How to determine the size of roller blinds for windows? How to measure roller blinds correctly: expert advice How to measure blinds for horizontal plastic windows

Blinds will well prevent the penetration of sunlight into the house, if their dimensions strictly correspond to the size of the window. Measurements must be made carefully in compliance with a number of rules.

Nuances of measurements

The most accurate measurement result can only be obtained with a steel tape measure.
Rounding of numbers to whole centimeters is not allowed. Every millimeter matters.
Before you buy blinds and when placing an order, the invoice first writes the dimensions of the horizontal side, then the vertical.

Horizontal and vertical measurements are carried out in several places to take into account possible window distortions. If this is not done, subsequently the blinds may jam when moving.

Each of the types of blinds, roller, vertical and horizontal, has its own characteristics that must be taken into account when measuring.

Horizontal blinds

They are attached in one of two ways: on the opening, in the opening and on the sash. In the first case, the blinds are attached to the ceiling or wall and block the window by a few centimeters. It is not scary if their width and length exceed the dimensions of the opening. By the way: by installing blinds in this way, you can achieve a visual increase in the window. After a horizontal measurement, add 1-2 cm or more, after a vertical measurement, from 5 cm or more. They take measurements in 3-4 places and take the maximum indicator.
Installation in the opening provides for the placement of the bracket in the upper part of the frame. Measure the height and width of the opening. subtract 2 cm from the height, 1.5 cm from the width.

When attaching the blinds directly to the sash, the window can be opened and closed, and the usable area of the window sill can be used to accommodate indoor plants or decor items. The sash is measured from the inner borders of opposite glazing beads. This is the name of the inner edge of the frame, which is in direct contact with the glass. Measurements are also made several horizontally and several vertically, and the maximum indicators are taken as a basis. 1 cm is added to the width, 3 cm to the length.

Important! The control mechanism is located on the opposite side from the one where the handle is located.

Vertical blinds

Vertical blinds are mounted on the opening or in the opening. The first option allows you to make them decorative element interior, cover the heating radiator, mask the distortions of the window. Sometimes the width of the window sill exceeds the width of the window. If the protrusions are more than 6 cm on both sides, the blinds should be equal to the width of the window sill plus 10 cm. The distance to the bracket on which they will be mounted is added to the vertical measurements of the window. The bracket can be installed on the ceiling or wall.

The option of placing vertical blinds in the opening is chosen by the owners of small rooms, where the space under the window is occupied by furniture. However, in this case it is important that the window does not have distortions, or they are minimal. 2 cm are subtracted from vertical measurements, and 1 cm from horizontal ones.

Roller blinds

Many are sure that roller blinds or Roman blinds can only be mounted on a frame. In fact, the option of attaching them to the wall is also possible - overlapping.

When installing with an overlap, vertical and horizontal measurements of the window opening are performed. 20 cm are added to the vertical ones, 10 cm to the horizontal ones.

Installing Roman blinds in the opening does not require any pros and cons when measuring. The height and width of the window are the dimensions of the curtain. However, you should make sure that the window is absolutely level. Otherwise, it makes sense to consider the option of placing curtains with an overlap.
The conclusion is as follows: measurements for installing blinds are easy to perform, given the installation method. But in the absence of experience, it is better to entrust this work to specialists.

The living room in the house is one of the important rooms. It receives guests, and also spend time relaxing, watching TV and much more. There are options when the living room is connected to a workspace or kitchen.

Roller blinds are a type of fabric window shading that replaces conventional curtains or blinds. They are chosen by adherents of minimalism in the interior, they complement the most different types curtains, knowing how to measure roller blinds right for the desired effect. Roller blinds require a minimum amount of fabric and take up little space, in addition, they require a minimum of maintenance.

From right choice curtains depends on the overall look of the window. How to choose the right size for this type of curtains? What should be considered for the right choice? It would seem that these are small nuances, but they affect the appearance of the window as a whole, the functionality of all devices.

In order to select the required size of roller blinds, you will need to measure the dimensions of the window. When measuring, the width of the roller blind is necessarily calculated. The length, in most cases, is made standard - about 2 meters. This size should be enough for most standard modern designs.

For accurate measurements, the following recommendations should be considered:

Using a tape measure, we measure the glass in width and length (along the sash). The data obtained will help determine the design that is suitable for the window. It is also necessary to measure the depth of the bead. With a depth of 1.5 centimeters suitable curtain Uni. With a size of less than 1.5 centimeters (and inclusive), you should opt for the designs of the "Profil" or "Mini" system.

The overall width is the width of the curtain. Therefore, the size of the tube on which the rolled fabric is attached will be the necessary parameter in measuring the width of the curtains.

Measurements of various types of curtains

In order to correctly measure the roller blinds on plastic windows it is necessary to study the features of each type of structure.

Classic

The first step is to determine the type installation work, or rather, where the classic roller blinds will be located: on the outside of the opening or inside the opening. You should get the following values for the measurement:

  1. Width (hereinafter - "b") from 0.5 to 3 m;
  2. Height (hereinafter - "h") from 0.5 to 3 m;
  3. The length (hereinafter "l") of the control is from 0.27 m and above (the maximum value is not set). The length of the control should not exceed 2/3 of the total length of the curtain when assembled.

outdoor installation

For outdoor installation, the following steps will be required:

  1. Measurement b.
  2. Depending on the edge of the window sill, h changes. For the internal location of the window sill, the numbers may be at the discretion.
  3. b curtains minus 4 centimeters = b linens.
  4. If the installation takes place directly to the wall, then the border from the ceiling to the mount should be from 7 centimeters.

Indoor installation

For the internal type of fastening (in the opening), the following measurements are taken into account:

  1. To calculate b of the web, it is necessary to calculate the difference between twice the distance from the bracket and the bevel on the side to b of the opening. The value should not exceed 5 centimeters.

Cassette blind

Among the cassette types of roller blinds, Uni-1, Uni-2, Mini are distinguished.

Uni-1

  1. To calculate b, measure the vertical distance between the ribs of the glazing beads. The measurement accuracy is up to hundredths of a centimeter.
  2. H is the distance between the ribs in a horizontal position. The side for regulating the degree of opening of the product is chosen arbitrarily. The level h is an individual value, which is 2/3 of the total length of the curtain.
  3. Uni-1 after installation should be installed between the edges of the glazing beads.

Uni-2

When making overall measurements, the wishes of the customer and the features of the window frame are taken into account. The location of the fittings (handles or hinges) is also of no small importance.

  1. For the value of b, the distance between the ribs of the cap is taken into account. 6.8 centimeters are added to it.
  2. The distance between the outer parts of the structure should be less than a couple of centimeters (from 0.25 to 1.2 m).
  3. H for this design is the distance between the lower and upper points of the system plug (from 0.2 m to 1.5 m).

Mini

In the Mini design, mini curtains are installed on each window sash separately. To do this, you need to know the value b of the light opening. It increases by 0.4 centimeters to account for the glazing bead and fasteners. All other calculations are similar. The side for the location of the control device is chosen arbitrarily. The chain for winding the fabric on the pipe is considered as 2/3 of h.

The latch for the lower eaves is placed when the window sash has a tilt-and-turn mechanism. Thanks to this, when airing, the flaps will not hang over the window sill.

The retainer for the lower eaves has two types of fastening:

  1. magnetic, in which magnets are mounted on screws;
  2. brackets on the line.

Methods for attaching the upper eaves:

  1. screws;
  2. on double-sided tape;
  3. on hanging brackets - for the sash.

Measurements for roller blinds Mini. The first step is to measure the width and height of the glass (to the sash). 3 centimeters are added to the numbers for the width and 12 for the height. Next, the location of the control mechanism is determined. It is better if it is near the loop. Next, the method of fastening is selected (screws or double-sided tape).

Mini curtains are installed only on the sashes.

UNI

There are two types of curtains of this type - UNI-1 and UNI-2.

UNI-1

The type is suitable for different windows, with different design features. Very popular in modern design. The color scheme of the box is easily matched to the color of the frame, creating visual integrity. The standard size is 200×175.

To select this type, the following measurements are required:

  1. To the height between the ribs of the glazing bead, 2 centimeters are added for a margin.
  2. Width is measured in the same way without any additions.

Curtains of this type have one drawback - the lower bar rubs against the glass, which leads to the appearance of bevels and even cracks. This minus is especially manifested with a glazing bead depth of 2 cm.

UNI-2

This type is the most acceptable and versatile. Mounted on almost any surface with different relief. If the bead depth is more than 2 cm, then this option will be the most acceptable. Uni-2 curtains have guides in the form of the letter "P", which ensures a clear fixation and no friction. The likelihood of cracks and bevels is extremely small.

Measuring the roller blind for size selection:

The width must be measured by the outer dimensions of the curtain rails. To calculate the desired height, the value of the external dimensions is added to the height of the box (about 7 cm). The most recommended value by experts is from 1 to 2 centimeters, since if an error is made, the excess can be cut off by removing the plugs from the pipe.

Profile

Before purchasing the system, the profile should be measured:

  1. b between the corners of the sash.
  2. h, taking into account the size of the glass, the sash to be opened.

In addition to plastic windows, the "Profil" system is installed on the door.

Day Night

Roller blinds can be installed different ways. Distinguish external and internal fastening, fastening on a frame.

Required measurements for each method:

  1. For outdoor installation, b is measured and 15 centimeters are added to it. In the h dimension, plus 15 centimeters is added to the size of the opening.
  2. For internal fastening, it is necessary to measure at three points h and b. Suitable for height smallest values. If the slopes are angular, then the mark is the place where the canvas is attached. For b, 5 millimeters are subtracted from the measured value, and h remains unchanged.
  3. Mounting on the frame is carried out by measuring b on the bead and h of the frame. The minimum distance from the fabric and the handle should not exceed a centimeter. Marks are made directly on the product.

Summing up

Every missing or extra centimeter can spoil appearance products and rooms in general. Therefore, before measuring roller blinds for plastic windows, do not rush into your actions.

To correctly and accurately measure the size of blinds on plastic windows, you need to know a few important points. If they are met, then a positive outcome is guaranteed.

  • Steel tape measure is a necessary and even indispensable tool. Without this element, there is even nothing to undertake the work. Measurements must be accurate to the millimeter. Rounding off is unacceptable, as are errors.
  • It is not enough to measure windows for blinds. You also need to write down the results correctly. The first value in the entry must indicate the width and only after that the length is written. Writing values incorrectly is a mistake many people make.
  • Even plastic windows do not have the dimensions of an ideal rectangle. Measurements of one parameter must be carried out in different places. This is especially true for slopes, which, due to their uneven lines, can become an obstacle to the movement of blinds.
  • There are several types of blinds. The rules for performing measurements differ from the selected type of blinds. Also, the differences are determined by the method of installation, of which there are also several.

For each case, we will tell you how to measure a window for blinds. So be patient, we have a lot of work to do.

Choose an installation option

In order to learn how to measure blinds on plastic windows, we will still have time. First you need to decide on the installation option. There are three ways that are selected with approximately the same frequency: on the opening, on the sash, on top of the opening. It is necessary not only to know how to measure a window for installing blinds, but also by what rules to choose an installation option. What we will talk about next.

  • For fastening vertical systems, a wall is more often chosen, i.e. over the opening. Inside the opening, such structures are rarely installed.
  • For roller blinds or Roman blinds, any options are selected. There are no restrictions here, so you can give free rein to your imagination. But you need to clearly know how to measure the blinds on the windows so that the end result does not become a disappointment.
  • Windows with multiple sashes, which are usually installed in the homes of Russian citizens, are often decorated with several blinds, one for each sash. This method makes the operation of the window convenient, because the shutters can be opened without using the blinds.
  • On European wide windows with overhead rails in each sash, blinds installed in the opening or on top of it look beautiful.

We have given you general points that will help you make the right choice. To follow them or not, to rely on your own taste is everyone's business. And we finally got to the main question - how to measure the blinds for plastic windows.

Such designs were the pioneers and progenitors of all modern blinds. But even such a long history did not interfere with their popularity, which even now is kept at a high level. Users love them for their ease of use.

You can measure horizontal blinds on plastic windows different ways It all depends on how they are installed. We have reviewed each of the existing ones.

This installation method visually expands the window space, which is successfully used by many designers. Moreover, the dimensions of the blinds are not affected by the dimensions of the window, which is very convenient and unties the hands. To calculate the size of the blinds for the window in this case, you will need to do the following:

  • We determine the dimensions of the opening (width, height), again, we measure each indicator in different places.
  • From the results obtained, we select the largest and take them as real.
  • We subtract about 1.5 cm from the width, and 1 cm from the height.

Installation "on the sash": how to measure

Such installation allows you to leave the window sill free and does not create difficulties when opening / closing the window further. To remove the size of windows for blinds in this case, you will have to act according to a different scheme:

  • along the borders of the glazing bead in several places we measure the width of the sash;
  • choose the highest result;
  • for height measurements, we perform similar actions;
  • add 1 cm to the width, and 3 cm to the length.

That's the whole process that needs to be done to measure the blinds on plastic windows. Attention should be paid to the blinds control mechanism. The structure must be positioned so that it is on the opposite side of the handle from the window. You know how to measure the size of a window for horizontal blinds, but you still have to deal with vertical and roll structures.

Such designs give the interior sophistication, indicate a delicate taste and are able to transform the room. When choosing such a design, you need to clearly know how to measure vertical blinds on plastic windows. The width of such blinds should be divided by 8 when turning in one direction, otherwise a multiplicity of 16 is needed. Subject to this condition, you can achieve an impeccable look and even closing of the window. Vertical blinds can also be installed in a variety of ways. Below, all available options will be considered, which will help to measure the window for blinds.

Installation "on the opening": how to measure

This method is acceptable if you need to hide pipes / batteries and want to make the blinds an interior element. Also, slopes and a window sill will be hidden behind the structure. By the way, if the window sill protrudes beyond the opening by 6 cm or more, then you will have to install a long bracket.

How to properly measure blinds on plastic windows of a vertical type with installation on an opening is described below:

  • You need to know the dimensions of the window (width / height).
  • We add 20 cm to the width, this distance will be needed for side allowances.
  • If the blinds will be mounted on the ceiling, then the distance from the window to the ceiling will have to be added to the resulting height.
  • When mounting on the wall, you will have to add at least 10 cm to the height and even the length of the structure.

This option is suitable for small rooms in which free space worth its weight in gold, as they say. Often in such rooms, furniture is placed under the window, which further reduces the space for the blinds. This method is applicable only to a flat window, in the dimensions of which there are no significant differences.

How to measure a window for installing blinds is presented in the following practical guide:

  • To get the width, subtract 1 cm from the width of the opening.
  • You need to subtract about 2 cm from the height, no less.

That's all, there are no special tricks here, so everyone can correctly measure a window for blinds.

Such blinds are called Roman blinds. They are very popular, although they are more expensive than their previous counterparts. When folded, they take up very little space, and when unfolded, they perfectly protect the room from the sun and create an amazing atmosphere. In addition, care for roller blinds is extremely simple. How to measure roller blinds at the window various options The settings are detailed below.

Overlap installation: how to take measurements

This work is carried out according to the following scheme:

  • Determine the width and height of the window.
  • To the results obtained at the previous stage, we add 10 cm (to the width) and 20 cm (to the height).

We have already described how to determine the size of blinds for plastic windows during overlap installation, as you can see, there is nothing complicated in this process.

Installation "in the opening": how to measure

This process is no more difficult than the previous one. The following describes how to measure a window for roller blinds, so you can see for yourself the simplicity of this work:

  • The width of the opening will determine the width of the cornice.
  • It is the same with the height of the cornice - it is equal to the height of the opening.

On an uneven window, such installation is not applicable. You will have to choose another method, for example, overlapping or day-night.

Installation "day-night": how to take measurements

This option is loved by many, appreciated for its convenience in further operation, in particular, in regulating lighting. Interested? Then it's time to learn how to measure roller blinds on plastic windows during day-night installation:

  • The width of the blinds is determined by the glazing bead, its outer side.
  • Height is measured over the frame.
  • Based on these indicators, you can order / buy blinds.

For each of these options, half a centimeter can be added to the resulting height. This distance will take over the eaves.

You learned how to find out the size of the blinds for plastic windows, now it only remains to put all the knowledge into practice.

How to measure blinds on plastic windows with your own hands: video

Blinds have become very popular in interior design. Turning to the manufacturers of blinds according to individual sizes, you get professional free measuring services. But if you decide to buy finished goods, it is necessary to decide on the model of the curtain and the type of fastening, on the basis of this, independently measure the openings under the blinds.

Measurement methods for different types of blinds

Modern blinds are a huge range of light-diffusing products for decorating windows, partitions and doorways both in residential premises and in offices, business centers, children's and medical institutions, etc. If you do not take into account the variety of materials and color palette, then in fact the market offers 3 types of product:

  • horizontal;
  • roll;
  • vertical.

Each type of blind has its own measurement technology. It is also important to consider where the products will be attached:

  • on the wall and close the entire opening;
  • on the sash;
  • on the fixed part of the frame;
  • to the top of the window.

The following is a detailed step-by-step instruction how to make measurements of openings correctly, which will help to avoid typical mistakes when choosing the size of blinds. You will need a tape measure, a chair or stepladder, a piece of paper and a pencil for drawings and notes.

Since the builders are far from the correct geometry, the height of the opening should be measured at three points: top, middle and bottom, height - from each edge and in the middle.

Which parameters to choose for curtain sizes depends on where they will be hung. We will discuss each case in more detail below.

For wall mounting

Installing blinds on the wall above the window is suitable for any design. It is understood that the blinds will cover the entire opening, capturing the space of the wall from the sides, top and bottom. Here it is important to take into account the width of the window sill, if it is flush with the wall or protrudes slightly, the length of the curtain can be any. But if the protrusion is significant, and radiators still pass below, then it is optimal to hang blinds up to the window sill or pick up a cornice with elongated brackets, such a solution is advisable for floor-length vertical products.

  • we measure the length and width of the opening at three points;
  • select the largest indicators, denote from L-length and D-width;
  • calculate the width of the blinds to D + 1 cm + 10 cm (this is the minimum, optimally up to 400 mm on each side)
  • length calculation to L + 10 cm (minimum under the eaves) - this is the length of the blinds to the window sill, if you want to make the curtain longer or under the ceiling - add your parameters.

If vertical blinds are planned to the floor with a ceiling mount, then you need to know the full height of the wall from the junction with the ceiling to the junction with the floor (L). It must be remembered that there should be a gap of 1-2 cm from below so that the lamellas do not rest on the floor and do not bend.

When wall mount, you will need to know the height from the top slope of the window to the floor (L). Canvas length = L + min 10 cm under the eaves - 1-2 cm.

On top of the window

The mounting option on the upper slope is convenient in that the window sill remains open, in addition, you can hang the window with one sheet, the main thing is not to forget that there are protruding fittings on the frame, so you should move the cornice away from the inner edge of the slope / frame pairing by the thickness of the handles.

  • find out the length from the upper slope to the window sill (L) and the width - from the left vertical slope to the right (D);
  • be sure to choose D the smallest indicator, L - the largest - this will be the height of the blinds;
  • to calculate the width of the canvas from D (min) subtract 1 cm (0.5 on each side) - the gap will allow the blinds to quietly lower and rise in the opening without touching the slopes.

On a fixed window frame

It is advisable to hang blinds on the fixed part of the plastic window when there is only one sash. But when there are 2 or more of them, it is possible to hang curtains in this way, it is important to take into account the protruding handles, and adjust the width of the curtain from them. The canvases will be separate for each sash.

In order not to break the canvas, you can install new, more compact handles on the plastic window or pick up blinds on adjustable brackets.

  • we measure the width of the window from the edge of the handle (closest to the glazing) to the vertical slope (D);
  • we consider the width of the blinds per 1 sash - subtract half a centimeter from D (side gap) and minus 0.3-0.5 cm - for the gap between the canvas and fittings;
  • the length of the curtain, taking into account the cornice, will be equal to the maximum measurement L - 1 cm (but the allowance may not be made).

For movable sash

Only horizontal and roller blinds are installed on the movable sash; vertical blinds are rarely attached in this way, except in exclusive interior by special design. It is not recommended to hang large and heavy blinds on a plastic and wooden sash in order to avoid profile deformation.

  • determine the width of the movable sash from the outer edge to the handle (L);
  • subtract from L - 0.5-1 cm (so that when the sash is opened to the side, the blinds do not break) and additionally subtract 0.5 cm so that the curtain does not cling to the handle;
  • subtract 1-2 cm from the length of the sash D, but even if you forgot to reduce the size, you can always shorten the blinds with your own hands.

This mounting option is suitable for roller blinds, pleated blinds, small horizontal blinds with a thin lamella.

For glazing

Only roller blinds and light products, such as pleated blinds, day-night curtains, are hung on the glazing. These models are attached to the glass with Velcro (double-sided tape). Before measuring the blinds on plastic windows, pay attention to the design, especially pay attention to the sealing rubber bands, their width is important to consider when calculating, this is important for models with side rails that press the edges of the canvas to the glazing.

If the openings are large, it is better to attach the roller blind cornice to the upper profile of the movable sash, and not to the glazing.

To determine the size of such blinds, you need to measure the glass from the top to the bottom and between the side elastic bands and subtract half a centimeter.

Technical blinds

To determine the size of technical louvers for ventilation, it is important to choose the size so that the grill completely covers the hole, and the rim around it is adjacent to the wall surface.

So, the standard size of the louvered grille for air ducts in industrial and administrative buildings 150x490, and for domestic mines in the kitchen or in the bathroom optimal size 100-150*150-200, depending on the design of the house.

After the installation of plastic windows, it is necessary to provide for the installation of blinds that are suitable for the design, which allow you to create optimal natural lighting in the premises in any weather outside the window.

But for correct installation and design selection, you need to know how to measure the blinds on plastic windows yourself.

This knowledge will help save money on paying for the work of the construction team or purchase a more expensive model of blinds.

Choosing the right type of blinds

It is possible to measure for the location of the blinds and determine their dimensions only after the appropriate type has been chosen, on which many nuances and measurement methods depend. Some people are mainly focused on decorative properties and ease of use, which, in general, is correct, but it is worth noting the fact that the complexity of their installation can vary significantly.

Roman blinds are great for residential areas of the apartment.

Therefore, it is worth choosing such designs that maximally satisfy all the requirements of the design of the room, but at the same time it is possible to install them yourself. Manufacturers offer the following types of structures for indoor installation:

  • classic version with horizontal or vertical slats;
  • roll;
  • Roman curtains;
  • pleated.

The first and second options are optimal and inexpensive, therefore, if there is no experience in measuring and installing, then they are ideal. To carry out measurements under them is quite simple, they are undemanding in operation and quite maintainable. If you want to create unique design, then the other options will do.

Determine the mounting method

Before you measure the window, you need to decide on the method of fastening the structure to be installed.

If you follow the instructions, you can mount the curtains in minutes

To do this, you can use the following recommendations:

  • Vertical fastening can be done inside the opening or directly to the wall, depending on how the plastic window was installed.
  • Vertical structures must be fastened in such a way that there is a minimum distance of more than 50 mm from the floor.
  • If the blinds are planned to overlap with the window opening, then you must be prepared for the fact that part of the window sill will be occupied by its design.
  • When attaching a vertical structure, the width is selected so that the canvas protrudes beyond the window by at least 15 cm.

mount in window opening should be carried out so that the window sill is not touched by the canvas, that is, it is required to make an indent in height of 20 mm. It is necessary to determine in advance the direction of opening the blinds and select the mechanism.

The process of measuring the size of blinds for plastic windows

Steel tape measure allows you to take measurements with high accuracy

Correctly measuring blinds means choosing the right tool, correctly choosing the required design and determining the place for installation, and then performing the necessary measurement steps.

It is important to measure all the necessary linear dimensions only using a steel tape measure, since only it can provide the required accuracy.

The use of other measuring instruments can subsequently create significant problems, since even 1 mm up or down is enough for this error to be visible throughout the life of the window.

Measurement of dimensions of horizontal or vertical blinds

Before measuring blinds on plastic windows, you should choose one of the ways to install blinds:

  • In the opening The method is effective for mounting on blind windows with non-opening sashes.
  • Over the opening. The implementation of the method is similar to the first case.
  • On the window sill. The method is suitable for one-piece double-glazed windows or windows with one glass installed.
  • Inside the window.

Measurements for installing blinds in the opening

When measuring, take at least 2-3 width measurements to be sure of accuracy.

You can measure blinds for installation in a window opening in the following sequence:

  • With a tape measure, we measure the dimensions of the window opening at several points (at least three) for each linear size in order to eliminate the situation with an uneven opening.
  • If distortions are found in width or height, then the smallest of the three values is selected.
  • We subtract 10 mm from the width of the opening, and the height of the opening is equal to the height of the canvas.
  • We take into account the presence of opening sashes and adjust the dimensions so that the window in the open state does not touch the folded canvas.
  • We take into account the location of the adjusting controls and make the appropriate adjustments.

In order to finally choose the dimensions and in case of doubts about the measurements taken, it is recommended to make a sketch in a convenient scale and apply all the structural elements to it.

Measuring blinds for installation over the opening

Installing the structure over the opening is very simple, since it is quite simple to measure the required dimensions correctly and it is almost impossible to make any mistakes. Therefore, this method of installation is one of the most common.

Blinds over the opening look beautiful and are an element of decor

The measurement process is carried out as follows:

  • We measure the window opening in width and height.
  • To determine the web width, add 20 mm to the measured value.
  • It is possible to calculate the height of the structure only by adding 50 mm to the measured value of the opening height, which, in fact, we do.
  • We make adjustments to the position of the controls and the structure itself in a collapsed form.

Taking measurements to install blinds between the wings

It is quite difficult to choose the size of the blinds for installing them between the window sashes. Therefore, it is important to perform the correct measurements, the sequence of which is as follows:

  • We measure the dimensions of the visible part of the glass inserted into the frame, excluding glazing beads.
  • If distortions or irregularities are detected, we select a smaller size value, and we carry out measurements at several points.
  • The dimensions of the web formed by the lamellas are determined by adding 10 mm to the measured values to the height and width.
  • The selected size should take into account the location of the blinds in a collapsed form and at the same time not interfere with the opening of the window sashes.

Taking measurements for installation inside a window

Installation of blinds inside the window is possible only if the window frames have the correct geometry and it is possible to move the blinds controls to the outside. That is, the plastic window frame must be specially designed for this type of blinds. In most cases, the design of the window does not provide for opening sashes.

The sequence of actions for determining the dimensions of the canvas is as follows:

  • With a tape measure, we measure the height and width of the visible part of the glass, including the glazing beads.
  • We determine the presence of curvature in the plane of the frame and decide on the possibility of installing blinds.
  • From the measured window height, we subtract the height of the structure for fastening the canvas, which protrudes beyond the position of the upper glazing bead. We add 30 mm to the obtained value and get the desired length of the web.
  • The width of the canvas should be equal to the measured width of the window with glazing beads.
