Installation of plastic (pvc) windows according to GOST. What are the rules for installing plastic windows? Rules for installing pvc windows according to GOST

In addition to the cost of a plastic window, intermediary companies also include installation and delivery services in the final amount. In order not to spend thousands of rubles and save money, you can install a plastic window yourself. In that step by step master class we will teach you how to properly dismantle the old window and prepare a new one for installation, taking into account the installation technology in accordance with GOST.

Step #1: Dismantling the old window

In our case, we dismantle the plastic window. The old wooden window is removed from the opening in the same way, so there should be no problems at this stage. For dismantling, we need the following set of tools: a hacksaw, a crowbar or a crowbar, a chisel, a spatula, a nail puller, a puncher, a screwdriver (a Phillips screwdriver).

First, we remove the slopes. If they are assembled from PVC panels, clean the seams of sealant or glue. Take a chisel or flathead screwdriver and remove the decorative panels. If the slopes are plastered, use a chisel and a hammer to remove a layer of plaster. Remove the sashes from the hinges. In plastic windows, remove the decorative top trim, press the stem with pliers. From the bottom hinge we remove only the overlay, lift the sash up.

With wooden windows more difficult. Often the hinges are painted over with paint or completely rusted, then we knock out the stem manually with a hammer or tear off the sash from the frame with a crowbar, crowbar.

We remove the glass. We take a spatula, insert it end-to-end with a glazing bead, which fixes the position of the double-glazed window, hook it up and remove it. We remove all 4 glazing beads that hold the double-glazed window. Remove the top bead last. We take out the glass, not forgetting to wear thick gloves so as not to get hurt. To safely remove the glass from the frame, you can use special suction cups.

We pass to the windowsill. We remove the old concrete window sill with a hammer and a puncher. Our window sill is plastic. Since it is in good condition, we carefully remove it and peel off the old layer of foam. With one easy pull up, it is easily dismantled. We remove the ebb, unscrew the fixing screws with a screwdriver or screwdriver.

We take a hacksaw and cut the old layer of mounting foam around the entire perimeter of the window with a tool. Remove fasteners. We unscrew or pull out the anchor plates or self-tapping screws for concrete with a nail puller.

After all the stages of dismantling, the frame remains in the opening. Carefully take it out, preferably with a partner. wooden frame it is more convenient to remove it in parts, first sawing the impost (frame divider), the lower part, and then removing the sidewalls and the upper crossbar.

Step 2: Attaching the New Window Frame to the Opening

Before starting work, we remove dust, debris, pieces of concrete on slopes, large nails. For better adhesion of the mounting foam to the base, we cover it with a primer over the entire width. We insert the frame into the window opening and try it on, having previously removed the sashes and double-glazed windows.

We put support pads under the corners and impost connections of the lower profile of the frame. We make sure that on both sides the frame goes beyond a quarter of the window opening. We use mounting wedges, not pieces of wood or an old window frame. The gaps between the frame and the slopes should be about 2 cm on the sides and bottom and at least 1 cm on top to fill the space mounting foam.

We check possible deviations horizontally and vertically by the level.

If you install a metal-plastic window in accordance with GOST, we recommend sticking PSUL tape around the outer perimeter of the frame. It will protect the mounting seams from ultraviolet radiation, moisture penetration, the formation of fungus and mold, and will create reliable sound insulation. On the butt on the inside of the frame (on the sides and top), we glue a double-sided vapor barrier tape. It removes excess moisture to the outside and does not allow it to penetrate from the outside, provides good ventilation. The adhesive tape must be wider than the overlap joint.

We drill holes in the frame and wall for pins. We retreat from the corners of the frame in each direction by 15–18 cm and check the deviations in level. It's hard to do everything yourself. Therefore, one person works as a puncher, and the second holds the level. The distance between fasteners on the frame should not exceed 70 cm.

On the lower part of the frame, we retreat 12-18 cm from the dividers (imposts) on each side and make holes for the dowels. We do similar actions in the upper part of the frame.

We insert dowels into the holes, tighten them first, not completely. We check the structure again by level and finally fix the fasteners. We put decorative caps-stubs on the hats.

Step 3: Exterior Waterproofing and Foaming the Joints

For waterproofing the external mounting seam, we lay a vapor-permeable tape under the ebb. It will protect the seam from moisture and provide the necessary ventilation.

We lay the tape along the entire length of the window opening. Remove the bottom base and attach it with the adhesive side to the base. We fix the drainage. In our case, we use old pattern with customized sizes. When installing a new ebb, we measure the distance between the quarters. According to the measurements made, we cut off the desired length of the ebb. We retreat 2 cm on each side and cut off the edge. We insert the ebb into the groove and fix it with self-tapping screws on the stand profile, having drilled 3-5 holes for fixing.

Installing PVC windows with your own hands is a simple process that does not require special skills or technological skills. Immediately after the delivery of new windows home, you can start self-installation while spending a little time. But it is necessary not only to carry out installation - you also need to prepare the workspace, stock up on tools and avoid possible errors that lead to negative consequences.

So, you already have ready-made PVC windows at home that you can install. First of all, it is necessary to dismantle the old window frames and prepare the working space for the subsequent installation of new double-glazed windows.

Dismantling is very easy - it only takes a few tools. This is a crowbar, a screwdriver, a hammer and a chisel. Dismantling is carried out as follows:

The first stage - we carry out the dismantling of old windows

  1. Primarily windows are removed. To do this, you need to use a hammer and a chisel (or a screwdriver). First, movable windows with frames are removed. To do this, gently pry with a screwdriver bottom loop, on which the window is attached, after which it is hooked upper loop. After that, several intense, but neat blows are applied from the bottom of the frame - so it should come out of the loops. If the movable window was not fixed tightly enough, then a small effort is enough to remove it from the hinges.
  2. After dismantling the movable windows, it is necessary to remove the window sill. For this, a chisel and a hammer are taken, with the help of which the plaster is beaten in the grooves of the window sill. Set aside the tools and take the crowbar. With its help, the window sill is pushed from below (in the area between the window sill itself and the concrete slab) and loosened - for easy dismantling, it is necessary that the window sill “walk” freely. If there is any filler or fixing elements under the window sill (as a rule, in old designs there are wooden blocks for support), they are removed. After that, the window sill is carefully pulled off from the side of the frame with a crowbar and pulled forward with a few sharp movements. As a rule, old window sills are weakly fixed, so there will be no problems removing them.
  3. The entire window frame is dismantled. Along the perimeter of the window, plaster is beaten off with a hammer - its thin layer hides the spacers on which the frame rests. Initially, wooden spacers are removed from the side. After that, with the help of a crowbar, a part of the window frame is extended.

As a rule, many builders neglect all the rules of dismantling - wooden window sill it is simply cut into pieces by a grinder, and the concrete is broken with a puncher. The frames are also cut into pieces, after which they are taken out of the opening in separate pieces.

Preparation of the window opening and windows

After dismantling the old window frames, there will be a lot of construction debris. On the surface of the opening there may be remnants of old insulation, plaster and small debris (wood chips, sawdust, etc.). All this must be removed from the surface of the opening. Ideally, before installing new PVC windows, the window opening should be presented or neat brickwork(if the house is brick), or a flat and smooth concrete slab (if the house is panel). All irregularities, cracks and chips are covered with plaster and leveled.

Is the window opening ready? Then you need to check the condition of PVC windows. It is necessary to inspect the block for deformation, and then check the completeness of all parts. Be sure to check the availability of the following components:

  • Windowsill;
  • Plugs;
  • Mounting profile;
  • Anchor plates required for fixing the window;
  • Installation instructions (some manufacturers provide it in one set with a double-glazed window);
  • Accessories (handles, plugs for handles);
  • Low tide.

After everything is checked, it is necessary to prepare tools for installation work.

PVC window installation tools

To install PVC windows with your own hands, you will need the following tools:

  • Building level;
  • Screwdriver;
  • Mounting foam and a gun for it;
  • Perforator;
  • primer;
  • Hexagons (it is desirable to have 5-6 pieces in the set);
  • Pencil or marker;
  • Roulette;
  • Paint brush.

As a rule, installers are limited to a smaller set of tools. But since you need to do correct installation do-it-yourself plastic window, and these windows must be installed securely, it is recommended to use the list above.

Taking window measurements

There are two ways to measure - with a quarter and without a quarter. Let's take a closer look at each of these methods.

Taking measurements without a quarter

A PVC window is installed in a cleaned and pre-prepared window opening. To order a window, you need to carry out the following calculations:

  • Window height: five centimeters are subtracted from the vertical of the window opening;
  • Window width: three centimeters are subtracted horizontally from the window opening.

The resulting gaps will subsequently be blown out with mounting foam. As a result, the following parameters are obtained: an indent of 1.5 centimeters is made from the sides of the opening and 2.5 centimeters each from the upper and lower sides.

After that, the window sill and drain are measured. Each value obtained must be increased by at least 6-7 centimeters.

Taking measurements with a quarter

Measurements are carried out as follows: the window opening is measured horizontally at its narrowest point. The resulting value must be increased by three centimeters - this determines the required window width. In the vertical direction, the length is measured from the base of the window opening to the upper quarter - this is how the height of the window is determined.

As a result of measurements, you should get indicators:

  • Width and height of the window;
  • Width and height of the window sill;
  • Drain width and height.

Installation of PVC windows according to GOST

In most cases, GOST for installation plastic windows is purely advisory in nature. However, we recommend that you adhere to the basic requirements - this is necessary, first of all, for the owner of the house.

There are two mounting technologies. Do-it-yourself installation of double-glazed windows can be done with unpacking windows and without unpacking. In the first case, it is necessary to completely disassemble the window - remove the glazing beads, pull out the double-glazed window, then fix the frame with anchor bolts in the opening, and then mount the double-glazed windows and glazing beads. In the second case, the window is not disassembled, but is fixed with the help of special fasteners, anchor plates, without the use of through fastening with dowels. The first method is considered more difficult and requires certain work skills. That is why we will consider only the second case, as the most preferable for the majority of the inhabitants.

We install windows

Before you start installing windows according to GOST, you need to create your own plan. This can be either a self-developed drawing or an instruction that comes with the manufacturer. Following the plan will help to complete the work without errors and with maximum accuracy.

The work is carried out as follows:

  • The surface of a pre-prepared window opening processed by primer in order to ensure better adhesion with hydro- and vapor barrier tapes. Primer should be applied with a regular paint brush.
  • We remove the packaging from the windows and glue on the half-perimeter of the frame PSUL sealing tape. This will provide additional protection for the mounting foam from the harmful effects of UV rays and precipitation.
  • The window frame is installed in the opening. We will consider this point in more detail below.
  • We fill the seam with mounting foam.
  • The next step is to glue the frame internal vapor barrier. To do this, a vapor-tight tape is glued on the inside of the frame.

We use the following rules when installing a plastic window:

  1. We put marks on those places of the frame where the fastening will subsequently take place.
  2. Fasteners are attached to the frames from the sides, while maintaining a step of 50 cm. It should be borne in mind that the maximum indent from the edges should be no more than 15 cm.
  3. Fasteners - anchor plates - are attached to the window opening with self-tapping screws.
  4. The window is placed on plastic mounting wedges at the building level. Any deviation must be avoided.
  5. For additional fixation on the sides, mounting wedges or ordinary wooden bars are used - they are inserted in the gaps between the fasteners.
  • On the outer side of the window, after installing the frame, a diffuse tape is fixed under the ebb.
  • The openings that remain between the window frame and the walls must be blown out with mounting foam.

Tip: When securing the window frame with fasteners, it is not necessary to tighten all the screws tightly. Only after the structure is finally fixed, you can bring the fasteners to the stop.

The window sill comes in one set with metal-plastic windows. The master himself determines what width he should have. Measurements are taken, after which the window sill is carefully cut to the desired length. Next, the window sill is installed as follows:

  • A window sill is installed on wooden bars and adjustable in height. Adjustment should be carried out with the building level so that the window sill is strictly horizontal with respect to the window opening.
  • After the position is finally established, the window sill is removed, plugs are put on its side parts. An adhesive mixture is laid on the wooden blocks that are the basis for the window sill (it is recommended to use CM-11 or a similar material).
  • The window sill is re-installed on the bars and pressed a little. This procedure must use building level, since the window sill during installation may lead a little to the side.
  • After the adhesive solution is fixed, the space between the window sill and the window opening is blown with mounting foam.

Low tide installation

It can be installed as a home-made ebb, and the one that comes with the metal-plastic bag. If you purchase a drain, then you need to take into account that it is fastened with screws to the bottom profile, and the part of the window protruding above it should protect the junction of the profile with the drain. The drain itself is mounted extremely simply: a profile is attached to the window opening, after which, with the help of self-tapping screws, the drain is fixed on it. For additional protection of the attachment point, blowing with mounting foam is carried out.

PVC window sealing

Technological features foaming are written on a cylinder with polyurethane foam. Each master can verify this on his own by reading detailed instructions indicated on the bottle. The foam polymerization process is catalyzed by high humidity. That is why, before starting the sealing process, it is necessary to moisten the places with plain water. In the absence of moisture, polymerization will not be of sufficient quality.

After the foam hardens, it must be carefully cut off with a regular clerical knife. Do this carefully so as not to damage the metal-plastic windows.

Tip: Do not try to fill the entire cavity of the assembly seam the first time. First you need to apply a little foam with a mounting gun, wait for it to swell, and then re-apply the required amount.

Common installation errors

Both beginners and masters can make mistakes when installing plastic windows. As a rule, the most common are the following:

  • Carrying out incorrect measurements or lack thereof;
  • Selection of unsuitable profiles for installation;
  • Mounting on an uneven surface, or on a surface that has not been previously cleaned;
  • Installation of PVC windows without level;
  • Wrong fixing of the window. Some people either use too many fasteners or don't use them at all. There is only one result - the window can be deformed during operation;
  • Installing a window at insufficient depth. If the window is placed too close to the inner edge of the window opening, a significant drop in temperature around the window is possible, and, as a result, condensation may form;
  • Improper sealing. Mounting seams are either insufficiently blown with foam, or unevenly. This leads to the fact that after a few years of operation, the window begins to fog up and loses some of its advantages.

In order to avoid common mistakes, it is necessary to carry out installation exclusively according to the instructions and in compliance with technological features.

Conclusion

As a conclusion, I would like to note: installing pvc windows with your own hands does not present any difficulties. The entire process of installing one double-glazed window of medium size lasts for one day. This takes into account not only the installation process itself, but also the time spent on dismantling, cleaning and preparation. As a result, you will receive not only a reliable design, but also significantly save your own money.

We hope our description technological process installation of PVC windows will help you in further construction work.

This section presents photos on the topic of today's article. All photos are clickable.

By investing a lot of money in the installation of plastic windows, people expect to seriously increase the comfort level of their apartment. carefully study the lineup, compare the advantages of the profiles used in various designs. But all the advantages of PVC windows can be crossed out by mistakes made during their installation. Most of the claims against companies that install PVC windows are made specifically to the quality of the work of the installers. Plastic windows will last a long time and will not lose their qualities if the installers are guided during installation on GOST, and not on purely personal considerations.

What document regulates the process of installing plastic windows?

In March 2003, GOST 30971–2002 was developed and adopted, which ensured the formalization of installation work. The adoption of this document was facilitated by the state program to increase energy efficiency and energy saving.

But not all companies in their work are guided by the provisions of this document. The high requirements imposed by GOST 30971–2002 increase the costs of firms operating in the PVC window market. Therefore, small companies often ignore its provisions, saving on the quality of services provided. This is facilitated by the low professional level of employees of such enterprises.

To the average layman, familiarity with this document will bring tangible benefits. Knowing the rules for installing PVC windows, he will be able to control the entire installation process, and after its completion he will be able to receive detailed technical documentation on the work performed and full warranty service.

What documents are issued during installation?

The owner of new PVC windows should have two documents on hand, one of them - before installation, the other - after the completion of work on replacing window blocks.

  1. A contract is drawn up in advance, which must contain the necessary calculations for thermophysical properties window installed in a specific wall opening. Based on them, the best installation scheme is selected, which is agreed with the customer.
  2. After the installation of plastic windows is completed, the technical passport of the installation with the installation scheme is handed over to the customer. It should also list the materials used to seal the field joints and the contractor's warranty obligations.

Room preparation

The process of replacing window blocks is accompanied by the release of a large amount of dust. Therefore, before starting work, it is necessary to free the room as much as possible from furniture and household appliances. What cannot be taken out, as well as the walls and floor, must be covered with film or newspapers to prevent contamination.

Tip: you can use an old bedspread as a kind of screen by pulling it wet at a distance of two to three meters from the window opening. It will take on a significant proportion of the dust, and later it can simply be thrown away.

Preparation of window openings

Before installing plastic windows, it is necessary to remove the old frames from the wall opening. To do this, installers use a puncher, an electric jigsaw and a crowbar. GOST 30971–2002 requires the contractor to pre-prepare openings for window blocks: fully clean the surface and eliminate existing defects. Also, GOST requires the presence of false quarters at the openings into which plastic windows are installed. They are necessary for the formation of a three-layer assembly seam.

Reference: quarters are protrusions designed to protect the seams from external adverse effects. In their absence, so-called false quarters are created, usually made from metal or plastic corners.

Three layers of mounting seam when installing PVC windows

Regardless of the materials chosen by the installers of plastic window blocks, according to the rules of any mounting seam must contain three layers.

  • The outer layer must protect the rest of the joint materials from moisture. At the same time, it must allow air to pass through to ventilate the insulation. In most cases, pre-compressed sealing tapes (PSUL) are used to form this layer. Before mounting the window frame in the opening, it is pasted over with these tapes. In the future, they expand and close all the gaps between the box and the wall opening. PSUL are ideal for installation work in new houses where the geometry of the wall openings is not broken. But if the slopes are uneven or plastered, then certain problems may arise when using such a protective material. According to GOST 30971–2002, when installing PVC window blocks, it is allowed to use different kinds sealants such as silicone.

Important! The sealant must not be applied directly to the mounting foam and must cover only two sides of the joint.

  • The middle layer provides thermal insulation. To fill it, polyurethane foam is used, which is selected based on the climate of the area. It is necessary to fill the seam with it in such a way that later you do not have to cut off the excess from the side of the street: such manipulations make it easier for moisture to enter this layer. If there is a need to apply several layers of foam, then the time interval between the formation of each of them should be maintained in accordance with the rules defined by GOST.
  • The inner layer protects the insulation from moisture from the room. It consists of vapor barrier tapes. Should be monitored correct calculation overlap of such a tape, which should be at least half the width of the material. Wrinkling should also be avoided when laying the tape. Most often, installers use tape with a protective coating applied on the inside, but if window openings are plastered, then it is better to choose tape with an external coating.

How should the window block be attached

When installing the window block, it is necessary to ensure a sufficient gap between the window profile and the wall opening. The gap will not only allow high-quality work on filling the joints, but also compensates for possible changes in the geometry of the window caused by temperature fluctuations.

There are rules for the location of fasteners:

  • for PVC window frames white color the maximum distance between them is no more than 700 mm;
  • if the window box is colored, then this distance is reduced to 600 mm;
  • fastening elements must be located at a distance of at least 150 mm from corners and joints;
  • wooden blocks used for pre-fixing the window must be pre-treated with antiseptic materials, their height must be at least 20 mm;
  • in most cases, window frames are fastened with dowels and anchors, which are driven into the wall to a depth of 40 mm.

Important! All fasteners must have an anti-corrosion coating, usually stainless or chrome steel.

What else should the contractor do after installing the window

Not knowing the GOST standards, many customers believe that the contractor's duties end after the installation of the window unit is completed. And companies that install PVC windows take advantage of this, making their work easier. In fact, the contractor is required to additionally perform the following actions:

  • Check the operation of the window sashes, if necessary, adjust them and eliminate possible distortions.
  • Check the operation of all fittings installed on the window.
  • Remove protective film.
  • Collect and take out the debris generated during the removal of old window frames and the installation of a plastic window block.

The importance of proper window installation

Proper installation of a plastic window will avoid the typical problems that arise from improper installation. These include:

  • Insufficient thermal insulation of the structure, the formation of so-called cold bridges.
  • The appearance of mold and fungus due to poor waterproofing or insufficient vapor permeability of the installation seam.
  • The appearance of distortions of the sashes or the window box, caused by an insufficient value of the thermal gap or improper placement of fasteners.

Subject to all the rules prescribed in GOST, a plastic window can last up to 20 years and still not lose its characteristics.

Before moving on to issues directly related to the installation of windows, it is necessary to clearly define what regulatory documents regulate the performance of these types of work.

The following documents contain the most detailed description of the work on installing windows and the requirements for them:

  • GOST 30674-99. Contains general information about "Blocks of PVC window profiles" and the requirements for them. Almost nothing is said about the installation itself.
  • GOST R52749-2007. Contains information on the installation of window blocks using PSUL (vapor-permeable self-expanding sealing tape).
  • GOST 30971-2012. Modified and modernized standard, put into effect on January 1, 2014, instead of the outdated GOST 30971-2002, which in most cases was guided earlier.

At the end of the normative part, the following should be noted. The listed regulatory documents, like most others that are not directly related to safety, are valid, but not mandatory. Nevertheless, following the rules of GOST when installing window structures with your own hands, or when purchasing with installation, will allow you to achieve the quality of the work performed.

GOST 30971-2012 describes in sufficient detail the requirements for the installation and filling of joints, the size of window openings and gaps for installation, as well as the types of fastening structures. In addition, there are General requirements to the performance of work, registration of the necessary documentation and minimum warranty obligations.

DIY installation instructions

measurements

Measures the width and height of an existing window opening. The dimensions of the window are defined as follows:

  • The width is equal to the measured width of the opening minus twice the width of the mounting gap;
  • The height is calculated in the same way. The minimum gap width according to GOST is 20 mm. In calculations, 25-30 mm is usually taken.

Quite often in brick houses the window opening is arranged using the outer quarter. In this case, the outer part is measured.

  • The width is equal to the width obtained between the quarters plus the size of the frame factory per quarter (according to GOST - from 25 to 40 mm.);
  • The height is equal to the measured distance from the low tide to the upper quarter with the addition of the size of the plant to the upper quarter (according to GOST, also from 25 to 40 mm.)

Mounting method (according to GOST)

  • Directly through the frame in the plane in which the installation is carried out. The most commonly used option, which requires the preliminary dismantling of double-glazed windows from blind sashes and prefabricated hinged sashes.

  • With the use of fittings built into the frame in the manufacture. The design is assembled entirely, which requires skills and qualifications due to the considerable mass.

Preparing for installation

After the manufacture and delivery of window structures, it is necessary to carry out preparatory work, namely:

  • clear a place in front of the window;
  • remove furniture;
  • cover walls, floors and all accessible structures with a film or thick cloth;

  • if necessary, dismantle the sashes from the frame (when installing through the frame);
  • fill (preferably, a day before installation) with heat-insulating foam the inner cavity of the support profile. This process, not mentioned in GOST and often not performed by builders, is carried out to prevent the occurrence of a cold bridge in the place where the profile is attached to the frame.

Installation of a PVC profile window

  • Lay wooden blocks or plastic substrates from below on the end of the window opening.
  • Install the frame or the entire prefabricated structure on them (depending on the type of fastening). Supports remain integral part design for greater reliability and stability.

  • Pegs are driven in from the top side between the window and the wall. They fix the frame from the sides.
  • Then it is necessary to check the horizontalness of the structure. If required, perform the necessary alignment by adding substrates.
  • Check the verticality of the structure, make adjustments if necessary.
  • Attach the frame using one of two options:
    • having drilled mounting holes in the wall through the holes prepared in the frame in advance, with a puncher, followed by inserting and fixing the anchors. It must be remembered that you first need to drill the bottom holes, securing the bottom of the structure; then drill and bait the middle and upper part mounts. At the end, check the structure for verticality and horizontality and finally fix it;
    • having bent the fastening ears for the tightest possible fit to the wall, drill an anchor hole in the wall and fix the anchor. Start also from the bottom of the fastening structures, then move up. If possible, it is required to check the correct position of the window structures as often as possible.

Drain installation

Usually, there is a groove on the outside of the window structure for installing a drainage system. According to the requirements of GOST, it must be necessarily foamed during installation; it is also possible to additionally fasten it with screws to create greater structural reliability.

Checking and assembling the window

After the installation of anchor fasteners and draining is completed, it is necessary to check the horizontal and vertical installation once again. Then you need to assemble the structures (if necessary), which is carried out in the reverse order of disassembly, with the installation of all fittings, handles, limiters, etc.

Gap filling

The process takes place with tightly closed doors and is almost always carried out with polyurethane mounting foam. It should be remembered that foamed polyurethane foam is a proven material and has a long history of use, however, it also has certain disadvantages. In particular, it is not sufficiently resistant to exposure to open ultraviolet radiation and the external environment.

Therefore, in order to avoid the possible gradual destruction of the insulation and the subsequent freezing and fogging of windows, GOST prescribes the mandatory isolation of the seam from all sides. For this you need:

  • from the inside, stick on the perimeter of the window (on the sides and top) a waterproofing self-adhesive tape that is vapor-tight and is used specifically for plastic windows. A foil strip is glued from below, which will subsequently be under the window sill;
  • on the outside, a membrane moisture-resistant and vapor-permeable adhesive strip (PSUL) capable of releasing steam to the outside should also be glued around the perimeter.

The mentioned materials are offered on the market in a sufficient range building materials. Their use will practically not increase the cost of work, but significantly improve their quality, as well as the service life of the mounted structure.

The gap is directly filled onto the pre-moistened surface from the inside after the self-adhesive strips are bent. For application, a conventional gun and foam intended for year-round use are used. GOST allows the use of ordinary foam, but such windows can be used at temperatures up to -30 degrees. Naturally, in almost all regions of Russia, windows with such seam insulation cannot be used.

Window sill installation

A fairly simple process, which consists in fitting (if necessary, trimming) the window sill so that it fits exactly under the window frame with an emphasis on the lining profile. GOST provides for its entry into the walls - from 50 to 100 mm. Then, the level at which it should be is attached with pegs, and the cavity under it is sealed with mortar or mounting foam.
