Repair and maintenance

Repairing a gas boiler with your own hands is an extremely dangerous business. In order to repair a gas boiler with high quality and with a guarantee, general knowledge and ingenuity are not enough. Any work on start-up, adjustment, disassembly, replacement of spare parts for heating gas boilers should be carried out only by specialists with the appropriate qualifications and preferably trained in this type of boilers.

Installation and maintenance of a double-circuit gas boiler Ferroli Diva

Double-circuit gas Ferroli boilers Diva F24/C24 are designed for heating and hot water supply. Versions with open and closed combustion chamber.

The heat exchanger of the heating circuit is made of copper, coated with a heat-resistant aluminum-based composition for long service life and against corrosion. The heat exchanger of the DHW circuit is made of stainless steel and allows for a high rate of water heating.

Location of the Ferroli Diva F24/C24 boiler

The combustion chamber of the device is hermetically isolated from the environment, which allows you to install the boiler in any room. However, the room in which the boiler is installed must have sufficient ventilation to prevent dangerous situations in the event of even small gas leaks.

This safety standard is mandatory for all types of gas-fired equipment, including devices with a so-called sealed chamber.

According to the standard, the unit can be operated in a partially protected area at an ambient temperature of at least -5°C.

It is recommended to install the boiler under a roof slope, on a balcony or in a niche sheltered from the weather. In any case, the installation site must be free of dust, flammable objects and materials, or corrosive gases.

The Ferroli Diva gas boiler is designed for hanging on the wall and is supplied complete with a hanging bracket. Fasten the bracket to the wall following the dimensions shown in the illustration on the cover of the manual and hang the boiler on it.

By special order, a metal template can be supplied to mark on the wall the points of enlightenment of the fixing holes. When mounted on a wall, the boiler must be firmly and securely fastened.

If the appliance is installed among furniture or sideways to a wall, it is necessary to provide free space needed to remove the cover and perform normal maintenance work.

Hydraulic connections

The drain hole of the safety valve must be connected to a funnel or drain pipe to prevent water from spilling onto the floor in the event of an increase in pressure in the heating circuit. Otherwise, the boiler manufacturer will not bear any responsibility for the flooding of the room when the safety valve is activated.

Before starting to connect the Ferroli Diva F24/C24 boiler to the gas supply system, make sure that the boiler is set up to operate on the type of gas available and carefully clean all the pipes of the system Make connections to the appropriate fittings according to the drawing on and in accordance with the symbols available on the unit itself .

In case the hardness of the water exceeds 5°, the water used must be properly treated to prevent the formation of scale in the boiler.

Freeze protection system, antifreeze liquids, additives and inhibitors

The use of liquid antifreezes, additives and inhibitors is permitted, if necessary, only and exclusively if their manufacturer gives a guarantee confirming that their products are suitable for this type of use and will not harm the boiler heat exchanger and other components and / or materials used in the construction of the boiler and system .

It is forbidden to use liquid antifreezes, additives and inhibitors that are not specifically designed for use in thermal installations and are incompatible with the materials used in the construction of the boiler and heating system.

Connection of the Ferroli Diva F24 / C24 boiler to the gas pipeline

The gas line must be connected to a suitable point, in compliance with current regulations, using a rigid metal pipe or seamless flexible stainless steel hose.

A gas valve must be installed between the gas main and the boiler. Check the tightness of all gas connections.

Electrical connections

The device must be connected to reliable system earthing, made in accordance with current safety standards.

The effectiveness of the earth loop and its compliance with the regulations must be checked by qualified personnel. The manufacturer does not bear any responsibility for damage that may be caused by the lack of grounding of the apparatus.

The internal electrical connections in the Ferroli Diva F 24 boiler have already been made; it is also equipped with a "Y" type power cord without a plug.

Connection to electrical network must be made in the form of a fixed connection, equipped with a two-pole switch with a distance between contacts of at least 3 mm.

In the area between the boiler and the power supply, fuses for a current of not more than 3 A. When performing electrical connections polarity is very important (LIVE: brown wire / NEUTRAL: blue wire / GND: green/yellow wire.

The user is not allowed to replace the power cable by himself. In case of replacement of the electrical cable, use exclusively a 3x0.75 mm2 cable with an outer diameter of 8 mm or less.

Before proceeding with the installation of the Ferroli Diva gas boiler, check that the diaphragm used is correct and that the maximum allowable length using a simple calculation for this:

Finalize the layout of the split ductwork, including accessories and outlet tips.

Determine the loss in meq (equivalent meters) on each component depending on its location.

Check that the total resistance value is less than or equal to the maximum allowable value.

If it is required to connect the boiler to a collective chimney or to a separate natural draft chimney, such chimneys must be designed by a professional specialist in compliance with the requirements current legislation and must be designed to work with units with a closed combustion chamber and a fan.

In particular, such chimneys must have the following characteristics:

Have dimensions calculated in accordance with current standards.

Ensure tightness and no leakage combustion products, be resistant to the effects of combustion products and temperature, be impervious to condensate.

Have a round or square section, be laid vertically and have no bottlenecks.

Have chimneys that ensure the removal of hot products of combustion to the required distance from flammable materials or their isolation from them.

Be connected to no more than one unit on each floor.

Be connected to only one type of unit (all must be either forced draft or natural draft).

Not to have mechanical means suction in the main air ducts.

Have a vacuum along the entire length in stationary operation.

Have a chamber at its base for collecting solid residues or condensate, equipped with a hermetically sealed metal inspection hatch.
