Decoration of the aquarium with snags and stones of various types. Interesting options for decorating an aquarium. What are the design rules

Aquarium design. It would seem that there to do that decor? especially my jar of 100 liters. I took pebbles, threw them in, planted grass, like, or go ahead. But no. There are many nuances worth talking about. I'm a noob in this business, so I turned to a specialist. The closest specialist in aquarium design is Anatoly Motrich. Recently we changed everything with him and this is what happened:

It turns out there is another concept about the view of the aquarium. From which side to look at it and what should be observed in the design. On the one hand, I look like this:

From the other side of the aquarium, the design looks completely different. The issue of viewing angle and decor:

Just recently we got an interesting stone in one of the campaigns. We will also carefully fit it into the design of the aquarium. later

So how do you create this very design of an aquarium with your own hands? A few principles and concepts from the Internet further in the article.

To begin with, a zen video about the design of a 100 liter aquarium with your own hands:

On the site myaqua.com.ua, the following types of aquarium design are distinguished.

Types of internal filling of aquariums:

Pseudomore.

A freshwater aquarium that mimics the sea floor. As a rule, corals, shells, ceramics are used in its design. As a primer, coral sand or other light-colored primer. In most cases, the pseudo-sea is populated by bright cichlids, which are closest to the color marine life coral reef.

Unforced herbalist.

A prime example of this type is most beginner aquarists' aquaria with live plants. The composition uses stones, driftwood and living plants. An unforced herbalist looks very natural, which wins over many fans. As a rule, such aquariums are quite densely populated with fish, most of the characins, carps and cyprinids will become its ideal inhabitants.

Forced herbalist.

The use of CO2, the regular addition of fertilizers and trace elements all create an underwater garden of incredible beauty. Whether it's the Dutch Aquarium or natural aquarium Takashi Amano, plants play the main role in his composition. Also, snags and stones are used as decorations. Fish in such an aquarium play a secondary role or may be absent. As a rule, these are flocks of small characins. Also, the forced herbalist is often populated with shrimps.

Story Aquarium.

The internal content of such an aquarium is selected for any plot. A pirate ship lying at the bottom, a sunken Atlantis, or Dracula's castle, or maybe even a football stadium for fish. It all depends on your imagination.

Aquarium - "Vanguard".

Explosion of bright colors and unusual shapes. Such an aquarium simply cannot go unnoticed. This bright spot in any interior will simply attract the eye, and when correct selection hydrobionts and setting up biobalance, its inhabitants will not feel any discomfort associated with its unnaturalness.

Biotope Aquarium.

An aquarium that mimics any natural biotope. Whether coastal zone Lake Tanganika, or the Amazon Delta, all the filling of the aquarium, starting from the ground and ending with fish and plants, must strictly repeat the biotope you have chosen. Such an aquarium is the most comfortable for its inhabitants and has many admirers.

Aquarium for large show fish.

Large volume and minimalism in the scenery - this is the main motto of such an aquarium. Show fish is always in demand. It delights with its size and shape, whether it is an Aravan, a Challenger or a knife, such a fish simply cannot go unnoticed.

Industrial Aquarium.

In such an aquarium, decorations and design ideas give way to practicality. As a rule, without soil and decorations, with a convenient water supply and intensive aeration.

Marine aquarium without live corals.

Such an aquarium will delight the eye from the contemplation of its inhabitants. The decor of such an aquarium is similar to the decor of a pseudo-sea or is completely absent.

Marine aquarium with live corals "Reef".

A complete marine aquarium with a very fine biobalance. The reef is truly the king of aquariums, the bright colors of its inhabitants make it unforgettable. Contemplating such an aquarium, one gets the impression that one is plunging into the deep and mysterious depths of the ocean. Such an aquarium will emphasize the good taste and status of its owner.

When designing an aquarium, it is important to understand the basic principles that have come out of the iwagumi technique. Each stone used in decoration has its own name and place. From which country the names originated, you have already guessed. So, the basic postulates when designing an aquarium ...

Theoretical foundations of competent design

Oyaishi(Oyishi)

This is the main stone used in the design of the aquarium. For him, choose the largest and beautiful stone. By large is meant a stone, the largest of those that you set aside for decorating an aquarium. No need to just take the biggest boulder off the road. The height of this stone should be 2/3 of the height of the aquarium.

Fukuishi(Fukuishi)

This is the second largest stone from the composition. You need to place it to the left or right of the main stone, from the oyashi. The stone should be of the same structure as the oyashi in order to achieve a uniform decoration scene in the aquarium.

Soeishi(Soishi)

this stone is smaller, much smaller than the previous two. It should be laid to the right of oiishi and to the left of fukuishi. Its task is to emphasize the beauty and magnificence of those stones that you have selected for decoration as the main ones.

Suteishi(Shuteishi)

This small stone is almost lost in the overall design of the aquarium, it can be completely hidden by plants. But its presence is necessary to emphasize sophistication and simple elegance.

Aquarium styles. Sanzon Iwagumi

This is the main composition, with a large stone in the center of the scene of our design, and two smaller ones on the right and left, respectively.

How many stones should be: seven, five or three

The main postulate in the design of the aquarium, through the Iwagumi technique, it is considered better to have an odd number of stones. An even number of stones leads to symmetry, which splits the perception of design.

The decoration of the aquarium looks more attractive if the balance of the center is shifted a little to the side.

What the pictures actually show:

Why is the Oyishi stone tilted?

Without going into Buddhist and other philosophies, the oyishi stone is tilted to the side to symbolize the current flow of water.

As a design element, it looks very effective.

Do-it-yourself aquarium design layout

1. Lay a thin and even layer of substrate, soil. This is one of the differences between the Iwagumi technique and others, where the soil is poured all at once.

2. Place the main oyishi stone according to the golden ratio. A beautiful setting can be created by placing the main stone in golden ratio 1:1.618. Roughly speaking, two to three.

3. Lay the remaining stones, observing the direction of their angles and orientation.

4. Backfill the soil, distributing it from rear wall aquarium to the front.

Planting Key Points

Visually aquatic plants soften the hardness of rocks, and are used to create a balance in the power of stones. But, undersized plants will emphasize this very power of stones. Also, planting plants next to or between stones enhances the natural feel of your decor.

On the website pozitiv-news.ru I saw 45 the best views aquarium design. This is a breathtaking sight! Look at the photo! Of course, there is room for improvement...

Aquarium decoration - interesting, but enough difficult process not only for the beginner, but also for the professional aquarist. It has its own features and recommendations, which it is advisable to familiarize yourself with before proceeding with the design. Let us consider in more detail the main points and main elements of decor.

The soil in a freshwater aquarium should be dark in color; on a light one, the fish lose their bright color. Choose a suitable substrate and carefully place it on the bottom with a plastic spatula or a cut plastic bottle. If there are plants in the aquarium, sprinkle the bacterial culture before laying the soil. In the future, it will promote the growth of plants. And use several layers of different substrate (sand, coarse and medium gravel). Styrofoam sheets should be placed under heavy decorations or stones. Pour the soil carefully and only into a clean aquarium without water. Make a slight slope towards the front wall. The height of the soil near the rear wall should be 5-7 cm, in some places up to 12 cm, near the front wall - 5 mm -15 mm. It is convenient to use a wooden spatula to level the substrate. If desired, you can make a light strip on dark ground. Before backfilling light gravel or sand, separate the borders of the strip with two sheets of cardboard. Pull them out very carefully. The background in the aquarium can be external and internal. The easiest option is roll film. It is sold in specialized stores by the footage. It comes in different heights and with a variety of patterns. You can also use plastic, paper, cork tiles as an external background, or simply paint the glass in dark colors. The interior background is always set before the aquarium is filled. It is made from special plates that are glued to silicone directly to glass or an additional substrate. This process is longer and requires certain skills, but the result is worth it. Shells are not the best solution for all fish. They contain calcium, affect water hardness and acidity. Any items that you buy at a pet store can be placed in the aquarium. The main thing is that they are made of safe materials (ceramics, clay, porcelain). Don't be afraid to experiment and put things in unnatural positions. As a decor, you can use pipes for supplying drinking water.

The driftwood in the aquarium looks very beautiful, but they need to be properly prepared. Choose a dense, already dry branch. Any tree will do, with the exception of oak. Oak strongly stains the water. Now clean the driftwood from the remnants of the bark, saw off or break off the excess parts. Boil the branch for 12-24 hours. Change the water periodically. You can add potassium permanganate or salt. Let it cool in the open air and lay it on the bottom of the aquarium. It is better if this is in the process of preparing the aquarium, when there are no plants yet. It is worth noting that any snag will soften the water and give it a slight brown tint.

A day or two after setting up the aquarium and checking the equipment, you can start the first inhabitants (a couple of snails, shrimp or newts). Fish are allowed in no earlier than a week later.

In addition to the fact that a beautifully designed aquarium is the dream of every lover of pet fish, it is also original way decorate the room. It can act both as a room decoration and serve as a stylish partition for zoning space. To turn this interior element into a real work of art, you need to familiarize yourself with the principles and styles of decorating an aquarium with your own hands.

Modern aquariums are not only a corner of wildlife, but a full-fledged work of art in your home.

Basic aquarium design styles

dutch style

This trend originated in the Netherlands in the thirties of the last century, and since then has managed to acquire a large number of followers. Commonly used a large number of different types of plants (10-12), which are planted in groups from the back of the aquarium to the front.

In the Dutch style, plants are usually divided into three groups: plants of the foreground, middle and background.

A certain plant should grow on every ten square centimeters of the bottom - this makes it possible for the plants not to shade or cover each other. The Dutch direction in aquarism implies an emphasis on green, brown and red algae.

The combination of green and pink plants creates a wonderfully soothing contrast.

Japanese rock garden

An aquarium in this style fits perfectly into minimalist and high-tech interiors. The focus is on space and feeling free space. Stones of unusual shapes and not too lush algae are used. Usually there are four stones in the aquarium, each of which has a symbolic meaning: the main one, two additional ones and the so-called sacrificial stone. It is recommended to use stones that are similar in shape and texture.

A flock of small fish swimming above the fragments of rocks creates a feeling of freedom and spaciousness.

Sea style

Corals, shells, reef fragments come from the sea or ocean. You can also use decor in the form of miniature sunken schooners and treasure chests. The use of cold fluorescent lamps is encouraged, giving a pale blue light.

Marine aquariums are considered to be the most picturesque of all types of aquariums.

Collector style

It is supposed to use a large number of different types of plants (from fifteen), which can grow not only in groups, but also in a chaotic manner. Unlike its Dutch counterpart, the collector style involves the use of any, not just stem plants.

Among freshwater aquariums, the collector style is the most common.

The main elements of the design of the aquarium

Priming

Most often, sand, crushed volcanic rock, basalt, gravel, gneiss, granite, porphyry act as a substrate for an aquarium. The choice of one or another type of soil should be based on the properties of its composition: the more stones containing calcium in it, the harder the water will be as a result.

Light soil reflects light well, which greatly enhances the composition.

freshwater shrimp different colors look very interesting

Tip: to check the suitability of the substrate, use acetic acid, which must be dropped onto the pebble. If the vinegar foams and hisses, then the stone contains lime - such material is not suitable for decorating an aquarium.

Today you can create a model of almost any body of water in the world at home

Clean, clear water, light soil and goldfish will create an amazing and beautiful picture.

If you want to decorate the home of the fish with stones found by yourself, boil them before lowering the find into the aquarium.

Multi-colored fish look very impressive against the background of driftwood and light soil.

Using well-chosen stones and any carpet plant, you will get a beautiful minimalist design.

Background

The easiest way to decorate the back wall of the aquarium is to use a film that is sold at any pet store and is attached to double-sided tape. You can also use Javanese moss, driftwood, purchased miniature castles or statues to decorate the background.

Thanks to the film applied on the back wall, your underwater design will look completely finished.

The background perfectly imitates a natural sheer cliff.

snags

Wooden elements are needed in the aquarium not only to decorate it, but to create shelters for the fish. Of course, you can buy ready-made driftwood at the pet store, but it is much more interesting to prepare it yourself. And for the inhabitants of your indoor water world, this will be much more useful, since some fish do not feel comfortable in hard water, and natural driftwood can soften it.

A wooden driftwood can serve perfectly central element the whole composition

Tip: when designing an aquarium with your own hands, not every piece of wood found in a nearby park can be used. For example, it is better to refuse oak, as its wood produces tannins that strongly stain the water. A rotten or rotten snag is not suitable for decorating an aquarium.

A magnificent imitation of underwater roots is created by well-chosen snags.

Preparing driftwood for immersion in an aquarium boils down to the following:

  • you need to peel it off the remnants of the bark;
  • saw off or chop loose areas;
  • place the snag in a container of water and boil with the addition of a small amount of potassium permanganate. The heat treatment time depends on the size of the driftwood;
  • so that the wooden decoration does not float to the surface of the aquarium, it is advised to add a large amount of salt to the water (the salt should stop dissolving) and boil the driftwood for about an hour. After boiling, you need to rinse it from salt and let it cool at room temperature.

When the snag is ready, it is placed in the aquarium. It is advisable to do this before planting the plants and filling the tank with water.

Three elements of the core of the whole composition - soil, stones and driftwood are already waiting for the aquarium to be filled with water.

Red discus look great against the background of white sand and driftwood of juicy woody color.

java moss

This plant is able to give aquarium decor elements a touch of completeness and naturalness. Java moss is easy to care for and easy to grow. The only thing it requires for normal growth is an established carbon dioxide supply system.

Java moss is used to create vegetation on an underwater floating island

As for the degree of illumination of the aquarium, Java moss takes root in any light. If its level is low, the moss has a light shade and elongated shape. With sufficient lighting, it will have a more accurate shape and dense structure.

Thanks to Javanese moss, numerous crowns of the underwater landscape have been created.

Tip: when planting Javanese moss on stones or driftwood, you can fix it with cotton thread or fishing line: the first will rot over time, the second will remain forever, but will not be visible due to its transparency.

An underwater bonsai is created from a suitable shape of driftwood and a crown of Javanese moss

underwater waterfall

How to arrange an aquarium with your own hands in such a way that it is guaranteed to attract attention? You can use the waterfall effect in it. Of course, this is just an illusion, but the effect of it is simply stunning.

The waterfall effect is created thanks to the contrasting white vein in the dark-colored stone.

To create an underwater waterfall, you will need a tube with a constantly supplied air and fine clean sand. The illusion of falling water is achieved by the movement of grains of sand, which are blown out by the air stream.

The whole composition plays an important role in creating the illusion of a waterfall.

Decoration of the aquarium 200 liters

A two hundred liter aquarium is good because all styles are suitable for its design - due to its large dimensions, such a water tank will not seem too full of decorative details, even if it is a Dutch or collector style design. Microsorum, Anubiasbarterivar, Caladiifolia and Pogostemonhelferi plants look good in a two hundred liter tank.

The large volume of the aquarium is a great help for design experiments.

A two hundred liter aquarium looks great if you decorate it in a minimalist style. Japanese garden stones, because spacious aquariums are suitable for bringing it to life.

Light stones covered with greenery create the impression of a real mountain landscape.

Decoration of the aquarium 100 liters

It is on such an aquarium that it is easiest for novice lovers of indoor fish to comprehend the basics of aquarism. A 100 liter tank should not be overfilled to keep the water clear longer, so it is better to bet on plants such as Monosolenium, Cladophora and Egeria Densa.

In an aquarium with a volume of 100 liters, it is worth paying special attention not only to design, but also to living inhabitants.

Imitation of the rainforest, created using snags and dense greenery

Green meadow with overhanging thickets

A 100 liter aquarium looks great with a background of dark green Javanese moss, dark gravel and a couple of medium-sized driftwood.

Decoration of the aquarium 50 liters

Since 50-litre tanks are mostly purchased by beginners in the aquarium trade, most pet stores offer these tanks with a ready-made set of accessories. And most often the included lamp for such an aquarium is not powerful enough. That is why slow growing plants that do not need a lot of light are well suited for a small container - in particular, Microsorum.

A small and secluded backwater in your aquarium

Since the volume of a 50 liter aquarium is relatively small, care must be taken to ensure that algae does not grow too much. To do this, you will have to regularly trim them.

Aquariums are an opportunity to create a wonderful world, a world that will delight and soothe you.

findings

Making an aquarium with your own hands- a difficult, but very interesting task. A tastefully decorated aquarium can bring a touch of peace, coolness and wildlife to the interior.

Nowadays, the beautiful and fashionable design of an aquarium for a person who keeps and breeds fish is not just entertainment, but a matter of prestige and simply aesthetic pleasure from contemplating the results of their labors.

Psychologists say that an aquarium with fish in an apartment can calm the nerves and normalize the mental state of a person. To do this, it is enough just to organize a recreation area with an aquarium and watch the fish for at least 30-60 minutes. in a day.

Aquarium: do-it-yourself decoration

The most exciting and time-consuming task for all of us in the process of installing and filling an aquarium tank is its correct and beautiful decoration in the same style as the design of the room.

To date, there are a huge number of accessories that can be placed in the aquarium. Do-it-yourself decoration will allow you to accurately recreate in it exactly the situation that you want to see there. Just do not forget that the main inhabitants of the aquarium are fish. And they need the maximum amount of free space in order to be able to swim freely.

The main components that allow you to design an aquarium (200 liters and all others) are:

  • stones;
  • natural and artificial algae;
  • pebbles;
  • various wooden elements;
  • artificial decorative elements, such as locks, chests, etc.

Examples

Let's look at the following steps and examples of aquarium design:

  • laying the bottom with soil;
  • stones and grottoes;
  • decorating the aquarium with the right background;
  • application various kinds plants;
  • correct selection of lighting;
  • decoration of the aquarium with decorative elements.

Each of them has its own specific rules, which will be described below.

Covering the bottom with soil

The soil for the aquarium bottom is one of the main and essential attributes. Before purchasing it from a specialized store, decide what kind of aquarium you want to have, since this natural material must be purchased according to a specific purpose. Yes, yes, you heard right: a certain type of soil is taken for each target.

So, if small fish will live in your aquarium, then it is best to buy a small type of soil, and coarse-grained or mixed is suitable for large inhabitants of the tank. A similar approach is acceptable when you decide to equip your home with a Dutch-style aquarium, that is, a tank dominated by plants, not fish.

In addition, when choosing a bottom cover, you must take into account the individual habits of the exotic aquarium fish you have chosen. If you have purchased certain types of catfish, then you must remember that they are very fond of digging in the ground. Therefore, you cannot buy shallow soil for them, otherwise there will always be fog in the aquarium. To avoid this, it is necessary to purchase a bottom cover of such a size that they cannot dig it.

It is best to buy a monophonic coating for the aquarium. It is best to choose a dark-colored bottom base, as it will highlight the inhabitants of your fish house.

Before placing the purchased soil in the aquarium, it must be thoroughly rinsed or, which is ideal option, pour over boiling water.

Stones and grottoes

How is the decoration of the aquarium with stones and grottoes? These details, chosen for decoration, must be made only from natural, natural materials. They should not contain harmful or toxic impurities that, if released into the water, can lead to the death of the inhabitants of the aquarium.

In the case of self-collection of decorative elements in an aquarium, do-it-yourself decoration is carried out only after preliminary processing of all previously collected material in order to disinfect and check for the absence of all elements harmful to the health of the inhabitants of this tank.

Processing of stones and snags

Stones can be treated in the same way as aquarium bottom soil, but pre-treatment of driftwood is somewhat more complicated. To do this, you need to place the selected wooden decor into a container with water (so that the liquid completely covers it) and add salt there until it stops dissolving, then remove the treated snag and, rinsing it with clean water, place it in the purchased fish tank.

Do not forget that in no case should the aquarium contain elements made of limestone, rubber, various elements, as well as elements coated with paint or enamel.

Also, do not oversaturate the aquarium with decor, especially elements. large sizes, such as stones, grottoes, etc., since this leads to a decrease in the useful internal space necessary for underwater inhabitants for their vital movement.

Do not forget that large decorative elements should be placed in the corners of the container or in the background so as not to spoil the entire appearance.

Decorating your aquarium with the right backdrop

The so-called background is an important element of aquarium decor. Since the background coating sets the mood for your entire brainchild, you should not choose dark and gloomy tones that carry the spirit of despondency and sadness.

There are several rear options:

  • You can simply paint the back wall of the tank in a color of your choice. This path has its pros and cons. An indisputable advantage is the uniqueness and 100% originality of your brainchild. The list of disadvantages includes certain difficulties with changing the existing background (removing it with a solvent).
  • Background in the form of a colored plastic film, which has an unlimited number of different variations, among which everyone can choose the most suitable for him. In addition, the price of such a film will be almost imperceptible to your pocket, and it can also be installed or removed very quickly.
  • Panels and dioramas in the aquarium. Do-it-yourself decoration in this case is an ideal option, since these parts can not only be purchased at the store, but also made independently using the following available materials: small pebbles, driftwood and branches, foam and mounting foam. But we must not forget about environmental cleanliness and natural origin selected materials so as not to harm the fish. Such decorative elements will always be one of a kind.

Film sticking rules

A similar film can be attached both from the outside and from the inside of the rear wall. If you want to get more saturated colors, then, of course, it is better to stick it from the inside.

Before sticking the film, make sure that the surface is inner wall the back of the aquarium is completely dry (to avoid pimples). Treat the purchased film around the entire perimeter with a special transparent silicone sealant pre-purchased at the pet store. Never use a conventional sealant, as the consequences of its use may be irreparable for aquarium inhabitants.

If you decide to stick the film inside the aquarium, then you should not feel sorry for the silicone: it is better to coat the film very carefully, especially its upper edge, in order to avoid the possibility of peeling it off. After fixing, wait for the material to dry completely, and only then fill the tank with water.

Decoration of the aquarium with various types of plants: live or artificial

If you have purchased an aquarium and are engaged in its design, then do not forget about the purchase and planting of various types of algae. You don’t need to oversaturate the container with them, but you can’t do without them either, since they saturate the water with oxygen and are food for some fish species.

They also act as a "crèche" for newly born fish, because only by hiding in the algae can they survive, because eating their fry is common among many fish species. Those species of fish that spawn hide it on sheets of algae or under them.

Planting and caring for live aquarium plants

Before purchasing, it is best to consult with the seller in the pet store, he will help you choose the perfect plants, and also tell you how to properly plant them in the aquarium so that they long time pleasing to your eye.

In any case, there are varieties of aquatic vegetation that do not require landing in the ground. For all others, the thickness of the soil should not exceed 3-5 cm, and it is recommended to choose grains of medium or large sizes. It is this size of the soil that will speed up the process of full rooting of plants. A newly planted plant can be lightly pressed with pebbles or other decorative element. At the same time, its roots should be in a straightened state.

Choosing the right backlight

If you decide to decorate the purchased aquarium with your own hands, then do not forget about the right lighting, because not only the appearance of the tank, but also the health of its inhabitants depends on it, since strength and its spectrum are vital for plants.

To date, there is a huge number of different lights, both external and fully adapted for working underwater, so that everyone can find the option that suits him. To help the novice aquarist, many different manuals have been published that help to properly and quickly design an aquarium. The photos below will help make this process as simple and easy as possible.

Making an aquarium with decorative elements

When designing an aquarium with decorative elements, you must remember that they must be environmentally friendly and not have harmful impurities, and in no case should you oversaturate the aquarium with them.

You can use both purchased and self-made decor.

Styles

To date, there are various styles decoration of aquariums. All of them are very richly represented in the pictures and photographs posted in our article and in various books on the aquarium business. Also in Russia they can be seen in dolphinariums. Among them, the following options for decorating an aquarium stand out:

  • Biotope, which is the landscape of a single reservoir.
  • Dutch design style, focusing on the richness of the underwater flora, and not on the fish.
  • Geographic - an aquarium with representatives of the flora and fauna of a particular region.
  • The pseudo-sea aquarium is stylized as a seabed without plants, and its inhabitants are fish of bright colors.
