Starting the game for the first time or after several dozen attempts, you will inevitably find yourself in dangerous situations, sometimes absolutely hopeless. If you are playing the game for the first time, you should know that death in Project Zomboid is an integral part of the gaming experience. With each attempt, you will encounter new opportunities for creativity and, for sure, will soon find your own style of passage.

Character Creation

After choosing a game mode, you will go to the character creation menu. For details on character creation, see the Player page. Which will help you solve all the issues related to character creation and explain the meaning of various perks and professions. If you are a beginner, you may find the Thick Skin perk useful, which will increase your chances of surviving the fight against zombies.

However, you should understand that death is inevitable. The game tells us about this, even when loading the world, and for the first few times, you will probably die in a few game days, or even hours. It happens, don't worry. As long as you're just gaining experience, each subsequent time you'll play much better and also learn something new.

Below are some examples of the initial stages of the game, but first let's look at short description characteristics of certain perks. Currently, the game is still not finished, and some traits just need balancing, while others are not implemented properly. When creating your character, you will need to balance its traits by going either to 0 or plus (Points to spend).

Examples of negative perks that won't make the game too difficult are Cowardly, Doesn't Like Books, Tired, High Thirst, and Prone to Sickness. Cowardly has not so much Negative influence, since in the early stages of the game it is better not to encounter zombies at all until you find one of the weapons Baseball Bat , Ax or Hunting Knife . Doesn't like books and Tired doesn't have any "negative" effects per se, since it doesn't actually decrease the player's stats, it just increases the time to read books/sleep. high thirst are one of the "free" points. Your character will only need to drink 30% more, which is initial stage not a problem at all, since every house has water in the taps, and you can carry a couple of bottles of water with you. Weight and Endurance

You can only carry a limited amount of items in your inventory, as the game has a limit on the maximum weight you can carry. By default, you can carry 12 kilograms with you, this value varies depending on your "Strength" parameter and can be changed at the beginning of the game using character traits or already in the game itself (but very slowly). Remember - overweight not only slows you down, but also takes away some health from your character, so be careful how much stuff you carry with you.

The character also has limited stamina. When running, carrying heavy things or swinging weapons, as well as fighting zombies, the character spends strength and the fatigue icon appears. A tired character runs very slowly and can swing weapons with great difficulty, which increases your chance of being killed by zombies. Your "Fitness" parameter is responsible for your stamina. You can increase it in the same way as "Strength". If the situation allows, you can relax by right-clicking on some furniture (chair, bed, sofa). Depending on the level of fatigue, a different amount of time will be spent on rest. You can also set an alarm on your watch and sleep for 1-2 hours, this will also give a good effect, plus you will want to sleep a little later, which can be useful when outing in the city.

Dream

In single player, your character will get tired. You will be able to rest or sleep on most chairs and beds, but it is advisable to sleep on beds, especially double beds, as sleeping on chairs and sofas can result in back pain. If your character is overstressed, in pain or panicked, they will need sleeping pills in order to fall asleep.

Death

Since your character will be very active in the first days and weeks, you need to receive about 2000 (or slightly more) calories per day so that you do not lose weight and do not increase it. Remember - the less you run and fight zombies, the fewer calories you need and vice versa.

By developing this skill, you can get more saturation points from any dish you cook, as well as get more bonus points that reduce boredom and sadness. As mentioned above, you can add stale foods to dishes such as soup, stews, salads etc. For cooking, you will need any heat source (electric stoves, microwaves, barbecues, etc.). Be careful when cooking - an unplugged stove or microwave can burn your entire base! In order to prevent such an unpleasant situation, you can adjust time to turn off your stove or microwave by right-clicking on it and selecting the appropriate option from the menu. In addition, here you can adjust cooking temperature (the higher it is, the faster your dishes are cooked) Heat sources such as barbecues, stoves, fireplaces and campfires require fuel but can be used whether or not electricity is available.

During a zombie apocalypse, nowhere is safe. But that won't stop you barricading home that interests you. Some buildings are safer than others. Do not be afraid to turn off the electricity, water supply. The biggest nuisance associated with their absence is food spoilage. One box for collecting rainwater is enough, it's another matter if you plan to maintain a garden in the future.

1. First acquaintance


You show up at the house. And what is visible? Vast expanses, which strive to become yours. But before you go anywhere, you have to search your temporary shelter. Rummage everywhere, make sure everything is reliable: from the stove to the refrigerator.

You have found everything you need. It's time to leave home.

2. Appearance on the street

So they left a warm house and ended up in a cold and, of course, inhabited by any square meter 5 zombies, street. But not everything is not so good. Yes, the world is in the abyss, but this is not an excuse to lose heart.

Try to find yourself a weapon. There are options from a frying pan to an ax. Walk while also pressing Ctrl so that your former neighbors do not see you and decide to make a barbecue out of you.

Find a home that inspires confidence. Be cultured: don't just break down the door, look for a workaround, such as a window that can be opened. Walk quietly around the house, because there may be dozing guests in it, ready to treat you to your own liver or heart. Having noticed a zombie, it is better to double-check - come up and if it rises, then clobber until you lose your pulse.

3. The house of your dreams

Have you looked at the house? Then run to draw up documents, look for boards in order to make a "euro renovation" and give your shelter a little elegant reinforcements that will emphasize all the gloom of the situation. Where to find boards? Everything is easy here: either find them, for example, in warehouses, or create them.

It is possible to make them by breaking the door or chopping firewood. In both cases, you will need to get a cold weapon (you need an ax) and go to break a door or a tree into pieces.

When the house is furnished, it's time to move on to the more peaceful part - cooking and gardening. Let's start with cooking. For example, you have meatballs. Then we take them and put them in the microwave or oven.

Do not leave your product unattended for a long time, because it will deteriorate, and the house will burn, reminding you of all your suffering for it.

Are you already over 60? And nothing to do? Then start gardening. Not in vain does it exist. For planting plants you will need: a watering can with water, seeds and a scoop.

In order to make a bed, we take a scoop and seeds in our hands. We select the territory and click on it with the right mouse button (RMB), when finished, open the seeds and plant with the RMB button. Now the only thing left is to take care of your plant.

As long as some are sitting in their own buildings and cooking or planting, real brave men go looking for weapons to fight off survivors and zombies. Instruments of death abound. We have a 9 mm pistol, a shotgun, a sawn-off shotgun, a rolling pin, a frying pan, a pencil, a pen, an ax, a kitchen knife, a board with nails, a butter knife, a spoon, a fork, a bat, a sledgehammer, a club, a cocktail and a Molotov hammer. 5. Diseases

  2. The common cold is also a very common illness. Sit at home and rest. Look through the books and baldeyte to the fullest.
  3. Infection is the worst disease. There is no cure (despite the fact that some players claim that painkillers and sleeping pills can help. In order not to get infected, you have the opportunity to wear a sweater, it is harder to bite through, but this may not reflect well if it is warm outside.

Keep in mind that over time, the population of fish in a lake or river is depleted, so you need to look for new places and first make sure that there are no zombies there. To get started, you only need a fishing rod and bait. But the choice is large - there is also a wooden spear, as well as a fishing net. And do not forget that for all manipulations with the fishing rod you will need the perk or profession "Angler", or you must find and read the appropriate magazine. It can be stored in a cabin on West Point Lake.

If you are not lucky enough to find a fishing rod, then make it yourself. What’s more, it’s so easy to make it. Using a saw, make a strong stick from a couple of planks. Take a kitchen or hunting knife, one nail or paper clip for a hook and a cord or fishing line. Keep in mind that the line is stronger than the line, and bites better with it. Combine all the components - our tool is ready. The only problem is that during fishing, the line often breaks. When the rod breaks and turns into a rod, fix it with two items: a nail or a paper clip plus cord or fishing line. Hold the rod in one hand and the bait in the other. The action takes no more than five seconds. Got some trash? Well, at least your experience grows and you achieve mastery. The higher the level of the "Fishing" skill, the less often your fishing gear breaks, and more fish gets into your pan.

Experienced fishermen can try other ways - for example, make a spear (Wooden Spear) from a tree branch and a knife (kitchen and hunting will do) and fish like Indians. Or do weaving a special network (Fishing Net) of five pieces of wire and ten coils of cord. The network is placed in the water and wait a couple of hours. In this way, live bait (small fish) is perfectly caught, which can then be used as bait.

The river is not an endless supply of fish. But you will definitely die before it ends.

By the way, about the bait. Live bait attracts only a formidable predator - a pike, and increases the chances of catching the wrong thing by 50%. The most common type of bait is worms. If you have already dug up a garden before, then you probably came across them. Take a garden shovel and - go ahead, loosen the ground. Dial more, because edible things do not always fall into the bait, and the worms swim away from the hook. For example, you can fish out a worthless shoe. Other insects are suitable for this work, namely cockroaches, grasshoppers and crickets.

If you're lucky, you can find fishing tackle (Fishing Tackle), that is, plastic bait, but you should go ashore with them with a more or less pumped level of fishing. With them, the chance to catch a perch instead of a holey sock is much higher, and you can use them repeatedly - you don’t have to collect worms and clog free space in your inventory with them.

Who do we catch? There are seven types of fish in the game. These are Pike, Catfish, Sunfish, Crappie, Trout, Largemouth Bass and Perch. They all come in small, medium and large sizes. The largest fish are pike, 50 to 120 centimeters, the smallest are dory and crappie, 15 to 35 centimeters. The medium size ranges from 20 to 90 centimeters depending on the species, while the large size ranges from 25 to 120 centimeters. One decent-sized fish fills you up for the whole day. The weight and size of the catch are important - if fortune rewarded you with big prey, then you will get more experience points to develop the skill. But this is not so easy to do - large individuals are much more likely to break off the hook, or even break the bait.

Caught prey can be fried or butchered with a knife and turned into a tender fillet that can be added to any dish, however, nutritional points are slightly reduced. If you are too lazy to cook, eat raw fish - there will be no consequences in the current assembly, the same applies to meat obtained from hunting.

The features of hunting in the world of the zombie apocalypse are such that every little thing will have to be mined and fry-soar. If at the word "hunt" you imagined a harsh safari-style fishing, then your expectations, alas, will be reduced to the size of a mouse. Yes, we will hunt mice, rats, little birds, fat rabbits and cute squirrels. In general, rodents. What attracts rodents? That's right, cheese and other small snacks. To make a silk you will need a saw, two cords and a board. Do not forget to pump yourself the first level of hunting before this. The reliability of the snare is 10%, the chance of extraction is 20%. To make a box trap, you must have a second level of hunting and one level of construction. It is done like this: a saw, three boards and five nails. The thing is also not strong - 15%, and the chance to catch an animal is 20% for both species. When you become an experienced hunter and upgrade your hunting level to the third, you will open new opportunity- cage trap. The chance of a successful hunt with it increases to 30%, and the reliability of the design increases to 20%. A cage is made of wire in the amount of five pieces - usually just enough wire accumulates in the game.

It is also worth visiting the trap because if an animal falls into it, it will attract zombies, so do not place them near your base.

And remember that the level of hunting is needed not only to open access to a variety of crafting gizmos. The higher the skill level, the stronger your traps become and the more animals fall into them. So do not neglect pumping after three points.

Hunting and fishing in the world of the zombie apocalypse is profitable, as it is an almost inexhaustible resource of nutritious protein. Hello everyone, a lot of all sorts of technical stuff happened this week. We have a few snippets of information on how progress is being made in various areas.

Animation work in progress

Everything we have done so far you can see in the recently implemented beta 34.14.

We are also thinking about animations related to the moment when the player at speed will knock down zombies or pass through bushes or trees. Such a gameplay change will greatly simplify the player's life, as it will be possible to simply break through the zombies.

Our next step is to change the texture of the characters and zombies. At the moment, the skin textures are two mirrored halves. We are going to get rid of this principle, which will allow us to create more detailed zombies. We want to create more blood texture overlays on clothing and skin.

Co-op mode update.

The new build also affected co-op. We still have problems with inviting friends, but at the same time, improved functionality for the server is already ready in 34.14.

We recently discussed this topic, after which we changed our minds, re-recorded, re-repeated our plans for dealing with scrap metal. As mentioned earlier, in build 34 we will add separate skill branches such as working with metal and smelting. All this will allow you to make metal products yourself. For example, a metal fence and metal furniture. We haven't decided how things will work out yet, so there's a lot to discuss here.
