Vaporesso Gemini RTA

The Vaporesso Gemini is a new tank that goes toe-to-toe with the popular Geekvape Griffin tank. He's like Griffin's appearance and easily bypasses most of the previous generation tanks. It has all the features that are now the standard for tanks. On a spacious base, two spirals are easily installed.

The efficiency of Vaporesso Gemini is high. It's meant more for flavor than clouds, but for a mid-capacity sub-ohm tank, clouds are pretty decent too. The reviews mention that ideal option for a simple winding of two spirals are 50 watts. But, like all tanks, the efficiency largely depends on the winding, on the wick, and it is quite possible that the capacity of this tank lies far beyond 50 watts.

So many new and impressive tanks have been released this year that the Gemini may not be at the top of the list. However, this is very good tank deserving positive feedback.

Kayfun tanks have been popular among vapers for several years, and the new Kayfun v5 continues the good tradition. It has fewer moving parts than the fourth version, making it easier to disassemble, clean and repair. The base has been enlarged to fit clapton coils and other large coils. The blower hole under the coils has also increased a lot, now it is 3.2 in diameter and is great for a cigarette puff. The tank has a diameter of 22 mm. Coil tails are clamped by bolt heads, as in all previous versions. From the previous version, both the top refill and constant access to the base without the need to empty the e-liquid tank have been preserved, but the Kayfun v5 has larger e-liquid holes, in case the vaper uses a thicker e-liquid. The installation of the wick looks the same as in the fourth version and is very simple.

The blower is externally adjustable, four options are available: 1.8 mm, 2.2 mm, 2.7 mm and 3.2 mm. For those who want to reduce the size of the airflow hole under the coils, a special part is also available that will allow them to adjust the puff options. Any Kayfun tanks have always been appreciated by their owners for their outstanding flavor transfer, and the fifth version is no exception.

Introduction to RTA

There are three types of serviceable atomizers: RTA (serviceable tanks), RDA (serviceable drips) and genesis. Sometimes there is also a fourth category - RDTA, serviced drip tanks, but in this article we will equate them to ordinary tanks. All three types use a coil or coils, which are made by the vaper himself, winding the wire around a thin wire, 2-4 mm in diameter, and it is also the vaper who sometimes prepares the wick, through which the liquid enters the coils.

To create coils, vapers use the most different materials. Due to its stable resistance when heated, Kanthal A1 is suitable for use in vari-watt mode on all box mods. Other types of wire must be used in temperature controlled box mods, as their resistance varies greatly. These are, for example, nickel (Ni200) and titanium. Stainless steel, whose resistance changes little, can be used in any type of mod.

What is RTA?

How does a serviced tank differ from other types of atomizers? They usually have bases on the bottom where the vaper places the coils while the e-liquid tank is mounted above it. Depending on the size of the tank, it can hold from 2 to 10 ml of liquid. The base is surrounded by a camera. Air enters the base from below or next to the coils and rises through the chamber to the drip tip. Side-fan tanks are often referred to as RDTAs, drip tanks. Many tanks released recently also have top airflow, in which the air first descends to the coils outside the chamber, and then rises through it to the drip tip. The bases are provided with slots or holes that allow the liquid to rise through the wick (or wicks) towards the coil.

Drips differ from tanks in that they have a small liquid tray, respectively, containing a smaller volume of it. Spirals are also placed at the bottom of the atomizer, and the wicks are lowered into the recharge bath. Drips do not have a chamber, since the liquid is in any case below the spirals. Instead, they have a top cap mounted on top of the base. Air enters through the bottom, top or side vents and rises from the top cap to the drip tip.

Genesis type atomizers look like a combination of drips and tanks. They have tanks like the RTA, but they are located at the bottom of the atomizer, under the base, so they function like a very deep tub. A rolled stainless steel mesh acts as a wick, through which the liquid enters the spirals. Also, Genesis, like drip, has a top cap, and the air rises from it to the drip type in the same way. Many current popular atomizers are some kind of hybrid genesis due to the location of the tank under the base, but they use cotton wicks. Some of these hybrids are referred to as drip tanks.

The advantage of serviced tanks over other atomizers

Tanks have certain advantages over drips, maintenance-free tanks and genesis. Before maintenance-free tanks, it is that the vaper does not need to buy factory coils, they can be wound on their own and save a lot on it. A whole coil of wire, which is enough for a handful of spirals, is approximately equal in price to one or two factory ones. And, finally, this coil will last for months and years, you will not be left without winding at the most inopportune moment. Similarly, a pack of natural wick cotton will last for months, years, or even decades. In addition, maintenance free tank users should hope that the firm will still produce coils to fit their tanks, conventional tank users are protected from this.

Tanks bypass RDAs on two counts at once. First, it is the volume of the contained liquid. RDA users must constantly drip liquid. Vapers must carry a container of e-liquid with them at all times, which can be dangerous if they are vaping and driving at the same time. Tanks, with their large volume, are enough for a long time (sometimes for a whole day). Secondly, the tank will not leak if it accidentally turns out to be standing not vertically. And since there is no chamber in the drips, the liquid can simply flow out in all directions at once.

Many vapers find that tanks are much more convenient than genesis vapes when it comes to installing coils and wicks. This is because in genesis you have to take care of the correct oxidation of the grid and determine the hot spots where the grid will come into contact with the helix. In addition, genesis tends to leak, just like RDAs.

Here are some simple tips for tank vapers. Make sure the coil covers the duct opening, especially on bottom blown atomizers. Coils that are too short allow the wick to drip liquid into the airflow holes, leading to gurgling and leaks. Leakage can be prevented by making sure that the liquid does not drip freely onto the base past the tails of the wicks. These tails should optimally block the liquid openings. On the other hand, if the tank starts to vape dry, it means that the vaper went too far with blocking and prevented the liquid from flowing. The key to successful vaping here is balance. Many modern tanks allow the vaper to reach the base at any time to reinstall the wick, and they are highly recommended for beginners and non-winders. And lastly, make sure you don't overfill the tank. Leave some air in there - this will allow the liquid to flow smoothly to the wicks and replace the evaporated liquid with air.

Today I got a tank for one coil Vapefly Horus RTA. The Vapefly company appeared on the market not so long ago, but has already managed to show itself well, thanks to the successfully obtained Galaxies cigarette box.

Horus RTA has chosen a different path and, in fact, should be the heir to such well-known atomizers as Zeus and Ammit. Let's take a closer look and see what happened in the end?

Packaging and equipment

The Vapefly Horus RTA atomizer comes in a box with all the necessary information printed on it. On the front side located the name of the device and the company logo, which are, as it were, on top of the picture of the tank itself.

On the back there is a code for checking originality, certificates, equipment and Contact Information to contact the manufacturer.

Inside, we are greeted by a very rich equipment, thanks to which we can run the device right out of the box. Separately, I would like to note a micro-fiber cloth, which is not clear why it is needed here, because the device is declared as a non-spill.

It is also not entirely clear why the manufacturer did not combine the hexagon with an alien screwdriver, but put it separately. But basically, it's all bullshit.

Appearance and parameters

I got a black atomizer with a bright orange drip tip for review. Options are also available in gray, steel and the so-called gold colors.

The painting is done qualitatively and will not peel over time. There are no decorative elements on the outer part of the case. Decorative element is located inside the flask itself and is made in the form of one of the eyes of the god Horus.

The tank itself turned out to be quite bulky and has a diameter of 25 mm. If you are critical of overhangs, then under it it is better to use mods with a central location of the connector.

On the reverse side, there is a well-protruding, adjustable gold-plated pin, thanks to which, if desired, you can use the tank even on a mechanical mod.

Design features

To begin with, it is worth paying attention to the quality of manufactured parts, which is at a very high level here. Everything is perfectly fitted to each other, there are no backlashes and creaks.

On all moving parts there are notches for more convenient use of the device. By default, a bright drip-type of the standard 810 format is installed in the atomizer, which allows you to replace it with your own. Also included is an adapter for the 510th drip-type.

The upper part of the atomizer consists of a cover, under which there are two filling holes and airflow adjustment rings. The lid is attached to the base on a conventional thread and has notches for more convenient use.

Inside the lid is a silicone ring that prevents leakage when twisting. Filling holes are wide, so there are no problems with filling here.

The airflow system in the tank is the most important of its chips, and the first thing it starts with is the air intake holes located on top. Their adjustment is carried out by turning the ring. This design completely eliminates leaks, which is definitely a huge plus.

One of the main features of this atomizer is the air supply shaft. Inside the dome, which freely rotates around the shaft, there is a plate with several types of holes, passing through which the air creates the so-called effect of volumetric blowing of the spiral.

Such a system has a very positive effect on taste. The spherical processing of the dome is completely absent here due to the non-standard design of the dome. Pyrex-glass is attached using an ordinary thread located on the frame.

The base in the Vapefly Horus RTA is quite standard and is designed to install a single coil. A wide central airflow hole, coupled with massive racks, allows even very massive spirals to be installed here.

The fixing screws are made with high quality and will not lick off over time. The base is fixed to the dome by means of a thread located on the frame. A separate plus is that it simply won’t work to install the base incorrectly and there are no problems with getting into the notches as in the same Zeus.

Installing spirals and stacking cotton

Installing spirals with a certain skill will not cause any problems at all. Essentially, you simply install the legs of the coils into the grooves, press them down with screws, and then align the coil over the duct opening.

It is important that the spiral is located exactly in the center. This will allow you to get the maximum flavor. Cotton wool fits quite simply. It is enough to lay it exactly in the grooves and gently straighten it, not ramming too hard.

According to personal feelings, the racks turned out to be very comfortable.

Conclusion

At first, I was skeptical about the Vapefly Horus RTA, but after spending some time with it, I can safely say that I liked the tank.

The first thing you want to pay attention to is, of course, the quality of the workmanship of the parts. The paint does not peel off over time, and all the elements fit perfectly to each other.

The second is, of course, a volume of 4 ml, which allows you to get good autonomy, and convenient racks will allow even a beginner to use the tank without any problems.

As a separate plus, I would like to highlight the design of the non-spill, which is great for everyday use of the atomizer.

The disadvantages include a slightly less bright taste compared to the same Zeus and other similar single-coil tanks. As a result, we get an excellent everyday tank at a very affordable price, which will definitely find its fans.

Consider the tank in more detail and start from the top.

The 510 drip tip is made of Delrin and metal and is supported by two o-rings. Due to the fact that the base is made of Delrin, it does not get very hot. I'm out of the habit of 510 drip types and prefer to use wider ones, so I installed this one ... like Petri.

Convenient top filling, which is reminiscent of solutions from SMOK. The lid leans to the side, and we see two holes for filling and air outlet. During the entire period of use, there were no accidental discoveries. Bachelor Nano holds 2 ml of e-liquid. Yes... the volume is not large, but what to expect from a tank with a NANO prefix. Although I must admit that the device is not the smallest in size, the same Serpent mini will be more compact, and our “bachelor” will have more weight.

Without a rack-mount base for one spiral, it allows you to install windings with a sufficiently large number of turns, the recommended diameter of the frame is 3 mm. You can install Clapton 0.4 + 0.2 mm, but 0.5 + 0.2 will not fit. Servicing the tank is very simple, you just need to guess the length of the legs of the spiral. We insert it into two holes in the base and tighten the screws. We burn the spiral, insert cotton wool, cut off the excess and everything ... is ready.

There is the possibility of adjusting the flow of fluid and blowing. The blower adjustment ring rotates smoothly and has a stopper. In general, the quality of materials and assembly is good and does not raise any complaints.

The Bachelor Nano has a medium draw, delivers good flavor and delivers enough vapor for a single coil tank.

Results

All in all, the Bachelor Nano RTA is a good single coil tank to recommend. Personally, I actively use it with the Eleaf Pico 75W box mod, especially in the warm season, when there is no desire to carry large and heavy devices with me.
