In the life of Larisa Ivshina - anniversary date. When I became a third-year student, from which the specialization began, I was given a topic thesis. I started working on it with newspapers, studied the Odessa Bulletin, number by number for several decades, and then I realized how informative the newspaper is as a historical source.
The Day does not differ from other newspapers in terms of information content. But next to the fixation of the present, he prints analytics, which is not for everyone. His analytical materials are used by news agencies of the world because they help to understand Ukraine.
I have heard from friends more than once: I no longer read this newspaper, it has changed its direction! Unfortunately, we are used to the fact that all the media, like soldiers, lined up near their barricade. The Day gives everyone the opportunity to speak. It also gives you the opportunity to respond to a speech that you did not like - sometimes with only two lines. And in the Internet version, everyone gets a place for comments.
Although not everyone likes the newspaper's desire to rise above political passions, it most of all corresponds to the idea of consolidating society. The Day also has its own barricade: it defends the independence of its country, its course towards Europe, and universal human values. In political struggle recent years one of the first places was the problem of historical memory. And the newspaper from the beginning of its existence determined national history one of the main topics to be covered.
The Day is constantly experimenting, changing headings, and the Internet version is becoming more user-friendly each time. Photos are actively used. From the need to find material for illustration, The Day's photo contest was born. It is published in three languages and presented on the Internet.
The Den newspaper is a kind of intellectual corporation that not only reflects the events in Ukraine, but also seeks to influence them. I am convinced that scientists of the next century, who will study the time of the birth of independent Ukraine, will pay special attention to the newspaper The Day as a historical source.
