I was looking for a used backup diesel boiler. My main heating closes on electricity and a fireplace with a water jacket Optima Aqua 700Sh. Diesel is needed to support TA in very coldy and in case of a power outage (connected via an uninterruptible Smart UPS 3000VA).

There are few offers on the secondary market, starting from 15 tr. (at the price of a new 30 tr.), but occasionally there are offers for 10 tr. Most often, happy homeowners who have been supplied with gas get rid of diesel boilers. Therefore, the condition of the boilers is quite good, they have worked for 1-2 seasons.

And then one day I turned up Kiturami Turbo 30R (35 kW) for 7 tr. I examined it and bought it. I brought it home, tied it to CO, put a 200l plastic fuel barrel, replaced the fuel filters and 1 fuel line hose.

The boiler began to give error 01 at startup. Error 01 means that there is no ignition of the fuel. I rummaged through the Internet and formulated "troubleshooting", i.e. how to solve this problem step by step:

  1. We check the voltage in the network. The voltage should be standard 220-230 V ().
  2. Checking the fuel line. There must be no air leakage at the fuel supply to the fuel pump of the boiler.
  3. We check the fuel filter. The fuel filter may be clogged, making it difficult to supply fuel in the proper amount. If clogged, replace the fuel filter.
  4. We check that the fuel does not flow by gravity (relevant for boilers 21R, 30R).
  5. Possibly poor fuel quality. Change the fuel, or try to close the choke and apply a richer mixture. The damper is located on the left end of the burner (see diagrams below).
  6. We check the flame control sensor (photocell). The sensor can be pulled out of the burner body by turning it along the axis (see diagrams below). Wipe clean with a dry cloth, the protective cover from the end should be perfectly transparent. If the front cover is removed, the photocell may react to extraneous light and give an error.
  7. We check, clean (or change) the nozzle and ignition electrodes. They can be reached by removing the entire burner from the combustion chamber flange (see diagrams below).
  8. We check the operation of the ignition transformer. It should give a spark to the ignition electrodes (I don’t know how to check the spark, I haven’t reached this stage of troubleshooting).

I stopped at stage 5. He covered the air damper with his hand and the boiler started up. Obviously, the turbine simply blew diesel fuel into the combustion chamber with such force that the electrodes simply could not ignite it. Excess fuel after stopping the boiler with error 01 seeped through the burner flange. Using the method of scientific poke, I adjusted this damper so that the boiler starts at the next cycle without error.

The problem that I have not yet been able to overcome is condensation in the chimney. During a cold start, there was so much of it that a sickly puddle flowed onto the floor. It flowed both through the chimney steam trap and through the elbow that comes from the boiler.
