Secondly, more fabrics. The fabric can be used in upholstery, curtains, tapestries. They must be of those colors that Indonesian nature is so generous with - green, yellow, brown, beige. The interior allows for panels or patterns on the walls in wild, primitive style.

Thirdly, you need to choose interior accessories with metallic accents. Fixtures, lamps, and even furniture in gold or silver are perfect. In the same way, you can choose fabrics embroidered with gold threads - for bed linen and curtains.

Fourthly, there must be a wooden part in the room. It can be several boards on the ceiling, a niche, highlighted ceiling beams. wood color - chocolate, dark, or bamboo allowed. Bamboo screens and wooden floors, or wooden bed frames will fit very well into the Indonesian interior.

And finally, make sure that the curtains are translucent, since in Indonesia it is customary for the outer space of the surrounding world to merge with the space of the house.

Indonesia is a supportive and accommodating country: already at the airport they will hang a wreath of plumeria around your neck, in the Monkey Forest a monkey will try to steal shale, and fluffy civets will make sure that you taste luwak. In a restaurant, a parrot or even two will definitely join the conversation, and meanwhile the air will intoxicate you with all this island freedom, peace of mind and aromas coming from Buddhist temples.

The hotel in Bali will hospitably accept wide sofas with large pillows on wooden base, screens, chests of drawers, chests with carved patterns, mirrors with frames from local solid wood or mother-of-pearl mosaics - all this is the Indonesian style in the interior. In the souvenir shop, every tourist will turn mother-of-pearl soap dishes, dishes and caskets in their hands, some will even buy something home as a memory of this paradise.

Flashes of pleasant memories can be extended if you place an object in the Indonesian style in your interior. Our today's master class is just about how to make a mother-of-pearl mosaic mirror frame with your own hands.

You will need:

  • mirror;
  • mother-of-pearl mosaic on the grid;
  • imitation of timber (board 11 cm);
  • saw;
  • screws and screwdriver;
  • glue for polyurethane;
  • grout for tiles;
  • small spatula;
  • small boards or iron corners;
  • thick "marine" rope.

Step 1

First of all, you need to build a frame. We described in detail how to do this. The only difference is that the last time the mirror sheet was smaller and thinner, and ordinary lining was quite suitable for the frame. Today's mirror has a large area and, moreover, is much thicker - it does not fit into the grooves that the lining has, so I had to use a more powerful eleven-centimeter board - an imitation of a beam.

You can connect the frame at the back with small wooden boards. It is also more convenient because you can use longer screws - with such an additional layer, they definitely will not go through.

Step 2

After the mirror has already turned out to be tightly planted in the frame, you can start decorating it. I chose a mosaic tile, which is sold in square grids, it is very convenient. The next step is to cut the mesh into segments that can evenly cover the area of the frame.

Step 3

The mosaic I have chosen is a full-fledged tile, they lay out bathrooms, pools, etc., so we use traditional way"adjusting" it to the surface. However, in this case, you will have to lay tiles on a tree - this is not a typical case. Oddly enough, polyurethane glue will help out here, which is ideal for such work. We apply glue in small drops to each tile, turn the grid over and fit the mosaic.

Step 4

The mosaic is already on the frame - the polyurethane adhesive sets almost instantly. Time to cover up traces, or rather, rub the seams with special mix, diluting it in accordance with the instructions.

Step 5

The photo shows that the boards have a small step at the edges, which is designed so that they cling to each other. Putting a mosaic on this ledge, unfortunately, is inconvenient, so you need to decorate it. This can be done using a thick "marine" rope, which can be glued using the same glue for polyurethane or any superglue.

Particular attention in the design of the interior in the Indonesian style should be given flooring. Usually the floors are covered with red dark wood, but in the absence of such, preference can be given and light colors. The same picture is with furniture items. Black and dark shades are welcome here, although a calmer and softer finish is also acceptable.

To fully convey the mood of the chosen stylization, it is worth using only natural materials. The ceiling and floor are traditionally finished with wood. The ideal option mahogany is considered, but beech, oak and ash wood are also popular. Wood is also preferred when choosing furniture, but to convey national characteristics style can also be done with wicker tables and chairs made of cane or bamboo.

The textiles of tablecloths, curtains, pillows, bedspreads can be very diverse, but it must necessarily reflect the ethnic character of the decor. So, the selected materials should be decorated with national patterns and ornaments. Huge windows, characteristic of the Indonesian style of interior design, can be decorated with blinds and organza at the same time. And the heating radiators, traditional for our area, located under the windowsill, must be covered with special panels.
