Dishwasher connection instruction. Connecting the dishwasher - location, installation features, installation. Features of installing a dishwasher

Installing a dishwasher with your own hands will save you 1200 - 2500 rubles. The work you have to do is not the most difficult. And yet, if there is no experience, then it is better not to take risks and call the master.

But if you purchased a portable PMM, then it is easy to install it yourself - you just need to connect the water supply hose to the faucet with cold water, and lower the drainage drain into the sink.

In general, connecting a dishwasher, located permanently, consists of the following steps:

  1. Installation of PMM at the place of operation (and dismantling of the old device, if necessary);
  • If you bought a built-in dishwasher, then you need to additionally mount it in the furniture and hang it in the facade - here the main difficulty is to make the markings for the fasteners correctly so that the facade is installed evenly.
  1. Connecting the dishwasher to the outlets for draining and filling water (if necessary, extend the drain hose);
  2. Connection to a socket (if necessary, electrical work on installing a socket, laying a cable);
  3. Leveling the machine;
  4. Installation quality check.

If you are confident in your abilities, then let's get started.

What do we need

Before you install a dishwasher in a niche under the countertop or connect a stationary model, prepare the tools and plumbing fittings.

Tool:

  • Pliers, and preferably an adjustable wrench;
  • Insulating tape (vinyl or cotton), it is wrapped around a metal thread on pliers so as not to damage the fasteners when tightened;
  • FUM tape for waterproofing;
  • Drill;
  • Clamps.

Plumbing fittings:

  • Waste siphon with 1 or 2 fittings - 2 fittings will allow you to immediately connect the washing machine;
  • Tee, ¾ thread;
  • The filter providing rough water purification;
  • ball valve;
  • Hank connecting pipe.

Connection Features

So, step-by-step instruction how to connect a dishwasher step by step:

  1. If you are installing a built-in PMM, then first you need to prepare a niche, which, as a rule, should be 60 cm wide, and for narrow models 45 cm. You can level the machine with the level of the cabinets by removing the countertop and adjusting the legs of the lower cabinets. You also need to drill holes in the cabinet body for drainage, water intake hose and electrical wires.

  • Installing a dishwasher under the hob is prohibited;
  • The place for installation is chosen so that the length of the drainage hose does not exceed 1.5 meters. It is allowed to increase the length up to 5 meters, but in this case it will be difficult to guarantee the stable operation of the equipment.
  1. The next step is connecting to electricity. Please note that the socket must be of the "euro" type. You need to replace the socket if it does not meet the standards (but not the plug of the machine). Do not forget that when connected, we ensure safety, and the dishwasher is characterized by significant energy consumption. This determines the ban on the use of tees and extension cords. Installation of the outlet involves the use of a wire with a diameter of more than 2 mm. In addition, a 16A circuit breaker is additionally mounted in the electrical panel. Grounding is also performed using a 3-core wire, and it cannot be brought out to the pipes.
  2. Next - connect the dishwasher to the water supply. To do this, the water is shut off, a tee is connected to the pipe, then a filter, a ball valve and a hank. All threaded joints are insulated with a fumka - it must be wound at least 10 layers.

It is also mandatory to install a coarse filter, as it will prevent sand and rust from entering the machine from the water pipe.

  1. As for connecting the equipment to the sewer, here you can go the simple way by installing a siphon with an additional outlet and valve. In order to protect the device from water ingress from sewer pipe, must be placed in a special way drain hose- at the exit point to the sewer network, it is placed at a height of 600 mm along the wall, and then bent to ensure water flow.

  1. The final step in connecting the dishwasher is to check the device for operability. In this case, the machine is tested idle, controlling the rate of water inflow, its heating, as well as operation in the drying mode. The check is carried out without dishes, but with the obligatory addition of regenerating salt and detergents.

Finally bought a dishwasher - a very good purchase that will save us time and money. Connecting the dishwasher to electricity, sewerage and water supply is quite possible independently (any of us can do it) and is carried out in several successive stages. From correct installation dishwasher depends on the quality of its work and the duration of operation.

How to install a built-in dishwasher?

    Installation and connection of the dishwasher can be divided into 3 stages:
  1. preparation and fixing of built-in equipment in a special niche;
  2. connection to the power grid;
  3. connection to water supply and sewerage.

There are a lot of technological projects in the world that are likely to seriously change our lives. But there are, at first glance, not very catchy, but the use of which will lead to radical changes in everyday life.

Most best example— installation and installation of the dishwasher. This indispensable helper in the kitchen enters our homes more and more confidently, freeing up time for communication with children, for the realization of their interests.

But, with the acquisition of this miracle of technology, the question arises of how to install a dishwasher, perhaps to do it yourself, or it is not possible to do without a specialist, and where to turn for help?

It is good that our friend the Internet will not leave us alone with any problem. It turns out that if you wish, you can independently connect the dishwasher, of course, if you have the necessary stock of knowledge and skills.

If there are none, it is better to contact one of the companies that deal with these issues and how to install a dishwasher according to all the rules, they know from A to Z.

So, your beauty is already at home. And here the first question arises, where to put the dishwasher. Well, if your kitchen is spacious enough and there are no such questions, well, if there is no free space, you should opt for a compact dishwasher.

Dishwashers are of two types built-in and external. The question of where to put the dishwasher should be decided depending on the type of your machine.

  • External

External dishwashers are desktop and floor. All these machines are very similar to each other, and their main difference is the size. External cookware models washing machines there are compact, narrow and full-size.

Where to install a dishwasher of this type, every housewife will easily decide. Such dishwashers do not take up much space and are able to fit into different kitchen interiors.

  • Embedded

Installing built-in dishwashers will allow you to make the most economical use of the available space in the kitchen. They are partially embedded.

Some models of these machines are fully built-in and covered with fronts that are used to decorate your kitchen. It is better to decide where to install the dishwasher when buying new furniture for the kitchen.

If the spouse insists: “I want to install a dishwasher above the refrigerator,” choose a compact model. This option may be the best if your kitchen small size. The dimensions of these machines are not large and they can be installed on a table, and this type of machine can also be installed above.

If the place is chosen, then you can get to work, installing a desktop dishwasher is not at all so complicated that it requires calling a wizard. Many men also know how to install a dishwasher.

The surface on which you will install the dishwasher must be absolutely flat so that there is no vibration.

Tool and material for installation

    For work you will need:
  1. Adjustable plumbing key.
  2. Pipe wrench.
  3. Phillips and simple screwdriver (slotted).
  4. Tool for cutting plumbing pipes.
  5. A pipe countersink is a tool for removing burrs from the inside of a cut pipe.
  6. Building level is short (up to 40 cm).
  7. Electric drill with a set of feather drills for wood: 15 and 22 and 50mm.
  8. Copper plumbing pipe for supplying water to the dishwasher.

Fittings to copper pipe(The fitting is a connecting element for pipes. In our case, these are collet nuts specifically for copper pipes) (see slide show: threaded fittings or other slides Press Fittings)

Note: If you will supply water with the flexible hose included with the dishwasher (if you have enough length), then you do not need pipes and fittings.

For the water supply to the dishwasher, you can choose copper or metal-plastic pipes high pressure. In this case, the fittings are selected according to the type of pipes you have chosen.

You will also need a tee or a plumbing elbow with a locking ball valve. The valve will allow you to disconnect the dishwasher from the general plumbing system apartments.

To install such a machine, you need to connect it to cold water and sewerage, you will also need a separate one. If you have even the slightest doubt about your competence, you should not take risks, it is better to turn to professionals.

As a rule, most people are inclined to this solution to this issue. Do not neglect the knowledge of specialists. The prices for such work are quite democratic.

Floor standing dishwashers fully meet the needs big family. If you have already decided on the place where to put the dishwasher and are confident in your abilities, you can proceed.

If desired, a dishwasher can be installed under the countertop in your kitchen. Modern models dishwashers fit perfectly into the interior of the kitchen.

  • The first step in installing a dishwasher

The first thing to start with is to bring water. Usually, a special tap is made on the cold water supply pipe. This is where you should connect the hose that comes with the dishwasher.

When buying a car, pay attention to the length of the hose, in the same store you can buy a longer hose if the distance from the car to the water pipe is large.

  • The second stage of installing a dishwasher

At this stage, you need to connect the machine to the sewer, a special drain hose must be connected to the sewer, this work must be done with great care to avoid leakage, your plans probably do not include repairs from neighbors from the lower floor.

  • The third stage of installing a dishwasher

The most serious and responsible task. You can’t do without a conventional outlet for mounting and installing a dishwasher. You will definitely need a separate power line and grounding.

When deciding where to install the dishwasher, think about where you will make such an outlet. Power engineers are advised to install a special switch on this outlet, which will automatically turn off the machine in case of voltage drops in the network.

  • Fourth step of installing a dishwasher

Now you can turn on the machine and check it in operation. For the first test, do not use dishes, limit yourself to detergent.

Carefully look at all the connections, immediately eliminate the shortcomings of your work. Well, if everything is in order, then the installation of the dishwasher is done correctly, you can safely use your assistant.

So from the moment “I want a dishwasher” to the moment of happy possession, there were not so many problems separating you.

Today, in any city, there are a lot of companies that install dishwashers, so if you have the slightest doubt about your competence, contact the specialists.

Experienced craftsmen will easily mount all the necessary connections, install a power supply line equipped with an emergency shutdown, and save you a lot of problems and headaches.

    The main steps for connecting a dishwasher are:
  1. installation of a separate outlet and power supply to it;
  2. organization of a separate water supply;
  3. device for draining water into the sewer;
  4. checking the operation of the dishwasher.

This dishwasher wiring diagram shows the required and necessary work which can be carried out in any order convenient for you. Let's consider each stage of work in more detail.

The easiest solution to connect the dishwasher to electricity is to plug it into a socket specially prepared for this during the repair. If there is no such outlet, some additional effort will have to be made to provide the new machine with energy.

    Connecting a dishwasher with your own hands is possible subject to certain safety requirements, as listed below:
  • Since the power consumption of the dishwasher is quite high, the use of tees and extension cords for connection may cause damage to the dishwasher and even cause a fire.
  • You can not connect the machine to the one intended for the electric stove.
  • For the device in the right place of the outlet, a wire with a diameter of at least 2 mm should be brought from the electrical panel.
  • A 16 A protective switch is installed in it, which will automatically turn off the power supply when the maximum acceptable level network load.
  • When connecting the dishwasher yourself, it should be remembered that in order to ensure the actual grounding of the machine, the cable supplied to the outlet must be three-core.

Pro tip: Never "ground" electrical appliances to heating or gas pipes, as well as on water pipes! It is very dangerous!

In most cases, the first start-up of the dishwasher is described in the instruction manual - whether you like it or not, you will have to familiarize yourself with it.

There is nothing particularly difficult in the first launch - it is simply the first one, and for some reason most people are afraid of it and create some problems for themselves. If you describe the launch in stages, then it looks like this.

We plug the machine into the socket and open the water supply tap. At the bottom there is a hole closed with a cork. We open it and, using a special funnel, pour salt into it to soften the liquid - we pour exactly as much as it fits there.

Water will rise from the hole, but this is not scary - it should be so. Approximately half of the standard package of this emollient is used to fill the container with salt. It should be noted that the salt used in the dishwasher is special - ordinary ( salt) is not suitable.

Then we turn on the power, pour powder into a special compartment (you will find it in the instructions) or put a tablet, close the door tightly, set the shortest washing mode and watch how the machine works.

After the first wash inner part the machine will be washed, and it will be possible to use it again. Basically, everything. It remains to add a little - in particular, the importance of adjusting the "legs" of the machine. Connecting the dishwasher yourself without this stage of work will be incomplete.

Twisting or unscrewing the front legs of the dishwasher, you will need to achieve its clear position in the level - this is necessary for the correct and durable operation of mechanisms that have an axis of rotation.

We are talking about the same pump motor or rotating nozzles, which, if the machine is installed incorrectly, will wear out faster.

A large amount of electricity is spent on heating water, hot drying and pump operation. If high-performance technologies have been applied in the manufacture of the dishwasher, then it does not need to be in large numbers energy. On the contrary, such a model will do little, trying to use resources economically.

The power consumption of a dishwasher depends on its class. The most economical dishwashers can be considered class A, B and C: they have the highest rating, as they consume only 0.67-1.5 kW.

Models of class D and E receive an average rating, as they have a higher power. Finally, the representatives of groups F and G are considered the most inefficient in terms of energy consumption - their average values are from 2.3 to 2.7 kW. Usually these include old dishwashers.

There are also class A + models that consume no more than 0.63 kW per cycle in the “economical wash” mode. But this is not the limit: manufacturers are constantly improving their devices, wanting to enter the market with the most highly efficient dishwasher.

    In turn, economical models can differ significantly from each other in terms of energy consumption:
  1. class A - from 0.67 to 1.06 kW;
  2. class B - from 1.07 to 1.1 kW;
  3. class C - from 1.11 to 1.5 kW.

Obviously, the power consumption of the dishwasher of the third group is one third more than the first. An excellent reason to buy a more highly efficient model. However, there are other ways to save money.

Energy saving

Since the main amount of electricity is spent on heating water, it is sometimes recommended to connect the device directly to a pipe with hot water. Like, so the work of the dishwasher will take much less consumed kilowatts of energy.

And indeed: the dishwasher takes water from the water supply, compares its temperature with the desired one and heats it only when necessary. But will it save you money?

It all depends on how hot water ends up in your home. If it is heated by a boiler, then it is advisable to compare the amount of kW it needs with that needed by the dishwasher.

If your electric storage heater is more economical than a dishwasher, then hot water can be used. If you are a resident apartment building and use the central water supply, again pay attention to the cost of a cube of hot and cold water.

It might be cheaper to heat it up. Concerning geysers, then usually the cost of gas is slightly lower than the cost of electricity, and therefore you can use water heated with a column.

When connecting the dishwasher to electricity, remember that the outlet should not be too close to the sink or water / gas pipes, otherwise this may cause a short circuit and even a fire.

Dishwasher outlet

The dishwasher must be connected to the power supply through a modern, high-quality socket that has a reliable ground. Many users try to replace the euro plug with a regular one, since the modern plug with grounding contacts does not fit the old sockets.

This may result in safety issues with the appliance during operation, as well as the loss of guarantees that the device will be unsafe even when turned off.

It is very convenient if the outlet is installed in advance, even at the stage of repair. If the repair has already been made and the furniture has been installed, then additional efforts will be required to install this element.

An important condition is safety!

The installation of this equipment must be carried out according to certain rules, only in this way the electrical appliance can be made safe for use.

    These generally accepted rules include:
  • This unit is a powerful device with high power consumption. Because of this, during its use it is not recommended to use extension cords or tees for connection - this can lead to damage or even fire to the device.
  • It is also not allowed to use the same socket for connecting an electric stove and a dishwasher. For safe operation, the dishwasher must have a separate outlet.
  • The socket should be installed in a convenient place, for example, above the baseboard behind the appliance.
  • It is necessary to run a wire with a diameter of 2 mm from the electrical panel. In this device, in addition, a 16 A protective switch is installed, which will turn off the electricity if the load on the network exceeds the maximum allowable level.
  • To make grounding, you need to prepare a special three-core cable. This should be taken into account if you plan to independently connect equipment, a professional electrician knows all the nuances.
Important! No need to ground water, gas or heating pipes. This poses a great danger to life!

Residents of an apartment building will not be able to ground the dishwasher in their apartment.

To protect such powerful equipment, as well as the people who use it, from emergency situations, it is necessary to connect an outlet designed specifically for it to the switchboard with a separate cable of at least 2.5 mm2.

Tools needed to install the outlet

    Installing a dishwasher outlet is a simple process, but it requires special tools:
  1. slotted screwdriver - 2 pieces (2 and 4 mm);
  2. Phillips screwdriver - 2 pieces (2 and 3 mm);
  3. indicator screwdriver;
  4. knife for mounting;
  5. pliers and special nippers for cutting on the side;
  6. a hammer.

All tools must have plastic handles. If there is no insulation on the tool, then you will have to make rubber nozzles from a hose of the desired diameter.

It is easier to mount an outdoor socket, but it can interfere with the installation of furniture. It is better to buy a recessed socket with grounding, which is not too difficult to install even for a non-professional.

    Installation consists of the following steps:
  • First, a convenient place for installation is selected. Then you need to mark it and make a hole using a puncher with a nozzle for this type of drilling.
  • The location of the strobe is determined using a level. This is necessary for wiring. You can do it with a shredder.
  • Before installing the socket box, it is necessary to check with a level whether there is any deviation from the horizontal surface.
  • Using gypsum and water, make putty and fix the plastic box in the wall.
  • Lay the cable in a strobe, and attach the wiring to the wall in some places with plaster.
  • The ends of the cable are stripped of insulation, and the three-core wire is divided into separate cores (5 cm from the edge).
  • You need to turn off the power in switchboard. To do this, turn off or unscrew the plugs. For safety, the absence of voltage is checked by an indicator. Only then can the socket be connected.
  • Wires are connected to contacts.
  • All power wires are hidden in the socket, and its working part must be attached with self-tapping screws to the installed plastic box.
  • On the last step the cover is screwed on. Before doing this, make sure that all wires are connected and insulated, and that the working part of the socket is securely fixed.

Any home master can handle the process of installing an outlet if he knows how to hold the necessary tools in his hands.

But you should not take risks if there is no knowledge about the electrician at all, because here you need to competently complete all the stages of the process, observing safety precautions, only then you can be sure of the reliability of the final result.

The plumbing is connected to cold water. It is advisable to install a filter on the water, which will reduce its hardness. This will greatly extend the life of the device.

If you do not pay due attention to the quality of water, then the machine will quickly fail. The check valve in the device will break. This will lead to the fact that even cleanly washed dishes will smell unpleasant.

So that check valve not out of order, filters are put on the water. In addition, the plumbing is connected only to cold water. It is not advisable to connect to hot water, because the quality of such water is not subject to the necessary requirements.

    Steps for connecting the water supply:
  1. shutting off water - usually the faucet is in the kitchen;
  2. disconnecting the hose from the mixer;
  3. a tee is screwed onto the pipe and connected to the mixer;
  4. a ball valve is connected to the tee (in the middle branch). The latter has an outlet to which the hose from the dishwasher is already attached;
  5. a filter is installed on the outlet to retain debris.

The hose included with the machine may be too short. It will not be enough to connect with the pipe to the mixer. In this case, it is recommended to purchase a longer hose. Do not try to build up the old one - this will not be a very reliable solution.

One of the most common ways to independently connect the device to the drainage system is to organize a drain through a siphon. This procedure should be carried out carefully and follow all installation recommendations.

The water drain must be equipped with a check valve and an additional outlet. This will prevent water from entering the sewer into the device.

    Step by step connection instructions:
  • the hose that leaves the machine is mounted on a wall or on a pedestal. It must be located at least 60 cm above the drain inlet to the sewer;
  • the fixed hose is tilted at the required angle to create a gravity flow of water from the device. The bend must be made so that water from the sink does not enter the dishwasher hose;
  • the drain circuit is connected to the siphon under the sink.

If there is already a siphon without taps under the sink, which you do not want to change, then you can use another method. To do this, the drain hose of the machine is connected to the outlet of the sewer pipe.

After that, the joint is tightly wrapped with electrical tape. In this case, bend the hose in such a way that water from the sewer does not get into it.

Before connecting the drain, check the length of the hose again. It should be enough. If it is short, then it can be increased. But you need not to overdo it - the extra length can adversely affect the operation of the pump.

Health check

After installing the outlet for connecting the dishwasher and connecting it to the water supply and sewerage, it is necessary to conduct a blank test of your new thing.

    You should check:
  1. the speed of pouring water into the car;
  2. heating the incoming water;
  3. dish drying operation.

Checking the operation of all modes of the machine should be carried out without dishes, but using detergent and restoring salt in accordance with the instructions for its operation. You should also once again carefully check all the joints of pipes and hoses for tightness.

After you have connected the dishwasher yourself, you managed to comply with all the recommendations of the installation manual, you can install it in its place when shifted during operation kitchen furniture, and attach the closing panel to the new machine.

    In order to make a reliable connection of the device, you must:
  • install a water filter. Due to this, garbage and rust from the water supply system, which adversely affect its operation, will not enter the machine;
  • Do not connect the device to hot water supply. Hot water tends to be of poorer quality than cold water. The mechanical impurities that it has in its composition will adversely affect the work;
  • do not connect the machine to the boiler. Savings will not come from this - the water heater will still turn on periodically to heat water. And residents will have to use cold tap water while the machine is running;
  • use a non-return valve when connecting the sewer. This will protect against sewage suction by the sewage machine;
  • when connecting the drain hose to the drainage system, the water drainage circuit is bent so that water from the sink does not enter the machine;
  • carefully check the tightness of the connected parts;
  • it is desirable to purchase cranes from bronze. This material is more durable than plastic;
  • avoid using extension cords to connect the device to power. The machine is a fairly powerful device, because such a connection can lead to a fire.

When installing, follow the instructions that come with the device. The reliability and tightness of all attached parts should be checked several times. If difficulties arise, it is better to contact specialists than to fix the breakdown later.

The dishwasher not only eliminates the eternal reason for family troubles: “duty”; “outfit for the kitchen”, simply put - who will wash the dishes today. With the current dynamics of growth in utility tariffs for water, a dishwasher in a family with two schoolchildren pays off in 2-2.5 years, and if there is a third, small one, in a year and a half. Soon the dishwasher will probably become compulsory subject household items, especially since installing a dishwasher with your own hands is a simple matter, and it saves a lot of money.

Let's consider in order how to install the dishwasher yourself so that it does not break until it pays off, and lasts long after that. Each specific model of the dishwasher, of course, comes with instructions, but it is designed for the master, for whom some technical subtleties are taken for granted. And the instructions do not say anything, or say in passing, about what you need to know or do before buying a car.

Place for dishwasher

In modern kitchen sets, designers provide a niche for a dishwasher with fixtures. The mount is standard, but there are very good models of dishwashers for non-standard mounts. The type of fastening, and for the machines of which manufacturers it is suitable, is indicated in the furniture passport. If not, you need to measure the mount, and before buying, do the same on the car. If they do not match, it does not matter to rearrange the mounting strips in the niche of the kitchen cabinet, a Phillips screwdriver is enough.

It is worse if the dishwasher is larger than the niche under it. There's nothing you can do about it: you'll have to look elsewhere. For a skilled craftsman, the option is to remake furniture, but this is difficult and not easy. Another great option is a dishwasher on the table. More on this at the end of the article.

Wiring

Connect the dishwasher to the power supply only through a European socket with reliable grounding. If you replace the euro plug with a “Soviet” one yourself, then, in addition to the instant loss of warranty (branded sockets are molded non-separable), you will also risk your life in the kitchen all the time, even if the dishwasher is turned off.

In apartment buildings instead of protective earth make protective grounding: the ground wire is connected to a deaf neutral. If the sockets in the apartment are not yet grounded, it is better to arrange this work with a DEZ electrician: for a specialist, this is not a difficult task, but it is categorically not recommended for amateurs. Without resuscitation, the matter will probably work out, but if the energy service detects a “self-made” zeroing, then they won’t put a hand in the penalty part.

In addition, it is impossible to simply turn on the dishwasher, for the sake of the same electrical safety. That is why their power cords are made short so that they cannot reach a regular outlet.

The dishwasher is connected to the mains through an additional outlet located 25-35 cm above the floor. And the additional outlet, in turn, is powered by a tap from the main one through a 16 A circuit breaker (circled in yellow in the figure). Installing an additional outlet should, of course, be a specialist electrician. Only when the power supply for the dishwasher is installed, you can take on the rest yourself.

Tools, consumables and fittings

Before embarking on the installation of a dishwasher, you need to stock up on tools, consumables and water fittings. Most likely, there will be no problems with the tool: all you need is pliers and a screwdriver. Also on the farm there will probably be some electrical tape; vinyl or cotton - it doesn't matter. Electrical tape is needed to wrap metal threaded parts before tightening with pliers so as not to scratch. If there is an adjustable wrench No. 1 (small) at home, then electrical tape is not needed.

From Supplies you will have to buy a waterproofing tape FUM (fumka). Also not a question - the price is cheap. But you can’t try to use electrical tape instead of a PVC fumka: it is too thick and shrinks over time. If it turns out to tighten the PVC thread, then anyway, a leak will soon go.

From water folding and water shut-off valves you will need the following:

  • Waste siphon with fitting or two (see picture on the right). If the house is already washing machine-automatic, then one fitting is needed. If not, the drain of the washer will be connected to the second one over time, but for now it can be plugged with a complete plug or rubber stopper.
  • Tee with 3/4 inch thread. ONLY brass, bronze or metal-plastic. Due to intergranular corrosion, silumin parts of water fittings tend to suddenly disintegrate without any warning signs. With everything that follows.
  • A coarse water filter, the same as the one in front of the water meter. Without it, the dishwasher is good if the warranty works out. And if not, then the case is non-warranty. Abroad, by the way, too: the quality of domestic water is one of the serious world problems.
  • Ball shut-off valve. Just like a tee - anything except silumin.
  • If the dishwasher is far from the sink, and the standard water connection tube - the henki - is not enough, then the metal-plastic henka is of the required length.

Dishwasher connection

Do-it-yourself dishwasher connection is carried out in the following sequence: drain, water, power supply. Recommendations - well, they say, anyway, are untenable already because the fittings and inputs on the machine itself are located based on just such a safe connection order. Those who want to do it their own way will have to work hard and probably redo it.

Stock

To connect the dishwasher to the drain, you just need to pull the drain hose onto the fitting. But two conditions must be met:

  • The drain hose may slip out of the sink and drain from the sink onto the floor.
  • The sewage pump of the machine, in order to pump the drain high, will have to work with an overload, and it will quickly fail.

Water

For any type of washing machines, it is strongly not recommended to connect hot water to the water supply. Firstly, the savings on heating water here are apparent: hot water costs more than electricity. If you already have an electric boiler, then you yourself know this.

Secondly, the quality of hot water is inevitably worse than cold water: its path from the water intake to you

longer and more complex - through the boiler room, where it comes into contact with the metal of the water heating system, and through additional pipes. All over the world, in contracts with subscribers, water supply organizations write that it is impossible to use hot water for cooking.

On the dishwasher, this affects very specifically and unpleasantly: the non-return valve fails. At correct installation there will be no leakage to the floor, but an unpleasant smell from washed dishes may appear.

Note: when the dishwasher is powered with hot water from a household boiler, in which the magnesium protector is regularly changed, the problem of water quality disappears; it may even be higher than the incoming cold. But the consumption of electricity will be greater: with each start-up of the sink, 5-10 liters of water will be wasted to warm up the supply pipe.

Actually, connecting the dishwasher to the water supply is done like this:

  • We turn off the water in the apartment.
  • We disconnect the cold hank of the kitchen faucet from the pipe; We remove the old waterproofing and throw it away.
  • We attach a tee to the pipe, connect the mixer to it again and, in series, the filter (circled in blue in the figure), the ball valve and the dishwasher handle. Do not forget to isolate all threaded joints with a fumka.
  • Check if the ball valve is closed.

Note: the fumka needs to be wound in 10-15 layers along the thread. If, when screwing, the connection is tight, and the fumka gets into lumps and sticks out, you need to rewind in the opposite direction.

Electricity

Since the additional outlet is already installed, just plug in the dishwasher's plug.

Leak test

We turn on the water in the apartment. Then, without turning on the dishwasher, open its stopcock. Check to see if it's leaking anywhere. We turn on the dishwasher, start the test mode, or simply lay a portion of the dishes and wash. So nothing has flowed anywhere - we leave the stopcock open, the automatic machine of the machine is turned on, and we use it.

Note: if all adults leave the house, then the latter needs to remember to turn off the shut-off valve of the dishwasher and turn off its machine.

"Chips" of famous brands

Almost all manufacturers of dishwashers do not make henks themselves, but buy from subcontractors. A complete henk with a “non-Russian”, too short thread, may come across on sale. In this case, to connect the water, the complete gasket must be thrown away, and the joint must be insulated with a pipe. All of the above recommendations are given just in such a case. Besides:

  • Bosch- even if the standard gasket fits, it must be installed exactly according to the instructions. An inverted gasket leaks, not during the test, but after a day or two. If the Bosch leaks quickly, first of all try to close the shut-off valve and turn the gasket over. In addition, Bosch's non-return valve is a terrible picky about water quality. A filter for Bosch is a must, even if you live in an ecologically clean area and use artesian water. But Bosch becomes without problems in almost any kitchen set.
  • Siemens- "does not like" standard mounts and niches of standard sizes. You can count from the heels of models that clearly ignore the specifications of furniture makers. But unpretentious.
  • Electrolux- in order for these dishwashers to work long and well, their inclination in any direction should not exceed 2 degrees. Therefore, when choosing an Electrolux, do not forget to purchase or borrow a good short level for mounting.

Today, the popularity of dishwashers (hereinafter also referred to as dishwashers, PMM) is growing: more and more people are installing them in their kitchens. But not all owners know how to connect the dishwasher to communications.

Of course, you can call a master who, for a fee, will connect the new equipment to the mains, water supply and sewerage. But owners who have a minimum set of tools and certain skills can connect the dishwasher to the water supply and sewerage on their own. The connection is carried out in several stages, including preparatory. Let's consider them in more detail.

Choice of accommodation

You need to choose the location of the equipment before purchasing the PMM. If you decide to build a dishwasher into kitchen furniture, you need to know the dimensions of the corresponding niche. It can be located under the countertop, cooking panel or under the sink..

The location for the dishwasher must be near the sink already connected to the water supply and sewerage. If the distance to communications exceeds 1.5 meters, the device may experience problems.

Make sure that not far from the PMM is located electric outlet . Since the dishwasher consumes quite a lot of electricity, it is dangerous to use an extension cord to operate the dishwasher, especially if several devices are connected to it.

For a compact dishwasher that can be placed directly on the countertop, the issue of supplying communications is easier to solve, since it can be easily placed as close as possible to the sink. This option is optimal when there is no niche with the required dimensions in the furniture. You can not make a connection to the sewer at all; it is enough to place the drain hose in the sink.

Electricity supply

The main power in the dishwasher is consumed by a tubular electric heater (hereinafter also referred to as a heating element), which heats the water to the desired temperature. During its operation, the PMM consumes from 2 to 3 kW of electricity. You can find out about this from the technical documentation or see this parameter on a sticker located on the machine body (see photo below).

In accordance with these indicators, the socket must withstand a current of at least 16 A. At the same time, it must be located in a place that has free access. There are two placement options: slightly above the furniture worktop (in the case of a built-in PMM) or in an adjacent niche, while the distance to the sink should be at least 0.5 m (due to possible water ingress). One more rule must be observed: the socket should be located no further than 1 m from the dishwasher.

Perfect option the location of communications is shown in the figure below, where:

  1. PMM Corps.
  2. Area of connection to the electrical network.
  3. PMM connection site with water supply.
  4. Sewer drain area.

A dedicated line must go to the outlet from the switchboard. If it is not laid, and the apartment has already been renovated, run the wire along the wall and close it decorative box. Wherein appearance the interior is not affected. The same line can be used to connect a washing machine, provided that it does not turn on at the same time as the PMM.

For installation, you need to use a cable with stranded copper conductors (for example, brand VVG-nG-Ls) with a cross section of 2.5 mm 2. Device must be present protective shutdown(hereinafter also - RCD), along with automata that operate at a current of 16 A. By the way, RCDs and circuit breakers can be replaced with one differential automaton.

The need to install these devices is due to the fact that there is a danger of a short circuit of the electrical network with water and electric shock to people.

Options protective device: 25 A, tripping current - 10 mA. You can use an RCD for 16 A and 30 mA of leakage current. The connection is carried out in the same way for PMMs of various trademarks: Bosch, Siemens, Electrolux, Indesit, Whirpool and others.

Instructions for connecting to the water supply

As a rule, flexible hoses from pipes with hot and cold water go to the mixer tap located in the sink. That is why the most convenient way PMM connection is located in the place where such a hose is connected to the water main. Otherwise, you will have to tie into the pipe using a tee or a manifold with two outlets and taps. When connecting at the junction of a flexible hose with a water supply, a tee with a stopcock must be installed under the sink.

A shut-off valve in the tee is necessary so that you can quickly stop the water supply in the event of an emergency. Since most PMM models only need cold water, one tee will be required.

For work, the following tools and materials should be prepared:

  • a tee with a built-in faucet, made of brass or bronze, with a thread diameter of 3/4 inch (this diameter is suitable in most cases);
  • coarse inlet filter (if this is not included in the dishwasher kit);
  • fluoroplastic sealing tape (FUM-tape);
  • wrenches;
  • sharp knife.

If the kitchen already has a washing machine or is planning to install one, the tee should be replaced with a two-way manifold with the same diameter (3/4 inch) and two stopcocks (see photo above). In addition, some PMM models are equipped with inlet hoses that are too short, a little more than a meter long. If this length is not enough, you will have to buy a new hose in a specialized store.

To properly connect the dishwasher with your own hands to the water supply, the work should be done step by step, in several stages:

  1. Shut off the water supply to the apartment.
  2. Disconnect the flexible hose supplying cold water to the faucet from the water pipe.
  3. Connect water pipe with an inlet of a tee or a splitter, having previously wound the FUM tape on the thread.
  4. Connect the outlet of the tee or manifold to a flexible hose going to the mixer. Don't forget to use fum tape.
  5. Connect the filter and dishwasher inlet hose to one of the side outlets.
  6. If there is a washing machine, connect its inlet hose to the second outlet of the splitter.
  7. Check the tightness of all connections by supplying water to the line.

This completes the connection of the dishwasher to the water.

Sometimes the situation does not allow the installation of PMM near the sink. In this case, you have to crash into a water pipe. If it is made of metal-plastic, there will be no difficulties. It is necessary to cut a piece of pipe and in its place install a tee or manifold with press fittings that provide a reliable connection.

You don’t need to cut a metal pipe - just put a clamp with a branch on top and drill a hole in the pipe through the branch. This connection is also reliable.

Drain to sewer connection

If the dishwasher is installed next to the sink, you should pay attention to the siphon that drains the liquid from the sink into the sewer. If there are no free outlets in it, you must purchase a siphon with one or two additional outlets from the plumbing store (if you also need to connect a washing machine).

The outlets are equipped with conical fittings shaped like an inverted V (see photo). This form is not accidental. The upward bend prevents the spread of odors from the sewer, and also eliminates the reverse flow of liquid from the sewer to the PMM.

There is also the option of direct connection to the pipe through a tee with an oblique outlet (see photo). To organize the upper bend of the drainage hose, a special device is used that can be attached to the wall. To unpleasant odors did not penetrate into the room, a sealing sleeve made of rubber should be installed at the junction of the tee and the drain hose.

Finally, you should check tightness of all connections, connect the dishwasher to the mains and switch it on for the first time. It should be done without dishes. To flush the hopper, use special cleaning tablets or PMM cleaner and disinfectant. Only after the first switching on, the dishwasher can be installed in a furniture niche.

As you can see, you can connect to communications yourself. We hope that our article will help you do this job.

Any master knows how to connect a dishwasher. This can be done on your own, without the help of specialists. The installation instructions and our article will help you.

What you need to connect the dishwasher with your own hands

For installation you will need a standard set:

  • Pliers, pliers, screwdriver, adjustable, wrench.
  • Insulating tape, sealant, waterproofing tape ("fumka").
  • Siphon for connecting the drain to the sewer (want to connect the washing machine and dishwasher at the same time - with 2 fittings).
  • Ball valve for shutting off water.
  • Tee fitting made of brass, copper, bronze with ¾ inch thread for connection to the water supply.
  • Coarse water filter.
  • Level (to check the inclination of the PMM - the norm is 2 degrees).
  • Tubes for extending the drain hose (if you need to increase the length).
  • Ground socket, circuit breaker 16 amps.

Having prepared everything you need, after reading the instructions, we act according to the plan:

  1. Deciding on a dishwasher.
  2. We connect the PMM to the water supply and sewerage.
  3. We connect to the mains.
  4. We start the test cycle.
  5. We put things in order.
  6. Never wash dishes by hand again.

Where to put the dishwasher?

Most models have chosen a place for themselves in the kitchen, near the sink. This is logical: communications are nearby, you do not need to carry dirty dishes far, it is very convenient, hygienic. A compact model, such as the desktop "Indesit", can be placed on the countertop near the sink.

The desktop machine is connected to faucet, drains water directly into the sink.

A free-standing modification, such as Hansa ("Hansa"), does not cause trouble during installation.

It can be put near the sink, hidden under the countertop, in the cabinet, to save space.

A built-in machine (Siemens brand in the photo) can be placed in a kitchen set, disguised with a harmonious facade.

To place, fix the built-in model in the closet, you will have to make holes in the walls of the furniture for fastenings and communications. Special stencils will help. They come with a dishwasher.

Having decided on the workplace, we proceed to the most interesting.

Setting up the drainage system (drain)

In the kitchen, under the sink there is a siphon. To connect the drain hose, pull out the plug and screw it to the vacated hole. If you install a dishwasher and a washing machine together, you will need a special siphon with two fittings: each unit has one drain. The standard length of the drain hose is 1.5 meters. It is easy for him to add lengths, if necessary. Secure the joint with clamps. Wrap with a fumka, treat with sealant so that the hoses are not blown away by pressure.

Water connection

Turn off the water supply first. To establish a water supply, you need a tee. It should be screwed where the "cold" pipe connects to the kitchen faucet. Thus, there remains a free pipe for the dishwasher. Tees, adapters are different types, sizes. Made from different materials: plastic, brass, copper, bronze.

Choose a durable stainless composition, be guided by the threads of the inlet hose. A ball valve can be screwed between the tee and the filler pipe - for an emergency stop of water.

If you are connecting a washing machine at the same time, instead of a tee, get a quadruple plus an additional stopcock for the washing machine.

Do not connect household appliances to hot water. This is not as economical as it might seem at first glance. Boilers, columns spend more resources on heating water than PMM, and the machine can break down from the wrong temperature.

Electrical connection

A low-power machine is suitable for connecting to the nearest outlet. Ideal for any dishwasher - a separate socket with grounding, a separate cable, an individual 16 amp disconnect device (RCD).

For safety reasons, it is desirable that the socket be protected from moisture. If you use an extension cord, do not leave it on the floor, a leak may cause a short circuit.

Trial run

Having connected the unit to all communications, do not rush to operate it. Run test mode without dishes. For example, the shortest cycle. During operation, check all connections for leaks. You may need additional tape or sealant treatment. If everything is in order, congratulations! You have done all the work yourself.

Connecting the stove, dishwasher and oven

The 2 in 1, 3 in 1 hybrid technique is deservedly popular - because it saves such valuable space. Features of connecting such equipment depend on its type. The dishwasher is connected as described above. Electrical hob and oven will require additional outlets. If the oven, stove are gas - contact the gas service. It is very dangerous to carry out such work on your own.
