Do-it-yourself box for drying fish. We assemble a dehydrator with our own hands. Installation of a drying chamber from wooden beams

Dad, well, how can you not understand, I don’t like oily fish, I like dry ...

The task is clear, the goal is set, the tool is ready - we will make a dryer for drying fish.

I must say right away that I only bought a mosquito net, in the "hostess" store - 55r running meter, took 2.5 meters - it was enough for me.

Everything else was in the country in the garage, in abundance

So, to start, I took:

4 bars of 120 cm each - the legs of the future dryer

6 bars of 60cm - crossbars

8 bars of 40cm each - the crossbars on which I will install the rods on which the fish will be hung.

From all this disgrace, I assembled the frame, this is what happened:

Very crooked but with a soul! It does not affect the meaning of the product in any way - therefore, I did not bother with precision accuracy.

I drilled holes in short crossbars, not through ones. I found rebar in the garage - I cut it with a grinder to the length I needed - and put it in the drilled holes - two rebars per tier.

The corners of the structure were fixed with corners

Corners with reinforcing bars inserted into the crossbars - gave the structure rigidity.

I decided that there would be few inserted fittings - the rest were sawn, I just grabbed them with self-tapping screws. The main thing is that a hand should pass between the armatures - it will be more convenient to hang the product.

We turn it over, wrap it with a mosquito - we grab the mosquito with carnations. The main thing here is that the mesh should be a little bit with a margin, and in one of the corners it went in two layers - otherwise the flies are such that they will seep into any crack

Bottom. I didn’t make the bottom of the mosquito, because the flies manage to place their offspring right on the net covered with smelling slurry (and from freshly hung fish, they will inevitably dig up the brine).

Therefore, I decided to make it from ceiling plastic.

I twisted the two pieces together, adjusted them exactly to size. Here accuracy is important - so that there are no gaps left - flies will not forgive lye

I put it in place, walked around the perimeter with screws.

Then he took the same corner

And fixed the grid along the side faces of the structure

The remnants of the grid on top - turned out.

I made the lid, like the bottom, from ceiling plastic

We cover, press down with bricks - the finished structure:

After assembly, I found a jamb. When you put your hand into the dryer, you can't reach the bottom, so when hanging the fish - if it fell to the bottom - there will be a little problem with catching it - keep this in mind.

Now take a bowl

we open it, and there, after a three-week salting

quickly cut hooks with knitting wire pliers

posting

But, just what I was talking about - crucian fell to the bottom.

you can’t get it with your hand - but there is a skewer - it’s easy for them

We put the dryer with fish in a ventilated, shady place, we are waiting for a week, another and delicious dried fish is ready to eat.

I don’t bite or hurt everyone. Thank you son for the challenge.

It's one thing to catch a large number of fish, and quite another - to properly dispose of the catch. One of the most popular ways of processing extracted trophies is its drying and drying.

So that the processing process does not become burdensome and to protect the hung carcasses from insects, a fish dryer is used. In this review, we will talk about the various types of these devices, which are produced industrially and sold in fishing stores.

Most of the material will be devoted to how to make a fish dryer yourself at home.

Types of dryers

The simplest device for drying is a wire stretched under a canopy or an ordinary clothesline. To protect against insects, gauze is simply pounced on the fish. You can hang roach, crucian carp or bream both on wire hooks from ordinary paper clips, and by clamping them with clothespins.

This option is simple, but it is good for one-time harvesting of fish in field conditions or in a summer cottage. When the business is put on stream and good catches are regular, you need to think about a more or less decent design.

Dryers for fish can be divided into two broad categories:

  • mobile portable;
  • stationary.

Each option has its own advantages. The former can be used anywhere: from the river bank to the balcony in the apartment.

The simplest portable dryer made in China. When folded, it is very compact, you can take it with you on a fishing trip or to the country. On the spot, you can easily unfold it and hang it on any tree branch.

The latter can be called drying cabinets, they are most often used not only for fish, but also for harvesting vegetables and berries, curing meat and other food purposes.

Drying fish is easy fresh air, but you can do it with forced air supply by a fan. At the same time, the drying process is much more intensive, and the products are prepared more evenly.

In cold weather, the drying cabinet can be equipped with electric heating elements, which will also help to quickly prepare the fish for use.

A distinctive feature of the drying chambers is also the number of compartments they have. Most often, single-section options are used, but there are dryers with a large number of compartments, for some models their number reaches 5 sections.

Industrial Models

From the industrial models we liked, we distinguish two varieties. The first is structurally made in the form of a tall cabinet made of metal pipes, fitted against mosquito net. Similar models are produced by different companies under the brands "Mitek" and "Kedr".

The photo shows a dryer for meat and fish "Kedr", products under the brand "Mitek" of a similar design

The second interesting model is the IdeaFisher ECO-2 two-tier design. This collapsible design is also compact and easy to transport. In addition, depending on the conditions, it works as in suspended version, and installed on a table or on the floor.

The dryer is assembled plastic corners, and the fish is strung on special skewers.

Homemade

Let's move on to the most interesting, let's talk about how a do-it-yourself fish dryer is created. It must be said right away that there are a lot of designs of dehydrators. All options improvised designs it is impossible to describe in one article, because the fantasy of our Kulibins is truly inexhaustible.

Reference! Dehydrator in literal translation from Latin is a dehydrator, that is, the same as a dryer.

Most often, homemade dryers are made in the form of a wooden box covered with a mosquito net. At the same time, one of the running ones is a variant with dimensions: 500x500x500 mm.

Depending on the location conditions, the dryer is made in a vertical or horizontal version.

At the first stage of production, you need to prepare the required number wooden slats, sanded and coated with a protective compound. The coating should protect the structure from moisture and salts, but at the same time not give off harmful fumes that can be absorbed by drying products.

Then, according to the previously completed drawing, the frame of the future dryer is assembled. Self-tapping screws and metal corners are used for installation.

For a small structure, the size of the rails in cross section can be 25x25 millimeters. With an increase in the volume of the drying cabinet, more powerful bars will be required

On a note! The stationary dryer can be mounted directly on the wall.

After the frame is ready, proceed to the tension of the mesh. In this case, you need to decide how access to the internal space will be provided. To do this, make a door or sew a zipper.

Wall mounted dryer with hinged door. When using this design, you need to ensure that insects do not fly in while hanging the fish.

A variant of such a homemade product is the use of not a tension mesh as a sheathing, but designs from modern plastic windows. In this case, you do not need to make a separate door, but use a frame from a finished mosquito.

The design is also based wooden frame. At the bottom of the dryer are trays to collect liquid dripping from the fish

With fan

Some of the dryers made by our homemade dryers have fans in their design. Air convection in such dehydrators allows you to speed up the drying process.

Similar dehydrators are made from various plastic containers or in the form of closed cabinets through which air is driven.

Consider the manufacturing process of a simple fan dryer, for this we need:

  • plastic container of large volume, from 20 liters and above;
  • exhaust fan;
  • ventilation grille;
  • metal rods with threads and nuts suitable for them;
  • mounts for grille and fan.

We act in the following sequence:

  1. In the lid of the container we make a hole for the ventilation grill and fasten it.
  2. We mount the fan in a similar way in one of the side ends of the plastic box.
  3. In the upper part of the container we make holes for the rods and insert them, clamping them with nuts. Here we will hang fish, meat.

For drying mushrooms, berries or vegetables, it is possible to provide for the installation of special grates.

If you need to increase the temperature in such a dryer, you can use electric mats. Similar models are sold in pet stores for keeping reptiles.

Advice! You can increase the temperature in the dehydrator by installing conventional incandescent bulbs. At the same time, they should be positioned so that drops from the products do not fall on them.

When the dryer is ready and the fish is caught, you can start salting and actually drying it. The whole process requires a description in a separate article, but here we will give brief tips.

  1. Do not wash the fish before salting, it is enough just to buy it up a little from adhering sand, grass and other debris.
  2. Use only coarse salt for salting, in no case use "Extra" or iodized salt.
  3. Caught in a hot time, peaceful fish that eats plant foods must be gutted before salting! Otherwise, the food in the stomach can rot and ruin the finished product.
  4. When hanging fish inside the drying box, do not let them touch, otherwise even drying will not be ensured in these places.

Conclusion

A well-made dryer will not only become a reliable assistant in drying fish, but will also allow you to harvest other products, such as meat, fruits and berries, vegetables and mushrooms. In addition, it will encourage you to use it, which means it will help you increase your catches.

A dehydrator is a device that is a dryer for products (greens, fish, meat, mushrooms, nuts, vegetables and fruits). Also, this device can be used to cook healthier (dried, without any other processing) food, such as various desserts, sprouted cereals, cookies, chips and more. Needlework lovers create dry flower bouquets, papier-mache items, herbarium and other decorative crafts. Dehydration of products in the device occurs due to the action warm air, infrared or sunlight.

Store-bought appliances are quite expensive. They allow you to maintain a constant set temperature inside the drying chamber. Making a dehydrator with your own hands is an opportunity available to everyone to save on the device and get a device that allows you to quickly dry products in the required quantity.

A homemade dryer can be made from an old refrigerator. This will make a good dehydrator for fruits and vegetables.

Manufacturing algorithm

The process of manufacturing a drying plant from a refrigerator occurs according to the following scheme.

  1. Carefully dismantle the compressor, radiator and freezer so as not to damage the pipes and avoid leakage of the working substance (refrigerant).
  2. Remove the inner lining and insulation, leaving the sealing gum on the door.
  3. In the place where the compressor was installed, a fan is mounted.
  4. On top (on the roof) of the refrigerator, a hole is made for a pipe (a two-meter section with a diameter of 100 mm is enough) or an aluminum corrugation 3 m long, which is fixed with glue.
  5. A hook is attached to the door to securely fix it.
  6. Attach wooden slats to the side walls of the box from the refrigerator with self-tapping screws or bolts after about 10-20 cm, in order to then put shelves on them.
  7. If any holes remain, they are closed.
  8. To speed up the drying process, an exhaust hood is placed on the pipe or corrugation.

The final design is shown in the photo below.

The nuances of creating a design

The inner lining and insulation are removed, because plastic and foam plastic decompose when heated, releasing harmful substances.

The insulation should be dismantled with gloves and a respirator to protect against glass wool (if it served as a heater).

Since the remaining tin cabinet is not very rigid, it may be necessary to increase its degree by installing spacers or a galvanized inner casing.

For blowing products, it is allowed to use a conventional exhaust fan power 18 W, diameter 125 mm, only installed to blow air inside. Installing a fan heater will significantly speed up the whole process, increasing the productivity of the installation. Instead, one or two can be attached to the back wall. electric heating elements with a total power of up to two kW - then the device will work as an electric dryer. In this case, a second exhaust fan should be installed in the upper part of the box.

The created unit can be used all year round. But if a conventional fan is installed, then painting the case black, as well as placing the device in the sun in the warm season, increases the temperature inside, which speeds up the entire process of drying products.

In order for the created dryer to work efficiently, it is necessary to provide good blowing of the product laid on the sheets. This is achieved by leaving a gap of 2 cm between the box and the door on one side, and back wall box on the other.

When using a refrigerator with conventional fans without installing heating elements, it is enough to remove only the compressor with freezer and radiator. Thus, the grooves for installing shelves on them remain, but if necessary, you need to add more. as shelves can be applied:

  • grates designed for grilling, but with cut off handles;
  • metal sheets with holes drilled in them;
  • grids with different cell sizes;
  • old mesh shelves from the refrigerator;
  • lattice structures made of wire or wooden slats.

It is easy to come up with a variety of options for creating shelves for vegetables and other products on your own and make them from improvised materials.

If the compressor is in working condition, and the cooler circulation system is not damaged, then these parts may be useful for creating.

Creating a dryer from a refrigerator takes several hours with the necessary parts and tools. Design can be improved different ways, equipping, for example, with temperature sensors and a simple automation system, or experimenting with the location of fans. To prevent insects from getting inside the dryer, ventilation holes close mosquito net or gauze folded in 2 or 3 layers.

Homemade dehydrator

A dehydrator can be made from a homemade cabinet in a manner similar to the previous one. Only instead of a refrigerating chamber, a plywood cabinet stands out here. For this you will need the following materials:

  • plywood or chipboard, fiberboard;
  • wooden slats;
  • metal corners and screws;
  • aluminium foil;
  • electric heater;
  • 2 fans;

It is better to use a fan heater instead of a separate heating element. The other fan will be normal, while working on the hood.

The cabinet must be designed in such a way as to provide unobstructed air circulation. It is collected in this order.

Fans can be connected in parallel and switched on with a switch. Also, the design can be additionally equipped with light bulbs showing the operation of the installation. The fan heater is equipped built-in thermostat. It will automatically turn on the heater heating. If necessary, you can turn off one spiral to reduce the power of the installation.

Simple solar dryer for fruits and vegetables

The solar dryer can be made in various ways. Wherein no electricity costs: vegetables or fruits are dried by the energy of the sun's rays. Suitable for summer residents simplest design, which can be done with a hammer, saw, stapler and scissors. The work on creating the installation is performed in the following sequence.

  1. Assemble the frame of the desired size, based on the required volume of workpieces, for example, from wooden bars 50 by 50 mm.
  2. Sheathe it from the sides and back with plywood or boards.
  3. The back wall is sheathed from the inside with a metal sheet.
  4. coloring inner part in black to make the air warmer.
  5. At an angle that provides the best exposure to sunlight, shelves made of mesh, wire, plywood, tin, plastic and other materials are installed.
  6. Ventilation holes are made in the upper and lower parts of the structure, the size of which must correspond to the dimensions of the installation.
  7. They are covered with gauze or a mosquito net to prevent insects from entering the drying cabinet.
  8. The front part of the box is made in the form of a frame fixed on canopies.
  9. It is covered with glass transparent plastic, polycarbonate or polyethylene film (fixed with a stapler).
  10. A stand for a box is made from bars or metal pipes.

Also, the created design can simply be supported on something. Possible appearance shown in the photo below.

In such a cabinet, by heating the metal sheet, temperature 40-50 degrees. Ventilation ensures the removal of moisture released from the fruit.

Solar dehydrator with collector

A more complex version of the solar dryer (shown in the photo below) consists of two departments:

  • air heating zone, consisting of a collector;
  • drying zones where products are located.

The front parts of both zones are covered with a transparent material, for example, glass, polycarbonate.

Collector is a box, the bottom of which is covered with a thin sheet of metal painted black. A heat insulator is laid under it ( mineral wool or sawdust) to minimize heat loss. Air enters the heating zone through the ventilation openings. Then it enters up through the shelves with products and exits.

By installing black tubes as an absorbent, for example, painted aluminum corrugation, you can increase the temperature of heating the air with a collector.

For the device to work effectively, it must be constantly kept with a directional collector towards the sun.. If the collectors are installed on three sides, then there is no need for rotation, such a drying unit will work all day. All cracks are sealed with sealant.

Solar dryer with fan and thermostat

To create a working automated model with a length of 1 m, a height of 0.6 m and a width of 0.53 m, the following materials will be needed:

  • glass;
  • wooden bars and slats;
  • plywood;
  • metal corners;
  • aluminum sheet;
  • fan with a diameter of 120 mm with a voltage of 12 V;
  • mosquito net;
  • thermostat (for example, W1209), consisting of a temperature controller and a thermostat;
  • voltage stabilizer with a KR142EN8B chip;
  • a solar battery that produces a voltage of 12 V;
  • metal mesh for pallets.

The scheme of the apparatus is shown in the photo below.

The construction algorithm is as follows.

  1. According to the scheme above, a frame is assembled from beams and plywood, connecting individual elements with self-tapping screws, metal corners.
  2. The body is sealed.
  3. Wheels (40-100 mm in diameter) are attached to the bottom, so that it is convenient to turn the structure in the sun.
  4. They make the back door of glass so that you can stack the products, as well as observe the drying process.
  5. Install after 7 cm seven shelves.
  6. Shelves are made of mosquito or steel mesh and slats.
  7. An aluminum sheet is laid on the collector panel, pre-painted with black heat-resistant paint.
  8. Mount the fan on top.
  9. They assemble an electrical circuit by connecting a stabilizer to each other, solar battery, thermostat and fan as shown in the diagram below.
  10. Set the controller to the desired operating temperature.

The door must be hermetically sealed so that insects do not enter inside.

The stabilizer is needed to maintain a constant voltage at the fan contacts of 12 V. Further improvement of the created design is possible by fan speed control. It is recommended to rotate the device so that the collector and the battery are constantly illuminated by sunlight.

Assembling the infrared dryer

For mushrooms, vegetables, nuts and fruits, an infrared dryer is suitable. Making it yourself is pretty easy. For this you will need the following materials:

  • iron wire with a diameter of 5 to 8 mm;
  • cardboard box, for example, from a vacuum cleaner;
  • aluminium foil;
  • metal mesh;
  • bulb socket;
  • awl;
  • screwdriver;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • cartridge for an ordinary light bulb with fasteners;
  • thermometer;
  • infrared lamp;
  • aluminum tape or glue.

The installation is created in the following sequence.

  1. The inside of the box is pasted over with aluminum foil, using tape or glue for this.
  2. Shelves are made from a grid according to the size of the box.
  3. On any wall near the bottom, a hole is made for the supply wire and the cartridge is fixed with self-tapping screws.
  4. Screw in the infrared bulb.
  5. A thermometer is attached to any sidewall.
  6. Cut the wire into pieces that are approximately 5 mm longer than the width of the box.
  7. Pierce holes in the sidewalls for the rods for the racks.
  8. They insert a wire into them and seal its protruding ends with adhesive tape from the outside.
  9. Laying shelving.

As a result, after all the manipulations, you will get an installation similar to that shown in the photo below.

The side parts of the box can serve as a lid, or it can be made separately from the same cardboard. If you want to automate the design, then you should use temperature sensor. Under his control, the light bulb will turn on automatically.

Also, in the created design, you can use an incandescent lamp (its sufficient power is 60 W) or heating film used to create underfloor heating. In the latter case, at home, a piece of 50 by 100 cm with a power of 110 watts is enough. In the general case, the length of the fragment is chosen according to the box used.

When using the film, you will also need:

  • insulation, for example, bituminous, used to create underfloor heating;
  • a set consisting of 2 clamps, two eyelets and the same number of ring terminals, which is designed to connect the power to the film.

PVC tape is laid on top of the bituminous insulation. To connect the film, you will need to solder wires and contacts.

This dryer allows temperatures around 60 degrees. It can be rolled up and laid on the bottom of a box made in the previously indicated way.

Do-it-yourself dehydrator for meat and fish

A dryer for meat and fish is easy to make from a plastic container. For this you will need:

  • fan;
  • a plastic container with a lid;
  • steel bars with a cross section of 5 mm or threaded studs with washers and nuts;
  • pipe cut or coupling.

The whole process of making a dehydrator for drying fish, meat and drying other products from a plastic container is shown in the video:

It is easy to assemble a dehydrator for fish, meat, vegetables, fruits and other products from improvised materials: plywood, boxes, a refrigerator. Various working old fans are suitable for blowing. In each case, it will be necessary, of course, to think over a way to secure them, but then the economic costs will be reduced. In small installations, you can use a fan from a computer, having previously provided the desired supply voltage. If you automate the dryer, then in terms of functionality it will be able to compete with factory counterparts. When drying meat and fish, be sure to prevent flies from entering the interior of the appliance so that they do not spoil the food.

Often, anglers get a big catch, which is measured not in pieces, but in kilograms. At the same time, there are difficulties in the preservation of fish.

To prevent spoilage, it can be dried in special dryers. They can be made independently or purchased in specialized stores.

Features of salting and drying fish using a dryer

When harvesting the resulting catch, it is necessary to remember the recommendations that allow you to properly dry and:

  • For a piquancy of taste, it is better to add a few dozen black peppercorns and crushed bay leaves to the salt;
  • For refinement of taste, some salt is mixed with sugar, the ratio should be 3:1;
  • So that the fish does not deteriorate, it is better to gut it before salting or drying;
  • Dried fish is very attractive to flies, in order to prevent their appearance, it is necessary to make special traps for insects.

Where to buy a fish dryer and at what price?

A fish dryer is a necessary device for a fisherman. It can be purchased:

  • in a specialized fishing store;
  • hardware store;
  • in online stores;
  • in sports shops in the fishing department.

The device protects the fish from insects thanks to a special mesh that can be fastened with a sewn-in zipper. The dryer is made of durable materials of high quality.

There are several types of industrial dryers:

  • On stretch marks;
  • on the frame;
  • Rectangular;
  • single tier;
  • Multi-tiered.

The cost of fish dryers is different, it all depends on what material it is made of:

  • 300-600 rubles (the basis of such devices is a dense mosquito net, which is stretched over a frame made of light metals, quite convenient to use, you can easily take it with you on a fishing trip);
  • 700-1500 rubles (the device has several tiers and chains, contains a large amount of catch);
  • From 1500 and above (the frame of the dryer is made of durable heavy metals, steel is mainly used, it is not mobile).

When choosing a dryer in a store, you need to weigh all the advantages of each model, and then choose the device for yourself.

What can you make a dryer for fish with your own hands?

Despite the wide variety of models of fish dryers, each fisherman needs his own, which will fully satisfy the needs. Not all purchased devices are convenient for use in individual cases. Therefore, quite often, lovers of fishing make dryers on their own.

This takes into account:

  • Place for drying fish;
  • The materials from which the dryer is made;
  • Conditions in rooms where drying is planned.

Considering all the nuances, the angler decides for himself which device suits him. Most often, the dryer is made:

  • From wooden bars;
  • From plastic panels or boxes.

The production technology of each type is different, includes its own characteristics.

wooden blocks

The dryer, which is made of wooden bars, is considered the simplest design.

To make such a device, you need to prepare:

  • self-tapping screws;
  • Bars of wood;
  • Mosquito net.

After preparing all necessary materials, you can start assembling:

  1. It is better to make this type of dryer on legs, so first of all it is necessary to measure the height of the product, as well as the length of the supporting elements.
  2. Cut the wooden bars according to the measurements taken, connect them together using self-tapping screws. The frame is ready.
  3. On the sides of the frame, you need to make two small blocks on which a string or clothesline will be placed.
  4. Cover the entire structure, starting from the top, with a mosquito net, attach it to the dryer using a stapler.
  5. To build a cover, for this purpose any available material that fits in size can be used.

Note! When making a device from wooden bars, the main thing is to choose the right tool that will allow you to get a high-quality and durable design.

Plastic panels and boxes

Dryers made of plastic have a rather poor throughput, therefore, in their manufacture, it is necessary to ensure the presence of an exhaust hood.

For the construction of the structure should be prepared:

  • plastic corners;
  • Glue base (you can use liquid nails);
  • bolts;
  • Screwdriver and jigsaw;
  • Hood;
  • Mosquito net.

Manufacturing plastic construction is carried out as follows:

  1. Take measurements of the height of the structure.
  2. Cut off the required number of plastic strips.
  3. Cut out the necessary parts for the cover and inlet.
  4. Fix the panel in the corner, connect the rest with each other using an adhesive base or liquid nails.
  5. After making the frame, make a cover, attach it with a corner.
  6. Similarly, do all sides of the dryer.
  7. It is necessary that at the top of the dryer along the entire length there is a finishing bar.
  8. Make corners that will be the basis for the rods.
  9. Using a thick wire, make rods that are located on opposite sides.
  10. The first side of the rod must be attached to one side, making a 90-degree bend, the second end of the rod must be freely detached from the structure in order to string fish on it, then inserted into the hole in the corner without any problems.
  11. Make a hole anywhere on the side wall, insert the hood.

The design should only work when the hood is on and the lid is closed on top.

To make the fish tasty and fragrant, you need to listen to some drying tips:

  • If the fish is larger than 30 cm, it must be gutted, put in a cold place mixed with nettles for a couple of hours.
  • Before drying, the fish must be rinsed under running clean water, remove all dirt.
  • It is important that the carcasses do not touch each other, and the abdomen is out, so no more than 10 pieces should be placed on one rod or rope.
  • Small fish are dried for 2 weeks, large ones for at least 6 weeks.
  • The most delicious fish it turns out in the spring, since it is cool and fresh outside, it is not recommended to dry the carcasses in the summer, as they will quickly deteriorate.
  • When drying under oppression, it is very important to apply one nuance, how long the fish lay under salt, the same amount of time it must be soaked in clean water, and then placed in the dryer.
  • I caught this pike with a bite activator. I have never caught these before, but now every time I bring trophy specimens from fishing! It's time for you to guarantee your catch!!!

Summer is a fertile time for picking berries, mushrooms, fishing and other pleasant activities. Often, a successful angler faces the problem of preserving the catch for a long time. Currently, there are several most used methods. Among them we can highlight the drying of fish. With the qualitative performance of this operation, the catch can be saved for a year or more. To ensure the high quality of the process, we suggest you make a fish dryer using a minimum of material and tools.

Before starting work, we consider it necessary to point out some features of such a device. An obligatory element of a modern dryer is the mesh frame of the body. Its task is to prevent the penetration of flies, which tend to lay future offspring on a fresh product. In addition, strong cords are used to secure the fish, which can withstand the weight of the processed catch. The trays located at the bottom of the dryer will ensure the collection of brine released from the fish and moisture that is actively released in the first few days.

Assembling the fish drying box

We begin the manufacturing process of the device with the installation of the case. To make a dryer for fish with your own hands fit various materials. In the design we are describing, the body is made of wooden bars with a section of 30 × 30 millimeters. Wood for parts can be selected as hardwood and conifers. Focusing on the desired dimensions of the fixture, cut the required number of parts in accordance with the presented photo using a carpentry saw, electric circular saw or electric jigsaw.

After sawing, to avoid injury during the operation of the dryer, the bars must be planed to smoothness using a manual or electric planer. We recommend that you assemble the case using self-tapping screws, wrapping them with a screwdriver or a screwdriver. The ease of assembly allows you to quickly assemble the dryer during a multi-day fishing trip to remote areas of our country. At high summer air temperatures, drying may be the only way to save the catch.

Additional strength of the design of the dryer will help to provide additionally installed transverse bars. For best build quality, we recommend corner connections strengthen by installing additional metal parts. Steel corners are also attached with self-tapping screws.

For ease of use, adding portions of fresh fish and removing finished products It is convenient to supplement the dryer with an opening door. It is made in the form of a frame with a transverse bar and is additionally reinforced with window corners. For hanging the door, you can use different kind hinges or piano hinges, fixing them to the body and door with small screws.

The next step in the installation of a do-it-yourself fish dryer is the installation of internal cables for hanging fish. This is conveniently done using eye screws, which are a steel ring attached to a threaded rod. You can use any screwdriver to install them. It is enough to insert the tool into the ring, press lightly at the beginning of screwing, and then turn the eye screw along its axis to screw it to the required depth. Tie any strong cord to the fastener rings.

Finishing the installation of the device is to install the bottom in its lower part, made of sheets of plywood or hardboard. Cover the walls of the dryer with a strong nylon net with a minimum mesh size. To do this, it is good to use window mesh found in hardware stores.
