Build a new fence. How to make a fence with your own hands. Step by step instructions with photos. Original designs in the photo: decorating a summer house or a private house

What is a fence for? What functions does it perform? How important is the quality of the fence to you? Is it possible to install a fence with your own hands. so cheap and beautiful?

One of the main functions of the fence is the protective function and security! Remember how, without having time to purchase your country cottage area, you immediately came up with the idea that it would not hurt to fence yourself in and, thereby, secure your rights to the newly acquired land. The second thought that came to you was a picture of your site, enclosed by a beautiful fence. All sorts of fruits and vegetables, flower beds quietly grew on the site - and all this without the danger of being collected by "night guests", who often make their "ruinous" visits to poorly protected areas.

Your initial wish was very correct! You definitely need to put a strong and reliable fence around your site. Will you be building, or will you be engaged in gardening and horticulture - the fence will protect and keep your valuables from the “envying eyes” and “grabbing hands”.

Once the decision has been made, it's time to take action! But ... in the modern market there is a great variety of all kinds of fences! Some require considerable financial costs, others require certain knowledge, others require experience, and others require a neighbor who has the same ...

This question is not easy to answer! Each fence has its own advantages and disadvantages. We will now try to describe in more detail the most popular fences, so that each of the readers can make a choice for themselves.

By the way, if you, the reader, do not belong to the number of happy owners of fat wallets, then this article will help you decide and put up a fence around your site yourself! This activity is fascinating, during the installation process you will learn many new skills, learn some tricks and subtleties! Self-education is always good! Another reason to raise your self-esteem and test your self-respect! A self-made fence will be proof of your thriftiness.

First of all, fences are solid capital and lattice decorative. Some completely close everything that happens in your yard, while others allow you to see everything, but do not allow inside.

What are the fences in our time?

  • Wooden;
  • From concrete slabs, solid and decorative;
  • Plastic;
  • Brick;
  • Net;
  • From corrugated board.

Let's take a closer look at each type of fence and how to install it yourself.

Wooden fences are very popular, they are easy to install and carry out. repair work. Let's get acquainted with the advantages and disadvantages of such a fence.

Advantages of a wooden fence:

Relatively inexpensive;
A wide variety of shapes and models;
Easy to install, even an amateur can handle it.

Disadvantages:

Requires constant personal care (painting);
Short-lived, service life rarely exceeds 10 years.

To install a wooden fence with your own hands, you will need the following materials and tools:

  • Hammer, nails;
  • Level;
  • Pegs and rope;
  • Wooden or metal posts;
  • cement mortar;
  • Wooden bars 2-2.5 m long;
  • Stafetins made of wood of the shape you like;
  • Lacquer, drying oil, paint;
  • Hinged hinges;
  • Latch or lock on the gate.

In order to purchase the material necessary for construction, you can contact any hardware store where you can choose the shape and dimensions of the blanks you like. Most suitable size future staples - 85 x 145 mm. This option is less time-consuming, but more costly in finance. If you want to save a little on, then contact the timber warehouse, where they will offer you a cheaper product that requires additional processing - a cut board. True, you will have to tinker with it a little - plan it, go through a grinder - but it will be possible to save a lot.

For columns, it is desirable to use metal pipes, channel bars, but if this is not possible, treated wood will also do. special blends to prevent rapid decay.

Whatever material you purchase, be sure to properly proliferate and dry it! The service life of your wooden fence will depend on this.

  • To get started, mark the border along which your fence will pass with the help of a peg and a rope. Pull the rope evenly around the entire perimeter of the future fence.
  • Decide where the gate will be located, its dimensions, mark the location of the columns.
  • Mark the location of your posts at a distance of 2 - 2.5 m from one another. Dig holes for posts at least 30 cm deep.

  • Install and dig in the posts, while be sure to set the posts strictly according to the level - they should stand straight and not fall to one side. If desired and possible, you can concrete the posts, so they will last much longer.
  • For each column at the top and bottom, we fasten bars with a cross section of at least 50 x 50 mm with self-tapping screws.
  • Between the posts above and below we lay the crossbars and screw them on both sides with self-tapping screws or nails.
  • The turn came to the prepared skeleton to nail the crossbars. The distance between the staples can be at least 1.5-2 cm, however, if you want to make this wooden fence solid, nail one board close to the other.
  • When your fence is already fully installed, you should start painting it. To do this, once again treat all the wooden elements of the fence with drying oil, and after it dries with varnish or paint.

For a richer color and to enhance protection from natural elements, paint over the fence 2-3 times. This will extend its service life.

Concrete decorative fence in the last decade has gained immense popularity. The reason for the increase in popularity was the invention of collapsible structures that are convenient for transportation and installation. Designers have improved these concrete structures and filled the markets with all sorts of models of such fences. These fences are ideal for industrial enterprises, and for the private sector (houses, dachas).

Advantages of a concrete fence

  • unpretentious;
  • Long service life - more than 100 years;
  • Easy and quick to assemble;
  • Affordable price;
  • Variety of models.

The disadvantages of such a fence:

  • It is difficult to carry out all the operations for assembling the fence on your own; during delivery and installation, the help of 2-3 people will definitely be required.

Types of concrete fences:

Sectional typesetting - widely used for fencing private houses, they are diverse. They are assembled from small sections that are inserted into the grooves of the posts. Everyone can choose for themselves the height of the fence and a certain model. There are openwork sections, lattice and solid. 2-3 people are enough for assembly;

Self-contained - more often used for fencing industrial facilities, represent a huge solid wall, with a large ornament. Such a fence completely hides from prying eyes everything that is on the other side of it. The peculiarity of an independent fence is that each section has its own support and does not need poles at all. The downside is that when installing and dismantling it, you can’t do without a crane.

Having decided to install just such a fence on your site, take care of airing the site. If you decide to fence yourself tightly, then the entire ecosystem of your garden may suffer from such a decision. Without regular ventilation, the soil becomes acidic, overgrown with mosses, and trees begin to rot. The situation will be saved by several lattice or openwork sections.

Marking the future fence with a rope and stakes will help you clearly define the scope of work, calculate the required number of sections, and mark the places for future posts. Each section is 200 cm long, so the distance from one post to another will be 205 cm. Mark the place for the posts with stakes, and use a rope to check how even your fence will stand.

Unloading building materials. Sections of concrete fencing have a weight of about 70 kg. The pole itself weighs 90 kg. When unloading, it will be very important for you to take this into account and take measures to facilitate the stacking process. If you lay out sections and posts along the entire working area (future fence), then you will significantly reduce both installation time and physical activity.

Installing columns. This system does not require foundation pouring. Initially, the very first pillar and the very last are installed. After that, they dig in all the subsequent ones, strictly in the intended places. If the terrain is uneven, then the height can be adjusted using the height of the posts.

Sections are installed in special grooves located on each column. The lowest layer from below can be overlaid with roofing material.

If desired, the finished sectional fence can be painted in any color using special compositions for facades for painting.

Despite their high cost, brick fences are still very popular. A very large assortment of bricks encourages the construction of more and more new designs that emphasize the dignity of each brick.

Advantages of brick fences

  • Strength;
  • Reliability;
  • Durability;
  • Fire resistance;
  • The beauty;
  • Fundamentality.

Now it is customary to select a brick for a fence, under the brick from which the house is made - one complements the other! The fence can be solid and with forging elements, gratings - everything is at your discretion.

How to start installation?

Make a drawing of the fence (albeit a primitive one), this will help calculate the required amount of building materials. Mark on the plan with dots the places of the columns. Mark the location of the fence on the site. Using a cord and stakes, mark the places of the posts. Do not forget to also mark out a place for a future gate and gate! Carefully measure all corners, each corner must be exactly 90 degrees!

The foundation is the foundation of your fence. The more correctly you put it, the more stable and stronger your fence will be. Initially, you should dig a trench under the foundation. For strip foundation a trench with a depth of at least 40-50 cm is ideal. But the higher the fence, the deeper and wider the foundation should be laid. IMPORTANT: pour the foundation all at once, otherwise the joints will crack and the structure will not be so strong.

Before pouring concrete into the trench, you should prepare a place for the foundation - lay the so-called "bed". For her, sand must first be poured into the bottom of the trench, then gravel, everything should be carefully poured with water from the hose and tamped well. After that, make the formwork, lay the reinforcement. Fill the formwork with concrete, monitor the level. We give the foundation to dry well and acquire the necessary strength. After a week, the formwork is allowed to be removed.

Brick fence. On top of the foundation, be sure to lay a layer of roofing material, it is fixed with liquid glass and cement mortar. Every 2 - 2.5 m we lay out pillars 25x25 cm. Between the pillars a plinth 50 cm high and 25 cm thick is laid, above - the usual masonry in one or half a brick. For a fence, laying in one brick will be sufficient. But if you are laying a high fence, it is best to lay it in two rows. At your discretion, lay out openwork, single-row or combined masonry. When laying, be sure to monitor the level! At the end of the masonry, do the jointing, observing its width of 5-6 mm.

Chain-link fences - cheap and beautiful!

Most cheap option fence! Even a beginner can handle the installation! All installation work can be done in one day.

The advantages of such a fence:
Provides ventilation of the area;
Durability - service life up to 30 years;
Profitability - saving time, saving on labor.
Minuses:
The whole area is well visible;

1. Mark your site, use stakes and cord to mark the future location of the posts and grid;
2. Dig holes for the posts. The columns can be both metal and concrete, in the most simplified versions, wooden ones will do.
3. Depending on the soil, take care to strengthen the posts. If the soil is dense, reliable, it will be enough just to dig a column into it to a depth of 60-70 cm, but if there are any features, be sure to prepare holes. Pour sand to the bottom first, and then gravel, insert a column at a right angle (using a level) and fill it with a cement solution.

4. Stretch the net and attach it to the posts. The chain-link can be attached to wooden posts with nails, wire. But you need to attach the chain-link to metal and concrete with special fasteners. However, the most popular type of attachment to any poles is the same wire.

5. With the help of a reinforcing wire stretched between the cells of the grid, it is necessary to properly stretch the grid, to prevent it from sagging. It is recommended to stretch the reinforcing wire both above and below the mesh.
6. To protect the chain-link from metal corrosion, it is necessary to paint the grid cells well with any oil paint on drying oil.

Do-it-yourself fence from corrugated board - an inexpensive option

Fences made of corrugated board are also very popular. A wide range of metal profiles and a huge range of colors contribute to this. In the presence of building materials and necessary tools work will not take much time and effort.

  • Sheets of corrugated board;
  • metal poles;
  • Cross logs (2-3 pieces for each section);
  • Screwdriver;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • Level;
  • Welding machine;
  • Sand;
  • Gravel;
  • cement mortar.

Front of work:

Always and everywhere, when installing any fence, you need to mark the location of the fence itself and the posts, as well as the presence of a gate and a gate.
Under the posts, drill or dig holes 1-1.2 m deep.
Using sand, gravel and water, prepare a pillow for each post. The height of such a pillow should be about 25 cm.
Install the prepared metal posts with a section of 50x50mm into the drilled holes directly on the gravel pad. Align the posts with a level and fill their base cement mortar.

Using self-tapping screws, attach sheets of corrugated board to the resulting frame. But the best option fixing the corrugated board to the logs will be special riveting for metal. Using them, you will protect your brand new fence from intruders.

Installation of a fence from corrugated board, quickly and inexpensively

After reading this article, I hope you have a plan for arranging your particular site and you were finally able to make the right decision regarding the material for

Fence at the dacha

A fence is a building envelope, the main functions of which are to mark the boundaries of private property and protect the courtyard from the intrusion of unwanted guests. A good fence copes not only with these tasks - it concisely completes landscape design, complements the decoration of a residential building and speaks of the respectability of the owner of the site.

Corrugated fence

What kind of fence is considered good for giving? First of all, the one whose costs justify the quality. Do-it-yourself economy fence in the country house is easiest to assemble from corrugated board.

A fence in a summer cottage made of corrugated board is perfect combination price and quality

There are several advantages to such a fence.:

  • Affordable price;
  • Durability;
  • Wide palette of profiled sheet colors;
  • Ease of assembly;
  • Unpretentious care (it can rain to wash the fence).

We build a fence from corrugated board according to the following instructions:

  1. We dig holes for supporting pillars with an interval of 2 - 2.5 m and a depth of 0.8 - 1.2 m.
  2. Sprinkle the bottom with crushed stone until a layer 20 cm thick is formed.
  3. We put the metal bearing part, controlling the evenness of the supports with a building level.
  4. We fill the pits with a concrete-sand mixture (we prepare the composition at the rate of 1: 8).
  5. We wait for the solution to harden and weld two diameters from the professional pipe to the pillars.
  6. We use self-tapping screws to fasten profiled sheets with lags.
  7. We love the fruits of our labor.

As you can see, it is really possible to build an economy class fence in the country with your own hands. And quickly and at no extra cost.

metal fence

You can enclose the summer cottage with a metal fence. We draw a design scheme, purchase materials and connect them welding machine. The procedure for creating an iron fence is similar to making a fence from corrugated board, but the difference is only in the sheathing. The spans will be created either from a grid or from metal rods. In the course of creating the frame, we grab the parts by welding.

The peculiarity of a metal fence is that it is not necessary to make a foundation for it.

In order for the fence to be in harmony with the site and the residential building, we make it forged, mesh, sectional or with corrugated sheet.

A wrought iron fence does not belong to the economy class, and in order to build it in the country with your own hands, you will have to tinker a lot. Fences assembled from metal rods are budget structures. But they are not deaf, so the courtyard will be visible to people passing by.

Plastic fence in the country

An innovation in the improvement of the suburban area is a plastic fence. Its installation will be mastered by anyone who has experience in assembling structures from plastic profiles and PVC boards.

The design of the fence is made of plastic, increased strength, which is not afraid of blows.

There are many advantages to plastic fencing.:

  • Small price.
  • Easy care.
  • Easy installation.
  • Aesthetic appearance of the finished product.
  • Resistant to fire, deformation, moisture.
  • The ability to retain color despite precipitation and heat.
  • The ability to create different variations of the fence - a blank wall, a fence, an imitation of a picket fence, etc.
  • The fence does not dry out, does not crack, does not deteriorate by insects.

brick fence

The construction of a brick fence is a responsible job and requires compliance with certain rules. But the owner receives for his efforts a high-strength beautiful fence with a long service life. A rich assortment of bricks allows you to create a fence that organically complements any exterior.

A well-built brick fence can even withstand a hurricane!

We build a brick fence in the country as follows:

  1. We measure the length of the future structure and create an estimate for materials.
  2. We mark the territory and dig holes for the strip foundation.
  3. We fill the base immediately, as soon as the supporting pillars are placed.
  4. In order to avoid the formation of joints and increase the strength of the structure, we make the foundation in one approach.
  5. On the frozen foundation we are engaged in laying bricks. We arrange them in one row, but if you want to show creativity, we use combined or openwork variations. For a high fence, we make a double-row masonry.

If you have never worked with bricks, engage a specialist to build the fence, since the laying of the material requires scrupulousness and control over the evenness and thickness of the seams. In the absence of sufficient experience, the design may turn out to be sloppy and weakly stable.

Chain link fence

As soon as the chain-link mesh was first used to make a fence, consumers of building materials immediately realized that this perfect option for a translucent fence, which can be placed on the boundary and not be afraid of quarrels with neighbors about shading their plantations.

A chain-link fence is ideal for a fence between neighbors, because by law, deaf high fences are prohibited

Range metal mesh represented by three varieties:

  • Galvanized;
  • Not galvanized;
  • Plastic coated.

We immediately sweep away the bare non-galvanized version, since the operation of such a fence will be minimal. Simply put, rust will quickly “eat” it. Chain link with pvc more suitable for warm regions and coastal areas, since plastic protects the mesh well from moisture. But this material is not resistant to temperature extremes. This means that a galvanized mesh will be a more or less durable solution.

We work with the material like this:

1. We begin the construction of this fence by marking the location of the supporting parts. We set the intermediate pillars in compliance with a distance of 3 m, tension - with an interval of 9 m. For the bearing part, we take iron profiled pipes Ø 60 mm and corners 50 mm or more.

2. Under the intermediate columns, we drill the ground with a drill until the required number of holes with a depth of about 40 cm is formed. For tension poles, we make recesses of 60 cm. We will not engage in concreting on clay soils and soils with an admixture of clay. They are prone to heaving, and this is dangerous by cracking the concrete base in winter period. When working with pillars, we concrete sandy soil and light loam.

3. As soon as the tension poles take their places, we connect them to other supports using a metal corner, bolts and welding.

4. If we put only intermediate posts as a bearing part, the mesh fabric will be well stretched. But the design will not be reliable, because the sheathed bottom is easily lifted and not only an attacker, but also a smart child can penetrate into someone else's summer cottage.

Let's protect ourselves from uninvited guests as follows. We pass a wire rod with a diameter of 3 mm through the cells along 3 horizontal levels. To tighten it, we drill 3 through holes in each column.

5. We fix the chain-link on the pillars. We put the roll vertically at the support post and check where the bent ends of the lines are (they should be at the top). We attach the top line of material to the top of the column and go to the next support, slowly unwinding the roll. We pass the wire rod through the grid between adjacent columns and insert the ends into the holes. We stretch the wire and fix it with tension bolts. The work is over.

Wooden fence options

The traditional version of the design for fencing the site is made of wood. All the subtleties of making wattle fences, picket fences and slab fences are transferred from experienced craftsmen to novice craftsmen. This familiar trinity is joined by modern design- American Ranch. Consider the construction of these fences.

Wattle

To create a strong dense wattle fence, you need to stock up on branches, poles, pipes. If the bearing part will have a diameter of about 8 cm, then for spans it is better to take:

  • Willow;
  • Willow;
  • Flexible vine;
  • Birch or poplar rods.

Wicker fence is traditionally made from improvised means - existing branches, vines, sticks

In order not to wander through the clearings, you should look for building materials under your feet. Surely in the garden there are pruning branches of berry trees and hazel. The only condition is that the branches must be cut at an angle of 60 °. But the best wattle is obtained from a freshly cut vine.

Collected at the cottage wooden material we use to build a fence like this:

  1. For the bases, we prepare larch logs. Their number is determined by the number of the future fence. Based on the estimated thickness of the weave, we observe an interval between supports of 50 cm. If you have thick rods, make the distance larger. Stick to it almost to the end, and only place the last 3 logs 20 cm apart.
  2. Impregnate all wood with a protective compound, treat it with fire and resin. With special care, work out the bottom of the pillars, which will remain underground. These actions will prevent damage to the wood.
  3. Weave the bars of the future wooden fence in the country house between the posts. Drive the first branch into the ground 15 cm, holding it upright. The remaining rods, regardless of location, braid with wire around the frame. Fix the thick end of the rod first, and bring the thin end along the post through the fixed vines. Every 4 rows, tap parts of the canvas with a hammer. Brittle stems collect in armfuls of 5 pcs. Hide the edges and cut ends inside the hedge.
  4. Open with varnish finished structure, decorate with clay pots, or plant trailing plants along it - a decorative rose or leafy ivy.

Fence

The picket fence is a ventilated fence made of wooden planks, which makes it easy to delimit the cottage. We begin its construction with fixing the supporting elements, for which we take the profile iron pipes 60 x 60 mm. After concreting the holes, we are engaged in lags. We weld the diameters on the rods with an overlap and clean off the excess welding. We carefully prime the structure and paint it in a suitable color.

Wooden picket fence at their summer cottage

Next, we install gates and gates and equip them with fittings. We cover the ends of the pipes with plastic plugs - they will protect inner part supports from moisture and corrosion processes. We attach wooden planks to the crossbars using self-tapping screws. For even spacing, keep a distance of 3 cm.

To improve the general appearance of the fence, we cover its top with a ridge-shaped plank structure. As a result of making it with our own hands, we get a blown version of the economy fence, through which air flows easily pass - this is important for plantings growing in the country.

Slab is lumber, one of the side parts of which is propylene, and the other is either not propylene at all, or propylene is not over the entire surface. Logs belong to the waste of wood processing at the sawmill, so this material allows you to save on filling the spans. Despite the outward simplicity, the slab creates an imitation of a tree, and the owner gets a nice cheap fence.

Slab is essentially waste. Therefore, we can note the low cost per cubic meter of slab

Consider how the slab is used in the construction of the fence.

  1. Bark removal. Material debarking - important point preparatory work. You can’t skip it, otherwise the bark beetle will ruin the fence. We rid the slab of the bark with a flat shovel with a sharp blade, a carpenter's ax and a scraper. Then we sand the cleaned surface to perfect smoothness and apply several layers of antiseptic.
  2. We put metal or wooden support poles. In the second case, we take logs from pine, oak or larch. Optimum diameter trunk - 20 cm, length - 2 m. We cover the bottom of the pillars with hot resin or a Kuzbass-lacquer solution. When erecting a fence with girders, we leave a space of 2.5 m between the supports.
  3. On loamy soils, we drive in pillars without strengthening measures. We drill the mounting points with a drill and hammer the supports with a sledgehammer. When carrying out work on sandy or chernozem soil, first we dig holes, the diameters of which are twice as large as this parameter of the pillars. We cover the bottom with gravel and tamp the poured 10-centimeter layer. We place each post in the center of the hole and fill it with gravel. The position of the bearing parts is controlled by a vertical level.
  4. Sheathing is carried out in any direction. First, we leave small gaps between the parts of the material, but later we also close them with a slab, and again with a convex surface outward.
  5. We cover the finished fence with paint or varnish.
  6. We protect the ends of the pillars with iron or plastic cones.

With a horizontal arrangement of the material, we attach the timber to the supporting pillars, nailing it on both sides with nails or fixing it with overlapping screws. To perform vertical plating, we saw the slab across, and with the runs we hook it with the convex side.

American style wooden fence

Assembling an economy class fence in the country with your own hands in the style of an American ranch is a simple matter. But first, all wood material must be treated with an antiseptic, paying special attention to the ends of the pillars buried in the ground. Then we make markings along the perimeter and hammer in the supports for the “ranch” fence at the corners of the outlined rectangle. As usual, we put the pillars in the holes and concrete. The hardened solution is masked with soil.

American style fence

To control the horizontal position of the boards between the pillars, we stretch the rope. It will not allow installation curvature and will help to adjust the height of the intersection filling. We drive in intermediate supports, leaving 2-meter voids, we check their verticality with a level.

We attach the crossbars to the supports with nails and self-tapping screws. The product is varnished. We color it at will.

The foundation is the head of everything

Both a powerful stone and a light wooden fence in the country require a solid foundation. With its competent filling and the correct location of the supports, the enclosing structure will protect the site for more than a dozen years. The foundations for the fence are divided into tape and pole. Let's consider each type separately.

Strip foundation

This type of foundation is advisable to fill in the following cases:

We begin work on creating a strip foundation by digging a trench with a depth of 30 to 80 cm. If the soil is unreliable, we go deep by 1.5 m. We make a “pillow” of sand and gravel, generously pour water and tie the reinforcement. We form the size of the cell at our discretion.

We erect the formwork so that the fence canvas with the ground surface subsequently separates 30 - 50 cm. We fill the formwork with concrete mortar. In the case of using pillars under the bearing part of the canvas, we place and align the supports even before pouring the foundation.

Pillar option

The post base is an economical solution that perfectly holds light fences. When constructing a wooden fence for a summer residence on a pole foundation, we must process wooden details a special composition that protects the material from decay. With the right approach to the construction of a pillar-type foundation, we get a high-quality foundation that is in no way inferior in terms of durability to a strip one.

Photo of the pillar foundation

The filling technology is as follows:

  1. A drill swarm of pits for load-bearing parts, deepening a meter and a half. We expand the diameter of the holes by 15 - 30 cm in relation to the diameter of the columns. Based on the intended width of the spans, we maintain an interval between supports from 2 to 3 m.
  2. We create a “pillow” either from pure sand, or from its mixture with crushed stone. Plentifully water a 20-centimeter layer.
  3. Align the posts in level and fill the holes with cement mortar to the top. The mixture is supplemented with crushed stone as desired.

As a result of our work, cemented pillars were obtained. Now we fill in the spans. We stretch the chain-link mesh immediately. But if the canvas requires stuffing of material, we first fix horizontal guides between the supports (transverse logs, cross-sections).

How to decorate a fence in the country

If you spend a lot of time in the country, you will probably get tired of looking at the boring flat surface of the building envelope, especially the deaf and long one. Landing along the fence will help to decorate the fence and make it alive climbing plants(according to principle vertical gardening). For this purpose, girlish grapes, actinidia, aromatic hops with beautiful cones are suitable.

Decorating the fence with flowers is a great solution

You can braid the fence with annual plants. Only for their upward movement, it is necessary to take care of the vertical supports in advance, so that the loaches reaching for the sun have something to grab on to.

The visual separation of a long fence is facilitated by decoration with flower beds. Several flower beds are placed equidistantly above the ground and "dilute" the monotonous structure with bright flower stalks.

You can fill the flower beds with shrubs with variegated leaves. conifers it is not forbidden to plant for decorating a deaf fence, but they are sensitive to the bright sun. For this reason, flower beds with them will have to be placed on a shaded section of the fence.

If you have the ability to draw, the fence can be painted by skillfully painting it with bright colors. Next to the fence will look attractive small architectural forms- garden figurines, fountains, swings, gazebos, etc. Turn the fence into a gallery by hanging pictures, posters, crafts along the canvas.

Decking can also be originally decorated

If it is possible to get seeds of bacopa, petunia, lobelia, dichondra, pelargonium or hanging begonia, plant them in pots and hang a strict blank fence with blooming fragrant flower pots. ampelous plants will delight you all summer.

Work on the new site begins with the main thing - the fencing of the territory. It sometimes becomes equivalent to the designation of the border, but it is carried out very conditionally: with a stretched wire, stakes driven in somehow and other not very aesthetic substitutes for a fence. A little later, the moment comes when you need to seriously think about protection. personal plot from outsiders. And then we build a fence.

The construction of a beautiful and durable fence is quite laborious and requires financial investments. First you need to decide what purposes it will mainly serve:

  1. If functions are limited to the designation of territorial boundaries, then inexpensive fence you can build from a picket fence, a metal mesh, or plant bushes around the perimeter of the site, which will eventually grow and turn into an impenetrable hedge.
  2. If you want to close yourself from the views of passers-by, you will need to build a high and impenetrable fence. The cheapest and most durable options in this case are corrugated board and wood.
  3. A fence made of special concrete slabs, bricks or forged spans will be very beautiful and will last more than 50 years, but building it yourself is quite difficult. The cost of such a fence is not affordable for everyone.

Therefore, you should consider how to build a fence with your own hands quickly and inexpensively.

Where to begin?

The first stage of any construction is marking.

Before you build a fence with your own hands, you need to call a specialist from the BTI to approve the boundaries of the site: the neighbors are unlikely to like it if the erected fence takes up part of their territory or casts a shadow on the landings.

When marking, it is necessary to be guided by the instructions of SNiP 30-02-97, which regulate:

  • the distance from the residential building to the fence is at least 3 m;
  • from outbuildings or large trees - 4 m;
  • the height of the fence between adjacent sections is not more than 1.5 m;
  • to ensure sufficient insolation of the site, the fence is made of translucent materials - grating, mesh, picket fence.

After all the necessary approvals have been carried out, you can begin marking and preparing materials and tools for construction:

  1. For marking, you will need pegs 60 cm long and a cord. Having determined the boundaries of the site in accordance with its plan, drive in the extreme stakes in 4 corners and pull the cord from one peg to another, marking the line of the future fence.
  2. In accordance with the length of the span of the fence, which is determined individually in each case, drive a number of pegs along the line marked with a cord. They will mark the places where the fence posts will be installed. The span length should not exceed 2.5 m. By the number of pegs, it is necessary to calculate the required amount of material for the posts and the fence sheet.

Purchase materials:

  • asbestos-cement pipe, steel or wooden beam from 5x5 cm to 10x10 cm - for poles;
  • crushed stone - to fix the pillars in the ground;
  • profile metal pipe or a bar 10x2.5 cm - for the device of transverse logs, to which the fence cloth will be attached;
  • profiled sheet, edged board, chain-link mesh or other material for making a fence canvas;
  • nails, screws for fastening.

Tools that will be required:

  • shovel or drill manual, electric - for excavation for the installation of pillars;
  • plumb and building level;
  • fastening welding machine metal log by welding;
  • drill, hacksaw, grinder.

The basis of the fence - pillars for support

No matter what kind of fence you want to build, the installation of support posts will be a decisive factor in its durability and strength. From correct device the aesthetics of the building will also depend on the support, because even a rich fence looks sloppy if its pillars are warped or collapsed.

In order for the fence to be even, you will first have to install corner posts, stretch a cord along their upper border to determine the plane of the fence and the height of the remaining supports. Dig in intermediate posts at the places indicated by pegs, aligning them in height and vertical.

The method of installing the pillars is determined by the nature of the soil on the site: on heaving and deeply freezing soils, even concreted pillars can warp in the very first winter. How to build a fence with your own hands and avoid such a nuisance?

Image 1: diagram of a brick and corrugated fence.

  1. In order not to create unnecessary work for yourself in deepening and concreting the pillars, you need to drill or dig a hole so that its diameter is slightly larger than the diameter of the support.
  2. The depth of the hole is determined in 1/3 of the height of the column. On clay soils and at high levels ground water increase this depth by another 10-15 cm for the installation of a crushed stone pillow under the pole. Place crushed stone in a layer of 10-15 cm into the dug hole and compact it. Install the post, use a plumb line to align its verticality in 2 planes perpendicular to each other and fix it with temporary spacers in the hole.
  3. Fill the space between the support and the walls of the hole with crushed stone, compact it. Remove temporary spacers and recheck the verticality of the post
  4. Pour crushed stone to the edges of the hole and carefully tamp. This method of installing fence supports creates a layer of soil around the pole that is not subject to heaving, and acts as a drainage when moisture from precipitation and soil water penetrates.

The service life of the support columns also depends on their preparation for operation. The part immersed in the ground must be protected from moisture if it is a wooden or steel element:

  • the tree should be etched with a strong solution of copper sulfate in water (Bordeaux liquid) and covered with bitumen or mastic in 1-2 layers;
  • cover the iron pipe with bitumen.

An asbestos-cement pipe is not subject to corrosion or rotting, but water that has got inside it (during rains) is capable of breaking a column of such material from the inside when freezing in winter. To prevent this, immediately after installation, it is necessary to securely close the upper opening of the pipe.

Installation of log and fence canvas

Image 2: installation diagram of corrugated board sheets.

  1. Install the lower logs at a height of at least 20 cm from the ground level. This is necessary so that they do not rot and do not corrode from contact with wet soil. The lower edge of the fence canvas in this case will be located 10 cm below the log, closing it and not in contact with the ground. The installation mark of the lower log is determined by measuring the distance to it from the top of each of the corner posts. A cord is pulled along these marks, checking the horizontal with the help of a building level.
  2. To install the upper log from the top of each corner post, set aside a distance of about 10 cm, put a mark and drive in a nail. Stretch the cord from one corner post to another, indicating the level of installation of the veins. The distance can be large if the curly supports perform decorative functions.

If necessary (large fence height), additional logs can be installed in the gap between the upper and lower veins with the same step between them.

The lag is fastened to metal support posts by welding or threaded connection on bolts, the length of which is greater than the diameter of the pipe. To do this, through holes are drilled in the support and lag, the diameter of which is equal to the diameter of the bolt. On the bolt passing through the holes, screw the nut and tighten it.

Lags to wooden poles fastened with nails or screws. Their length is selected in such a way that they pass through the vein and the column, protruding by 2-3 cm. This part is carefully folded.

After that, they are attached to the veins inexpensive material, of which the fence canvas will consist - profiled sheet, board 10x2 cm:

  1. Profiled grade C (more than 0.5 mm thick) is attached to the logs with special self-tapping screws 3.5 cm long in increments of 45-50 cm. Such self-tapping screws come with rubber washers and a polymer coating for the heads. aluminum rivets not recommended for fastening corrugated board. Corrosion treatment is not required - the sheets are galvanized and coated with a colored polymer layer.
  2. A 10x2 cm edged board is nailed or fastened with self-tapping screws so that they pierce the wooden parts through and through. The head must be sunk into the wood by 1-2 mm. The protruding ends of the nails are bent. Wooden fence need to be oiled and coated with exterior paint to keep it from rotting.

No suburban area can do without a fence. Even if the most friendly relations have developed with the neighbors, any owner still strives to fence his possessions at least along the outer perimeter. Agree, you feel much more comfortable in the yard when you know that you are not being watched, voluntarily or involuntarily, by strangers. Yes, and concerns for the safety of their own property stored in the yard or adjoining buildings are not so acute. Therefore, questions are always among the top priorities.

Not so long ago, the choice of fence design and materials for its manufacture was not so great. In our time, the variety of options is so wide that it is even difficult to list them. But, probably, one of the most popular materials is a profiled metal sheet (otherwise it is called a profiled sheet or corrugated board). This is due to the fact that the cost of a set of building materials for the construction of a fence from a profiled sheet is quite affordable for the average homeowner, and the construction of such a fence cannot be attributed to tasks of an increased level of complexity, that is, they can be carried out on their own.

Let's take a closer look at the advantages of such a fence, let's see how to build a fence from a profiled sheet with our own hands, without resorting to the help of a hired construction team and renting special equipment.

What are the advantages of building a fence from a profiled sheet?

Some owners of suburban areas treat corrugated fences with some prejudice, considering them to be some kind of frivolous fence for their territory. And it’s completely in vain - a profiled sheet fence has a number of advantages that make it extremely popular.

Build beautiful fence in the country is not considered an easy process.

But by following the instructions that will be discussed today, you can learn how to build a fence correctly, saving valuable time and effort.

Fencing made of corrugated board

One of the most common materials for the construction of a country fence is corrugated board, which has a lot of advantages.

Do-it-yourself installation of a corrugated fence helps save valuable time due to the speed of the workflow.

It is only necessary to determine the necessary location of the fence, mount the pillars, which will subsequently be sheathed with corrugated board.

Material advantages

Such a fence reliably hides the site from prying eyes, especially in comparison with a fence built from a mesh.

Decking reflects various sounds as much as possible and acts as a practical material that does not require professionalism in installation.

To create a fence, the photo of which can be seen below, it is preferable to purchase a corrugated board with a corrugation of about 20 mm in height. After all, a large height is intended mainly for arranging the roof.

Installation of a fence from corrugated board

Before constructing a fence, it is necessary to perform the appropriate calculations. To do this, you should outline the placement of the future building, determine the location of the gate, as well as the gate.

In addition, it is important to determine where the fence posts will be equipped, calculate its height along the perimeter, as well as the height of the gate with a gate. It is from these parameters that the amount of material directly depends.

Then the pillars should be mounted using metal pipes with a diameter of 80 mm or more. The upward part of the column should be welded to prevent moisture from entering the pipe.

To equip the pillars, you will need a pit, the width of which reaches 1.5 meters, and the depth is up to 1 meter. Equip the foundation and, after it has completely solidified, mount the profile, which is designed to fasten the profiled sheet.

It is important to fix the profile, as well as the poles, by electric welding, then cover with a primer to prevent corrosion. At the final stage, fix the corrugated board on the frame with self-tapping screws.

Mesh fencing

Fencing a site with a fence created from a chain-link mesh must begin with an accurate marking of the placement of pillars, for which metal pipes are used.

Under the poles of intermediate purpose in the ground, recesses of 40 cm are made with a drill, under the poles tension type deepening up to 60 cm is required.

As soon as the tension poles are installed in the corners of the proposed fence, it is necessary to connect them by welding, or by bolts with the poles nearby, using props.

But such a fence will not turn out to be reliable, so you can not do without a wire rod, which must be passed through the cells.

Note!

To stretch the wire rod between the posts, several holes should be drilled in each. You can mount the grid on prepared poles.

To learn how to make this fence with your own hands, stand the roll in an upright position next to the support post and make sure that the folded sides of the lines are placed at the top of the roll. Attach the stitching at the top of the net to the top of the post, then proceed to the next post, slowly unwinding the roll.

After the wire rod is passed through the mesh between the prepared poles, it is necessary to insert its ends into the holes that were prepared in advance, pulling the wire as much as possible, fixing it well on the surface of the poles, using tension type bolts.

Fence decoration

Often, the owners of suburban areas face a reasonable question related to the design of a wooden or other fence material in the country.

The first design option for the fence is, of course, its decoration with plants. Vertical landscaping is used. For a similar purpose, hops or grapes are suitable. Good to plant too annual plants winding along pre-stretched wires.

Note!

Another way to decorate the fence in the country is painting, as well as painting.

It is good to hang a special planter with petunias on a deaf-type fence. These plants are completely unpretentious and bloom almost the entire warm season.

A blind type of fencing will serve for many years in the construction of a gazebo, since you already have one wall surface, you will need a few more additional supports, after which you can begin to install the roof.

Innovative technologies make it possible to build a fence of durable material. Also, the fence can be of any height. It all depends on the preferences and wishes of the owner of the suburban area.

Therefore, be guided by your wishes and financial capabilities and equip your possessions outside the city!
