What type of fan is the quietest. We remove air quickly and efficiently: silent duct fans for exhaust. Prices, characteristics of modern models, recommendations for the right purchase

The Spanish company Soler&Palau, in continuation of its constant work on reducing the noise level in fans, presents a novelty: a unique duct fan TD-SILENT.

The problem of increased noise level in places of permanent residence of people is especially relevant in modern world. The requirements for comfort in these premises are growing, the requirements are becoming more stringent normative documentation. Ventilation systems, along with providing fresh air and comfort in the room, they bring their part of the noise into our lives.

At the stage of modeling a new fan, the developers faced simple tasks, because it was necessary to achieve unprecedentedly low noise levels and surpass the fans of the TD-MIXVENT series. Soler&Palau engineers solved this problem. Thanks to the use of a fundamentally new fan layout and high-quality materials, the noise level of TD-SILENT is lower than that of the closest analogues by 12 dB(A).

The heart of the fan is an impeller with diagonal blades and an electric motor located in a special casing. To significantly reduce the noise level, the designers created a double housing with a layer of special noise-absorbing material. The inner, perforated body transmits sound waves, directing them at a certain angle to a layer of noise-absorbing material, in which sound waves are damped by almost 100%. The transmission of vibrations from the fan housing to the air duct is prevented by special quick-release clamps with rubber seals. TD-SILENT fans are made of high quality plastic. For ease of installation and maintenance, the fan is made of two parts: a mounting bracket and a fan housing attached to it.

The housing can be installed in any position relative to the fan axis, which, together with the rotating terminal box, makes connecting the fan to the power supply network quick and convenient.

The lineup fans TD-SILENT consists of five standard sizes, with connecting diameters from 100 to 200 and air flow from 180 to 1100 m3/h. Factory warranty for TD-SILENT series fans is 5 years.

Duct fans allow to maintain an optimal microclimate in homes and industrial premises. They represent electrical devices consisting of a housing, a motor and an impeller. The main task of the duct fan is to move air masses along the ventilation ducts. This may be the removal of polluted air from the room or the organization of the influx of masses from the street. In each case, a device with a certain set of technical characteristics is required. Expert advice will help you make the right choice.

How to choose a duct fan

  1. The size. First of all, you should decide on the size and shape of the bends. The easiest way to do this is when the ventilation system is already installed. For round pipes a duct fan with outlets of the same shape and suitable diameter is selected. In the case of square or rectangular shafts, it is better to buy appropriate fans.
  2. Performance. The second important parameter is performance. The technical specifications indicate such an indicator as air exchange. It can fluctuate between 100-2000 cubic meters. m/h For a private house, a duct fan with a capacity of 100-500 cubic meters looks optimal. m/h But for trading and commercial premises more powerful models (1000-2000 m3/h) are required.
  3. Engine power is not always directly proportional to productivity. The more powerful the motor, the easier it is to pump air, the less the load on its components and parts. The power range ranges from 10 to 500 W, it is better to choose models with a small margin. For example, if the project specifies a 130 W fan, then it is optimal to install a 150-160 W model.
  4. Noise level. For residential premises, an urgent problem after installation ventilation system the appliance may become noisy. Manufacturers indicate the noise level in dB (15-100). Many users, in their experience, consider electrical appliances with a noise level of up to 40 dB to be low-noise models. Higher sound load starts to strain, especially when the duct fan is located directly in the room.
  5. materials. As for the materials that are used in the manufacture of devices, most often manufacturers use plastic and metal. Steel cases and impellers are considered more reliable, but they weigh more and cost more. Plastic products win in silent operation, lightness and low price. Owners of private houses prefer to buy them, despite their lower strength.

Various types of fans are used to provide forced air extraction from the room. They are used when it is necessary to get rid of excessive moisture, bad smell or just create the right microclimate. Silent duct fans are installed directly into the air duct and are effective for use in the bathroom, toilet or kitchen.

Different models of devices can differ significantly from each other in a number of characteristics. For example, these may be differences in the shape of the case:

  1. - mounted in round ventilation ducts, are the most common option for use in the kitchen or in the bathroom.
  2. Rectangular duct fans - installed in ventilation shafts with a rectangular or square section. As a rule, industrial fans are rectangular in shape, which are characterized by increased power.
  3. Square - just like rectangular exhaust axial fans, they are designed for installation in a square air duct shaft and are distinguished by high operating power. They are also often used for industrial purposes.

Duct devices for extracting air are distinguished by design features.

Axial- have a body in the form of a cylinder, inside of which there is a fan with blades mounted on the axis of an electric motor. With this design, air masses move along the axis of the device, and a special collector is often installed at the inlet, which improves the aerodynamic characteristics of the device. Of the advantages of axial fans for exhaust hoods, one can single out quite high efficiency– over 100 m³ of air per hour.

In addition, axial models are characterized by ease of installation, which is why they are often installed in the ventilation openings of bathrooms or kitchens. The disadvantages include low pressure characteristics and a high noise level - about 30-50 dB.

Radial- have a spiral body, inside of which there is a paddle wheel. When it rotates, the air masses move in the radial direction, the air is compressed under the action of centrifugal force and leaves the housing. The blades of the radial device can be directed back or forward, in the first case, during operation, the savings are up to 20% of electricity, and the noise of the device is significantly reduced. Forward curved blades increase fan power. Radial models are compact in size, so they can be easily installed in almost any duct.

Centrifugal- a relatively new model that has already gained great popularity among users. Centrifugal exhaust fans are well suited for installation in rooms larger than 15 m², they are characterized by high power and almost silent operation. The advantage of a centrifugal fan is that it can be installed not only in front of the air intake, but also in the middle of the ventilation shaft.

Helpful advice! If you prefer a centrifugal fan, then it is better to install it directly in the ventilation shaft, so its efficiency will be much higher, and condensation and dust will not accumulate on the device.

There are also specialized models such as smoke exhaust and explosion-proof fans. Axial smoke exhaust fans are designed to move air masses in which there is a certain amount of impurities. This is a good option not only for industrial premises but also for kitchens where large quantities of food are often prepared. In addition, these models of hoods are characterized by high power and allow you to quickly extract steam and smoke from the room.

Explosion-proof axial fan is designed primarily for the organization of forced air exhaust with combustible or explosive impurities. Such models are rarely used in everyday life, but they are very popular in enterprises where there is an increased risk of fire or work with explosive substances.

What parameters you need to pay attention to before buying a fan for the hood

Before purchasing an exhaust device that will provide forced movement of air masses in the bathroom, toilet or kitchen, you should pay attention to the following parameters.

Fan performance. This parameter is calculated using a fairly simple formula. To do this, you need to multiply the volume of the room by the frequency of air exchange. The last indicator means the number of air changes per hour. The multiplicity directly depends on the type of room and is 6 for a bathroom used by up to 3 people, 8 for more than three and up to 10 for a toilet.

At the same time, when choosing a silent exhaust fan, always take a product with a slightly overestimated performance. For example, the performance of a device installed in a bathroom should be 95-100 m³ / h.

The amount of noise produced by the device during operation. Any always makes mechanical and aerodynamic noise. The first is the noise from the operation of the electric motor, created by its vibration, which is transmitted to the air duct, the second is the noise from the movement of air masses. Silent duct fans are models whose operation noise does not exceed 25 dB. An indicator exceeding the threshold of 35 dB is already noticeably annoying, so you should not install a device with such characteristics in a residential area.

A silent duct fan can be made even quieter if a special muffler is installed right behind the case, and the ventilation shaft is finished with a material with high soundproofing characteristics.

Design safety. This refers to the level of protection against moisture and dust. This is especially true if you purchase a duct fan for a rectangular duct to the bathroom or kitchen, where high humidity. Moisture inside the case can cause a short circuit, so it is better to immediately purchase models with water protection. In addition, an additional protection can be the purchase of a device that operates at a low voltage of 24 V.

Extractor functionality. This refers to the fan operation mode - automatic or standard. Standard axial supply fans turn on at the same time as the lights in the room turn on and are well suited for rooms that do not have too high humidity levels. Otherwise, the device simply will not cope with the air extraction. The automatic hood is equipped with a timer that turns the appliance on and off.

In addition, the automatic fan design can include a humidity sensor, which is very convenient for the bathroom. The price of an axial extractor fan will be higher than a standard one, however, such improvements will allow you to more effectively and quickly get rid of excess moisture in the room.

Device quality. If you need a really high-quality exhaust fan, then you should pay attention to whether it matches international standards. For example, the minimum acceptable protection class of the device is IP 34.

When choosing a hood device, give preference to models that have already proven themselves in the market and are popular among buyers.

Choosing a kitchen hood fan

The appliance installed in the kitchen is somewhat different in its characteristics from the fan, which is suitable for installation in the bathroom. The main difference is that the kitchen is the source of odors. Therefore, if you do not want smells from a neighboring apartment to penetrate into the kitchen, it is recommended to install a model with check valve. This design will not allow air to enter the room when the hood is turned off.

Also, when buying an exhaust fan for the kitchen, pay attention to the fact that it can withstand exposure to high temperatures and high humidity. This is especially true if you mount the device in close proximity to cooker. The cooker hood can be controlled with a remote control remote control, a special cord, and it is also possible to turn on simultaneously with lighting. It is most convenient to choose the remote option. You can also purchase a model with a built-in presence sensor that will be triggered when you enter the room.

Instead of a duct supply and exhaust axial fan for the kitchen, such a type of hood as a window hood can also be used. Household window exhaust fan differs from other models in that it is built into the window structure or even cut directly into the glass. The disadvantage of this option is drafts in the room, if its design does not provide for a check valve. Today, window fans are not very popular, giving way to more convenient duct models.

The price of silent duct fans 100 mm and other models

The cost of an air extractor depends on many factors, such as its size, power, performance, material from which the housing is made. Thus, devices in a steel case are several times more expensive than those in a plastic one. On average, the price of a household fan in a plastic housing for extractor hoods in a bathroom, kitchen or toilet starts at 1,000 rubles. More complex models designed for operation at high and low temperatures, for high pressure and other extreme conditions, can cost 2000-3000 rubles or more.

Extractor fans with a check valve and other extras are also more expensive than standard models.

Installing a Silent Household Exhaust Fan

Before proceeding with the installation of the device, it is imperative to check the operability of the ventilation system in the room. To do this, you need to bring a lit match to the vent or attach a piece of paper. In the first case, the flame should deviate towards the hood, and in the second case, the sheet should be held on the hole due to the air flow. If this does not happen, then you definitely need an exhaust fan, since the air will not be removed from the room naturally.

After that, you should decide on the place where the axial fan will be installed for exhaust ventilation or other model. It is best to mount the device under the ceiling, as hot and humid air always rises.

Helpful advice! Choosing the type of fan is also based on the installation location. Not every model is suitable for installation, for example, in a horizontal position or at an angle.

When installing the device, the following points should be taken into account:

  • it is best to proceed with the installation of the fan in the process of repair;
  • the wiring that goes from the power source to the hood should be hidden in a special box or even carried out under plaster;
  • if we are talking about the fan in the toilet, it is most convenient to connect it directly to the light switch;
  • if you want to reduce the level of vibrations, as well as protect the supply and exhaust fan from external influences, then you can mount the device in plastic pipe, pre-fixed in the vent with cement, polyurethane foam or building sealant;

  • in the toilet, the greatest efficiency of the fan will be ensured if it is installed under the ceiling directly above the toilet;
  • For an error-free connection of the device to the mains, you must first read the instructions attached to it.

Connecting an axial supply and exhaust fan is extremely simple:

  1. The protective cover is removed from the body of the device.
  2. A special adhesive mixture is applied to the fan.
  3. The device is installed in the place prepared for it, tightly pressed for several minutes.
  4. The protective cover is screwed into place.

Remember that the device must fit as tightly as possible to the walls of the duct, otherwise it will hit them during operation, which will lead not only to an increased noise level, but also to premature failure of the device and the need for repair or replacement.

It is also very important to choose a model that will fit as closely as possible in size to the diameter of the ventilation duct. For example, if it is 10 cm, then you will need a 100 mm duct fan model.

Silent duct fans: care features

In order for the hood to last as long as possible, certain operating rules must be observed and regular preventive inspection and cleaning of the device should be carried out. Most often, it is necessary to clean the ventilation grille and fan blades from dust and dirt. In addition, when installing a silent duct fan 125 mm or another model, it is necessary to check the air duct for tightness of the joints. It is in the cracks that dirt most often accumulates, fatty deposits form, and bacteria, fungus and mold multiply.

Blockages in the duct can be removed mechanically or chemically. In the first case, special brushes or just pieces of cloth are used, in the second - cleaning products. In especially neglected cases, it is recommended to remove the fan, completely disassemble it, thoroughly cleaning all parts. Also, for more efficient and reliable operation, filters should be changed regularly, if such a possibility is provided for by the design. It doesn't matter whether it is an axial fan BO 06 300 or another model, systematic cleaning is necessary in any case.

Helpful advice! In order to reduce the need for major cleaning of the device, install a fine mesh on the inlet of the air duct. So, you will protect the fan blades from getting dust and dirt particles on them.

The organization of the forced movement of air masses from the room is very important if there is high humidity or unpleasant odors in the room. It is strongly recommended to install a duct fan in the bathroom, toilet and kitchen. The type of device is selected based on a number of characteristics discussed above.

Ventilation is installed for exhaust in apartment buildings or private houses. And although she does her job, I want to quickly remove moisture from the bathroom or an unpleasant smell from the bathroom. What about steam or the smell of burnt meat in the kitchen? You can install a fan on an exhaust grill, but even quiet devices make noise that is annoying at first, and then completely leads to headaches. The output will be silent duct fans for the hood. Today we will consider their main technical parameters, as well as figure out how they are mounted.

Read in the article:

Where are silent inline exhaust fans used?

Such ventilation devices are used not only to provide exhaust from the kitchen or bathroom. They are used in industrial workshops, in rooms with high dust content, emergency smoke exhaust systems. Industrial exhaust fans are more powerful and larger. But today we will talk about household supply and exhaust devices mounted on separate rooms or on the entire ventilation system of a private house.

Duct fans for exhaust: types, features, differences

There are three types of exhaust fans that differ in design:

  1. Axial– the engine is in the center of the cylinder. It rotates the impeller, which moves the air flow along the axis. Such devices are easy to install (often installed on a kitchen or bathroom hood) and provide good air exchange - about 100 m³ / h. Among the shortcomings, we note the presence of noise of about 30 ÷ 50 dB.
  2. Radial or centrifugal exhaust fan– these types of devices are similar. An impeller is installed in the housing, the blades of which are located not across, but along the channel. When the wheel rotates, a centrifugal force is created that sucks or blows air masses into the room. The power and performance of such devices is higher. They are capable of pumping up to 15 m³/min. If an axial fan is installed in only one room, then a powerful centrifugal or radial fan will ensure the exhaust of the entire private house.

Helpful information! If there is more than two meters from the ventilation device to the exhaust opening, the axial fan will not be able to provide air exchange. Only centrifugal or radial.

How an exhaust duct fan works: a schematic diagram

Silent duct fan consists of four main parts:

  • an impeller that moves air masses;
  • an electric motor that rotates it;
  • a housing in which an impeller with an electric motor is placed;
  • bearings - provide soft, silent rotation.

High-quality bearings - the key to long-term operation of the ventilation device

In addition to bearings, noiselessness is ensured by precise balancing at the factory. Manufacturer tests finished goods. If the noise is exceeded, the device is rejected, it is not supplied to the retail network.

Expert opinion

HVAC design engineer (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) LLC "ASP North-West"

Ask a specialist

“The designation “silent” is not quite right. It will not work to reduce the sound of a running engine to 0 dB. Such devices emit noise up to 25 dB, inaudible to the human ear.”

The electric motors of such devices are no different from conventional ones. Noiselessness of work is reached by reliable fixing. If you purchase a fake (fake), the mount will loosen over time, which will lead to an increase in vibration and, as a result, an increase in noise.

Lubrication in bearings also plays a role. If cheap grease is used, it will quickly work out. This will lead first to an increase in noise, and then to wear of the balls and seats.

Technical characteristics of devices for ventilation

When choosing a device for extracting into a ventilation duct, you should pay attention to some parameters.

CharacteristicDescription
Noise levelDuring operation, the devices make noise. Here, this parameter should not exceed 25 dB. If the case is covered with sound-absorbing material, the noise figure will decrease.
Electrical protection class (IP)The higher this indicator (the protection class is indicated on the packaging and in the technical documentation), the more aggressive the environment in which it is possible to use the device.
Amount of pumped air (capacity)The parameter depends on the number of people living or the purpose of the room. For an accurate calculation, the total volume of the room (rooms) is multiplied by the multiplier:

for ordinary rooms with three residents - 3;

for bathrooms - 6;

for bathrooms - 10.

Availability of additional functionsTurning on the device can be done not only in manual mode. These can be light, motion or humidity sensors.

Helpful information! Despite the role played by the cost of equipment, it is worth paying more attention to technical characteristics. Even a small amount spent on an unsuitable device is money thrown to the wind in the truest sense of the word.

Geometric parameters and dimensions of duct fans for exhaust

The shape of such devices are round, rectangular or square. The choice will depend on the shape of the ventilation duct. After all, it is clear that it is problematic to install a duct fan for a round duct into a square one, and it is completely impossible to install a square device into a pipe.

The sizes of such devices are different. Common ones include:

  • duct fans 200 mm;
  • exhaust fans 100 mm;
  • duct fans 125 mm.

Such dimensions are not accidental - they coincide with the dimensions of the ventilation shafts apartment buildings and boxes produced in Russia.

Selection criteria for silent duct fans for exhaust

When choosing such equipment, you should pay attention to the quality of the product. The edges should be smooth, without scuffs and sags. Do not hesitate to ask the seller about the quality of the goods, whether there were returns. It is necessary to carefully study the technical documentation and the certificate of conformity.

Helpful advice! Demand to fill out the warranty card in front of your eyes. The store is obliged to put its stamp on it with you. If it is already affixed, it is possible that this ventilation unit was sold but returned for some reason.

Silent exhaust fans in the bathroom, in the kitchen or in all rooms, you need to check when buying. Ask a consultant to turn on the device in the network with you. This way you can be sure that the product is working. After all, if you give it back for warranty repairs, you can wait a long time for a return, which means that the installation of the ventilation system will stop.

Pay attention to the body of the device. It should not have chips, cracks, scratches or dents. The packaging must not be damaged.

Equipping silent duct fans for exhaust: basic and additional functions

The main function of the ventilation device is to remove moisture, unpleasant odors or to bring fresh air into the room. For this reason, it is worth paying attention to power and performance. These parameters determine how well the device will perform the work.

But in addition to the main functions, you should not lose sight of the additional ones. Housewives are faced with the fact that from air vent smells from neighbors get into the apartment. When the fan is on, this is not possible, but what if it is off? For such cases, an exhaust fan with a check valve is installed, which shuts off the air supply, opening only to the exhaust.

Convenient exhaust fan for the kitchen, equipped with a humidity and temperature sensor, which turns on only when necessary, which saves energy. The reverse function will also be useful. These quiet range hoods for kitchens, bathrooms or all rooms can be switched to fresh air mode.

Rules for installing a silent exhaust fan

Duct ventilation devices are mounted in the gap of the duct. For installation, a part of the ventilation duct is removed according to the size of the device. The fan is dismantled, diffusers located on both sides are removed from it, which are fastened with clamps or rubber couplings to the air duct. After that, a fan is mounted in the remaining gap.

Connecting a silent duct fan to a 220 V network varies depending on the number of speeds. If there are 2 contacts in the terminal box, then everything is clear - zero and phase (one speed). But three contacts speak of a two-speed device with two impellers. In this case, the neutral wire goes to the “N” terminal, and the “L1” and “L2” contacts are separated by speeds. You need to decide what speed of rotation of the blades you need. "L1" is the maximum speed, and "L2" is the minimum, which is 60% of "L1".

Maintenance of silent duct fans during operation

If you properly and timely maintain the equipment, it will last much longer. More often than other nodes, the ventilation grill is clogged. When it is clogged, it becomes difficult for the engine to turn the blades, under load it heats up, the winding burns out. The blades also require periodic cleaning. Sometimes, to clean the impeller, the fan has to be dismantled. However, it is better to spend some time and effort on cleaning than to subsequently acquire a new one. ventilation device instead of burned out.

The air duct itself also requires cleaning - fat settles on the walls, to which dust sticks. It is not always possible to clean such dirt with a vacuum cleaner. The joints of ventilation ducts are especially vulnerable. If cleaning is not done in time, dust and grease clumps come off the walls and fall into the fan blades. This leads to jamming and failure of the device.

Is it possible to repair a duct fan with your own hands

If the electric motor fails, it will not work to rewind the stator or rotor winding on its own. Having determined this malfunction with a multimeter, the home master has to rewrite the device data and go to the electrical store in the hope of finding suitable spare parts. There is another option - online stores where you can find everything. We'll have to wait a while until they send the right one, but this purchase will cost less. The same applies to worn out bearings or a broken impeller.

Wiring faults can be fixed quickly, but basic wiring skills are required.

Very important! If a wiring fault is detected, the voltage should be removed by turning off the introductory machine, and only after that proceed with the repair. Remember defeat electric shock life threatening!

If there is the slightest doubt that the home master will be able to fix the problem on his own, it is better to seek help from professionals. After all, no self-respecting master will undertake the repair of equipment that has been dismantled before by another person.

Summarize

Proper organization of the ventilation system in an apartment or a private house is good. But the natural option does not always cope with the task. By arranging forced ventilation using a silent exhaust or supply, you can be sure that dampness or an unpleasant smell in the living room will not linger.

Inline fans of TD series designed specifically to work with long ducts and in conditions of increased requirements for the noise level in the room where they are installed. This type of fans has the advantages of centrifugal fans (high outlet pressure) and the advantages of axial fans (high air flow, low noise level and overall dimensions).

Fans of the TD series are designed for installation in ventilation ducts. Fasteners are supplied with the fan. Both vertical and horizontal mounting is possible. Fans of the TD series (with the designation T) have a built-in shutdown delay timer from 1 to 30 minutes. They have one maximum speed.
Fans of the TD series models 160 - 2000 have two speeds and, if necessary, can be connected via a REGUL-2 speed switch (specially designed for fans of the TD series). Fan models TD 4000/355 and TD 6000/400 have one speed. The rotation speed can be changed by connecting an RMB type transformer to the fan.
Together with fans of the TD series, it is possible to use an external air humidity control sensor HIG-2 or an air quality control sensor SQA.
The fan housings are made of high strength plastic, except for models 800,1000,1300 and 2000 which have an epoxy coated steel housing.
The fan impeller blades are molded from durable ABS plastic, with the exception of models 1000, 1300 and 2000, which are made of galvanized steel.
Electric motor:
models 160, 250, 350 have:
single-phase asynchronous electric motor with a short-circuited rotor made of cast aluminum;
protection against overheating (fuse);
self-lubricating one-piece bearings;
protection class IP 44.
models 500, 1000, 1300, 2000, 4000 and 6000 have:
single-phase asynchronous electric motor with permanent capacitor and outer rotor made of cast aluminum;
overheating protection (built-in, self-resetting thermal fuse);
sealed ball bearing assembly;
protection class IP 44.

S&P introduces a novelty to the fan market: a unique duct fan TD-SILENT. designed specifically for ventilation systems with the most stringent noise requirements. Soler&Palau engineers solved the problem of a new fan, achieving unprecedented low noise levels and surpassing TD-MIXVENT series fans. Due to the use of a fundamentally new fan layout and high-quality materials, the noise level of TD-SILENT is lower than that of the closest analogues by 12 dB(A) . Impeller with diagonal blades and an electric motor located in a special casing. The model range of TD-SILENT fans is presented in seven standard sizes, with diameters from 100 to 315 and air flow from 180 to 1770 m3/h

The quietest low profile duct fans in the world. When developing duct fans TD SILENT were used Newest technologies in the field of computer modeling of products and plastics production. The material used in the manufacture of the fan allows vibration damping. Inner case of duct fans TD SILENT, a special design, reflects sound waves at a certain angle, which are then captured by a layer of noise-absorbing material. It allows you to dampen the noise during the entire time the fan is running. Sound waves generated inside a fan TD SILENT, pass through the inner perforated casing and are damped with a layer of sound-absorbing material.
