Do-it-yourself fruit tree puller. Making a homemade collection of fruits from trees. With a can

When it's time to pick apples, the most ripe and beautiful ones hang, as a rule, so high that you can't even reach them from a stepladder. Of course, you can knock them down with a long stick or shake the branch, but when falling, apples will lose not only their attractive appearance. You need a special fruit picker. What if it's not available? It's okay, exactly five minutes of the time spent and you will have a fruit picker no worse than the branded one.

The whole variety of fruit pickers can be divided into three groups. The first group is fruit pickers with cutters at the end of the rod, with the help of which the apple stalk is cut off and it falls into a container located next to the cutter. The movable knife of the cutter is driven by a special rod. Working with such a device is quite tedious, since the cutter is located on the long arm of the rod, and this is additional weight and quite decent.

The second group is the fruit pickers, which in their design resemble a mechanical hand with wire fingers. After grasping the fruit, wire fingers squeeze it with a pull (usually a string), which allows you to tear off the apple. True, in this case, along with the apple, the branch on which the apple grew can also break off.

The fruit pickers included in the third group are the simplest in their design. They are made of fabric or light elastic plastic and are shaped like a bowl with petals, which is attached to a wooden pole. Apples are removed by simply turning the pole around its longitudinal axis, cutting the fruit leg with the help of the fruit picker petals.

The latter idea is embedded in the simplified design of the fruit picker. We take a plastic bottle. For large apples - 2 liters, for medium ones - 1.5 liters. It is quite clear that in the country there will always be such bottles. Cut off the bottom and make a corner cut.

Cut off the bottom with scissors or a knife plastic bottle. We choose the volume of the bottle depending on the size of the apples to be removed.

We make an angular cutout on the edge of the bottle. The same cut can be made on this edge and on the opposite side.

We attach this bottle to a pole, for example, a light long rail. You can attach the fruit picker to the rail using self-adhesive tape or wire.

We fasten the bottle to a light long rail with adhesive tape (adhesive tape).

In just a few minutes, the fruit picker is ready. We bring it from below to the apple to be removed and, turning around the axis, cut off the leg of the fruit with a cutout of the fruit picker. The apple falls into the bottle, which acts as both a cutter and a fruit receptacle.

An apple plucked by a fruit picker.

As a result, apples taken from the highest branches will be safe and sound. Such apples can lie down.

When the time comes to collect fruits from tall trees, the most beautiful and ripe ones are so high that even with the help of a ladder it is impossible to reach them. Of course, in this case, you can use a long stick, with which the fruits are knocked down. Some summer residents shake trees, but the apples are damaged and lose their attractive appearance. appearance. As alternative solution you can use an apple picker. If it is not at hand, and you don’t want to spend money on the purchase, then make such a tool for a short time you can on your own. As a result, it will be possible to obtain a fruit picker that will not differ in efficiency from what is produced in the factory.

Selection of design features before manufacturing

If we consider fruit pickers, they can be divided into several groups. The first of these are tools that are equipped with cutters at the end of the rod. With this add-on, it is possible to cut off the stalk, and the apple will fall into the container, which is located in the immediate vicinity of the cutter. Such a device for picking apples has a movable knife, which is driven by a special traction. Working with such a device is quite tiring, since the cutter is located on the rod, or rather, on its long arm. This creates extra weight, which is quite respectable. A device for picking apples can also belong to the second group, the tools of which resemble a mechanical hand equipped with fingers. The latter are made of wire. After the apple or pear is captured with the help of special fingers, the latter are clamped by means of traction, and the fruit is in the container. This action is performed using a traditional twine. This is what allows you to tear off the fetus. As a minus of this tool, one can single out the fact that the branch itself can break off along with a pear or an apple.

The third group of fruit pickers

If you will be making a device for picking apples, then you can take as a basis the third group, which is the most common in terms of design features. Such structures are made of elastic lightweight plastic or fabric. And the shape of the product is a bowl equipped with petals. A special container must be attached to a wooden pole. Apples are removed by a fairly simple rotation of the pole around an axis that is oriented along. At the same time, the leg is trimmed by means of the petals of the tool.

Preparation for the manufacture of the fruit picker

A device for picking apples from a tree should be made only after you have chosen one of the proposed ideas. The third variety will form the basis of the simplified design of the fruit picking tool. First you need to prepare a plastic bottle. If you have to collect fruits that are quite impressive in size, then a container volume within 2 liters is suitable, while for medium-sized apples or pears, a bottle is suitable, the volume of which is limited to 1.5 liters. Every summer resident will surely have such bottles in stock.

Process technology

If you will be making a device for picking apples with your own hands, then you need to cut off the bottom of the bottle, and then make an angled cutout. It will be convenient to use both a knife and scissors. The above cut along the bottle can also be made on the opposite side.

After the bowl has been prepared, it must be attached to a pole, the last of which can be a long light rail. Fixation can be done with a wire or self-adhesive adhesive tape. After that, we can assume that the fruit picker is ready for operation. To use it, the tool must be brought under the pear or apple, and then rotated around the axis. This will allow you to cut the fetal leg using the cutout that is located on the instrument. The apple will be in a bottle, which can simultaneously act as a collection container and a cutter. A similar device for picking apples from a plastic bottle can be used without lowering the container for some time. Several fruits can fit in one bottle.

Making a fruit picker from a bottle and fishing line

Before you make a device for picking apples, you need to decide on design features future instrument. The same plastic bottle, a mop handle, which is sometimes replaced with a PVC pipe, or a fishing line can form the basis. The length of the latter can vary from 2.5 to 3 meters. You will need scissors and an awl.

Manufacturing process

First you will need to make the so-called enough, which is made from a plastic bottle. The bottom of the container must be cut in such a way that it looks like a crown. Two holes are made in each petal, for this you can use an awl or a hole punch. At the next stage, the product should be given tenacity. For this, a fishing line is used, which is pulled through the neck into the container so that its upper end is threaded into each hole in a circle. You need to bring the fishing line back through the neck. This will allow you to get a bottle that is devoid of a bottom. Two long ends will come out through the neck.

The next step is to fix the holder, in the role of which a full PVC pipe should be used. A double fishing line from a bottle must be passed through the hole in the holder, leading out from the back. If the mop handle has a removable handle, then this is a good solution. To this part of the holder it is necessary to fix the ends of the fishing line. Two holes are made in the handle, into which the fishing line is threaded, the ends are fixed on the other side tightly. The handle is then put back on the handle. If you are making devices for picking pears and apples, then it is important to assemble the entire structure in such a way that the plastic bottle is tightly attached to the holder. The cut edges of the bottle are bent. In this case, you need to make grasping movements. This is the principle of collecting fruits with this tool. If the mop is devoid of a removable part, then its end must be removed, while retreating 10 cm. Two holes must be made on the sides, where the ends of the fishing line are threaded. After they need to be fixed together, and then connected.

For a PVC pipe, several bottle caps can be used as a handle. If you use ten caps, making a hole in the central part of each with an awl, then the free ends of the fishing line can be threaded through the caps, fixing them on the latter. For the stability of the covers, you need to glue them together or make a knot, placing it on the inside of the first cover. This will allow you to get a fairly comfortable removable handle made of caps. In this case, it is necessary to use the same technology as in the case of a mop handle.

Conclusion

If you decide to make a device for picking apples from the ground, then you can use one of the technologies described above. However, the bottle may not have to be placed along the holder stick, but at some angle. This will allow you to collect up to four apples in one container, depending on the size, and then pour them into a bucket. One of these devices is quite simple to make yourself. To do this, you do not even have to visit the store in order to purchase materials.

How can you still pick an apple if it is on the top branch? If you don’t want to climb onto a stepladder, make a fruit picker. Here is at least one like that of V.S. Krutov from Vyborg. The device is convenient to use, easily separates the fruits from the branch, does not break the fruits (Fig. 124, A, B).

Rice. 124. Fruit pickers (dimensions in mm): A, B - designs by V.S. Krutova (1 - hole for attaching the bag, 2 - cord, 3 - pole); B - design by I.I. Lyashenko (1 - cutting 3-5 m, 2 - inner stick).

The material is a stainless steel plate with a thickness of 0.2-1 mm. If there is no such plate, an ordinary tin can will do. But for it to turn into suitable material, additional work is required: riveting the spring from the alarm clock for the elasticity of the glass and riveting the cutting edge, machined like the edges of scissors. We will make a bag for collecting fruits from a nylon stocking, it includes 5-6 fruits. You will also need a prefabricated pole (like a rod) and a cord. When removing the fruit, we bring the puller under it, turn it around the axis, and if the fruit has not separated, we will use the cord, then the apple will be cut like scissors.

Gardener from Sevastopol I.M. Lyashenko also uses a tin can in the manufacture of a fruit picker, but in a slightly different way. It makes three cone-shaped cuts 35 mm deep and 25 mm at the top (Fig. 124, B). Any pole 3-4 m long, 35-45 mm thick is attached to the bank. Drills two holes in the jar for 3-4 mm bolts, tightens them with screws of the same thickness. For better fixing, a bar is inserted inside the jar. In order not to damage the fetus, he glues the bike from the inside of the device.

The largest and delicious apples usually located on the upper branches, and it is very difficult to remove them. Fruit pickers, which are sold in the store, pluck only one fruit at a time. It is very long and inconvenient. You can’t take several pieces at once: apples are beating. Gardener from Tula B.F. The storm somewhat changed the fruit picker. I ripped open the textile pocket from the bottom and sewed on an apple conduit from 2-3 cotton stockings that had served their time. He cut off their socks, and sewed the stockings to the pocket one to the other so that the resulting sleeve did not narrow. With the scheme, each apple, pushing the walls of the stocking, falls smoothly, without damage. The length of the handle and the number of stitched stockings depend on the height of the tree.

N.P. Bezmelnitsyn from Volgograd made a device for picking fruit from a plastic bottle - packaging for detergent(Fig. 125). It will take only 5-10 minutes to cut the bottom and make a cut in the form of four petals on the cylindrical part near it, put the neck of the bottle on a wooden stick, attach it to it with a carnation. That's all: you have hands light(weight about 100 g), not damaging the fruit, convenient fruit picker. It is suitable for picking apples and pears; with a diameter of 85 mm, 4 fruits are placed in it at the same time, with a smaller diameter (76 mm) - 10-15 plums or apricots. The handle can be made removable, and its parts can be connected with an aluminum or duralumin tube.

N. Yasinsky, a resident of the city of Livna, Oryol region, also turned out to be a good fruit picker. The device is easy to handle, does not damage the fruit during removal due to soft rubber rollers. A wooden pole, made up of two halves, allows you to pick up fruits from a great height. The fruit picker consists, according to the gardener, of a catcher, a pusher and a cloth or mesh bag attached to a pole (Fig. 126). Catcher and pusher are made from one piece of wire rod with a diameter of 3-4 mm "circle" in the form of a figure eight, bent at an angle of 90 °. You can shoot fruits up to 140 mm in diameter.

On the fruit picker, which was designed by P.I. Dick from the Stavropol Territory, rims and protrusions for prying fruit are made from a single sheet of durable roofing iron, corrugated along the length of the rim in one line, which gives it additional strength (Fig. 127). After riveting the ends of the rim, a circle with a diameter of 15 cm is obtained. The protrusions 4 cm high are further apart than commercially available plastic fruit pickers. A tube made of the same strong iron is riveted obliquely to the rim. A cutting of any length is inserted into it. Holes are punched at the bottom of the rim, through which a bag is sewn to the rim. When harvesting, it invariably occupies a vertical position, so the fruits, and they are collected in a bag up to one kilogram, do not fall out of it.

V.D. Saraikin from Donetsk uses a delimber bought in a store to pick fruits. Reinforces it at the end of a 4-meter wooden pole with a diameter of 40 mm. And just below it attaches a wire ring with a diameter of 400-500 mm with a bag of rare nylon mesh (Fig. 128). To the moving end of the lopper he ties a twine of the same length as the pole.

Gardener M. Abdusalyamov did not like the purchased fruit picker. Decided to do it to my liking. I took a 6-mm wire, made a ring with a diameter of 15-16 cm from it. I conditionally divided it into four equal parts (Fig. 129). I welded a tube to mark 1 at approximately an angle of 120 ° to the plane of the ring for the handle, to marks 2 and 4 - teeth at an angle of 60 °, to mark 3 - a cutter at the same angle. The teeth, 45 mm high and 10-12 mm wide at the base, are made of a bent 5 mm wire, and the cutter is made of a 1.5 mm thick steel plate sharpened from the inside. Attached to the ring is a pouch 25 cm long made of durable fabric. The cutter helps to pick any fruit from a freely swinging branch without damaging the buds and without shaking off the fruits growing nearby. With his device, the gardener picks up to 15 apples, pears or peaches at a time. For a working day, without any stairs, he collects 300-400 kg of fruit. According to the gardener, the device is also suitable for grape harvesting.

A.M.'s own device for picking up fruits. Stetsko from the Dnipropetrovsk region produces with the help of a metalwork vice or pliers. With the help of these devices, he bends two figures of different shapes from 4-5 mm wire, they are tied at the top and tied together to the pole. A mesh with small cells is attached to the fruit picker (Fig. 130). The stalk of an apple or pear occupies the corner of the inner figure and, turning left and right, breaks off from the fruit.

1, 2 - parts of the fruit picker, 3 - combined parts, 4 - connection with the pole, 5 - finished fruit picker, 6 - fruit clamped in the fruit picker.

The next fruit picker (Fig. 131) was invented by M.I. Shetnev from Brovar. The device also consists of two wire rings (wire cross section 3-4 mm) with a diameter of 150 mm and two aluminum tubes 300 mm long (from an old folding bed). The ends of the wire wheels are pressed into a tube and riveted. For the bolt that fastens both parts of the fruit picker, holes are made in the tubes 160 mm from the ring. Near it, on a long tube, a block for a cord is fastened, the end of which is fixed near the second ring. The second tube is connected to the first spring or rubber band to keep both rings at a given distance. A stocking bag is attached to the first ring, and a piece of tarpaulin is sewn to the second, according to its size. The free end of the first tube is connected to a collapsible pole. When harvesting, the gardener brings the device to the fruit, connects the rings by pulling the cord, the fruit is pressed against the ring and the tarpaulin, the bag opens, and the apple falls into it. If the fruit does not come off immediately, then the fruit picker must be turned in one direction and the other, the cord should not be released. This can be done when the fruit is already in the pouch. At one time, it is better to remove 3-5 apples or pears, otherwise the device will be difficult to hold.

6 - stocking, 7 - canvas, 8 - lever, 9 - cord, 10 - spring.

Before sheathing the rings, the gardener wraps the wire in three layers with insulating tape so as not to damage the fruits. For picking apricots, plums and cherries, it uses a fruit picker of the same design, but with rings of a smaller diameter (25 mm).

And G.I. Tsybulnik from Dnepropetrovsk wanted to help the elderly collect fruits from the ground, especially those that rolled into the bushes of prickly gooseberries. He designed an original collector device, taking a thin-walled stainless steel tube with an outer diameter of 12 and a length of 800-850 mm. At one end of the device, the gardener welds a handle made of the same tube, at the other he fixes two aluminum tablespoons connected like scissors (Fig. 132). Pre-bends the same tube, on the second one fixes two aluminum tablespoons connected like scissors (Fig. 132). Preliminarily bends the handles of spoons at an angle of 90 °, holding them in a vise. Three holes are drilled on the handle of the upper spoon, and a weight of 40 g is strengthened at the end of it.

Rice. 132. Fruit picker designed by G.I. Tsybulnik (dimensions in mm):
1 - cork, 2 - plastic ball, 3 - string, 4 - load.

To the top spoon of EI. Tsybulnik ties a non-stretching cord, the second end of which is tucked into the hole and clamped with a wooden plug. A plastic ball with a diameter of 16 mm with a hole of 3.5 mm strengthens on the cord. The tension of the lace and the distance of the ball from the handle are set at your discretion. With one hand, the burst collector by the handle brings it to the fruit lying on the ground, presses the ball with the index finger - the spoons clamp the fruit, and when it is brought to the bucket or basket, it releases the ball, the spoons release the fruit under the action of the load.

That's all about apple trees. However, not only they grow in the garden, but also other species. fruit trees. Their specific features and the ability of gardeners to "please" their pets will also be discussed in the book.

During the apple season a large number of them falls to the ground, where the fruit begins to rot very quickly. In addition, apples that hit the ground deteriorate much faster than freshly picked ones. Therefore, it is best to collect them before they fall. To do this, you don’t even need to climb a tree, but you just need to use a special device for picking fruit. It's very easy to make and costs almost nothing.

Our video tells in detail how to make a homemade collection of fruits from trees.

To build this device, we need:
- plastic bottle 1.5-2 liters;
- a knife;
- scissors;
- long stick;
- drill with a drill;
- screwdriver.

Let's start making a fruit picker.
We take a plastic bottle, pierce it approximately in the middle with a knife, and then cut it off with scissors. If the part of the bottle with the neck is wrinkled, straighten it.

To make it convenient to use the device, we make sawtooth teeth at the place of the cut.

To keep the bottle on a long stick, we need to drill two holes in its neck with a drill. We take a drill diameter of 3 mm. The holes are located opposite each other.

We take our long stick and we clean it from its side so that it can be inserted into the neck of a plastic bottle.

We insert into the neck and take two self-tapping screws. We fasten the stick with them through the drilled holes.

Our device for removing fruit from a tree is ready.

Now, in order to remove the apple from the tree, you only need to go up to it, lift the fruit picker up so that the apple gets into it. Scroll the device to the side so that the stalk catches on the teeth and the apple comes off the branch. At the same time, it turned out to be in our fruit collector.

Reading time ≈ 7 minutes

During the apple ripening season, every gardener needs a device for picking apples from the tree with his own hands so that the fruits do not rot and deteriorate. As a rule, the most ripe and beautiful fruits are on top, and in order to remove them, many use a ladder or a long stick. But in order not to damage the apples and not climb the tree at the same time, it is better to use a special fruit picker. This tool can be made independently by following a simple instruction. Let's consider all the nuances and stages of making a harvest collection.

A handy fruit picker is a useful thing in the garden!

Varieties of fruit pickers

A home-made fruit picking tool will allow you to remove ripe fruits from trees without loss and unnecessary hassle. At the same time, gardeners will save time and effort, and the crop will not be damaged.

What not to do when picking apples and any other crop in your garden:

  • shake an apple tree with fruits - this way fruits can break and be damaged on the ground, which will lead to rot;
  • knocking ripe apples from the top of the tree with sticks.

All fruit pickers can be divided into several separate groups:

  1. plastic;
  2. From metal;
  3. With damper;
  4. With a fabric basket at the end.

Fruit picker with iron handle

What requirements should a good fruit picker meet:

  • reach high to the very top of the tree;
  • be reliable and hold the harvested fruits well;
  • be functional and easy to maintain.

As a rule, the harvesting process consists of several separate stages: bypassing the territory, picking fruits, sorting and storing fruits. It's no secret that the condition, appearance and shelf life of the entire crop will depend on the accuracy of the assembly. After all, apples with bruised and ground sides will quickly rot and cannot be stored for a long time. That is why it is so important to have your own convenient fruit picker, but it is better to be able to make it yourself from improvised means.

Consider several ways to make easy-to-use homemade devices to harvest from experienced gardeners and farmers.

Easy assembly of a fruit picker from a plastic bottle

The tool will be formed by two parts: a holder and a gripper. For manufacturing you will need:

  • sharp scissors;
  • awl (hole punch);
  • empty plastic bottle (2 liter);
  • a hollow handle from a plastic mop (an old ski pole or PVC pipe will also work);
  • strong fishing line from 2.5 to 3 meters.

Assembly steps:

A step-by-step production of a device for picking apples from a tree with your own hands is shown in the video below.

Homemade fruit picker with a bowl

For manufacturing, you will need a plastic bottle, a long wooden stick (a pole or handle from a garden shovel, pitchfork, etc.), a sharp knife, scissors, self-tapping screws, a drill with drills and a screwdriver.

Assembly process:

The device works as follows: the tool rises up to the branch with fruits so that an apple gets inside the bowl. Then the fruit picker is rotated clockwise to the side until the teeth cut the fruit from the branch. As a rule, in one run it turns out to collect 2-3 apples.

closed design

This is Alternative option fruit picker assembly. Some summer residents prefer to make only a small hole in the manufacture square shape with several cloves from the side of the bottom of the plastic bottle, while not completely cutting off the bottom from the neck, but leaving the structure intact.

In this case, the hole should fit the size of the largest apple on the tree.

The leg is fixed to the neck of the bottle in a known way. The assembly of this device will not take much time and even beginners will be able to do it. It turns out the so-called plastic "palm", which helps to easily grab fruit from the apple tree, sending them to the harvest basket.

At one time, it will be possible to collect from 2 to 3 fruits, therefore, in order to pick more apples, another hole is cut near the neck, where a bag or bag is fixed, where fruits will fall. The material of the bag must be tight so that the apples inside do not damage it and fall out to the ground.

Many gardeners recommend, just in case, to lay a mattress or a thick blanket under the apple tree so that the fruits do not accidentally fall off the branches and break on the ground. You can also reach the nearest branches with an ordinary garden rake, pulling them a little towards you and picking apples by hand. Picking ripe fruit from the top branches with a homemade plastic tool is shown in the video below.

Universal product for apples, pears and plums

This gardening homemade product is made from an old mop with plastic parts, a compressible mechanism and a metal base tube (length 85 centimeters when folded, unfolded 122 centimeters), metal fittings and a pre-sewn through bag made of dense calico (cotton fabric) with a convenient opening valve at the bottom.

The bottom opening of the bag should be well closed with a fixed cord when picking apples and open when it is necessary to pour the collected fruits into the basket.

Assembly steps:

The gardening tool is ready, you can start harvesting! In a bag of such a fruit collector, from 1.5 to 2.5 kg of ripe apples can fit. Apples can be unloaded both from below and from above the fabric bag. The video below shows the process of making a tool step by step.

To make a device for picking apples from a tree with your own hands, you can use one of the above manufacturing technologies. With such a handy tool, you no longer have to climb trees or use a dangerous stepladder. Home-made fruit collectors and bowls will last more than one season, and in case of wear or damage, they can be easily replaced with new ones without spending a lot of money and expensive finished goods. Harvesting will be an exciting experience and will not take much time
