  • Citrus fruits (orange, grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, pomelo, etc.) are strong allergens. Therefore, nursing mothers should not eat them for the first three months of a child's life, and even better - the first six months. Citrus fruits also require caution because they contain artificial preservatives. They are used so that the fruits safely survive transportation from remote plantations. Citrus juices make mother's milk sour. The natural result is irritation of the baby's sensitive digestive organs.
  • Exotic fruits (kiwi, mango, papaya, etc.) are strong allergens that your baby is highly likely to react to, and not in the most pleasant way. Common symptoms include: baby colic, diarrhea, rash. But even among tropical fruits there are real champions in the content of valuable substances that improve lactation and strengthen the health of the baby.
  • Strawberries, wild strawberries, victoria, raspberries, blackberries, sea buckthorn - can sensitize the baby's body and cause allergies. Annoying in some cases digestive system crumbs, lead to pain in the stomach or intestinal colic.
  • Pears, cherries, cherries and apricots can increase infantile colic. You can eat them, but with caution, watching the child. If the baby has negative reactions, you should refrain from these fruits for a while.

Of course, we are not talking about the complete exclusion of favorite fruits from my mother's diet. In small quantities, any fruit is allowed, and they will not harm the child. The main thing is not to overdo it.

  4. The digestive system of an infant matures gradually. And if the body of a newborn reacted unfavorably, for example, to a pear, this does not mean that its fruits will be just as badly tolerated in a month or two.
  5. Heat treatment significantly impoverishes the vitamin and mineral composition. Therefore, it is advisable to consume fruits in their raw form or in the form of freshly squeezed juices. The exception is baked apples.

Are fruit juices necessary?

If you have a choice, it's better to consume fruits rather than juices to get more dietary fiber that is good for the digestive tract.

You can drink fruit juices while breastfeeding, but it is advisable to limit yourself to 150 ml per day (for each type). And do not add sugar - it can harm the health of the baby.

Fruits on the menu of a nursing woman are needed, and it would be a big mistake to avoid them on the principle of "out of harm's way." You should also not play it safe and limit yourself to one or two types of proven fruits. Variety, if it does not harm mother and child, is only welcome.

The use of citrus fruits by a woman during lactation is usually considered highly undesirable due to the risk of allergic reactions in the child.
