Do-it-yourself thermal electric gun 220. How to choose a thermal electric gun. What elements does a heat gun consist of?

In some cases, it is required to warm the air in the room without a stationary heating system. The only way out in this situation is a portable heater. In times of crisis and rising prices, heaters are extremely expensive. That is why many are wondering how to make a heat gun yourself. This is an ideal heating unit that compares favorably with other types of heating devices.

Advantages of a heat gun

Among the obvious advantages of a homemade electric heat gun is its mobility and the ability to deliver it to any place at no cost. It is convenient to use and easy to repair. A heat gun, built or assembled by hand, has improved performance.

A homemade heat gun is a special device whose main task is to heat large residential or storage facilities. This heater runs on electricity, but can also be used alternative sources energy - kerosene, gasoline, diesel fuel, etc. Heat guns have different power levels. For domestic use, a unit with a power of 2 to 10 kW is sufficient. But simple models work at such power, which are not enough to heat a large working room or warehouse. If you need to heat a large room, then the power of the device must be at least 200 kW. You can order online and buy such a heater, but it is easier and cheaper to assemble it yourself.

Such a heating source has its advantages and disadvantages. First, you don't need a fuel tank. Secondly, electrical devices are safer than those powered by gasoline and kerosene. They are environmentally friendly and do not emit harmful substances. There is only one drawback - the electric gun is only suitable for rooms with a central electrical supply.

Yes, you can make any machine, even one running on gas and diesel fuel, but it is very difficult to achieve the desired level of power if you additionally take into account safety regulations.

When collecting gas gun you run the risk of starting a fire or a powerful explosion, because to assemble such an apparatus you need the skills of a gasman. The same applies to the diesel variant. Plus, you will have to take care of the constant addition of fuel, control of its level and compliance with safety regulations.

And the process of manufacturing a gun that heats the flow by burning gas will require at least quite serious skills in assembling such units.

Mains powered guns have no open flame, no combustible fuel, and the risk of fire is minimal. If there is a possibility of malfunctions, then all of them will be connected with the electrical part, so to know everything about electrical engineering - necessary condition for self assembly.

Electric models are much easier to assemble, but this does not mean that you can do without specific skills and experience in assembling such structures. In addition to the fact that assembly requires the ability to handle many tools, you need to have sufficient experience or work under the guidance of a person with such skills.

If you do not have knowledge in the field of electrical engineering, then it is strictly forbidden to undertake the creation of such an apparatus on your own!

Principle of operation

Any, even a home-made electric gun, has the same principle of operation: air is driven by a powerful fan through a heating device - heating element, which warms up the air, which then exits into the heated zone.

To have an idea of the operation of this unit, you should carefully study its elements.

There are only five of them in the design:

  • Frame;
  • Ten for air heating;
  • Powerful fan;
  • Control device;
  • Wire with plug.

The quality and speed of heating the room depends on the number and power of heating elements. The more heating elements, the more powerful and faster the air mass passing through the apparatus will warm up.

For some models, the rotation speed of the fans changes, and hence the amount of air blown through the device.

There is an erroneous opinion that the rate of heating the room depends on the rate of air passing through the heating elements. For our device, the power and the number of heating elements are important.

The air blowing speed determines only the level of uniformity of heating the room - the higher it is, the more uniform the heating. The heating element is responsible only for the amount of air heating.

How to assemble a heat gun with your own hands

Assembly assumes that the assembler has knowledge and skills to work with electrical equipment. If you are confident in your knowledge, you can start assembling.

Before the mechanical part, we deal with the electrical circuit. It is necessary to take into account all safety regulations and perform the correct installation.

Durable for the body round pipe or box. It must be metal. Metal is the most heat-resistant and wear-resistant material that can withstand temperature changes and external loads. We choose a case of large thickness with low thermal conductivity, since during operation the temperature of the device can be very high.

You can additionally cover the body with materials for thermal insulation. This will save you from burns if you suddenly touch a working device.

Then we install ten. The master himself determines the quantity and power, it all depends on your requirements for the heating device. If you mount several heating elements together, this will help to warm up the room faster and stronger, but will make the design of the device more complicated.

The temperature in the room depends on the power of the heater - the more powerful it is, the more heat will come out.

We fix the heating elements in the center of the case and attach the power wiring to them. Make sure that the contacts and connections are insulated.

Everything connects to the switch, or make a control panel. We take the wiring from the heaters and the fan and connect it, add switches and power wiring.

Before turning on for the first time, check all connections and circuits of the device for short circuits, all wires and contacts must be insulated, open contacts are prohibited.

If you have taken into account all safety requirements, you can carry out the first start-up of the heat gun.

It is very difficult to assemble a thermal electric gun with your own hands. This requires experience with electrical equipment, knowledge and skills.

Without knowledge, you will not assemble a heating device, but only triple the fire. We recommend that you simply purchase a factory model, and not risk your own safety.

It seems that the collection of the heater on your own will help you save a lot of money. But homemade machines can't be safe, especially if you're making them for 24/7 operation. The minimum that can occur is an overload of the mains and a short circuit. A homemade apparatus will quickly pump out oxygen from the room. For your own safety, we advise you to buy a heater in a company store.

A variety of devices have been invented to heat rooms of all sizes, but none of them can be compared in efficiency with a heat gun. It is noteworthy that such a device is easy to assemble on your own, having a set of ready-made parts and assemblies available. How to do it yourself and which variety to give preference to is the subject of our conversation.

Purpose and principle of operation of the heat gun

Today, in everyday life, a special kind of heating devices is often used - fan heaters. A relatively small device, due to the forced air supply blowing around the heating coils, can heat the room in a matter of minutes. The heat gun is, as it were, the big brother of the fan heater. Here is how it differs from him:

  • both heater and fan are more powerful;
  • not only electricity is used as a heat source, but also different kinds fuel.

A heat gun is indispensable if you need to heat a room with a large area and high ceilings: a hangar, a warehouse, a trade or exhibition pavilion, a greenhouse. Such objects are not equipped with a traditional heating system with radiators, since with such volumes it is pointless: more than a dozen radiators or convectors would have to be installed. A heat gun with sufficient power, even alone, will easily solve the problem of heating a vast space.

In addition to the purely heating function, heat guns help to solve various technical problems, for example:

  • in everyday life: heating polymer stretch ceiling and the premises in which it is installed (makes it possible to greatly stretch the panel);
  • in food production: fruit drying;
  • in construction: drying freshly laid plaster and screed.

Types of heat guns

Electrical

The function of a heat generator in such a device is performed by a spiral made of nichrome or another alloy with high electrical resistance or a tubular electric heater (TEN). In the heating element, the main role is played by the same spiral, but it is placed in a copper or brass tube filled with sand.

The electric heat gun is characterized by the absence of increased noise and harmful emissions

Thus, the heating element heats up less than a pure coil, but the difference in temperature is compensated by an increased surface area. That is, the heating element is not inferior in performance to the spiral, but dust does not burn on it and, therefore, users will not feel an unpleasant odor.

The electric heater has the following features:

  • simple design, minimum parts;
  • light weight;
  • minimum noise level (only the fan makes noise);
  • the absence of any emissions;
  • safety due to the absence of an open flame.

All these properties make electric heat guns the most convenient. But at the same time, it is necessary to take into account their following features:

  1. Electric heating, even though the efficiency is close to 100%, is by far the most expensive.
  2. The permissible power of the device depends on what load the power supply is designed for. Often there are significant restrictions, for example, a household electrical network allows you to connect appliances with a power of no more than 7 kW.
  3. At high humidity electric gun becomes dangerous.

Burner

Heaters of this type are equipped with a burner, through which one or another type of fuel is burned. An important advantage of burner heat guns in comparison with electric ones is practically unlimited power, which does not depend on anything. An equally important drawback is the emission of smoke. The units are available in two versions:

According to the type of fuel used, burner heat guns are divided into several varieties.

Gas

The disadvantages are the following:

  • for autonomous operation, you need to fill the cylinder with liquefied gas, which requires special equipment;
  • gas fuel is explosive, and its leakage is not visually detected.

In case of spontaneous burner shutdown, the gas gun is equipped with a solenoid valve, which in such a situation automatically shuts off the gas supply at the signal of the temperature sensor.

Diesel

In addition to the housing, heater and fan, a diesel heat gun is necessarily equipped with a tank, a pump for supplying fuel and a filter for cleaning it. High pressure pump (that's what it's called - fuel pump high pressure or injection pump) supplies fuel to the nozzle installed in the combustion chamber. At the exit, it is sprayed to a fog state. To make the fuel more liquid, a preheating chamber is installed on the approach to the nozzle.

Diesel heat gun of indirect heating, equipped with a stainless steel flue pipe

There may not be a fuel pump: in some heat guns, the ejector principle of fuel supply is used. Due to the pressure drop, it is drawn into a fast-moving air stream, as a result of which a fuel-air mixture enters the chamber.

Diesel plants lose to gas counterparts in the following:

  • use more expensive fuel;
  • make louder noise;
  • they work poorly in frost (fuel becomes viscous);
  • publish bad smell even in version with indirect heating;
  • they are more expensive (the cost price increases due to the difficult-to-manufacture high-pressure fuel pump and nozzle);
  • due to a more complex design, they are less reliable, while repairs are more expensive;
  • need a fuel tank and periodically require refueling.

Positive qualities are explosion safety and the ability to pour fuel into the tank without the use of special equipment.

Under no circumstances should the diesel gun be filled with gasoline or any other flammable fuel!

Multi-fuel

These guns are similar to diesel guns, only they can also run on used oil. When using such fuel, the operation of the installation is even cheaper than gas.

As a fuel for multi-fuel guns, kerosene is used, oils are used - motor, hydraulic, etc.

Solid fuel

A cumbersome and least practical option, since you have to manually add fuel all the time. But such an installation is most accessible to self-manufacturing: Only a fan is required from the purchased units.

Scheme of the device of a heat gun operating on solid fuel

Water and steam

In such models, air blows over a radiator, into which hot water or steam is supplied. Guns of this type are a great option for objects with centralized system heating (at enterprises it is steam) or hot water supply. No electric heaters or burners needed. It is enough to connect the heater to any of the listed systems - and you can use energy hot water or coolant.

Water heaters are hung on the wall or ceiling without occupying the usable area of the heated room

infrared

As you know, bodies give thermal energy not only through contact with the environment, but also through the emission of infrared (IR) electromagnetic waves. The higher the body temperature, the more intense the infrared radiation. The work of IR heat guns is based on this phenomenon: in the heater they have a metal element heated to very high temperature(red glow).

A reflector is installed behind it, so that all radiation is directed in one direction. There is no fan, since there is no need for it: heat is transferred without the participation of air directly to an object located in the field of action of the device.

An infrared heat gun differs from other types in the absence of a fan, which ensures its noiseless operation.

The following can be said about IR guns:

  1. They are very effective in open areas and in well-ventilated areas, that is, in such facilities where the air heated by a conventional heat gun would quickly evaporate.
  2. Due to the absence of a fan, they emit less noise.
  3. It is more comfortable for people to bask in their rays, since they do not create an air flow.
  1. The IR gun is unable to create an even microclimate in a large room, since it does not provide forced air mixing.
  2. Heating with such a gun is not always comfortable, since it can be hot at a close distance from it, and cool at a distance. In addition, it heats only on one side, and if the user's head enters the field of action, unpleasant sensations are possible.

IR guns can be both electric and burner.

Many of the modern heat guns, except for solid fuel ones, are able to automatically maintain the room temperature set by the user by turning it on and off in a timely manner. In burner guns, automatic ignition is carried out by a piezoelectric element that generates a spark.

What guns can be made with your own hands

You can independently assemble the following types of guns:

  • electrical;
  • diesel;
  • gas;
  • solid fuel (designed for wood fuel).

What elements does

So, in general, this device consists of:

  • a cylindrical body (it gives the device a resemblance to a gun) with gratings at the inlet and outlet;
  • heating element;
  • a fan blowing a heating element;
  • suction air filters.

This set can be supplemented or, conversely, reduced - depending on what is used as a heat source. There are several options and each of them is worth considering in detail.

Calculation

First of all, you need to determine how much power a homemade heat gun should have. Obviously, this parameter will depend on the volume of the room, as well as on how quickly the heat produced is dissipated into the external environment. It is customary to use the following empirical formula: Q = V x T x K, where Q is the power of the heat gun, kcal/h; V is the volume of the room, m 3; T - temperature difference inside and outside the room, 0 С; K is a dimensionless coefficient that takes into account the intensity of thermal energy dissipation in environment in other words, the heat loss of the building. It is taken equal to:

  • for non-insulated frame buildings with wooden or metal sheathing: K = 3–4;
  • for poorly insulated light buildings with single-layer brick walls, conventional non-heat-saving windows and non-insulated roof: K = 2–2.9;
  • for capital buildings with two-layer brick walls, regular-sized windows and a moderately insulated roof: K = 1–1.9;
  • for buildings well insulated with modern high-performance heat insulators (including the roof and floor) and equipped with modern energy-saving windows with double-glazed windows: K = 0.6–0.9.

To convert power Q into more familiar kilowatts, its value in kcal / h must be divided by 860.

Thus, for heating an uninsulated warehouse sheathed with corrugated steel sheets (we take K = 4) with an area of 10x15 m with a ceiling height of 5 m at an outdoor temperature of -5 0 C (it is necessary to maintain a temperature of +18 0 C inside), heat guns with a total capacity will be required:

Q \u003d (10 x 15 x 5) x (18 - (-5)) x 4 \u003d 750 x 23 x 4 \u003d 69,000 kcal / h \u003d 69,000 / 860 \u003d 80.2 kW.

Tools and materials

To make a heat gun you will need:

  • steel equal-shelf corners 40x4 mm or 50x4 mm;
  • a pipe with a diameter of about 250 cm or a sheet of galvanized steel with a thickness of 0.7–1 mm;
  • duct fan with an impeller diameter corresponding to the diameter of the pipe (you can take a fan with an engine from an old vacuum cleaner);
  • copper two-core wire with a plug;
  • metal tank lined with heat-insulating material (for a diesel heat gun).

Depending on the type of homemade heater, you will additionally need:

  • for the electric model: heating elements (it is better to remove the spiral heater from the old electric furnace), ceramic insulator, terminals, fuses;
  • for gas: gas-burner with piezo ignition and solenoid valve;
  • for diesel: nozzle, injection pump, fuel filter, copper tube;
  • for wood: sheet steel, corners.

You also need to prepare the tools:

  • apparatus for electric welding;
  • soldering iron;
  • drill with a set of drills for metal;
  • hacksaw for metal;
  • spanners;
  • pliers;
  • riveting machine.

Making a heat gun with your own hands

The process of creating a homemade heat gun always begins with the manufacture of a frame from the corners, to which the body and other components will be attached. Further actions depend on the type of installation.

First, a diagram of the electrical circuit of the installation is drawn up. If the master does not have the relevant knowledge, he can use ready-made developments.

It looks like a drawing of a circuit diagram of a heat gun

Mistakes made when assembling the electric heater may result in damage to the mains or electric shock. When performing work, observe the safety regulations.

An electric heat gun is made as follows:

The manufacturing process consists of the following steps:

We draw the reader's attention to the fact that this heat gun operates according to the direct heating scheme, therefore it cannot be used in residential and other premises with the stay of people or animals.

To control the correctness of the assembly, it is advisable to invite a master from some auto repair shop.

The self-made model does not have a flame control sensor and an overheating protection system, so it cannot be left unattended during operation.

gas heat gun

This setup is made like this:

  1. A meter-long piece of pipe with a diameter of 180 mm is used as a body. In the absence of a finished pipe, it is made from galvanized sheet, fastening its edges with rivets.
  2. At the ends of the body, you need to cut a hole on the side - with a diameter of 80 mm (a pipe for the removal of heated air will be connected here) and 10 mm (a burner will be installed here).
  3. A combustion chamber is made from a meter-long piece of pipe with a diameter of 80 mm. It must be welded into the body exactly in the center, for which several plates must be used.
  4. Next, a disk is cut out of the steel sheet, which will be used as a plug. Its diameter must correspond to the diameter of the heat gun body (180 mm). A hole with a diameter of 80 mm is cut in the center of the disk - for the combustion chamber. Thus, a plug welded to the body on one side will close the gap between it and the combustion chamber. The plug must be welded from the side of the heated air supply.
  5. A pipe for supplying heated air is welded to a hole made in the body with a diameter of 80 mm.
  6. A burner with a piezoelectric element is installed in a 10 mm hole. Next, a gas supply hose is connected to it using a clamp.
  7. The manufacture of the heat gun is completed by installing a fan and connecting it and the piezo igniter to the power supply through a switch.

Video: homemade gas heat gun

The easiest way to make such a heater is from an old gas cylinder. If it is not available, a thick-walled pipe with a diameter of 300-400 mm can also be used as the main blank - then the cover and bottom will need to be welded on their own (these elements are already available for the cylinder).

One of the options for a wood-fired heat gun is shown in the drawing:

Drawing of a general view of a heat gun with an indication of its main dimensions

As you can see, the body of the heat gun is divided into a furnace and an air chamber with inlet and outlet openings. The partition between them and the improvised lamellar radiator act as a heating element for the air passed through the chamber. The location of the radiator fins is shown in the sections.

Sections - frontal and horizontal, which show internal organization guns

By attaching a corrugated hose to the outlet of the air chamber, the user can supply hot air anywhere in the room.

The installation is made as follows:

An overly powerful fan is not required for this heat gun. It is enough to install a model for extracting a bathroom with a capacity of about 50 m 3 / h. You can use a fan from the stove of the car. If the room is very small, a cooler from a computer power supply is also suitable.

Features of operation and care

The owner of the heat gun should adhere to the following rules:

  1. Do not use the heater in the presence of gasoline or solvent vapors in the air. High humidity is also unacceptable for an electric gun.
  2. The exhaust pipe must be located no closer than 1.5 m to any kind of flammable substances.
  3. Between turning off and then turning on the heat gun, a pause of at least 2 minutes should be maintained.
  4. If the unit is equipped with air filters, they should be changed or washed with soap and water, if possible, every 500 hours of operation.
  5. The fuel filters of diesel and multi-fuel heat guns should be cleaned every 2-3 months. Operation.
  6. The fan should be cleaned at the beginning or end of each season.
  7. At the end of the season, you need to clean the combustion chamber from soot using a vacuum cleaner or brush for this.
  8. Transportation of diesel and multi-fuel guns is allowed only with an empty fuel tank. If a sediment is found in the drained fuel during emptying, the tank should be washed with kerosene (fill in a couple of liters and shake). Without flushing, the next time you start, the fuel filter will most likely be clogged.
  9. It is not recommended to refuel the cannon with fuel left over from last season. It is more correct to dispose of such residues and fill the unit with fresh fuel.
  10. During storage, the heat gun should be covered with a plastic film or a thick cloth so that it is not covered with dust.
  11. If the gas heat gun is supposed to be powered from the gas supply network, then the connection to the pipe must be made through a special steel liner. To keep the gas pressure at the connection point constant, the connection angle must be at least 10 degrees towards the outlet.
  12. The inclusion of the gun in the electrical network is carried out after connecting to the pipe.
  13. The installation of a liquid gas cylinder on the gas gun and its connection may only be carried out outdoors. In this case, all joints must be lubricated with soapy water to make sure there is no leakage (if any, the solution will bubble).
  14. When starting the heat gun on the thermostat, you need to set maximum temperature. The desired temperature is set after the combustion chamber has warmed up and the main fan has started.
  15. The operation of the heat gun must necessarily end with a cooling cycle: the burner goes out (the electric heater turns off), but the fan still continues to work for some time. In factory-made heaters, this mode starts automatically when the switch is turned to the "off" position. If you simply remove the plug from the socket, the cooling phase will not be completed and the unit may be damaged due to overheating.
  16. For a home-made heat gun, the user must ensure manual cooling: turn off the burner and turn off the fan only after the installation has cooled down sufficiently.
  17. Fuel cannons can only be refueled when they are cold.
  18. To prevent fuel leakage, the heat gun should be placed on a flat, stable surface.
  19. Near the heat gun and other equipment, it is allowed to store only a daily supply of fuel (no closer than 0.5 m). The main stock should be stored in a separate room.
  20. Do not hang or block the operating heat gun, especially the openings for air intake and supply. Also, do not put things to dry on a running installation.

The effectiveness of heat guns has been proven in practice: if you need to warm up a large room or dry something, you will not find a more suitable installation. At the same time, its design is quite simple, which allows you to make a simple model with your own hands. The main thing is to remember that such heaters are, by definition, very powerful, so when using them, especially homemade options should be extremely careful.

The need to quickly heat a large or small room is not uncommon. Sometimes you need to heat the garage, dry the cement wall, warm up the cellar, shed, garden house, cottage, etc. In this case, a do-it-yourself heat gun can be the best way out. It is not so difficult to make such a device, while you can choose suitable look fuels: electricity, diesel, liquefied gas in cylinders, etc.

It is difficult to name a more convenient and simple device for space heating than a heat gun. It is a powerful heating element and a fan enclosed in one housing. Such a device heats the air and quickly distributes it throughout the room. For warming up small room it will take a few minutes, and heating a large room will not take too much time.

The body of the heat gun must be closed on both sides with gratings that will freely let air through. It is a mandatory element of all industrial models.

The design of the heat gun is very simple, so a properly made device almost never breaks. You can use different fuels to operate the device:

  • electricity;
  • liquefied gas;
  • diesel fuel;
  • kerosene;
  • petrol etc.

The efficiency of the heat gun depends on the power of the device. For domestic use a device with a power of 2-10 kW is quite suitable. For large rooms, you will need a heat gun with a power of 200-300 kW.

Unit #1 - electric heat gun

An electric heat gun is perhaps the simplest and safest heater option. If there is access to electricity on the site, such a unit should be made. It is useful both during construction work and later, for various household needs both in the house and on the site.

Materials and tools

To make an electric heat gun you will need:

  • the frame on which the structure will rest;
  • metal case;
  • heating element (TEN);
  • fan with electric motor;
  • switch or control panel;
  • cable for connecting the device to the mains.

The body of the heat gun can be made from a suitable piece of pipe or from a sheet of galvanized iron. To work, you will need a tool for metal and, possibly, welding machine. The name “cannon” was given to this device because of the similarity of its cylindrical body with an old gun. However, the heater body may also have a square or rectangular section if it is easier to manufacture.

Please note that the body of the product may become quite hot during operation. You should choose a heat-resistant or sufficiently thick metal for the case. In addition, it makes sense to apply a heat-insulating coating to its metal parts.

When choosing a suitable heating element and fan, it should be remembered that the heating temperature depends on the power and number of heating elements. The fan speed does not affect the amount of heat, but the higher it is, the more evenly the received heat will spread throughout the room. Thus, the heating element is responsible for the heating temperature, and the fan speed is responsible for the quality.

To reduce costs, the heating element can be removed from an old iron or other household appliance. Sometimes it makes sense to shorten the heating element in order to increase the heating temperature. A suitable impeller motor can be found in older vacuum cleaners.

Assembly process

In order to assemble an electric heat gun correctly, it is recommended that you first draw up a diagram of the electrical circuit of the device. You can already use finished scheme, one of the options is shown below:

For correct installation electric heat gun before starting work, it is recommended to draw up wiring diagram, reflecting on it the connection of all elements to the mains

Assemble the electric heat gun in the following order:

  1. Prepare the body and support.
  2. Install the heating element (or several heating elements) in the center of the body.
  3. Connect the power cable to the heaters.
  4. Install the fan and supply power to it
  5. Bring the power wire, wiring from the heating elements and the fan to the control panel.
  6. Put a protective grille on the front and back of the case.

During the assembly process, it is necessary to carefully insulate all electrical connections. At the end of the assembly, a test run of the device is made. If it works without failures, you can use the gun for its intended purpose.

Unit #2 - diesel fuel heat gun

Where access to electricity is limited or impossible, diesel-fueled heaters are often used. It is somewhat more difficult to make such a heat gun on your own than an electric model. You will need to make two cases and work with a welding machine.

How does such a design work?

The bottom of the diesel heat gun is the fuel tank. The device itself is placed on top, in which the combustion chamber and the fan are connected. Fuel is supplied to the combustion chamber, and the fan blows hot air into the room. For transporting and igniting fuel, you will need a connecting tube, a fuel pump, a filter and a nozzle. An electric motor is attached to the fan.

The combustion chamber is mounted in the center of the upper body of the heat gun. She represents metal cylinder, the diameter of which should be approximately two times smaller than the diameter of the body. Products of combustion of diesel fuel are removed from the chamber through a vertical pipe. For heating a room of about 600 sq. m may need up to 10 liters of fuel.

Assembly process

The bottom case must be at least 15 cm from the top. To prevent the fuel tank from overheating, it should be made of a material with low thermal conductivity. You can also use a regular metal tank, which will have to be covered with a layer of heat-insulating material.

The diagram clearly shows the device of a heat gun operating on diesel fuel. The device must be mounted on a solid, stable frame.

The upper case must be made of thick metal, it can be a suitable piece of wide steel pipe. It is necessary to fix in the case:

  • combustion chamber with vertical outlet;
  • fuel pump with nozzle;
  • fan with electric motor.

Then install the fuel pump, and remove from the tank metal pipe, through which fuel is supplied first to the fuel filter, and then to the nozzle in the combustion chamber. From the ends, the upper body is covered with protective nets. The power supply for the fan will have to be taken care of separately. If there is no access to electrical network battery should be used.

When using a diesel heat gun, it is important to adhere to safety regulations. Even at a distance of a meter from the case, the directed flow of hot air can reach 300 degrees. It is not recommended to use this device indoors, as combustion products from diesel fuel may be hazardous to human health.

In addition to the unit running on diesel fuel, other types of liquid combustible materials are also used for heat guns, for example, used engine oil. An interesting option such a device for “working out” is presented in the following video:

Unit #3 - gas heat gun

The design of a gas heat gun is in many ways similar to the device diesel unit. It also has a combustion chamber built into the body. Instead of a tank with liquid fuel, a liquefied gas cylinder is used.

As with diesel fuel, great importance has a removal of combustion products, because in homemade devices impossible to provide complete combustion gas. The air that enters the room is heated by contact with the combustion chamber. Exhaust gases leave the device through a branch led to the street. This indirect heating system is safer than open flame heating.

Heat guns of indirect heating are equipped with closed camera combustion, which prevents the contact of open fire and air - this design is more complicated, but safer than direct heating models

To increase heat transfer, longitudinal plates can be welded to the combustion chamber body, usually 4-8 of them are made. At the same time, the dimensions of the combustion chamber with additional plates must be smaller than the diameter of the body so that the chamber does not touch its walls and does not overheat the body of the heat gun.

The body of a gas heat gun gets very hot during operation, so it must be covered with a layer of thermal insulation to avoid possible burns or fire.

To create a gas heat gun, you will need the following elements:

  • liquefied gas cylinder;
  • burner;
  • reducer;
  • metal case;
  • fan;
  • device for remote ignition;
  • frame for mounting the body.

The gas cylinder is connected to a reducer, which ensures a uniform supply of fuel to the burner. The air around the combustion chamber is heated, the fan blows it into the room. The procedure is almost the same as in the manufacture of a diesel heat gun. Visual device gas heater shown in the diagram:

This diagram clearly demonstrates the device of a heat gun operating on liquefied household gas. The fan must be powered

With a gas heat gun, only cylinders that are filled with gas on professional equipment should be used. Do-it-yourself cylinders may leak

During the manufacture and operation of a gas heat gun, it is recommended to adhere to the following rules:

  1. The gas supply pipes at the joints must be carefully sealed.
  2. It is mandatory to install a remote ignition device, since manual ignition can lead to an explosion.
  3. Make sure that the gas ball is always at a sufficient distance from the heater, otherwise the bottle will overheat and the gas will explode.
  4. Never use hand-made cylinders with a gas gun.
  5. Do not leave a working device unattended for a long time.

Another important point- the ratio of the power of the gas gun and the size of the heated room. Do not use a device that is too powerful in a small room, as this can easily lead to a fire.

What if it is necessary to carry out construction in the cold season or urgently need a garage. In order not to delay the repair, the walls should be dried in the near future. An effective solution problems may be the installation of an electric heat gun. With its help, you can quickly complete many tasks, save time and money.

Heat guns have various modifications. First you need to determine what tasks the device will perform, calculate the power depending on the area of \u200b\u200bthe object, and then go shopping.

Device

What is a heat gun and how does it work? The principle of operation of this thermal equipment is similar to the operation of a hair dryer. On the one hand, there is blowing cold air into the heating element, on the other hand, this air comes out already warm.

The device consists of:

  • body - usually metal;
  • heating element;

In addition to the main elements, there are thermal sensors from overheating, power and air flow regulators. Models running on gas or diesel fuel are equipped with a special air filter. Electrical devices, unlike them, do not need this.

The device is called a heat gun because it has an elongated cylindrical shape and wheels. It is the fan that is distinctive feature and the main advantage of the unit.

The principle of operation of a thermal electric gun.

In order not to get confused and not make a mistake in choosing equipment, you need to answer the following questions:

  1. Whether the device will work in a small residential area or an industrial facility.
  2. Whether the room is ventilated or not.
  3. How to choose the equipment of the necessary power so that the device can work without overheating.
  4. Which is better - or a heat gun.

There are industrial models designed for large premises - warehouses, hangars, greenhouses. The power of such devices will be too much for a garage or for a summer residence. They are expensive and consume a lot of electricity.

Small units that can be operated at home have higher environmental performance, especially if they are powered by electricity. Here you need to pay attention to what area the device is designed for and whether it will experience overload.

Convectors also quickly warm up the room and have almost the same principle of operation - with ventilation. What is the difference and what is better - it all depends on the characteristics of the room and the individual preferences of its owner.

Problem of choice

How to choose a heat gun. First, you need to pay attention to the materials from which the body and burner are made.

Most high efficiency at an electric gun with a ceramic heater. Such models are the most expensive, but durable and productive.

If there is a financial opportunity, then you need to buy ceramics in a metal case.

The second important indicator is the power of the heat gun. It is calculated based on the following values.

For each square meter the room consumes 100 watts. Therefore, a small room of 20 - 30 meters will require minimum power 2 - 3 kW. At the same time, the height of the ceilings should not be higher than 4 m.

Advice! The power should be a little more than necessary, then the equipment will not work for wear, and if necessary (in cold winter), you can add performance.

The third indicator is how the thermal equipment will be installed. It is planned to permanently operate in the same room or the device will be mobile. This will determine which gun to choose - stationary or on wheels.

for garage

A garage is a room that is ventilated and there are no crowds of people in it. If the owner is a driver, then the gun can run on used car oil, which is quite effective in terms of economy.

For the garage you can purchase: electrical heating equipment low power - 3 kW. Suitable for household models.

The electric model is safe, but more expensive to use. The area of the garage is usually at least 30 square meters. m. This means that you will need at least 3-kilowatt equipment that operates on a 220V network.

For home and garden

To quickly supply heat to a house or cottage, it will be enough household mobile device on wheels.

An electric gun is perfect for giving. Usage electrical appliances implies a good condition of the wiring in the house. The more powerful the device, the more it loads the network. If the technical condition of the electrical network leaves much to be desired, then you must first start installing new wiring.

To heat a residential building, an electric heat gun is used additionally when the temperature outside drops sharply.

Why is it not advisable to constantly use the device:

  1. Dries the air, which is bad for the condition of the respiratory system.
  2. They don't like dry air. houseplants- will have to spray more often.
  3. Wooden products are prone to cracking - doors, windows, furniture, floors.

Better for home use central heating- gas or steam, and an electric heat fan can be used for additional heating.

For heating a residential building, an electric heat gun is used additionally.

For building purposes

Mobile models are required for construction. What is a construction heat gun - this is powerful equipment from 10 to 100 kW. AT shortest time can dry the wall, ceiling, concrete. The advantage is that it can be directed to a specific area. If we take into account that the power of thermal installations is from 3 to 1000 kW, then 10 - 150 kW will be optimal for construction work, depending on the purpose.

Overview of popular models

Domestic and foreign firms produce thermal equipment of various quality. According to consumer reviews, the rating of heat guns is headed by Ballu for the optimal combination of price and quality. Power is calculated for household, construction, industrial facilities - from 2 to 110 kW. Price - from 1500 to 223000 rubles.

  1. Zilon made in Russia. Price - from 2000 to 16000 rubles. Depends on performance.
  2. Timberk Sweden. Price - from 1400 to 16000 rubles.
  3. Termica Russia. The price is from 4000 to 8000 rubles. household models.
  4. Master Italy. From 2600 to 4 million rubles. All modifications of electric heat guns are on sale - from household to industrial.
  5. Vectra England. The price is from 2500 to 6000 rubles. household models.

The review of heat guns can be diversified by the domestic models Luch, Zubr, Interskol.

The power range of heat guns is very large. Starting from household appliances - 1.5 kW, ending with industrial equipment - over 1000 kW.

There are one, two and three phase models. The dimensions of the devices also differ - the more powerful, the more. The volume of air that the fan drives through the gun is from 80 to 1800 cubic meters / hour.

Some models are specially designed for wet rooms, have appropriate protection.

Semi-industrial ceramic products

The semi-industrial ceramic heat gun is designed for heating spacious premises: auto repair shops, greenhouses, warehouses.

Important! Good air conditioning equipment is not cheap; expensive materials and sophisticated technologies are used for its manufacture. Devices for permanent use should not be chosen from a cheap segment.

Business facilities should save on territory maintenance, so they are most often multifunctional, mobile, combined in terms of fuel use. The most environmentally friendly are ceramic heating elements.

Advantages of ceramics:

  • durability;
  • no harmful compounds in the air;
  • no smell;
  • dries the air less
  • higher efficiency at the lowest cost.

Such characteristics are more suitable for rooms in which people work or live. What is better - a convector or a heat gun, you can answer: choosing a cheap convector, you can make a mistake. Choosing a cheap heat gun - also.

Semi-industrial ceramic heat gun is designed for heating spacious rooms.

  • Equip the control panel - bring all the wiring to the mode switches.
  • Check again before switching on.
  • Testing of the device should be carried out without touching the metal case. If it doesn't spark, you can use it. For ease of movement, you can put the device on wheels or install it on a stretcher.

    Useful video: how to make a heat gun with your own hands

    You can buy a unit in a supermarket, picking it up for your needs, taking into account safety. But you can make a heat gun yourself - this will greatly reduce the cost of construction and allow you to use it in utility rooms.

    circuit diagram

    A huge number of different heaters that are on the market today allows you to find the very efficient unit that is suitable for the operating conditions in a particular room. We will not talk about all the devices, but we will focus only on the heat gun. What is it and what parts does it consist of? Do-it-yourself heat gun - is it real or difficult? We will try to find answers to these and other questions.

    Let's start with one very important criterion that determines the exact name of the heat gun. Firstly, it is a heating unit, which is included in the category of thermal fans. Secondly, the gun differs from the fans themselves in greater power and heat dissipation. In this case, all devices with a power of more than 2.0 kW will be referred to as heat guns.

    Classification

    By what principle can heat guns be divided? Their entire classification is based on the fuel used to generate heat. Hence the types of devices:

    • Diesel.
    • Electric.
    • Gas.
    • Infrared.
    • Water.
    • Monofuel.

    We will be interested in the electric version, because it is the easiest. After all, electricity is carried out to all remote corners of any region. This is the first. The second is operational safety. The third is ease of maintenance. For example, you do not need to constantly monitor the diesel fuel in the tank or the temperature of hot water flowing in the heat exchanger tubes.

    Heat gun device

    The electric heat gun consists of three parts:

    1. Fan.
    2. A heating element.
    3. Frame.

    If we are talking about a homemade unit, then you can make it yourself using various appliances and parts that are easy to find at any hardware store.

    In fact, the device of the gun is as follows. As a body, you can take a pipe made of a material that does not conduct current. For example, from asbestos. Although you can make a box of plywood or other material. Turn on your imagination here.

    Great idea

    Now you need a heating element. The simplest is a nichrome spiral, which is used in irons or other heating devices. To increase the heating of the spiral, it can be folded in half. Please note that the spiral must be connected to a thermostat, which regulates the degree of heat. This is an important point. The spiral is installed inside the pipe or box, and the thermostat is located outside. Place of installation of a spiral - the middle of the case.

    Now a fan is installed at the end of the case. Its power may not be very large. Such is the simple device of a low-power heat gun.

    Attention! The fan motor and coil must be connected to the AC mains separately.

    Design options

    Let's look at several design options that will be easy to do yourself.

    Option one

    It will require:

    • Heating element - we recommend RVEC with a power of 2.2 kW.
    • Plywood 16 mm thick.
    • Various fasteners.
    • Thermostat.
    • Fan rotor rotation regulator.
    Fan Systemair KD 250 M1

    First of all, the base of the gun is being prepared, on which all other elements will be held. To do this, a stand measuring 47 × 67 cm is cut out of plywood. This device is processed with sandpaper.

    Since the duct fan and the RVEC heating element are two ready-made devices, they simply need to be fastened together with a clamp. Now you need to fix the double device on the plywood supply. To do this, you need a bracket and a plastic clamp, which is attached to the walls sewer pipes. Fix the bracket to the plywood with self-tapping screws. The outlet pipe of the heating element will be attached to it using a clamp. And the back of the fan will simply rest on a plywood stand.

    When all parts of the gun are installed and fixed, you can proceed to the electrical part of the device. You need to connect the fan and heater separately from each other. Therefore, we connect a thermostat to the RVEC. You can install a temperature sensor that will control the temperature. We connect a rotation regulator to the fan - it will allow you to change the speed of air supply to the heating element, thereby regulating the heat in the house.

    For the convenience of moving the heater, four wheels can be attached to the bottom of the plywood plate.

    Option two

    This is the same electric homemade gun, only more powerful. As a body, we recommend using an asbestos pipe. The fan can be removed from an old Soviet vacuum cleaner. It can also be used from a modern one, but its connection scheme is quite complicated, so a problem may arise here.

    We use the same nichrome thread as the heating part. To fix it in the pipe, it is recommended to take an asbestos sheet, which is cut into strips, and a kind of lattice is made from them. A spiral is installed and attached to the grate. Then the grid is fixed to the inner surface of the pipe so that it stands across. The strips should not be very large to ensure good air permeability through the grate.

    Classic type

    And a few more tips:

    1. Install a switch that will close and open the electrical network.
    2. Install fuses on the coil and fan. On the coil - 25A, on the fan - 6A. By the way, you can not buy a fuse for a fan, but remove it from the same vacuum cleaner.

    Such a homemade electric heat gun can heat a room up to 50 m². If you need a more powerful unit, you will have to install a fan made of an electric motor and a fan impeller into the device. The spiral in this case can be strengthened by using not one, but two or three. Then you have to correlate the speed of rotation of the rotor of the electric motor and the heating temperature of the spirals.

    The apparent simplicity of the design and assembly of the heat gun can cause errors. Therefore, evaluate your skills in working with tools, as well as materials and devices that are included in the device of the heating unit. An electric heat gun is a source of fire, short circuits and injury if a mistake has been made in some part of it.

    So advice - buy finished structure, which is assembled according to all safety requirements. If the desire to make a heat gun yourself is very great, then try to carry out all the processes carefully. Do not rush, do not fuss, do everything carefully, double-check the reliability of fasteners and connections. This will be the guarantee of quality. A do-it-yourself heat gun must meet all the requirements safe operation heating device.
