Permissible length of the coaxial pipe vaillant. Installation and installation of a coaxial chimney - correct assembly. Where does the installation start?

Coziness and comfort in the house creates warmth. And in our time there are many ways to heat housing. In multi-storey buildings, heating is central, but the owners of private houses prefer various boilers that directly require a chimney. Through it, the smoke will go out into the street, and not into the living room. Standard pipes are being replaced by more advanced and compact ones.

The coaxial chimney is latest system with a high level of security. It is designed for many gas boilers. The baxi coaxial chimney is especially popular. Let's take a closer look at what a coaxial smoke exhaust system is, with its device, installation standards.

What is a coaxial chimney?

This question is asked by many owners of heating boilers. A coaxial chimney is a design that is assembled according to the “pipe in pipe” principle and is used in heaters, such as: gas boilers, convectors, radiators with buried combustion chambers. The uniqueness of such chimney channels is that this design is assembled from several parts that are inserted into each other and held due to the fact that there are specialized jumpers inside this device. They do not allow parts to touch and slide off.

The advantage of these models of chimney channels is that the cold air flows that are needed for draft penetrate through outer pipe from the street, not indoors. Also, coaxial-type chimney channels solve several of the most important issues in heating at once:

  • safety during the operation of the chimney is increased due to the flow of cold air through the outer pipe, which cools the inner one;
  • carries out the supply of oxygen, which is simply necessary for combustion and the output of burning;
  • the efficiency of heating devices increases due to the heating of cold air flows against a heated exhaust pipe;
  • good efficiency increases the degree of environmental friendliness of heat generators and improves afterburning of gas fuel;
  • the entire work process is carried out outside the room, which increases comfort in it when heated by a gas boiler;

  • they reduce fuel consumption and increase efficiency heating system as a whole due to full combustion;
  • at low weight and affordable price they have high refractoriness and high quality steel. Especially these qualities are known for a coaxial chimney for gas boiler baxi;
  • they have a special drain for condensate;
  • the risk of fire is reduced to zero, because due to constant circulation, the air temperature in the chimney is reduced to a safe temperature.

Equipment with such a chimney is ecological, as they do not allow the remnants of unburned particles to fly out into the street and enter the atmosphere.

Advice! They are great for homes, as they provide comfort and safety to the owners even wooden houses through their device.

For the current situation in the field of heating, an urgent issue is the arrangement of the selected type of equipment. An important point is the chimney for a gas boiler in a private house or apartment. Today there is whole line products suitable for this purpose, so it is important not to make a mistake in choosing. To do this, you need to take into account specific conditions and comply with established requirements.

Types of coaxial chimneys

They are divided into two types: insulated and non-insulated. The first of them is most adapted to winter conditions and is successfully used throughout Russia.

They are divided into three types by installation:

  • vertical coaxial chimney. Can be used if it is not possible to bring the chimney through the wall;
  • horizontal coaxial chimney. It is installed when installing forced ventilation of the boiler. The maximum length of the horizontal section is limited. It should be no more than three meters, but still manufacturers set their own limits. Before designing a structure, it is necessary to study the characteristics of the device to be installed;
  • inclined coaxial chimney. The rarest installation option and only be used when the other two options cannot be used.

For each boiler, the direction of the chimney is individual.

Installation Requirements

The coaxial chimney, the installation requirements of which are indicated in the passport for each device, is individual, but there are also general ones. Among them:

  • for installation work should be carefully prepared. First you need to choose the right section. It is necessary to carefully study the passport for the boiler and the instructions from the manufacturer, which should contain information about the required length of the chimney;

Advice! If it is not specified, then you should focus on the generally accepted framework. In the very the best options length flue channel must be at least five meters.

  • in order for the draft in the chimney to be better, it should be installed slightly higher than the roof ridge;
  • they must be installed very carefully and carefully fastened. If the chimney duct is installed incorrectly, leakage or smoke may enter the heated room;
  • outlet channel at correct installation the chimney must be larger in diameter than the outlet from the boiler;

Advice! Before installation, it is necessary to check the data with the technical passport for the chimney channel in the field - diameter. This will help avoid mistakes.

  • the heating device must be installed one and a half meters lower than the outlet pipe of the flue duct, while the pipe entry must have an angle of at least three degrees. This arrangement ensures unhindered condensate drainage.
  • The chimney inlet must be located at a height of at least a meter and a half from the floor. This will keep it from getting dirty.

Advice! If false chimney systems are being installed, its length should not exceed three meters. This will allow the smoke to freely enter the outside.

Required fasteners

The list of elements required for assembling a coaxial flue duct will depend on where the smoke outlet will be installed: from the side or from above. For the first case, a horizontal assembly of the structure will be required, in the second case, the withdrawal of the chimney channel will be much easier. To bring the outlet to a vertical position, brackets of various modifications and clamps for fixing the joints will be required.

Important! It is strictly forbidden to use sealant for fastening and homemade adapters, as it is unsafe and may lead to incorrect system functioning.

With the right choice of elements, installation will not require much time, and the system will serve for a long time.

Features of Baxi chimneys for boilers

Baxi is one of the most famous companies in the production of heating systems. It manufactures chimneys from high quality polypropylene.

The coaxial chimney for the Baxi gas boiler has such characteristics as: reliability and lightness. They are manufactured by the manufacturer in two types of diameters: 100/60 mm and 125/80, while the size of the protrusion of the chimney is 350 mm. This type is suitable not only for the southern, but also for the northern regions of Russia. They prevent the formation of internal frost at low temperatures. temperature conditions. Baxi chimneys have an elongated head and protection design, which allows them to work without interruption at fifty degrees below zero Celsius.

Coaxial chimneys are a new step in the creation of modern heating systems for private houses. They are environmentally friendly, safe and comfortable, and easy to install. When choosing, it should be borne in mind that some of them are not designed to work at low temperatures, so residents of the northern regions are best to pay attention to the heating system from Baxi. Providing heat at home with the advent of such a system will become easier.

Increasingly, in the manufacture of a smoke exhaust system, a coaxial chimney for a gas boiler is used. Given that correct installation, the coaxial pipe copes with two tasks at once: it removes combustion products and provides sufficient air flow for operation heating equipment.

There are several types of chimneys that differ in material and design, as well as various technical characteristics.

Coaxial chimney - what is it

The coaxial chimney is simple design. In fact, these are just two pipes of different diameters, inserted one into the other, so that there is a gap of several cm between the walls of the outer and inner contours.

All pipes, regardless of the design features and the material used, can be divided into two groups:

  • Collective coaxial chimneys for gas boilers - are manufactured exclusively in the factory, installed during the construction of the building. To increase the traction characteristics, they have an inner layer of thermal insulation.
  • Individual systems - chimneys designed for domestic use and connection to one heating device. Plastic chimneys are mainly used for condensing boilers, due to their low cost. Two-channel stainless steel pipes are used much less frequently.
The efficiency of a smoke extraction system depends largely on right choice pipes. First you need to learn about how the chimney works, as well as on which boilers you can put a coaxial pipe.

The principle of operation of a coaxial chimney

The coaxial pipe is designed for the simultaneous removal of combustion products and air intake from the street. The process of circulation of gases is carried out through two channels.

The principle of operation of the chimney is as follows:

For the effective operation of the pipe, it will be necessary to strictly observe the SNiP for coaxial chimneys, carry out a preliminary calculation of the system, and also perform the correct assembly, including the installation of safety components: a condensate trap, an anti-icing nozzle, etc.

Which boilers can be fitted with a coaxial pipe

Coaxial chimneys are designed for connection to condensing and turbocharged boilers with a closed combustion chamber, with forced or natural system smoke removal.

The pipe is optimally suited for parapet units and convectors. It is possible to install a coaxial system on a boiler with an atmospheric burner if the pipes are made of stainless steel.

Simple design greatly increases work efficiency gas equipment. Almost all modern models connected to two-channel systems. It is allowed to install steel coaxial chimneys for single-circuit and double-circuit gas boilers, regardless of the principle of operation and the design of the combustion chamber.

To determine whether a two-channel chimney can be installed, one should be guided by the parameters specified by the manufacturer in the technical documentation. Usually, there are detailed instructions and norms, as well as requirements for the installation of a smoke exhaust system.

Some models of condensing turbocharged boilers have a separate system for removing combustion products, through two separate outlets. One for removing combustion products, the other for air intake. In such modifications, the connection of a coaxial pipe is not advisable.

Types of coaxial smoke exhaust pipes

When choosing a coaxial pipe for gas equipment, it should be remembered that only branded chimneys manufactured by the same company as the unit itself are suitable for boilers of some brands. , - all these manufacturing companies manufacture equipment with non-standard sizes of outlet nozzles. Therefore, the use of branded components is considered optimal for the manufacture of a smoke exhaust system.

In all other cases, the choice basically comes down to the selection suitable material pipes. The design of the systems is made of aluminum, stainless steel and plastic. In domestic conditions, plastic pipes and stainless steel products remain the most in demand.

Two-channel plastic chimneys

Plastic chimneys are made of a special heat-resistant material that can withstand maximum temperature heating up to 205°С. Pipes are connected to gas-type condensing equipment. Advantages of plastic:
  1. Light weight.
  2. Low cost.
  3. Easy installation.
As disadvantages, one can single out the relatively short service life of coaxial plastic chimneys, as well as the limitations associated with the ability to connect to conventional gas boilers. It is allowed to use the system only in low-temperature gas discharge conditions.

Stainless steel coaxial pipes

The stainless steel used in the manufacture of the chimney is acid-resistant and withstands more than plastic pipe temperature, up to 550°C. Manufacturers offer chimneys of two designs:

When choosing a coaxial pipe, they are primarily guided by the recommendations of the manufacturers of heating equipment indicated in the technical documentation.

Regulatory requirements for the installation of a coaxial chimney

State norms and regulations for the installation of a coaxial chimney for a gas heating boiler with closed camera combustion, set out in . Design, calculation and installation works are carried out in accordance with regulatory documents. Failure to comply with the recommendations leads to the refusal of the Gas Service to put the heating system into operation.

The standards regulate the distance from the coaxial chimney to the window, doorways, nearby buildings. Specify minimum requirements associated with the manufacture of fire cuts and other safety standards. In particular, the SNiP stipulates:

  • The location of the coaxial chimney on the facade - the head is placed at least two meters from the ground level. The size of the hole in the wall should exceed the diameter of the coaxial pipe by 1 cm, in the case of a brick wall, by 5 cm for a wooden wall.
  • The use of coaxial chimneys in multi-storey residential buildings - the norms allow the installation of pipes of this type, subject to the following conditions. The minimum distance to window and door openings located on the same level is at least 0.5 m. To a window located above the chimney, at least 1 m.
    There is no risk of poisoning by combustion products discharged through the coaxial pipe when using a condensing boiler. Provided that the system is correctly installed, the influence of the discharged flue gases on the inhabitants of the upper floors slightly. Violations during the installation process lead to condensation on the windows of neighbors.
  • Fire safety standards and requirements. Gap between wooden wall and a coaxial chimney of 5 cm. The minimum gap is due to the fact that during operation the surface of the outer contour of the pipe practically does not heat up. It is necessary to install non-combustible materials between the coaxial pipe and the wooden wall. It is optimal to use basalt insulation.
    The regulated distance from the coaxial chimney, relative to windows and doors of neighboring houses and other buildings, is at least 1.5 m. The site should not be blocked by walls, tree poles, etc. The removal of combustion products from the condensing boiler into a conventional chimney, instead of a coaxial one, is prohibited.
  • A coaxial chimney can be either horizontal or vertical. The installation of a collective smoke exhaust system is carried out only after obtaining permission from the gas service. It is not allowed to connect to the same network of boilers with forced and natural removal of combustion products.
  • Horizontal section - laying a two-channel chimney through an adjacent non-residential premises is allowed only if the pipe length does not exceed 3 meters. In turbocharged models, with the function of forced removal of combustion products, it is allowed to increase the horizontal section up to 5 m.
  • Restrictions on output through the facade. Care must be taken to prevent condensate from dripping onto the ground. The pipe is installed at an angle to the boiler. If a steam trap is present, it is allowed to slope the outlet pipe to the ground to drain rainwater. With a collective connection, it will be necessary to coordinate the disposal of accumulated condensate in the sanitary and epidemiological supervision authorities.
  • Installation standards - the coaxial chimney must protrude from the wall at a distance of at least 30 cm. For turbocharged boilers, with a chimney section of about 1 m, a narrowing diaphragm must be installed - a unit that compensates for the insufficient length of the chimney. A diaphragm in a coaxial chimney is needed to limit the flow of air into a closed combustion chamber. Turbocharged boilers are designed to use a chimney 5 m long. The diaphragm eliminates the difference.
  • Maintenance of the coaxial pipe - the system is serviced annually, at the beginning and end of the heating season. The accumulated condensate is removed, the tightness of the joints and the absence of burnout in the structure are checked.

Requirements regarding safe operation coaxial chimney systems may vary, therefore, before purchasing and installing, you should consult a specialist.

Mounting options

Complete with coaxial chimney, factory assembled, must be included detailed instructions for installation. Following and careful implementation of these recommendations affects the operation of the boiler and the efficiency of the smoke exhaust system. According to experts, main reason blowing out the boiler, the appearance of frost or ice, is associated with errors in the calculations and when connecting the chimney.

Horizontal installation of coaxial pipes

Horizontal installation is carried out taking into account specifications building. Initially, the place where the pipe exits the wall is selected. There are restrictions associated with the distance to the nearest neighbor's window when a horizontal coaxial chimney is removed from the wall, which must be carefully observed.

Additionally, the following parameters are calculated:

  • The height of the pipe is from the outlet pipe of the boiler to the passage hole in the wall; for floor-standing gas boilers, the height must be at least 1 m. The direct outlet of the pipe from the outlet pipe to the street is not allowed. For wall-mounted gas boilers, a height reduction of up to 0.5 m is allowed.
  • The number of swivel couplings in the area should not exceed 2 pcs.
  • The maximum length of the horizontal section is 3-5 m, depending on the boiler model. To extend the pipe, a coupling with heat-resistant sealing rubber is used. Do not use silicones or sealants.

Feature of using a two-channel chimney in winter time– increased production of condensate. The reason for the loss of moisture is that the system was originally designed for more favorable operating conditions. With increased formation of condensate, it will be necessary to insulate the pipe.

Vertical installation of a two-channel pipe

Vertical installation of the chimney provides two connection methods:

How to properly install a coaxial chimney pipe

Exist general rules and regulations to help install the chimney pipe in such a way as to avoid further problems in operation. Recommendations specifically stipulate:
  1. Output of the system through the wall.
  2. Boiler connection.
  3. Possibility of extending a two-channel system.
  4. Protection from ice and wind.

Coaxial type chimney outlet through the wall

Bringing a coaxial smoke exhaust system through the wall is actually quite simple. The difficulty is determining the optimal location for this task. There are fire safety requirements for the location of the coaxial chimney. Some norms are described in SP 60.13330.
  • The recommended angle of inclination of the horizontal section is 3° to the side heater. If a steam trap is installed, a slope to the other side is allowed.
  • The maximum length of the horizontal section of the coaxial pipe is from 3 to 5 m, depending on the technical parameters of the installed boiler. No more than two corners can be used along the entire length of the chimney.
  • Node of passage through brick wall done with a gap of 1 cm. The gap is not sealed non-combustible material and closed with a special overlay.
  • Node of passage through wooden wall expands by 5 cm, compared to the diameter of the pipe. Basalt insulation is placed in the resulting gap. As an alternative, the hole around the coaxial chimney in the wooden wall of the house can be patched with special fireproof foam.
  • A tee with a condensate collector and an inspection channel for cleaning is installed.
  • The concentration of exhaust gases when connecting a coaxial chimney is small. But to ensure safety, it is recommended that the minimum exit distance of the coaxial chimney above ground level is not less than 2 meters from the ground. So, it is possible to completely neutralize the insignificant danger of gas combustion products.
Installation work is carried out in accordance with the instructions provided by the manufacturer.

How to connect a two-channel chimney to a boiler

One of the common mistakes when connecting a coaxial smoke exhaust system is the use of improvised means, which is a gross violation of safety and operation. Standards prescribe the use of a special adapter for connection. It is forbidden to install a self-made branch pipe from a piece of stainless pipe.

Immediately after the outlet pipe, a tee with a condensate collector is mounted, after which the pipe is lifted up by 0.5-1 m, the angle is set and the chimney is led through the wall. Before commissioning, check the quality of traction.

How to lengthen a coaxial pipe

It is not always possible to install the boiler in such a way that the chimney is no more than 1 m. In some cases, it will be necessary to increase the length of the pipe. The design is assembled according to the principle of "father-mother". Pipes are mounted on condensate. For corners, 45° and 90° swivel sleeves are used.

Sealing joints with silicone is prohibited. The adapters are equipped with rubber seals that can withstand heating up to 250°C. During installation, it is required to minimize the number of turns and angles in order to provide the best traction. Mounting clamps are installed along the entire length.

How to keep your coaxial flue system free of ice

Icicles on the head indicate obvious violations during the installation work. As a rule, if the design calculations and subsequent installation are done correctly, there is no chance of icing.

You can additionally protect the chimney from ice formation as follows:

  • Anti-icing nozzle - a unit that helps to eliminate the problem of pipe freezing, even if the installation is incorrectly performed.
  • If there is no condensate trap in the pipe design, the slope must be made towards the boiler, which will lead to the condensate flowing into the tee and a special collector. When, despite the observance of slopes, frost still forms on the head, this indicates incorrectly performed calculations. If a steam trap is installed, it will be necessary to protect the brick from the products of gas combustion by pushing the pipe head 50-60 cm from the wall.

When using individual coaxial chimneys in low-rise residential construction, the installation of an anti-icing nozzle is mandatory.

The maximum boiler power that can be connected to a coaxial chimney is 40 kW. Installation of equipment with high performance parameters leads to insufficient traction, increased production of condensate and icing.

How to protect a two-channel chimney from the wind

Blowing out the boiler, the presence of reverse draft is unacceptable. If the system is not protected from wind and drafts, combustion products will enter the room, which often leads to carbon monoxide poisoning of residents.

You can avoid backdraft by doing the following:

  • Installation of wind protection and diaphragm.
  • The correct location of the pipe under the window, relative to doorways and surrounding buildings.
The distance from the window, on the outer side of the wall, is at least 1 m. If you place the chimney closer, then when you open the window opening, a draft will form.

Pros and cons of coaxial smoke exhaust systems

Each smoke exhaust system has certain advantages and disadvantages, without exception. When deciding how justified the use of a coaxial pipe, you should pay attention to several important factors:
  1. The cost of construction and installation.
  2. Advantages and disadvantages.
  3. Boiler type.

The cost of a coaxial kit for a chimney

Compared to a conventional one, a coaxial chimney is more expensive. A standard meter set will cost approximately 3,000 rubles. Each additional meter for lengthening, another 1800-2000 rubles. Knee and sealing gum in 1500 and 300 rubles. respectively.

In general, the assembly of the system, provided that the connection is carried out independently, will cost from 6 to 10 thousand rubles. Pleasure is not cheap. For some types of gas equipment, there is no alternative to installing a coaxial pipe. For example, it is forbidden to use a conventional chimney for a condensing heating boiler.

Some, wanting to reduce the cost of the smoke exhaust system, use improvised means. On the Internet you can find videos and articles on how to use sewer pipes as a chimney for a condensing boiler, which is dangerous and leads to carbon monoxide poisoning of the occupants of the house.

It is better not to save on safety and buy the chimney that the manufacturer of heating equipment recommends installing.

Advantages of a coaxial chimney

The main advantage of a coaxial smoke exhaust system is that during the operation of a gas boiler, air is burned, taken not from the room, but from the street. As a result, ventilation requirements are reduced and total area room used as a boiler room.

The existing norms allow installing the boiler in an unventilated room, since the need for ventilation of the boiler room is minimal. In comparison, a boiler with a closed combustion chamber uses as much oxygen from the room during operation as is necessary to burn one gas stove burner.

The main advantages of a coaxial pipe from a conventional chimney are as follows:

  • Mounting speed.
  • Possibility of application practically for any heating equipment.
  • Provided proper installation, good traction characteristics.
  • Possibility of application for apartment houses.
Given the advantages of two-channel designs, it is not surprising that such systems have become widespread.

Disadvantages of two-channel pipes

Two-channel pipes have their drawbacks:
  • Approval from the Sanitary and Epidemiological Supervision is required. During operation, it stands out a large number of toxic condensate. Pouring it into the ground is prohibited. Disposal is allowed in specially designated places.
    In practice, if you install a two-channel design in a private house, then all possible claims will be reduced to the wishes of the owners of the house, from representatives of the gas service, to dispose of the condensate in the right way. For collective systems, you will have to obtain permission from the sanitary and epidemiological supervision.
  • Lots of condensate. No matter how you insulate the two-channel pipe, the amount of condensate produced will still be large. Even small violations during installation lead to icing of the outlet, reduced traction characteristics, etc. When installing a coaxial chimney, it will be necessary to isolate the pipe from the formation of condensate.

Typical errors during installation and operation

The main mistake is still the independent connection of the pipe by a person who does not have special skills. The main recommendation of installation specialists is to invite licensed workers to carry out the work, who are able to perform calculations and mount the structure without disturbance.

As practice shows, certain violations are more common than others:

  • Incorrect calculation of the system - there is a direct dependence of the outlet temperature on the length of the pipe. Exceeding the limiting distances cools the escaping smoke to such an extent that it is not able to heat the accumulated condensate. As a result, icicles form on the head.
  • Failure to comply with fire regulations. The length of the horizontal section of the pipe outside the wooden building is increased to 60 cm. Fire clearances must be made.

As a separate point, one can single out the absence of protective units and elements that somewhat increase the cost of construction, but increase the efficiency of the smoke exhaust system.

A mandatory component of the vertical system is a condensate drain kit, as well as a valve to increase traction. Horizontal structures require wind protection, a diaphragm, and an anti-icing module.

The correct calculation and qualified performance of work, in accordance with the existing SNiP and SP, guarantees efficient work coaxial chimney throughout the entire period of operation.

In the middle of this device, special jumpers are provided that prevent the elements from touching each other.

A coaxial chimney is installed complete with a gas boiler equipped with a closed combustion chamber.

Each of the contours of such a channel has its own task:

  • one of them is responsible for flue gas removal from the combustion chamber of the boiler unit;
  • through the second innings fresh air , which is important for the proper combustion of fuel.

For boilers with a closed firebox, it is necessary to install chimneys no more than two meters long. This is important, because when larger size draft will be poor, therefore, the fuel will not burn completely. This is due to the formation of peculiar eddies that interfere with the release of products. chemical reaction oxidation of the substance and the entry of air flows from the outside.

Advantages and disadvantages

As for the advantages of the coaxial design, the following points can be attributed to them:

  1. Fairly high efficiency.
  2. Small size. When installing a conventional chimney, two pipes are required, and in the case of a coaxial design, one product is required.
  3. There is no need to equip an additional ventilation system.
  4. Environmental friendliness.
  5. Staying in a boiler room is absolutely not harmful to human health, since the heating system takes oxygen not from the room, but through channels from the street.
  6. Economical fuel consumption.
  7. Due to the constant flow of cold air, the walls do not have the opportunity to go into a state of overheating.

The only drawback of the device is as follows: at sub-zero temperatures, a pipe of a smaller diameter can freeze over, since the flue gases give off their heat to the internal channel along the way and already have quite a lot at the exit. low temperature. That is why the formation of condensate accumulations in the pipe is a normal phenomenon. With a decrease in performance to -15 ° C, a rolled metal product may succumb to severe freezing, which leads to undesirable consequences.

It is believed that coaxial structures are not suitable for the harsh climate of Russian cities. This system was originally developed for southern countries. However, many experts come to the consensus that pipe freezing is the result of an illiterate design of this system. Regardless of the cause, the end result is the same: the galvanized chamber and burners quickly deteriorate. Repair of such equipment is considered quite expensive.

Most often, such problems are observed precisely in those types of chimneys that are manufactured according to parameters that can significantly increase efficiency. To do this, the diameter of the pipe is made as small as possible, which practically brings the temperature of the flue gases to the dew point.

For southern countries, such values \u200b\u200bdo not affect anything, but in Russia, with the first serious decrease in temperature, freezing of the pipe entails the complete installation of the heating system. Manufacturers can only shrug their shoulders, as this device is not tested under such conditions.

Summarizing all of the above, we can conclude that its resistance to negative temperatures depends on the diameter of the coaxial chimney. It is worth noting that this system is negatively affected by significant voltage drops, as well as a complete power outage.

Choosing a chimney for a bath

There is no individually designed chimney system for arranging the heating of a bath room. It is selected depending on the type of boiler, type of fuel and structural characteristics of the room. The arrangement of such chimneys for different furnaces is almost the same. Coaxial pipe is usually made made of high quality plastic or aluminum. During the acquisition of such a system, it is necessary to pay attention to the presence of all jumpers that are designed to prevent pipes from touching.

All recommendations for competent design can be found in the Russian SNiP 2.04.08-87 "Safety rules in gas industry". Without special skills and knowledge, these requirements will be difficult to understand. To simplify, you can purchase a completely ready-made system, which includes all the necessary certificates. By their design, such devices are horizontal and vertical.

Manufacturers

A universal option for most popular gas boilers is STOUT brand coaxial design. All components of the system are ideally suited to each other, easy to install and maintain, adapted for operation in our country.

A variety of elements allows you to create absolutely any smoke exhaust system. The manufacturer gives a two-year warranty on all products. Technological process production is carried out at the same factories in Italy, where a similar, but more expensive product is produced. STOUT is the choice of those who do not overpay for a popular brand name, but are used to choosing only high quality.

Coaxial chimneys of the company Baxi produced for boilers that operate on gaseous fuels. Their construction is made of the highest quality stainless steel.

Company Immergas produces horizontal coaxial chimneys. It is possible to use such a device for gas boilers, as well as for units operating on liquid fuel.

Firm Buderus engaged in the manufacture of horizontal chimney systems. Two types of steel are used for their production: galvanized and stainless steel.

Coaxial chimney for gas boilers Hermann it is made in certain sizes: the diameter of the inner pipe is 6 cm, the outer one is 10 cm. Such systems are carried out both horizontally and vertically.

Coaxial chimney companies Vaillant are produced with some features in the design, allowing the use of devices complete with boilers from other companies.

Korean manufacturer Navien manufactures chimneys that can be used together with floor or wall-mounted boilers power not exceeding 75 kW.

Coaxial chimneys of a popular company Viessmann are produced in several versions with diameters of 6/10 cm, 8/12.5 cm, 10/15 cm. By design, they can be both vertical and horizontal.

Firm Protherm produces both types of coaxial chimneys in sizes 6/10 cm and 8/12.5 cm.

The design of such devices of the company Daewoo designed so that the installation can be done from either side of the boiler.

Company horizontal and vertical chimneys Ariston made of enamelled steel.

Installation requirements

An installation of this design has its own rules, which should be described in the instructions supplied with the equipment. Gas supply services and the Ministry of Emergency Situations can make adjustments and additions.

When installing a coaxial chimney, it is important to take into account certain requirements:

The design of the pipe is made in such a way that there should be no reverse thrust. A special valve is installed in front of the firebox, which prevents flue gases from blowing into the room.

Passage of a coaxial device through a wooden wall

In SNiP and fire safety rules there are no recommendations for installing horizontal chimneys. However, there are General requirements, according to which the passage of the pipe through a wooden wall must be carried out with certain cuts. To a greater extent, this condition is met not in order to protect the structure from fire, but to exclude incidents with fire services in the form of fines and orders.

The passage of a coaxial chimney through a wall made of non-combustible materials

The process of preparing the hole necessary for the output of the pipe is not particularly difficult. An opening of the desired diameter is cut, the slope of which is directed to the ground. The size of this hole must be equal to the corresponding value of the chimney. A special extension is inserted into the opening made, which fulfills the requirement for the location of the connection to the wall.

It is possible to protect the chimney from icing only by installing additional elements. It is recommended to purchase a special nozzle that will prevent condensate from freezing. This device will also help in case of incorrect design and subsequent installation without desired slope. The nozzle helps to maintain the temperature inside the pipe at a certain level.

The distance from the channel supplying gas to the chimney should be approximately 60 cm.

Installing a coaxial device

It is important to know that non-compliance with the rules for the construction and installation of such a design can nullify all the advantages of this device.

Installation instructions:

Installation of a coaxial chimney requires a serious approach, as well as technical and theoretical knowledge. You should know all the requirements for fire safety, be able to comply with these rules.

Only under this condition can the installation of a coaxial chimney be carried out successfully and safely. In this article we will talk about how to install a coaxial chimney from various manufacturers.

This article will cover the requirements and rules for the installation of chimneys "Baxi", "Navien", "Bosch", "Vaillant" and others. The topic of how to install a vertical coaxial chimney will also be touched upon.

Advantages and disadvantages

The assembled coaxial chimney kit has the following significant advantages:

  • Sufficiently high efficiency, which is ensured by a very heated incoming air flow (this effect is especially noticeable in the chimneys "Baxi", "Bosch", "Vaillant" and "Navien");
  • Compact design, ensured by one massive pipe (having, however, an impressive diameter) instead of two in other types of chimneys;
  • No need to add additional ventilation system(although in some cases it may be required in the Baksi and Navien chimneys);
  • Absolutely safe for both humans and animals, the air circulating in the hotel system;
  • Coaxial chimneys "Baxi", "Bosch" and "Vaillant" have an extremely low price of exhaust systems;
  • No problems with condensate in the chimney system;
  • The coaxial chimneys "Baxi", "Bosch", and "Vaillant" have significantly reduced the total fuel consumption for saunas and baths.

Another undoubted plus of this type of chimney is the circulating cold air, which perfectly protects the walls of the building from possible overheating.

But there is a significant problem with this type of chimney. It's about about possible risk freezing of pipes with a small diameter. The diameter of the pipes in this case plays a key role, since only pipes with a small diameter are susceptible to freezing.

And this problem is common for coaxial type chimneys manufactured by Baxi, Bosch and Vaillant.

Such frostbite occurs due to the fact that the temperature of the so-called "flue gases" at the outlet of the coaxial chimney becomes already minimal, since it indirectly heats inner tube. And this subsequently leads to the formation of condensate.

It is for this reason that such freezing of pipes having a small diameter in coaxial chimneys is the norm.

However, when operating chimneys in Russia, where the usual outdoor temperature quite often it is at -15 degrees Celsius and below, it can be fatal.

Even such advanced models of coaxial chimneys as Baxi, Bosch and Vaillant are not protected from this.

And moreover, there is currently a completely justified opinion that coaxial chimneys are generally not suitable for operation in Russia. It's no secret that initially they were created to work in the regions of southern countries. Many people see this as the reason for freezing.

But there are also experts who think that such destructive freezing is only a problem of an initially improperly designed chimney and nothing more. In general, disputes have been going on for a long time, but the conclusion is the same.

It consists in the fact that turbocharging, together with a galvanized chamber and a chimney burner, fail very quickly due to freezing problems.

Repairing them takes not only a huge amount of time, but also requires serious financial costs. And this is at a fairly high cost of the coaxial chimneys themselves!

However, from practice it can be seen that those models of heating equipment are usually subject to freezing, in which, chasing the most high efficiency, flue gas temperature goes off scale.

At the same time, it reaches the so-called "dew point", for this reason the diameter of the chimneys is subsequently tried to be reduced to an absolute minimum.

The manufacturers of coaxial chimneys themselves answer all questions about freezing by the fact that they were not created for such a climate. And it’s not that they weren’t created, but simply weren’t tested for performance at average temperatures in Russia. And this must be taken for granted.

1.1 Chimney installation

Installation of coaxial types of chimneys does not differ from model to model. So chimneys such as "Baxi", "Bosch", "Vaillant" and others have the same general instructions.

At the same time, coaxial chimneys can only be installed in gas boilers, convectors and various radiators that have closed-type combustion chambers.

For the installation of a coaxial type chimney, the following structural elements will be required:

  • Knee:
  • Actually chimney pipe (its length does not matter);
  • Flange;
  • Specialized adapter for the boiler;
  • Crimp clamp.

Install the chimney at the shortest distance between the boiler and the wall. In this case, the entire length of the area from the boiler to the wall must be cleared of foreign objects and materials that can ignite.

It is also important to accurately determine the point where the pipe will subsequently be led into the external environment (street). In the best case, the location of the pipe should be one and a half meters above the chimney outlet from the boiler itself.

Holes should be made with a diameter of 110 - 125 millimeters. That is, to put it simply, exactly along the pipe. And here you can already understand that the requirements for the installation of coaxial types of chimneys are much less stringent than those of conventional models.

After the installation of the coaxial chimney, it is necessary to close the hole in the wall of the building with a specialized decorative overlay. It must be laid strictly under the diameter of the pipe, for which you can use building glue or the so-called "liquid nails".

At the same time, the end hole from the street is most often foamed to prevent cold air masses from entering the boiler room from the outside. Due to this, drafts and condensation can be avoided.

It is noteworthy that a coaxial chimney does not have to be carried out through the wall of the building. In modern realities, it is quite possible to implement a scheme of so-called "collective chimneys".

2 Fire safety requirements

There are quite strict and logical requirements and standards for the installation of coaxial types of chimneys. They are presented as follows:

  1. 0.5 meters horizontally directly to open various ventilation holes, windows and even doors;
  2. 1 meter vertically to all available windows in cases where the chimney exits exclusively under them;
  3. 0.5 meters vertically to all available windows in cases where the chimney exits exclusively above them (not to be confused with the previous paragraph!);
  4. 2 meters from the ground regardless of whether people walk on it or not.

In addition, when passing gas pipe directly below the coaxial chimney, the distance between the pipe and the chimney must be at least 20 centimeters.

At the same time, the distance from the corner of the house is no longer standardized and regulated in any way, there is freedom of improvisation and one's own desires.

The most significant advantage of coaxial types of chimneys is, of course, the absence of the mandatory need to install additional ventilation of the boiler room. But it is important to note here that recently many experts recommend installing ventilation nevertheless.

In any case, this will definitely not be superfluous, and due to this it will be possible to significantly reduce the risks of fires and failure of the coaxial chimney.

2.1 Overview of the coaxial chimney for a bath (video)

The installation of a coaxial chimney on heating boilers has become widely and successfully used.

This is provoked primarily by the features of such a chimney, which give it advantages over other types of hoods for heating.

Increases the efficiency of the heating process, which is reflected in the air temperature in the room. This in turn affects the cost of heating, as for optimal temperature less fuel is needed, which costs money.

In order for the installation of a boiler with a coaxial chimney to be successful and it will serve you for a long time, it is necessary to properly install the coaxial chimney. And it is better to do this when you are familiar with the types of such chimneys and their features.

1 What are coaxial chimneys?

Installation of a coaxial chimney for a gas boiler depends on the type of product purchased. The installation of a vertical coaxial chimney will differ from that intended for a horizontal arrangement.

For installation different types chimneys will need various auxiliary devices.

Proper installation of a coaxial chimney involves the selection of materials that will match each other. For example, a double pipe must be of such a diameter as to match the boiler for which a coaxial chimney is being installed for.

In order not to do everything at random, and then not to redo it, study the technical data sheet of the heating device. There must be the wishes of specialists regarding the installation and installation of this equipment.

The installation of a coaxial chimney of a gas boiler can also be done using technology that prevents icing of the chimney. As a rule, such chimneys are sold complete with the device.

2 What steps should be present when installing a coaxial chimney and what is important not to forget?

In order for the installation of a coaxial chimney with your own hands to be correct, it is important not to forget anything and to follow exactly all the necessary steps, which you can learn about from our article.

First, determine whether you will install the chimney horizontally or vertically. Vertical installation of a coaxial chimney is rarely done, since such a device is more overall.

In addition, to install this type of chimney, it is necessary to punch a hole in the roof, which is not always easy to do. But still, sometimes the installation of a baxi coaxial chimney of this type is necessary.

This happens in cases where, due to the layout of the room, horizontal installation is simply not possible. This may be hindered by protrusions of the wall, radiators, doors or windows.

But if all these obstacles are not present, then feel free to install the coaxial chimney horizontally, since such an arrangement, in combination with a fan, is the most optimal.

Horizontal installation is mainly assumed by the rules for installing a coaxial chimney in an apartment building. This is also due to the fact that if the apartment is not on the top floor, then vertical installation is not possible.

The rules for installing a coaxial chimney for a gas boiler provide that all adapters, tees and clamps, elbows must be selected in accordance with the diameter of the coaxial pipe.

It is important to ensure that the distance between the two pipes of such a chimney is always kept at the same level, including in the places where adapters and other auxiliary installation elements are used.

All auxiliary elements that involve the installation of a coaxial chimney with your own hands must fit snugly together, ensuring the system is sealed. This is important to ensure good draft, which enhances the heating effect of the boiler.

Also, the tightness of the system can guarantee that air with impurities of combustion products will not be mixed with fresh air, which is not a desirable phenomenon, as it can cause smoke in the room.

The rules for installing coaxial chimneys require that the structure be placed away from gas pipelines. Also, the installation of a coaxial chimney in an apartment building is done so that the exit is not located close to the window, and not very low above the boiler - these are safety requirements.

There must be at least 600 mm to the window, and at least 1.5 meters from the upper edge of the boiler.

Installation of a coaxial chimney in wooden house has its own rules. Wood is sensitive to moisture, so the walls of such a house must be protected from condensation, which can occur when the hot exhaust air is cooled.

For this, the installation of a coaxial chimney in a wooden house is carried out using thermal insulation materials so that the temperature on the surface of the pipe is even.

Where the pipe exits wooden coverings, you can use steel sheets for upholstery to reduce the chance of spontaneous combustion.

The rules for installing a coaxial chimney for a gas boiler are well known by a specialist who will do everything faster and better than you, unless, of course, you have solid experience in this area.

In some new buildings, when laying communications, individual heating is already provided.

Therefore, a single system of coaxial chimneys has been laid there, which will save you from unnecessary trouble and give you confidence that all the requirements for installing a coaxial chimney of a gas boiler are met.
