DIY spinner: step by step photo instructions. How to make a do-it-yourself spinner without a bearing: the best workshops How to make a big do-it-yourself spinner

Spinner is an entertaining anti-stress toy, which was originally developed as a therapeutic tool for the development of fine motor skills and the fight against autism.

However, unexpectedly for everyone at the beginning of 2017, this simple bearing-based design gained wild popularity around the world.

For children, a spinner has replaced a spinning top, teenagers come up with all sorts of tricks with spinners, and office workers use them to relieve tension after difficult business negotiations ...

In this article we will tell you how to make an original spinner from improvised materials with your own hands.

What inventory is needed to make a glue spinner yourself

One of the most simple ways the manufacture of a spinner involves the use hot glue (hot glue). This is a special thermoplastic polymer material that melts under high temperature and becomes solid again when cooled.

hot glue spinner it turns out to be very durable, it is not afraid of falling even on a concrete floor, and if the bearing still falls out, then it can always be put back.

Unlike a cardboard spinner made of PVA glue, this option is more practical and durable.

To make a hot melt spinner, you will need the following tools and materials:

  • Bearing right size(diameter 20-30 mm is considered optimal);
  • Thermal gun household;
  • Glue sticks - their number depends on the size of the spinner. For a small manual twister, one stick of glue with a diameter of 11 mm will be enough, a larger one will take 2-3 sticks;
  • Sheet of parchment paper;
  • Spinner template;
  • Old CD;
  • Sandpaper "zero";
  • Scotch;
  • Paint can.

It should be noted that there are different glue sticks - they can be transparent, white or colored.

Rods of light color and opaque consistency are intended for gluing glass and metal. Because the adhesive will be in contact with the smooth surface of the bearing, these are the hot rods you should choose for your heat gun.

When choosing a hot melt adhesive, you should also pay attention to the melting point of the rods, since not all models of household thermal guns can heat up to 150 degrees or more.

Instructions - do-it-yourself do-it-yourself spinner from bearings and glue

The order of work is as follows:

  1. First you need to prepare a mockup of the future spinner. To do this, you can trace the outline of an existing twist on parchment paper or come up with your own original shape of the blank. The main condition is that the center of gravity of the future spinner should be exactly in the center of the bearing. Alternatively, you can simply find a suitable spinner image on the Internet and trace the outline by attaching parchment to the monitor.
  2. Then you need to cut the template along the contour and transfer it to the surface of the CD (attach and trace with a pencil). At this crucial stage, it is important that the center of the workpiece exactly coincides with the center of the CD hole.
  3. Next, you should install the bearing exactly in the center of the future spinner and you can begin to form a product from hot melt adhesive. To do this, heat the thermostat to the required temperature.
  4. With gentle movements, we apply the glue in an even layer, filling the entire contour of the future spinner. At the same time, it is important to ensure that the bearing remains in place during operation.
  5. When the hot melt adhesive hardens, you can separate the spinner from the disk. Since the surface of the CD has poor adhesion, the hot melt adhesive falls off of it almost by itself.
  6. Spinner is almost ready. It remains only to correct its shape with sandpaper and you can start testing. To make the finished spinner more attractive appearance, you can paint it (do not forget to cover the bearing with tape before painting).

VIDEO INSTRUCTION

Making a hot glue spinner can be even easier. All you need is 3 identical bearings and hot melt adhesive.

The procedure is as follows:

  1. We heat up the thermal gun and with the help of glue we connect two bearings together, let the glue finally grab;
  2. We put the workpiece on a flat surface, apply glue to the third bearing and glue it in such a way that all 3 bearings are in line. A real heavy spinner is ready!

A simple spinner made of paper, glue and a bearing

Alternative - no glue

Is it possible to do spinner without glue? Yes, it's real too. One of the simplest options is a spinner made of three identical bearings on plastic tie-clamps for tying cable bundles.

The manufacturing principle is the same as in the previous version, only ties are used instead of glue to connect the bearings.

They are a thin strip of flexible and durable vinyl. On one side of the tie there is a lock into which the second end of the clamp is inserted and tightened until it stops.

VIDEO REVIEW

First, all three bearings are connected in an outer circle, then the spinner is pulled together between the bearings. The result is a structure that is strong enough to withstand even drops to the floor.

Photos of all kinds of spinners are filled with everything social media, so there is no problem with the question of what it is. Moreover, this rotating thing has become a trend in 2017, and the variety of their types, options and possibilities will not leave anyone indifferent.

There are turntables of different price categories from 29 rubles to several hundred thousand, but it is becoming more and more popular to make them yourself. It is more interesting and cheaper, and "your" toy is also unique and unusual. How to make a spinner at home - read this article.

What is it and why?

The spinner is an original fashionable anti-stress toy, also called a hand spinner and spinner. Its device and mechanism of action is simple: in the center there is a metal or ceramic bearing, and around it there are several blades or weights.

True, toys are now being modernized with might and main, experimenting with colors, materials, shapes, speakers, and even embedding a Bluetooth system for synchronization with a smartphone. Glow-in-the-dark spinners have also become widespread.

Both ordinary adults and psychologists argue about the functionality and benefits of spinning things. A consensus has not yet been reached, but most tend to believe that spinners have the following positive characteristics:

  • Calms in stressful situations;
  • Helps to concentrate;
  • Develops children's motor skills;
  • Copes with nervous and mental stress;
  • It becomes a great alternative to bad habits;
  • Causes desire to collect and collect;
  • Promotes communication.

The danger of modern toys lies in its ever-growing popularity, as schoolchildren begin to invent and implement rather extreme tricks for the sake of spectacular videos. Also, turntables can distract from study, develop unhealthy competition.

However, if a child or an adult is on fire with the idea of creating a spinner with their own hands, then here we can only talk about its undoubted benefits. Indeed, in the process, motor skills, logical thinking will definitely develop, and fantasy and creativity will reach a new level.

Instructions on how to make a do-it-yourself spinner

Mentally, the whole process of creating a spinner can be divided into four stages: thinking through the design of the toy, drawing up a drawing and diagram, preparing necessary materials and direct work on the product.

Each stage is important, so let's look at them in more detail.

Step 1 - Thinking over the model

Here you need to decide what your future spinner will be: classic or unusual, paper, plastic or iron, simple or complex, and so on.

Based on this, an algorithm for further actions will be built.

Step 2 - Making a drawing

You can’t count on the eye, so it’s better to display your imagination on cardboard and remember your drawing skills.

If you don’t like working with pencil and paper, then go the easy way and look for ready-made schemes on the Internet, print out the one you like and start preparing materials.

Step 3 - Gathering Everything You Need

The materials from which you can build a spinner are striking in their variety, which allows you to choose the most suitable option. So, the basis can be paper, cardboard, electrical tape, chips, coins, solid wood, children's designer or soda caps.

“Tools” will help in translating fantasy into reality:

  • Bearings;
  • Scissors or stationery knife;
  • Pen, pencil or felt-tip pen;
  • Adhesive suitable for the type of material;
  • Jewelry (rhinestones, gouache, stickers, etc.);
  • Devices for working with wood (centimeter, hacksaw, jigsaw, chisel, sandpaper, drill, etc.)

The bearing can be removed from an old skateboard, a bicycle of non-functioning equipment (washing machine, printer, fan) or bought in a store where its price usually varies between 20-50 rubles. The diameter of the part is proportional to the size of the future toy, and a value of 2 cm is considered universal.

It is important to properly prepare the materials in order to enhance the capabilities of the product. So, bearings bought in a store should be removed from factory grease, since it is harmful for a toy: it stains hands and slows down rotation.

Extraneous plaque is removed simply: dust protection rings are removed, bearings are filled with gasoline to an unnecessary container and left in the liquid for several minutes, during which it is recommended to shake them.

Step 4 - Getting Started

When the choice is made and the tools are collected, you can get to work. Below are the simplest and lightest designs of spinners, having understood the structure of which, it will not be difficult to improve the technique with other materials.

Note!

paper spinner

In the simplest model of a turntable, the bearings are replaced with an axle, and the solid body is replaced with paper or cardboard. Making a paper spinner is easy and fast:

  1. Prepare two paper squares 15x15 cm (preferably different colors), a toothpick and clip caps from the cap of the pen;
  2. Fold each square in half, then bend their corners obliquely;
  3. Lay the two pieces on top of each other so that they are perpendicular
  4. Bend the triangles inward as follows: first the right one, then the top one, then the left one, and wrap the bottom one under the very first one;
  5. Pierce the middle with a toothpick, expanding the hole by 1 mm;
  6. Fasten the rod with clamps on both sides of the axle and cut off the excess ends.

Cardboard spinner

Spinners without bearings also include cardboard products. For a three-blade model, we make a drawing of four circles in the shape of a triangle on cardboard, cut out two copies, as well as four smaller circles. On one half we place coins of suitable diameter and glue them, and fix the upper part on top.

With nail scissors we make a hole in the structure and similarly in two small circles.

We put 1 cm of a plastic rod into one of the circles ballpoint pen, fix it with glue, put the rod into the spinner and close it with the second circle. The remaining third and fourth circles are fixed from above.

Bearings and bottle caps

A more complicated version is a model assembled from covers from plastic bottles(from 4 to 7 depending on the number of blades) and four bearings.

Note!

You will also need tools: glue gun, drill, knife, sandpaper.

The technology looks like this:

  • We grind corks with sandpaper to remove bumps and roughness;
  • We cut a hole to match the bearing in the axial cover;
  • We place the remaining caps around the center at the same distance from each other (for greater accuracy, it is recommended to use additional caps or a paper drawing);
  • We glue the corks together, not forgetting the smooth transition between them and the central cover;
  • We insert the bearings into the remaining covers, fix them inside with a layer of glue;
  • We decorate and decorate the product.

Spinner cleaning

Instead of making or buying a new spinner, you can always fix the old one.

Failure is usually of two types: damage to the housing and contamination of the bearing.

In the first case, any super glue will come to the rescue, you can clean the metal ball with WD-40 and alcohol, not forgetting to eventually lubricate the bearing with synthetic oil. In general, the following algorithm should be followed:

  1. Disassemble the toy, fixed with a thread, by fixing the lower part and unwinding the upper one.
  2. If the lid is fastened with magnets, then you should pick up the top with a thin object through the visible joint and lift it up.
  3. Release the bearing by easily removing the plastic or metal baffle.
  4. If the part is fixed with sealant, then it is not necessary to chip it off and get it out. In such cases, the entire body is cleaned with isopropyl alcohol.
  5. Pour the cleaner onto the balls and twist them with a toothpick or match to completely and evenly distribute the liquid.
  6. Rinse the bearing, leave to dry, avoiding the ingress of lint and dust inside. You can use a hairdryer.
  7. Lubricate the part with one drop of oil.

Everyone can make a spinner at home, because its device is clear and simple, and any available materials can serve as a body and a rotating rod.

Note!

It’s better to start with paper models, gradually improving your skills, and who knows what features and capabilities you will enrich your toy over time?

Photo of modern spinners

During the recording on the channel "Stundart" of the last video, the jigsaw broke. After I took it apart, it turned out that the gear was worn out and could not be repaired. Twisted everything from him. Including two bearings. If they were the same, then it would be possible to adapt, but they are of different diameters. So I had to figure out where to go. On the Internet, the author of the channel found that spinners are made from unnecessary bearings.

Print and cut out the drawing of the spinner. Download link .

We glue the cut-out stencil to a piece of 10 mm plywood, the thickness of the plywood should be equal to or slightly larger than the width of the bearing. Using a jigsaw, cut the workpiece along the contour. On the this stage, the main thing is to carefully cut out the concave surfaces, because in the future it is the most difficult to process. It is also desirable to cut curved surfaces as close to the contour as possible, but since it is easier to get close to them with any tool, this is not so critical.

To increase the moment of inertia, it is necessary to provide weights. by the most simple option are coins glued to each other. For 10 mm plywood, eight ten-kopeck coins must be glued together. Since the two outer coins will be decorated, for now we are making weights from six coins. We level the inner surfaces of the workpiece with a drill. The outer surfaces are carefully and quickly brought to the contour with a grinder with a grinding wheel. All remaining irregularities are removed manually with sandpaper.

Mark and drill center holes. With a feather on a tree, we drill a hole for the bearing and weights. I used 608 with an outer diameter of 22 millimeters, so the central hole is drilled with a pen of 20 millimeters. And the diameter of a ten-kopeck coin is 17.4 millimeters, so the outer holes are drilled with a pen with a diameter of 16 millimeters. In order not to damage the outer layer, it is necessary to drill a hole to the middle, and continue to unfold the workpiece from the other side.

Bearing, you can use any. We bring all the holes to the required diameters with a drill. The main thing is that there should be an interference fit, otherwise you will have to glue it. The holes for the weights must be made so that the coins pass through them with ease. To facilitate the design, we will remove the rounding radii around the entire perimeter of the workpiece.

I did not foresee the moment in advance, so I had to draw the borders manually. AT new version drawing defect has already been corrected. If someone wants to make his “spinner” even lighter, then you can cut the workpiece exactly along this contour.

Having completely finished with grinding, we proceed to puttying the toy. It is necessary to cover the part with putty in order to completely hide all the irregularities, and also so that after painting it is not clear what the spinner is made of. While the putty dries, prepare the top coins for painting.

Gently, so as not to tear off the skin from the fingers, we grind the top layer from six coins. The easiest way is from the side of denominations. With the same success, you can half-clamp the coins in a vise and go through them with a file, and turn them over and go through again. In two layers, paint the coins with a yellow spray, between the layers we let the paint dry a little. When the putty dries, we grind the unnecessary layer with fine-grained sandpaper. Also, it is necessary to remove all the putty from the surface of the holes, otherwise, when pressing the bearings and coins, it will fall off and an unpainted layer is visible. Having completely processed the part, we cover it in two layers with black spray paint. After all the parts have dried, proceed to the assembly.

On the one hand, we insert three decorative coins into the body of the toy. On the other hand, we apply superglue and press in the weighting agents. Make sure that the first coin does not fly out, otherwise you can stain the case with glue, scratch it. We apply more superglue and press in the remaining coins, hold the coins on the other side. Before installing the bearing in its place, we insert a wooden chop for holders into its inner hole. The chopstick should fit snugly and protrude from the body by 1 millimeter on each side. We press into the socket. In principle, the spinner is ready and works great.

But you need something to hide the bearing. The master made such plastic medallions a long time ago. I wanted to make a rosary out of them, but I could not drill holes. Let's make holders out of them. Detach the yellow lining from the two medallions on one side and glue to the chop. If you want to do something similar, you can cut two disks out of plywood. Well, if you are too lazy to bother, then you can use two coins or buttons as holders.

Before testing, be sure to let the glue dry completely. And that's it! Spinner is ready. It turned out to be an original trinket to keep your hands busy with something. Neither you nor your friends have ever seen anything like this before, so you can surprise with a thing and at least briefly attract the attention of others. The master is pleased that he found a use for an ownerless bearing. Later, probably, we will make a two-blade spinner from the second one. There is a model.

Spinner conquers the galaxy at the speed of light. Millions of people twist, spin and toss the toy that has become a favorite accessory at work, home and school. For those who suddenly returned from a business trip from the forest, we explain: the spinner is the coolest anti-stress gadget for children and adults. The toy is made from the most various materials A: metal, plastic, wood and so on. In previous materials, the game portal Game2Day told, and.

However, despite the fact that spinner prices start at a few dollars, many users still search the Internet for how to make a spinner. with my own hands. Today we will tell you how to make a spinner yourself at home without unnecessary complicated stray. Let's start with a simple one: we will make a spinner from Cola caps and cardboard. And then we will try to complicate and make a spinner from a bicycle chain. Well, let's see what the human imagination is capable of.

What do you need to make a spinner? Prepare cardboard, paper with a pencil, a compass with a ruler, a few round bearings, a stationery and a simple knife, as well as a lot of glue: liquid, hot and super glue.

Making a spinner out of paper and cardboard

A hand spinner made of paper or cardboard is easy to do: create a drawing (four equal-sized circles with places for bearings), cut out the details from paper, and paste them on cardboard. Cut the holes for the bearings a little smaller so that the metal part fits snugly and does not pop out. And then just glue three circles together around one at regular intervals.

Wooden spinner

Do you own a jigsaw and a drill? Fine! You can make an eco-friendly and pleasant to the touch wooden spinner. There are a lot of drawings on the Internet, we download and print them on paper. We apply the workpiece to a wooden board, carefully circle it with a pencil and cut it out along the contour. It would be nice to sand the resulting toy with sandpaper and varnish or wood oil. You can even age the spinner with a lighter. Holes for bearings can be made with a drill (drill halfway, turn over and drill further). The thickness of the plank must match the thickness of the bearing.

Spinner made of plastic caps

Spinner can be made without bearings. We take 6 plastic covers (you can different color, will be more beautiful). In two covers we make small holes in the center. We glue them with a flat surface to each other, but so that the holes are not filled with glue. Fold three covers around the resulting figure, distributing them at the same distance. We glue them to our double cover on the sides at an equal height. Then we take a wooden stick and put it through the hole in the center. We cut it off, leaving 3-4 millimeters on both sides so that it sticks out a little from the lid. Fill the stick with glue, wait. Everything, you can twist! Your mom is an engineer!

Bearing spinner

We will need three bearings, one of which should be slightly smaller than the others. We pick off the protective liners from the small bearing with a knife and put them in a row so that the large ones are at the edges. We take three plastic clamps and tighten them around the future spinner. Strongly, so that you can lift the spinner by one of the clamps. We take two more clamps and tighten them across (on the sides of the small bearing). We cut the clamps and vzhuuh, magic!

A three-beam spinner will require seven bearings, a tube of superglue and hot glue, a wooden stick, acetone, salt (!!!), napkins and a clerical knife. We remove the protective liners from the four bearings and clean them of oil residues with acetone. Then we lay out all seven bearings on the table so that one is in the middle and the rest are around it (bearings without liners should go through one). We glue them with superglue to each other from above. We do NOT glue bearings with liners! As soon as the glue dries, remove the excess, and glue the spinner at the junction of the glands. Pour salt there to fill in the gaps and coat the spinner in a circle with hot glue. We are waiting for everything to harden and go to show off to friends.

What else can you make a spinner from?

Ohohohonyushki! Well, we have questions today. Spinner can be made from anything. Seriously. Even a Lamborghini can be made into a spinner. Would you like to see? You are welcome!

For tough men - a brutal bullet spinner. Melted and poured into a special form. You can walk around the area without fear. There is!

But this spinner is the exact opposite of the previous one. Do you want to make a toy out of Gummy bears? That way.

Young chemists started up ... Gallium spinner, how do you like that? It is said that this material literally melts in the hands. But one thing is clear, it is very fragile, but beautiful: it resembles silver. You can troll werewolves.

One of the most expensive spinner options is gold. What for? We don't know. Maybe someone has more than school medals. Or teeth inherited from a great-grandfather. In general, if you have nowhere to put one of the most expensive metals on the planet, make yourself such a spinner. Maybe the hammer will go even more expensive.

And these spinners are especially for boys and girls. Bright, colorful and completely safe. They are mainly made of cardboard, and the drawings can be downloaded from the description of the video. Offer to do this in the lessons of labor or needlework. Teachers will definitely like it, maybe they will even allow you to do tricks in the lesson

You can come up with just as many models for spinners, if not more. The main thing is that there is enough imagination and improvised tools. Good luck and let the curvature of your hands disappear for the time you spend on making new spinners. Surprise us with your options in the comments, happy spinning!

Do you want to buy a spinner, but it is not for sale in your city? We will tell you how to make a do-it-yourself spinner without a bearing! Recently, there has been an unusual a large number of newfangled toys. They are great for kids and adults alike, but sometimes finding a store that can sell you this new-fangled accessory is very difficult. Let's talk about spinners.

This toy entered the trend relatively recently and just flooded the Internet. It is impossible to buy it in some cities, as there are no retail stores, so you have to order it via the Internet.

But why spend money when you can do it yourself? Many are wondering how to make a spinner without using a bearing, today we will help you with this.

What is a spinner

The word "spin" is translated from English as "rotation". By and large, the toy is a rotating body that moves around its axis when energy is imparted to it. You can get a spinner without bearings, but it will not have the required rotation speed.

A standard spinner consists of three petals, in the center of each there is a bearing. It is worth noting that the mass of each petal must be the same, as well as the shape, otherwise there will be no balance and rotation will stop very quickly.

What's the catch?

In our free time, in anticipation of something, when we think, we always take something in our hands in order to somehow entertain or calm ourselves. For this you need ... a spinner. Of course, it cannot be called a child's toy, as it is an accessory for psychological and emotional relief.

How to make a do-it-yourself spinner

First, we will consider the main master classes, and later in the article we have prepared for you simple instructions manufacturing a spinner without a bearing!

Making such a toy is quite simple, you just need to thoroughly study the design and details of the spinner:

  • a housing that includes a bearing and a plug;
  • petals, in which bearings are also built;
  • additional plugs.

The most important part of the toy is the bearings, it is on them that the efficiency of rotation, the number of revolutions and much more depends. Plugs are needed to hide the working mechanism of the bearing and conveniently hold the spinner itself. The parts are very simple and easily made using improvised means.

Manufacturing process

First, consider the model with bearings. For this we need:

  • cardboard
  • 4 bearings
  • knife or scissors
  1. First, we draw a drawing of the future model of your spinner.
  2. We put the sketch on the cardboard and carefully cut along the edges.
  3. It is necessary to clearly highlight and mark the places for the bearings, for this, use a compass.
  4. Each petal should be symmetrical to the other.
  5. We cut out the holes for the moving elements with scissors and smooth them a little with sandpaper.
  6. They must be made in such a way that the bearing fits snugly into the hole.

Next, insert the bearings into the holes obtained and fill the edges with plenty of glue. In this case, it is best to use construction glue, which is used for gluing various decorated parts.

It must be applied carefully so that nothing gets into the bearing.

There is one well-known method, which will be discussed further.

wooden spinner

Making a wooden spinner is a more complicated option, but it is also the most reliable. Using a jigsaw and a special construction tool, you can make a housing into which, by analogy, you insert bearings and fix with glue. In each case, you can paint your spinner in the appropriate color.

  1. First, we select wood. It is best to use plywood, as it is the easiest to process. A sketch of the case can be found on the Internet, after which we transfer it to the workpiece. Using a jigsaw, we cut out the body.
  2. Next, you need to sand everything.
  3. Drill holes for bearings
  4. The thickness of the plywood must match the thickness of the bearing, otherwise nothing will work.

Spinner without bearings

Many people are wondering how to make a do-it-yourself spinner without a bearing and with minimal cost. The most common option will be presented next. The easiest and fastest way to make a spinner is from plastic bottle caps. This is a very simple way that no one knows about (except you).

For this we need:

  • three bottle caps of the same size and weight;
  • drill with a drill;
  • ball pen;
  • glue.

You need to do everything in a certain sequence:

  1. We glue the sides of the three covers. It turns out some kind of spinner without bearings.
  2. Next, in the central cover, we make a hole for the core of a ballpoint pen. In this case, the diameter of the drill and the rod must be the same.
  3. We cut off a few centimeters from the rod and insert it into the resulting hole.

So the easy way a spinner is made with their own hands, which can be rotated as much as you like without a bearing.

Making such a toy is very simple if you know or at least have an idea how the spinner works. In any case, you can always replace the covers with any other parts of the same shape and size. Everything is very simple.

Harm from using this accessory

Having figured out how to make a do-it-yourself spinner without a bearing, you can talk about the negative consequences of using it. You must strictly follow the safety precautions so as not to cause yourself any harm.

A factory-made spinner is completely safe, but the one you make yourself is not always. It is necessary to carefully process the surfaces, securely fasten the bearings and use it only for its intended purpose.

Do not leave children unsupervised!
