Drilling two holes in the bar along the jig. We make a jig for drilling holes with our own hands. Drilling in two parts at the same time

When creating furniture, almost all the details have to be joined end-to-end. This is done with the help of dowels in which holes are made. This is where a special detail is needed. You can buy it or make a furniture conductor with your own hands.

What is a furniture conductor

The conductor is a bar that has several holes and sleeves. It is applied to the desired part, the drill is inserted into the sleeve and a hole is made. To fix two parts, you will need the help of one conductor, while the parts are fixed as securely as possible.

Conductor Benefits:

  • precise drilling;
  • simple and fast creation of holes.

At the same time, conductors are used not only during construction, but also in mechanical engineering. Also, this device allows you to drill cylindrical blanks and pipes.

Different types of conductors

Depending on the industry, conductors are divided as follows:

  • Overhead. They got their name because of the scope. This device is superimposed on the workpiece and fixed, with the help of which holes are made.
  • Swivel. They are used to drill cylindrical holes. In this case, the rotary axes can be located both horizontally and vertically, and at an angle. The housing here is equipped with swivel bushings.
  • Overturned. They are used when holes are created in several planes.
  • Sliding. Used to make each individual hole. In this case, this model is not fixed on the surface, which means that it is not the most convenient.

Do-it-yourself furniture conductor

As we wrote above, this product is needed when assembling furniture. Someone prefers to buy it, and someone to do furniture holes with your own hands. Such products are sold in any hardware stores, it is important to choose finished products for a specific purpose. The cost of a furniture conductor will depend on its size, purpose and manufacturer.

The simplest option is inexpensive, but professional equipment with various additional functions costs a lot. Therefore, today more and more often do-it-yourself furniture conductors and templates are made.

They are produced using a metal sheet or wooden board. They make holes that will serve as guides. This job is easy and anyone can do it.

How to create a conductor

So, creating a furniture conductor with your own hands is not difficult. To get started you will need:

  • welding machine;
  • Bulgarian;
  • drill and some locksmith tools;
  • you also need to prepare reinforcement 10 x 10 mm in advance.

First, the workpiece is cleaned with sandpaper and marking is performed. The distance from center to center is approximately 32 mm. Next, each template hole is drilled. After that, an emphasis is created - for this you can take a metal plate 1 mm thick. It needs to be bent and a place for carving prepared. The last step is the connection of these parts.

The product must be made as accurately and accurately as possible, otherwise there will be no benefit from it, and in an unfavorable situation, it can even damage furniture. You can learn more about how to make a conductor by watching various video tutorials. The easiest way to make it is according to a furniture template, which can also be peeped from specialists.

In order for drilling not to cause complications, a conductor is needed. This device is really needed when assembling furniture. Of course, you can buy everything today, but it’s better to make a furniture conductor with your own hands, because then such equipment is exactly right for each specific purpose.

A furniture jig is a simple mechanical device that speeds up and simplifies the process of drilling holes. The use of this device allows you to create technological holes without pre-applied markings and do it with perfect accuracy, as well as a verified inclination. The device is indispensable during the assembly of furniture structures, during carpentry work. For use in everyday life and in the production of small volumes, it is very easy to make a furniture jig with your own hands.

In fact, a furniture conductor is a regular template with holes of the desired diameter. The working part of the device is a rectangular block of solid material with holes located according to the required markings. For convenience, it can be equipped with regulating and fixing mechanisms. Based on the simplicity of the design, you can quickly make stencils for furniture with your own hands from improvised means.

The jig provides the desired direction of the drill at an angle of 90 degrees to the surface, eliminating the possibility of deviation. This is especially important when working on narrow pieces of furniture, such as the ends of walls or doors. Without this device, it is quite difficult to maintain the desired angle, which can lead to marriage, because even a slight deviation in the direction of the mounting hole can make it impossible to assemble individual elements into a single structure.

For perfect matching of furniture elements to each other also great importance has the accuracy of the location of the holes for fasteners. Those who make furniture with their own hands are often faced with the need to create a series of identical holes at a certain distance from each other. To facilitate the work, to make it faster, it is easier not to markup each time, but to apply a template.

With the help of the conductor, you can work with different furniture materials: wood, chipboard, MDF.

The choice of model for manufacturing

Conductors of industrial production are highly specialized and universal. Templates of the first type are used to perform certain operations on typical parts. Universal devices are suitable for working with different materials and objects of various configurations.

By design features and functionality conductors are divided into the following types:

  • overhead - when used, they are applied to the surface in the desired area, fixed with clamps or held by hand. Used for drilling holes in flat parts;
  • rotary - the working part moves both in vertical, and in horizontal planes. It is used when working with elements of complex geometric shape and for creating holes, the axis of which should be at an angle;
  • tiltable - used to create holes in perpendicular planes.

To mark the places for drilling holes, a marking jig is used. It is much thinner and lighter.

The conductor device can be specially created for a certain type of fastener: dowels, confirmations, screws, corners. There are devices to simplify the process of installing fittings.

According to the type of fixation, furniture conductors can be sliding or fixed. The former move freely over the surface if necessary, the latter are rigidly fixed in the right place. The presence of an adjustment mechanism will help to combine the device with different types of workpieces.

For large furniture manufacturers, the availability of a variety of accessories plays a decisive role, as they significantly reduce time costs. In this case, the cost of the tools does not really matter. A completely different approach to acquiring the necessary equipment from those who have a small production of furniture or from independent craftsmen who make certain types of furniture. In this case, making furniture templates with your own hands is much cheaper and more practical. The choice of the right options, the complexity of the fixture is determined not only by production needs, but also by the skill and experience of furniture manufacturers.

Materials and tools

For the manufacture of the device, it is necessary first of all to determine the tasks that it will perform. Accordingly, the necessary material is selected from which the furniture template will be made by hand. The most durable, reliable and "long-playing" is considered to be a metal conductor. To create a furniture conductor for drilling with your own hands, it is permissible to use wood, plywood, textolite, plexiglass. This is due to lower labor costs and low cost of material. All this is important, especially if you are going to make several different templates yourself.

For the manufacture of a conductor, a piece of reinforcement, a bar or a plate is suitable - something that is sure to be found in any garage or home workshop. To make a simple marking device, you can take a regular school ruler - wooden, plastic or metal.

Of decisive importance in the manufacture of the jig is the exact calculation of the location of the holes on the workpiece. Can be taken ready scheme or make it yourself. The latter option is preferable, since the dimensions in the drawings must correspond to the tasks being solved.

Of the tools you will need:

  • drill;
  • grinder or jigsaw;
  • a set of locksmith tools;
  • clamps;
  • vise.

In the manufacture of the jig, perfectly precise drilling of pilot holes and hardening of the finished fixture will be required.

Drawing homemade conductor for drilling holes for confirmations

Manufacturing steps

Consider the process of creating a metal conductor device for confirmations. This fastener is most often used in furniture assembly:

  • a piece of the desired length is cut off from a metal bar of square section (10x10 mm) using a grinder. The ends of the resulting segment are leveled with a file and cleaned of burrs. Corners and edges can be rounded for convenience and safety of use;
  • holes are marked on the workpiece. Their centers should be located at a distance of 8 mm from the side face (chipboard sheet thickness - 16 mm). From the end and between the holes should be 32 mm, according to the generally accepted system of furniture fastenings. For marking, you can use a carpenter's corner or caliper. It is better to make marks on the part with a sharp metal object - an awl or a large needle. You can use a core and a hammer to make holes for the initial installation of the drill. It is important when drilling holes to prevent displacement of the drill and make them strictly perpendicular to the surface of the workpiece;
  • using a drill with a diameter of 5 mm, make holes;
  • to create an emphasis, you need to cut a piece of the desired length from a metal plate (1x25 mm);
  • finish the edges with sandpaper;
  • bend the workpiece at a right angle, holding it in a vise. Fold the parts, aligning them coaxially;
  • fasten the parts in this position with a clamp;
  • on the side of the plate along the length of the device and at the end, drill holes corresponding to the size of the screw. Cut threads and fasten parts;
  • cut off the excess of the stop plate, process the edges.

Accurately and efficiently make holes in products made of natural wood, chipboard, MDF, metal and other materials, such a convenient device as a jig allows. Such a device, in particular, is actively used by specialists involved in the production of furniture. At the same time, the conductor can be either purchased in serial execution or made by hand.

Design features and types

The jig, in fact, is a template for drilling holes, allowing them to be made as accurately as possible. It is also used to create holes, the axis of which is perpendicular to the surface of the part, and for drilling at an angle.

Due to their versatility and simplicity, drilling jigs are actively used in various fields. In particular, in the engineering industry, they have long been successfully used for drilling holes in workpieces of various configurations and made of different materials. It is impossible to work without a conductor and in furniture production, where such a device is actively used when assembling furniture, installing accessories on it and performing a number of other technological operations. Construction is another area where conductors find wide application. With their help, in particular, drilling holes in building structures. Jigs are also needed for drilling pipes and other tasks.

As a furniture conductor, overhead models are most often used, made of lightweight materials, so that it is more convenient to manipulate them. You can purchase such devices in the factory version or make a furniture conductor with your own hands. Qualified furniture makers may not use a jig to drill a hole in furniture construction elements with high quality and accuracy, but for this they must have extensive experience in their field.

The most significant advantage of the jig is that with its help, even a person who is not highly qualified can perform high-quality and accurate drilling of both a perpendicular to the surface of the part and an inclined hole. The use of conductors eliminates the need for complex preliminary calculations and marking the locations of future holes, which reduces the complexity of assembling a furniture structure and allows you to perform such work in a shorter period of time. Even a novice specialist can understand the use of a jig for drilling under dowels and for solving other technological problems.

Before you purchase or make your own homemade jig, determine what tasks you need to use it for, and based on this data, select its type and design.

Among the conductors for drilling holes, according to the type of design and functionality, one can distinguish whole line categories.
Overhead

These conductors are called so because they are applied to the workpiece and fixed on it, or simply fixed by hand. By means of conductors of this type, in particular, holes are drilled in chipboard, MDF boards and other flat parts.

Swivel

Such templates can be used to make holes on cylindrical parts. Conductors of this type are equipped with vertical and horizontal axes of rotation, which makes it possible to make holes for different angles.

Universal

These are fixtures that are especially relevant for small batch production, where the ability to quickly change over the equipment used is important. The conductor of this type is just endowed with such functions.

Tiltable

These devices for drilling holes are required in cases where such a technological operation has to be performed in several planes.

Sliding and fixed

The sliding jig, in full accordance with its name, does not require fixing: it is simply applied to that part of the surface of the part where the hole needs to be drilled. Fixed jig devices, although they are more convenient, somewhat limit the freedom of action of a specialist, which is especially critical when performing drilling work on machines equipped with only one spindle.

Areas of use

Furniture conductors and templates are devices that are practically indispensable when assembling furniture structures. The use of jigs avoids the main problem that occurs when drilling holes - the drill enters the workpiece at the wrong angle. Correcting this error takes a lot of time and effort, and it is not always possible to fix it at all. The jig used for drilling holes not only allows the drill to be correctly oriented at the machining site, but also prevents the tool from going astray.

Devices such as furniture jigs and templates are used both in the manufacture and assembly of furniture, when it is necessary to make holes in the elements to be joined to accommodate fasteners. In such cases, a jig for dowels or a jig for drilling for confirmation is often used, without which it is not possible to make high-quality holes for fasteners. Such a device is indispensable in cases where it is required to make holes, including at an angle, in thin slabs (in particular, when making holes in chipboard or MDF).

When using a jig for drilling holes, the process of assembling furniture is simple and fast. Using such a device, holes can be drilled at any distance from the edge of the part, regardless of its width.

AT modern furniture dowels are actively used, which at the same time are quite an outdated fastener. That is why the jig for dowels (doweling jig) is used in the production of furniture structures. The main difficulty when using such fasteners is that the axes of the holes made in the parts to be joined have a right angle between them. Accordingly, such holes should be located strictly perpendicular to each other. Without the use of such a device as a jig for dowels, it is difficult to perform them.

Furniture production is not the only area in which conductors are used for drilling holes. Templates are no less often used in order to drill a hole in a pipe and other parts that have cylindrical shape. Conductors allow you to make high-quality holes even in pipes of small diameter.

The size and principle of operation of modern conductors can be different. Some of the models of such devices are much easier to buy, and some are easy to make with your own hands. In favor of making a furniture jig for drilling holes with your own hands, the fact that serial devices, especially for universal purposes, are not cheap, also speaks.

Homemade conductor devices

Conductors the simplest design, for example, those that are used to drill holes for confirmation are relatively inexpensive, so many craftsmen are not puzzled by them self-manufacturing and purchase serial models. Meanwhile, there are those who are even simple devices trying to do it by hand. The question of how to make a jig for drilling with your own hands often appears and, if necessary, drill non-standard holes.

To independently make a jig for dowels or a simpler jig for confirmations, you can use the drawings and videos on the Internet.

For the manufacture of such a device, of course, its drawing is required. You also need a minimum set of tools and equipment:

  • electric or hand drill;
  • a set of locksmith tools;
  • Bulgarian;
  • welding machine (for the manufacture of conductor fixtures of a more complex design).

The simplest homemade jig can be made from improvised tools and materials that are abundant in most home workshops or garages. The use of such materials, which include pieces of metal fittings, wooden blocks, metal plates, etc., can significantly save on the purchase of a serial model of the device.

Making a homemade jig for a drill or a single-spindle machine takes place in several stages.

  1. Square reinforcement with a cross section of 10 by 10 mm, using a hacksaw for metal or a grinder, must be cut into pieces of the required length.
  2. The centers of the holes to be drilled through must be 8 mm from the edge of the jig plate. It is at this distance that the center is located chipboard or MDF, in which a hole is drilled.
  3. The step between the holes on the conductor in accordance with generally accepted furniture standards is 32 mm, while the diameter of such holes should be 5 mm.
  4. If you equip a homemade jig with an emphasis, then using such a device will be much more convenient. To create such an emphasis, you need a metal plate 1 mm thick and 25 mm wide, which is bent at a right angle and fixed on a ready-made jig made of reinforcement.
  5. After the structural elements of the homemade conductor are fixed with a clamp, they must be securely connected to each other using threaded fasteners.

Quite often there is a need to drill a hole at a certain angle, to a precisely specified depth or with a normalized offset from the edge. In the conditions of an equipped workshop, this is not difficult to do, but in field work you have to use various devices.

Device and scope

There are a lot of options for drilling devices, but all of them are united by the presence of three structural elements. The first is the guide bush, which is made of steel with increased hardness, has a ground inner surface and is distinguished by precise diameter tolerances. Even with a sleeve length of 10 mm, a deviation from the given direction is not more than 0.5 °, especially if the sleeve is at some distance from the surface of the workpiece.

The second structural element is a device for fixing the conductor on the workpiece or the surface to be machined. As a rule, one or more screw clamps act as such an element, which makes it possible to reliably immobilize the jig relative to the workpiece. If we are talking about a device for drilling walls, a handle, a vacuum suction cup or perforation for installation on a temporary point fastener can act as a fixation element. In any case, the need to immobilize the conductor is clearly dictated not only by the requirements for high accuracy, but also by the need to ensure the cleanliness of processing and to exclude damage to the surfaces adjacent to the hole, especially slippery ones.

The third structural element is the system for positioning the conductor along the markings or base surfaces. The drilling area when using a jig is usually not visible, so there may be additional holes on the jig body with marks, the centers of which are exactly aligned with the axis of the drill guide. Side stops can also be used for parts with base planes - this positioning principle is implemented in jig for drilling ends.

For furniture assembly

The most famous conductor, which is widely used in the manufacture of cabinet furniture additives, is KWB Dubelprofi. This is a fairly versatile fixture that has an adjustable stop for drilling exactly in the center of the butt and with a certain indentation from the edge, which makes the jig an excellent help in making holes for confirmation according to a separate pattern with high precision adjustment. There is also a turret with guides of different diameters, thanks to which the product can be quickly reconfigured also for making connections on dowels or body ties. Particularly pleasant is the presence of a guide protrusion for visual alignment of the end and reciprocal holes.

For the installation of cabinet furniture, there is big number more simple conductors. The greatest difficulty is drilling the ends of the parts: it is necessary to maintain not only centering, but also parallelism to the main planes, otherwise swelling will occur when the fasteners are tightened. To solve this problem, such conductors as LUXTools, Wolcraft, NAREX as well as CMT656 and many other nameless, but less efficient linear conductors, in which the guides are located with fixed indents, can be used, which also greatly simplifies the implementation of additive schemes. Particularly advanced in this regard is the Cheron series of conductors and templates, with the use of which the assembly of furniture at confirmations is accelerated significantly. The conductors SMT333 and SMT334 are excellent for installing hinges, but this drilling technology implies the need to install 8mm threaded bushings.

For carpentry

The list of conductors for the preparation of carpentry joints is the most diverse. For these purposes, both single products and entire series of devices are successfully used, the use of which significantly expands the range of operations performed.

One of the most common types of conductors allows you to quickly and accurately drill for countersunk connections on oblique screws. Examples include the Wolcraft Undercover Jig, Kreg Jig Mini and Kreg Jig K Master. These fixtures are very different in design, some may not have regular means of fixation and require the use of quick-clamp clamps. Nonetheless technical execution of all conductors is at a high level.

In general, the products of such brands as Kreg, Wolcraft and CMT are complete systems for making carpentry joints on dowels and minifix / rafix ties, as well as marking and drilling combined holes, including blind ones. In the rulers, you can find guides for making box connections on grooves like " dovetail» and conductors that replace lamellar routers.

general purpose

The scope of drilling jigs is not limited to carpentry and furniture assembly. Thus, the already mentioned KWB Dubelprofi and similar devices are ideal for drilling holes on flat surfaces, for example for fastening in walls. Jigs with a V-groove on the sole are practically the only tool that allows you to quickly and accurately drill into round pipe or into a rectangular edge of the part.

The need to drill strictly perpendicular holes in concrete and brick walls often occurs during the manufacture of openings or the need to bypass hidden technological channels or fittings. In the simplest case, Wolcraft Tecmobil or KWB 7778 drilling stands can be used for these purposes; these devices are also designed for desktop use. In the case of making holes of a significant diameter, devices such as Mechanic Distar, designed, among other things, for drilling with victorious crowns, are of great help, in the same series there are convenient dust collectors.

The most serious and highly specialized conductors are called stands for diamond drilling. In this segment, you can find budget options, such as the Titan HC 1000, as well as expensive accessories from Bosch and AGP. Distinctive feature such conductors - the presence of a split coupling for attaching the spindle neck of a drill or hammer drill, or a specialized drilling machine. Also, the conductors have a mechanical feed device, which is a mandatory requirement when using diamond crowns.

Independent production of conductors

As a conclusion, it should be noted that most craftsmen do not have to spend money on fairly expensive drilling fixtures. For one-time technical operations, it is not required that the conductor be designed for drilling hundreds of holes, therefore, in some cases, the usual wooden block, in which a series of holes of the required diameter were made on a drilling machine, as well as drills with an elongated shank.

For more technological solutions, you can use a system of a seamless pipe, perpendicularly fixed on a metal plate, and a bearing located inside it right size. This design can be supplemented with stops, screw clamps and centering holes with minimal effort.

In the process of assembling or repairing furniture, it is often necessary to perform work on precise drilling of holes for confirmation, for dowels, dowels and other furniture fasteners. In the case of wood and chipboard, it is difficult to make such holes using only an electric drill: the entrance part of the hole is broken, and it itself may not turn out at right angles to the mating surfaces. Thus, a jig is required for drilling holes.

Purpose and classification of furniture conductors

The purpose of the jig for drilling holes is to accurately direct the drill to the required point, and ensure the straightness of the tool throughout the entire depth of the hole being made. In metalworking, such devices have been known for a long time, and are often supplied with the machine. Due to the increased number of closed connections in modern furniture products, the need for such conductors for woodworking specialists is very relevant.

There are the following types of furniture conductors:

  1. Overlays that do not require fixing before use. They are simple, mobile, but they force you to use only one hand when drilling (if the drill or grinder is not installed in a special frame). Making such a conductor with your own hands is easy and simple. They are mainly used when making holes in MDF or chipboard.
  2. Swivel, which are equipped with folding brackets, and allow you to perform drilling on two planes adjacent to each other with one go.
  3. Conductors for drilling holes at an angle. A highly specialized version of the conductor, which is designed to make holes at various angles. Often combined with the overhead design of the equipment in question.
  4. Sliding, with which you can make several holes without changing the settings (including in several rows). More necessary for professionals who often have to perform such work. Requires skill to use correctly.

With sufficient rigidity of the conductor, it can also be used for drilling holes in products that do not have a flat plane, for example, in pipes. Then the conductor is fixed with a clamp (this option is not suitable for furniture, because of the danger of surface deformation).

Jig for drilling holes with your own hands

Basically, such equipment consists of the following parts:

  1. An angular body element applied to the surfaces of products, which will subsequently be connected to each other with dowels, dowels or confirmations.
  2. Guide bushings, which includes a drill.
  3. Clamping / fixing devices, which are located at the end parts of the conductor.

For a conductor who is supposed to be made by hand, it is important to design a fixture for the most common fastening options for a home craftsman. If you need a universal conductor (for furniture makers), then it is better to spend money on an industrial version of the equipment, which is different increased accuracy fixing parts, and has a better performance. Moreover, manufacturers often offer templates, stops and other useful little things. The price of a furniture conductor for industrial production ranges from 500 to 1200 rubles, which is determined by its functionality– length and number of guide holes.

Let's start designing a furniture jig for drilling holes by choosing a corner. More opportunities for the product, where the corner will be unequal, and with the maximum possible thickness of the shelf. According to the GOST 8510 range “Steel unequal angles”, the minimum allowable dimensions are the L63 × 40 × 8 angle: with a shelf thickness of 8 mm, a guide sleeve with an outer diameter of up to 6 mm can be placed there. The inner hole for the drill, therefore, can be no more than 3.5 ... 4 mm, but this is quite enough for most options for the holes to be obtained. In extreme cases, they can be drilled out without using the fixture, especially if the hole is deep enough.

The next step is the design of the guide bushing. It can be selected from any stainless pipe GOST 9941 (seamless) or GOST 9940 (all-welded). It is recommended that you first select the pipe according to the diameter of the inner hole. A 6×1 pipe will make it possible to obtain an internal hole for a drill with a diameter of up to 3.6 ... 3.7 mm, and a 6×1.5 pipe - for a drill up to 2.7 mm (double-sided clearance is taken taking into account the thermal expansion of the material). The length of the sleeve must be no less than twice the height of the hole made in the corner. The landing of each bushing in the hole must be carried out with an interference fit or transition. The most appropriate is the fit on the shaft system, when the already known outer diameter of the sleeve is taken as the basis, and a hole is drilled under it in the corner. It is better to use a slight interference fit, such as h9/P10.

It happens that the conductor must be calculated for drilling a deep hole. In such cases, the sleeve must be stepped (with a shoulder). Bushings for machine tools according to GOST 12214 have the necessary accuracy and dimensions, the inner hole in which has a constant diameter value along the entire height of the bushing.

The number of holes, and especially the distance between them, is chosen according to the specific needs of the user.

When choosing a mounting method for the conductor, choose one of the following options:

  • Spring stop, which will press the surface of the conductor to the part due to the elastic forces of the material. Any flat spring with the required clamping force is suitable as such an emphasis;
  • Fixing with self-tapping screws, which are screwed into the material of the part, and keep the jig from being displaced by friction forces. This option is convenient in that the resulting outlines can be further used as additional elements centering the future hole. In the case of chipboard, this option should be used with caution;
  • External clamps, under which it is worth placing corrugated rubber gaskets. In this case, the weight of the conductor will increase, and the compliance of the rubber may violate the perpendicularity of the axis of the conductor bushings. Therefore, using this method of fastening, the drill is first inserted into the sleeve, the hole is marked, and only after that the clamp is used.

Drilling jig for dowels and dowels

The sequence and design of the simplest devices for accurately obtaining holes is considered in the following two examples:

  1. Multi-position conductor with clamp fastening (see Fig. 1). A thick-walled aluminum corner is adopted here as the initial body part. Due to the considerable length of the device, an intermediate fastening is provided in the middle. When turning the jig at an angle of 90º, the increased thickness of the wall of the corner, which is superimposed on the surface of the part, is successfully used. The distance between the guide bushings is selected according to the most common distances for dowels or for confirmation.

Figure 1 - Multi-position jig for drilling holes with clamp fastening

  1. Two-slider furniture jig, with which you can make holes in two mutually mating parts. The design of the device is clear from the attached drawing (see Fig. 2). It consists of two guide lines, which are connected by fasteners to the connecting bar. The presence of several holes on it allows you to install the bar on parts of various widths. Interchangeable housings with a set of guide bushings with different distances between them move along the rulers. The conductor is fixed with the help of a connecting strip, and on the opposite side - with a stroke limiter, which is pressed with a wing screw.
