The choice of materials for the manufacture of benches and benches

For the manufacture of the simplest benches and benches for gazebos, apply:

  • wooden logs, half-beam;
  • edged and unedged boards (usually 40 mm, 50 mm thick);
  • in some cases - brick (construction or facing);

It is also necessary to adhere to the accepted standards, according to which the height of the bench should be within 40 - 50 cm, the width of its seat - at least 30 - 40 cm.
As a result, it is necessary to make a drawing of the bench, on which it is necessary to carefully coordinate the dimensions of all its details. One of the typical mistakes of novice home craftsmen is ignoring the thickness of the material (boards, beams, pipes, etc.), as well as the height of the protruding heads of bolts, nuts, as a result of which final assembly product may not work.

The simplest design of the bench provides for the presence of supports in the form of vertically dug (cemented) trimmings of logs or a half-beam, with a planed board (40mm, 50mm thick) or a half-beam laid on them and fixed with nails. It is advisable to align building level both the vertical installation of the supports, and the horizontal laying of the board.

Manufacturing of bench parts

When using bolts, screws and nuts on wooden furniture, it is advisable to make their heads recessed, for which it is necessary to pre-drill (countersink) the holes for them to the required size and depth.

Final bench assembly

The assembly of the product is carried out according to the drawing.
To fasten the parts together, it is necessary to select screws and nails of such length that they are securely fastened, but at the same time, the penetration of a nail or screw through both parts to be fastened, as a result of which openly protruding tips of nails and screws are formed.
When insufficient rigidity and instability are detected assembled structure, it is necessary to take measures to strengthen it by using additional amplifiers and spacers.

If the table is mobile, then all you need to complete its manufacture is to install 4 strong legs. But, in cases where the table is built-in, to install it, you must first install the foundation. It can be concrete or brick. A simpler solution is to make stable strong legs, dig them in and concrete them.

The frame of the table should be 15–30 cm smaller than the tabletop. This must be taken into account when installing the legs.

If massive beams were chosen as the legs for the built-in table, then before installing them in the recesses, the wood should be treated with a special protective composition against decay. Then install them, check the verticality, fix and fill the solution. For the table to be stable, you need to wait a few days for the concrete to harden.

The optimal height of the table is 75–80 cm. This means that the height of the legs depends on the thickness of the tabletop.

Before screwing the screws and installing the mounting brackets, lubricate the attachment points with an adhesive, for example, PVA with fine sawdust.

  • drills for making holes of various diameters;
  • wood screws, having a length of 7 cm and a diameter of 8–10 mm;
  • varnish/paint.

  • for a long leg - 91 cm long, 2 pcs.;
  • for a short leg - 55.7 cm long, 2 pcs.;
  • for sitting - 31.5 cm long, 2 pcs.;
  • 34 cm long, 6 pieces;
  • for the back - 42 cm long, 1 piece;
  • for jumper - 34 cm, 1 pc.

  • card loop for attaching to the back leg of the chair and the bottom of the seat - 2 pcs.;
  • bolts Ø=8 mm, length 70 mm - 2 pcs.;
  • washers for Ø=8 mm - 6 pcs.;
  • furniture dowels Ø=10 mm, length 50 mm - 2 pcs.;
  • cap nuts - 4 pcs.;
  • waterproof glue for woodworking;
  • hairpin Ø=8 mm, length 470 mm with double-sided thread.

First of all, make a plan of action and draw a drawing. Cut out pieces according to size. They need to drill holes and make grooves with a cutter. Build the connections in this order:

  1. On the support bar, insert the slats into the groove with a spike.
  2. Glue the details.
  3. Insert furniture dowels into the holes at the ends of the seat, having a depth of 30 mm.

In the next step, assemble the chair frame:

  • To the racks you need to fix the back with glue, and on their lower side - the crossbar.
  • The seat dowels should be inserted into the guide grooves on the legs.
  • Install the stud under the seat by screwing M8 cap nuts on both sides of it.
  • Glue the cross bars into the back leg.
  • Bolt the front and back legs together to make a folding chair.
  • Now you should screw the seat to the rear legs. This can be done using ombre loops.

Finally, the chair or chairs, if you have collected several, should be painted with protective agents.

Small stumps will be used as chairs, and a large stump will be used for the base of the table. A built-in table in the gazebo can be built from brick, possibly left over from construction. This design will serve you faithfully for many years.

To make this table, you need to follow the step-by-step instructions:

  • First of all, strengthen the base for setting the table. Dig a small hole, fill the bottom with rubble and level it. Lay a waterproofing layer on it. Then fill the base with concrete.
  • Now make a square table base. Dimensions: 2-3 bricks in length and 6-8 in height.
  • Place a countertop on this base. It can be a wooden shield or a stone blank. It all depends on your financial capabilities.

Manufacturing sequence:

  • Make a drawing. Prepare tools/materials.
  • Supports can have different shapes, but, as a rule, X-shaped legs are used. To make them, fix 2 bars in the center at an angle of 45º. For reliability, they should be strengthened from above with additional slats.
  • X-shaped legs should be connected with two bars, which are installed parallel to each other and correspond to the length of the table.
  • The tabletop can be made from 5-7 boards. Install it on prepared supports. Use furniture corners as fasteners.

Upon completion of all work, treat the table with paints and varnishes.
