Before proceeding with the manufacture of the chair, I will comment on the questions that are most often asked by self-taught furniture makers.

What to cut? For longitudinal cutting we use circular saw, for a transverse and curvilinear cut, we use an electric jigsaw or a hacksaw.

What to fasten wooden details? In the design of the chairs there are heavily and lightly loaded connections. For heavily loaded connections, we use bolts with washers and nuts. For lightly loaded connections, we use wooden dowels or furniture confirmations.

Paint or varnish? The choice of coatings depends on the quality of the lumber. If the wood has no visible defects, it can be stained with a stain and covered with a clear varnish. If there are pigment spots on the surface or it was necessary to eliminate defects with putty, it is preferable to cover the part with primer and a continuous layer of paint.

How to reduce paint consumption? We noticed that at finishing armchairs paints and varnishes are absorbed into the surface and unpainted places remain? The problem is that lumber has a porous structure and in order to reduce its absorbency, it will be necessary to first apply a primer or drying oil.

Why do cracks appear? Often, novice craftsmen, having made furniture from wood, eventually discover the appearance of cracks. The reason for the cracking of lumber is uneven shrinkage. The solution to the problem is the use of initially dry wood.

Preparation for work

At the preparatory stage, we select a suitable drawing, prepare materials and prepare a tool.

As materials, I propose to use not new purchased boards, but wooden pallets. One dacha chair will take one and a half pallets. Considering that used pallets are sold for about 300 rubles, the price assembled furniture will be low.
