricks on the surface. It will take longer, but it will look more believable. You can put rolled paper or thin cardboard in the firebox.

The use of plaster, followed by the application of masonry figures, turns a light cardboard structure into a solid stone structure. White color marble will perfectly fit into the interior of the bedroom with pastel colors.

A great place for a fireplace is the wall between the windows in the spacious living room of a private house. The option with a chimney in a large room looks impressive.

For a fireplace in an aristocratic style under a white massive stone, decorative elements made of polystyrene foam (patterns, slats) and a ceiling baguette are well suited.

They are glued with polymer glue to the finished, but not painted structure. It is important to maintain symmetry.

Instead of pasting the boxes with white paper, you can use wrapping with a cloth of a certain color. Feel free to involve children in the process: joint crafts strengthen relationships and develop imagination.

An excellent option for a small hearth. It is more stable, so it can be placed not only against the wall. It will perfectly decorate the hallway. You can put a bunch of twigs from the park in the firebox, and to simulate fire, cut out a flame from colored paper or put short LED garlands (can be with a flickering effect). The presence of dim light from the fireplace will fill the apartment with comfort and warmth.

If space permits, you can put a large false fireplace as tall as a human being. The fireplace mantel can be decorated with themed figurines and a miniature Christmas tree. We leave a closet in place of the firebox - the dimensions of the fireplace allow this. And a vase with sweets will replace the attraction of a flickering fire.

If the apartment does not free wall for a fireplace, then you can use the idea corner design. His creation is no different increased complexity, but here special attention is paid to geometric proportions. A harmonious solution would be a right-angled isosceles triangle at the base of a triangular prism.

To create a festive atmosphere in a cozy corner, light a few tea candles in the firebox, and put decor or tangerines on the shelf.

The New Year is the most fabulous holiday and it must be celebrated surrounded by magic. Create magic for yourself and your loved ones from available materials for three free evenings.

Master class: mini-fireplace from one box

Sometimes you want to festively decorate not only the house, but also the office or your workplace. In this case, it is enough to make a mini-fireplace, which can be placed on a windowsill, an open shelf or a desk.

For crafts you will need:

  • 1 medium size box;
  • 3 small elongated boxes;
  • glue gun or regular PVA glue;
  • a piece of cardboard for the mantelpiece;
  • piece of wallpaper brickwork or self-adhesive oilcloth;
  • white water-based paint;
  • decor (spruce branches, garlands, candles);
  • scissors and pencil.

We present step-by-step instructions for manufacturing:

Glue all the doors at the bottom of the box. On the front side, we bend one long sash (it will serve as a protruding base for the fireplace), and glue the other to two short sashes.

We apply small boxes around the perimeter of the resulting window and make markings with a pencil.

According to the markup, we expand the window, cutting off excess cardboard with scissors. Then glue the boxes.

We cut out decorative elements from the cut cardboard (you can come up with something original). We glue the blanks and planks on the fireplace.

We glue a cardboard mantelpiece, it should protrude 4-5 cm, forming a visor. We paint the craft with white paint in several layers. It is desirable to paint over from all sides.

We fix the decor made of plastic or metal with polymer glue. On the inner wall and on the protruding bent base with glue, a piece of wallpaper cut to size.

We complete the decoration with New Year's decor and candles.

Master class: fireplace with a cutout in the form of an arch

An easy way to make a homemade fireplace out of two old boxes.

You will need:

  • 2 large boxes of the same size;
  • stationery tape;
  • knife and scissors;
  • a sheet of cardboard;
  • gray wrapping paper;
  • brick color paint;
  • sponge for applying paint;
  • decor for decoration and imitation of fire in the furnace.

And now the whole process step by step:

We take two old boxes and connect them to make a large box. Carefully glue all joints and seams with tape.

From cardboard we make a cornice for the fireplace.

We cut out an arch in the box (it is better to first make the necessary markings). We wrap the box and cornice with wrapping paper. We cut out a window in the place of the arch and glue the edges of the paper.

We glue the cornice with adhesive tape.

We paint over internal walls fireplace with black spray paint (this is done on the street). We dilute the paint of the desired shade for applying bricks. Using a sponge, apply bricks to the surface and leave to dry.

Firewood and candles on a black background create a special atmosphere.

Master class: corner fireplace made of cardboard sheets with a chimney

One of the options for a corner fireplace was presented above. Its creation from cardboard box won't be difficult. More complicated and interesting is the construction of cardboard sheets with a chimney.

First you need to prepare:

  • cardboard sheets;
  • roulette and a long ruler;
  • pencil, scissors and stationery knife;
  • glue gun;
  • white and red paint.

When all the materials and tools are prepared, you can get to work. In this project, it is very important to draw up a preliminary drawing and make all measurements. It is more convenient to immediately cut the desired workpieces. And in order not to get confused, sign the sizes on them. Then it remains only to assemble the constructor.

Detailed manufacturing process:

Cut out triangular bases with rounding. It will take 4 blanks to create a solid structure. Glue a border of pieces of cardboard to one of the blanks. Inside the resulting box we create stiffeners.

We close the structure with the second blank and get a solid foundation for the fireplace. Do the same for the top.

For reliability, we fix the joints with masking tape. Glue the resulting parts to the side panels.

We install a panel inside the fireplace to close the corner. We install planks from the sides and form a wide “wall” with stiffeners. Finished construction primer and white paint.

From cardboard we cut blanks for decorating the fireplace inside and out. Items for interior design make it wider and shorter and paint it pink. It is better to make elements on the exterior design narrower and more authentic, they are painted red, creating a contrast. We glue the fireplace with blanks inside and out.

We proceed to the manufacture of a chimney with stiffeners. On the front side glue a single sheet of cardboard. We paint the chimney with white paint and create an imitation of wood.

We fix the chimney and decorate with New Year's decor.

The desire for comfort and coziness is inherent in each of us. The warmth of the hearth is not empty words. What could be better than spending evenings by the fireplace watching the flames? Owners of private houses can afford a real fireplace, but for residents of city apartments, this, unfortunately, is an unaffordable luxury. But for real masters, nothing is impossible, and today we will tell you how to make a false fireplace in an apartment.

What is a fake fireplace and why is it needed

In a city apartment, conditions will not allow you to install an ordinary fireplace. The absence of chimneys, ceilings that are not designed for such loads are the main obstacles to obtaining permission to build such a structure. False fireplaces come to the rescue, which you can easily assemble on your own, without having special skills in construction work.

Of course, you can buy an electric fireplace - such devices are now common, and their installation will not take much time and effort. But making a fireplace with my own hands- a very exciting activity, it gives vent to fantasy, allows you to make an exclusive thing. In addition, an open fire in an apartment is optional (and it is unlikely that you will be allowed to do this), and a false fireplace will serve you as a multifunctional decoration.

Note! Although you will not light a fire in a false fireplace, still do not put flammable things below. Especially if the building covers heating batteries or you plan to put electrical appliances in the furnace.

The fake fireplace looks like the real one

At artificial fireplaces there are such advantages:

  • cheapness - you only need money for materials;
  • availability of materials necessary for the manufacture of the structure;
  • the ability to change the decor at any time according to your mood;
  • use in decorating inexpensive, but original and beautiful materials.

False fireplaces are divided into 3 groups:

  1. Reliable artificial fireplaces completely imitate the real ones, respecting both the dimensions and design principles. Inside the firebox, you can install a bio-fireplace burner, which will provide an almost exact effect of a burning hearth. Quite an expensive option, but it looks the most believable.
  2. Conditional false fireplaces have a portal protruding from the wall. They can be decorated according to your taste and desire. The furnace hole is usually filled with firewood or candles are placed there.
  3. Symbolic can be made from any materials. Their peculiarity is that they are not at all like an ordinary fireplace. It can even be a picture made on the wall with some decorative elements.

Manufacturing options

For the manufacture of artificial fireplaces, the simplest materials are used, which can always be found not only in the store, but also at home:

  • drywall;
  • plywood;
  • Styrofoam;
  • cardboard;
  • wood;
  • brick;
  • polyurethane.

You can make such a structure even from old furniture, which has already served its purpose, but it's a pity to throw it away.

This is the simplest and fast way. You only need to buy a polyurethane portal for the fireplace. The most difficult part of this task will be the choice of style and size suitable for the room, and everything else will take you a minimum of time and effort.

If you want to insert an electric fireplace, consider its installation and dimensions, the method of connecting to the mains and the quality of ventilation.

The lightweight polyurethane frame of the raised fireplace saves you a lot of installation hassle.

You will need:

  • polyurethane portal for a fireplace;
  • contact adhesive;
  • putty;
  • materials for finishing the firebox (for example, decorative bricks).

And now we will tell you step by step how to install such a fireplace.

  1. The best place to install such a fireplace is one of the side walls of the room. The structure should not clutter up the room and interfere with the passage.
  2. If you decide to place an electric fireplace or decorative electric lighting inside the portal, first take care of the wiring and socket.
  3. Make the frame of the furnace from a profile or wooden blocks, and the walls from plywood or drywall.
  4. Install the portal, carefully fix it on the contact adhesive. Carefully fill the gaps between the portal and the firebox with finishing putty.
  5. Finish the firebox in the style you have chosen, or install an electric fireplace. If desired, you can install a mantel made of artificial stone or wood.

Such portals are made not only from polyurethane, but also from wood. They are much more expensive, but among them you can find real masterpieces, additionally equipped with, for example, a built-in bar.

plywood construction

This idea comes in handy if you need to hide some flaw in the room, such as an old heating radiator, which will cost a lot to replace. A false fireplace will come in handy here.

The need to cover the old heating radiator is a great opportunity to install a false fireplace

Carry out calculations and make a drawing of the future structure. This will help you not to waste extra money and time.

Drawing of a standard fireplace

Note! When you develop a drawing, refer to ready-made options for fireplaces made of stone. Based on them, you can easily design your false fireplace.

First of all, install the frame right in place. Wooden blocks are suitable for it.

Frame made of bars for a raised fireplace

Next, sheathe the frame with plywood. Fireplace design and appearance may be adjusted during operation. For example, you can add a podium to the portal. A heating battery is located inside the structure, so it is better to assemble the frame on screws: nails at high temperatures do not guarantee a snug fit of plywood to the bars in the future.

Frame covered with drywall

On the back wall, fix a firebox on the bar that imitates a fireplace. Cover all exposed surfaces with self-adhesive tape.

Install the firebox and cover it with foil
