History of Pitsunda

The ancient people located their first settlements in the 4th century BC, then the ancient city was founded. It was from this moment that the further development of Pitsunda began. One of the main advantages was the port, thanks to which the city had a high value.

This city long time was the center of Christianity and gathered a large number of pilgrims. It is here that the graves of St. John Chrysostom, who could not reach the city and died on the way.

Pitsunda was part of the Abkhaz state and at one time was subordinate to the Ottoman Empire. To Russian Empire the city, together with Abkhazia, joined in the 19th century.

Geographical position

Thanks to the Caucasus Range, on the one hand, and the Black Sea, on the other, Pitsunda resembles subtropics. Hot, windless summer goes well with high humidity. The mountains do not allow gusts of wind to rage in this area, so rains here are quite rare.

Thanks to the pine grove, which has several tens of thousands of trees, a special microclimate is maintained, which distinguishes such a resort as Pitsunda. Abkhazia is rich in vegetation, which attracts vacationers to its lands.

The sea in these places is unusually clean and calm. Due to the incredibly large number of days a year saturated with sun, the water allows you to swim in it almost from April. At the height of summer, the sea temperature reaches +26C, which allows you to enjoy beneficial procedures. The end of the swimming season falls at the end of October, when the sun indulges with its outgoing warmth.

Winter in the city of Pitsunda in Abkhazia is famous for its mild disposition and makes it easy to wait for spring. The temperature does not fall below -5C, which favorably affects the local vegetation.

Thus, Abkhazia, mountains. Pitsunda, among other things, is a favorable place for recreation at any time of the year.

Population of Pitsunda

Initially, in Pitsunda, the bulk of the population were Russians, then Georgians, Abkhazians, Armenians and other peoples began to replenish the city. In the late 80s, a little more than 10 thousand people lived in the city, half of which were Russians.

The hostilities in the early 90s did not go unnoticed by the residents of the resort. The population has almost halved. The bulk of those who left their homes were Georgians and Russians. It was one of the hardest times for the locals, the popularity of their hometown declined, the flow of tourists dropped sharply.

In 2011, a population census was conducted, which showed that the number of inhabitants of Pitsunda became more than 4 thousand people and most of them are Abkhazians. Left a small amount of Russians, Georgians and Ukrainians.

The locals are distinguished by Caucasian hospitality and speak mostly Russian. They all love their city and with trepidation tell epics and describe the events that took place in their native land.

Due to the special microclimate, which was formed in a combination of many trees, mountains and the sea, the rest in the resort is unusual. Pitsunda offers the most different kind with lots of entertainment.

Despite the fact that the city itself is small, there are a lot of people who want to visit it. The administration and local residents annually improve the places of rest, increase the level of comfort, so the rest in Pitsunda 2020 will be of a sufficiently high level.

At one time, the interest in local attractions among visitors decreased, all because of the turbulent political situation. But now the city is flourishing and a large number of tourists visit it every year.

People are attracted by the unique local flavor. Here you can visit mountains, nature reserves, relax on the sea and climb into the gorge. You can make your holiday quite diverse if you wish.

What is the best time to rest

Due to the purest water and the sea temperature, reaching almost +27C, this is a great place to relax with small children. A chic promenade and a clean beach allow you to relax and enjoy all the beauties of the resort. The local air will be useful for the child, and the warm sea and the sun will be a great way to strengthen the immune system.

The beach season in this place is quite long, so everyone can choose a time convenient for him. Fans of the hot sun, noisy cafes and new acquaintances will feel great in the height of summer, in July-August. These are the peak months of the influx of tourists and vacationers. Discos, live music, rides and a lot of entertainment will be available to any vacationer.

If preference is given to the soft rays of the sun, tranquility and the opportunity to be alone, then better holiday in Pitsunda, as from mid-September, not to be found. At this time, young people and families with children leave and those who prefer a quiet holiday remain. In these places, you can often meet elderly people walking leisurely along the local streets. For them, this is a great opportunity to improve their health. After all, it is not in vain that a large number of boarding houses and rest houses are located in Pitsunda.

Everyone chooses for himself what kind of vacation he likes. It is enough for someone to lie on the shore, swim in the sea and stay nearby. Someone prefers excursions, visiting new places, getting to know local attractions. All this can be found by visiting Pitsunda. It is in this place that an active holiday is combined with a leisurely pastime.

The best places to stay

In the heat, you can go to the reserve, where relict pines grow. It is they who create a special flavor of the area. Those who rested in Pitsunda felt the impact the purest air saturated with coniferous aromas.

The sea always has a favorable effect on any person. There is no such composition of trace elements anywhere else, so it is very useful to swim in clear waters. Due to the fact that the resort is located in a bay, the sea is always calm and clean.

In addition to beautiful places, Pitsunda pleases its guests with low prices. Even those who decide to allocate quite a bit of money for the trip will have a great rest in Pitsunda.

For recreation, you can choose accommodation on the very shore, and for those who like to walk and be in silence, quite a lot of offers can be found on the outskirts of the city.

Attractions

There are a lot of places in Pitsunda where you can plunge headlong into the past era. Abkhazia is very famous for its architectural sights. What is the temple built in Pitsunda in the 10th century. Of course, its walls are under the power of time, there are some destructions, but the significance of this place will never go away.

One of the places that you should definitely visit while in Abkhazia is Lake Ritsa. It strikes with its beauty, its waters are surrounded by dense forests, and the dark, deep bowels are rather mysterious. Stalin's dacha is located on this lake.

The city is surrounded by various caves, gorges, mountain rivers and dolmens.

Of the historical monuments, I would like to highlight the cathedral, built in honor of the Apostle Andrew the First-Called. On the territory of New Athos is the Simono-Kananitsky Monastery. Having a great time will help excursions to such majestic places.

Pitsunda is famous for its sculptures, the main of which are "Divers", "Stone Girl" and sculpture of Medea. They are located on the embankment and everyone can take a photo for memory.

Entertainment

The most favorite places of rest for many visitors are various attractions. In Pitsunda, on the beach itself, there are attractions for every taste.

For lovers of local cuisine, there are many small cafes in the city that fully convey traditions and specialties Abkhazia. In addition to cafes, Pitsunda has restaurants for every taste. Here you can sit with a friendly company or spend a romantic evening on the beach.

Fans of outdoor activities will find entertainment to their liking in the form of horseback riding. On the waterfront, catamarans, jet skis, hang gliders and many other entertainments are offered for rent.

As an extreme recreation, you can choose jeeping in the outskirts of Pitsunda. Tourists will see waterfalls, lakes, meadows of incredible beauty and mineral springs.

How to get to Pitsunda

The city is located in the Caucasus, in its northwestern part. The nearest airport is located in Sochi, where private taxis, minibuses and buses are constantly operating.

There is no direct train to Pitsunda, you can get to Adler, Gagra or New Athos. These are the nearest train stations from the resort. Shuttle taxis depart from each station and go directly to the city.

You can also take an electric train in Adler, which follows to Sukhum, and from there, of your choice, a taxi or a minibus.

If the trip is made by a private car, then you need to follow to Sochi, then drive to Adler, and there, after 20 minutes there will be a border. After checking the documents at the post, you can go to the place of rest.

More recently, a sea route has become possible. In this case, passengers board a high-speed catamaran in Sochi, or in Adler, and follow the sea to Pitsunda. In this case, customs clearance is carried out on board the catamaran. Travel time from Sochi is approximately 1.5 hours.

Border crossing

It should be noted that when traveling to the resort, you will have to cross the border and go through customs. It does not take much time. From the documents it is necessary to present only a passport, if the trip is made by a private car, then it is also inspected.

Minibuses and taxis from Adler or Sochi follow to the border point. After checking the documents, you can choose suitable look transport and reach the final destination.

If railway transport is chosen, then the customs inspection is carried out directly in the car. This is quite convenient, you do not have to wait in line at the post.

Travel from the border to the resort

In order to choose the right transport, there is no need to search for a parking lot. Minibuses and buses stop immediately on the Abkhazian side of the border. If you go by minibus, then the trip will take about an hour. By bus, the travel time will be longer and will be approximately 1.5 hours. The advantage of the bus is that it departs strictly on schedule, and the minibus will wait until all the seats are occupied. For those who do not like to wait, there is always a private taxi service. On this transport you can reach Pitsunda within half an hour.

Thus, everyone chooses for himself the type of transport that will be more comfortable or more familiar.

Pitsunda is well-deservedly popular with tourists who want to try out the local flavor of Abkhazia, or the "Country of the Soul", as the locals also call it. This resort is suitable for a holiday with a child, as here the sea air is combined with the aroma of relic pines.

Ksenia and her family visited Pitsunda in 20178. The resort was chosen because of the wide coastline, and also because fewer tourists rest here than, for example, in Gagra, and therefore spending time with a child is more comfortable. How the "Country of the Soul" looks like from the inside through the eyes of a young family will be described in this article.

  1. By car. The distance from Moscow to Pitsunda is about 1600 km. The car route runs through Voronezh, Rostov, Krasnodar (average travel time - 20 hours). Crossing the borders can take 30 minutes or longer, depending on the queues. After the Abkhaz customs to the resort - go 30-40 minutes. .
  2. By train. You can also get to the republic from Russia by train (Moscow - Sukhum). The price of a reserved seat is from 3500 rubles, a coupe - from 6000 rubles. On the road - more than 40 hours. The train goes through Gagra, from where you can get to Pitsunda by minibus (from 50 rubles per person).
  3. From Adler by taxi. The distance to the resort is about 60 km. The cost of the trip - from 3500 rubles. Taking into account the passage of customs, the average travel time is about 1 hour.
  4. From Adler by bus. Ply mainly Mercedes Sprinter. The fare is within 700 rubles, the bus journey takes 3.5 hours.

Information for motorists. Central roads are in good condition: markings, signs, signs are present. Traffic policemen, too. Restricted signs are common speed limit. Remember that on the roads here you can often see cows sleeping peacefully on the roadway.

Weather: when you can swim

The swimming season in Pitsunda starts in May and ends in the first half of October. AT winter time about 30% of recreation centers and guest houses continue to operate in the resort. It rarely snows here in winter. More often the low season is associated with increased wind and rain.

The approximate temperature of air and water in Pitsunda is presented in the table.

The most comfortable months for rest are June and September. Sunbathing on the beaches here can be taken almost all year round.

Because Our vacation fell in August, faced with sweltering heat at noon. From 12 to 15 we did not leave the room: strong heat, for a child - very uncomfortable. There was no rain for 2 weeks of rest (locals say that in autumn there are often floods due to heavy rainfall).

Accommodation: where to stay

Rest in Pitsunda involves the following types of accommodation:

  • in guest houses of different levels (from fairly modest offers to luxury options) - from 500 rubles. per person; rooms for 2-3 people are more often offered - the price in the high season is 2500-3500 rubles / day;
  • in boarding houses (old buildings of the Soviet type): from 25,000 rubles. for a 7-day stay;
  • private sector (most a budget option, accommodation in houses for several owners, apartments) - from 300 rubles / person;
  • in campsites and car campsites (a fairly common occurrence on the coast) - from 100 rubles / day.

We lived in a small guest house on the street. Gochua. I liked the option with a fresh renovation, good furniture, a fully equipped kitchen. The rooms were located on the second floor of the house, the first one was a garage for cars (because they were on their own car, this choice saved money on parking and nerves for the driver - the car was always under supervision, in the shade). The cost of a double room in August was 2000 rubles. per day.

The early booking system in Abkhazia practically does not work. Travel agents recommend not paying in advance for accommodation. It makes sense, having chosen a place of residence, to agree on payment upon arrival. On the net you can find many stories about how tourists are deceived by offering paid reservations.

In fact, finding accommodation in Pitsunda for every taste and budget is not so difficult: travel agent tents are located in crowded places. On the spot, you can explore the available options, immediately inspect them and move in. Boarding houses sell vouchers through a network of travel agencies.

Food: cafes and groceries

The resort has many summer cafes offering breakfasts, set lunches, dinners at a fixed price and a menu. There are no large supermarkets, but there are small mini-markets with a basic range of products (including milk, dairy products, vegetables, meat). In the Cypress Alley area, there is an excellent shop with fresh pastries (buns, sausages in dough, pizzas, boats, etc.).

There is also a barbecue pavilion. They cook very tasty and fast enough, the menu includes pork kebab (100 rubles per 100 g), lamb (200 rubles per 100 g), chicken (80 rubles per 100 g), grilled mushrooms, vegetables, they sell ready-made Abkhazian sauces - from 50 rubles.

In general, the cuisine is maximally adapted for Russians. There are not so many national dishes, but classic Russian dishes are served in every establishment.

We dined in a small cafe on the way to the beach (if memory serves - "Ship"). It is convenient that the menu provides for children's portions. The average check for lunch for two adults and a child is 500 rubles. On the central embankment there is a large dining room with affordable prices. Of the minuses - the queue.

As for drinks, I highly recommend trying feijoa compote (30 rubles - a glass, 100 rubles - 0.5 l). It is sold in canned form, for bottling, offered in any cafe. An excellent refreshing drink with a delicate taste. Good kvass. In the markets, you can buy cheap unpeeled hazelnuts (net - about 500 rubles). On the beach you can try honey rings, wear corn, berries, fish.

Beach

Excellent wide coastline. The entrance is gentle, pebbles. Pine trees descend to the beach - stunning views. The central beach, near the promenade, is equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas. Further - wild (but clean), where there are much fewer people, and therefore it is more pleasant to relax. Locals come to the remote parts of the beach on weekends to swim.

From entertainment - a standard set: a banana (250 rubles), a "tablet" - a disc for riding two people, a jet ski, inflatable slides. On the embankment - pilling with fish (10 min. - 250 rubles), trampolines for children, game shooting galleries.

Children

Pitsunda is a rather calm resort. After 11 pm it is already quiet here, the music is turned down in the cafe, so it is great for families with children. There are entertainment for children (slides, rental cars, trampolines), a dolphinarium.

During the rest, I had to look for a pediatrician (the office is located on the way to the embankment from right side, behind the showroom). They didn’t take money for receiving: the hospital is state-owned, officially - medicine is free, drugs are bought at their own expense. All medicines can be easily found in pharmacies.

Leisure in the city

  1. The main leisure in Pitsunda is the beach. You can walk along the embankment. In the evening, there are small entertainment programs.
  2. There is a cinema, a dolphinarium. The place of concentration of most entertainment establishments is the Embankment. Entrance to this zone is paid (for those who do not live in hotels and boarding houses located in the district) - 50 rubles / person. Access from the beach is free.
  3. During the day, it is worth visiting the local market, where the assortment includes Abkhazian cheeses, nuts, spices, and wines. In the evening (after 17:00) you can buy discounted products here.
  4. Adults and children are offered horseback riding, jeep safari. Bicycle rental is popular (about 200 rubles per hour).
  5. Fans of historical places will be interested in an excursion to the Khetsuriani Museum, to the lighthouse (today it is not used for its intended purpose, it is a symbol of the resort).

Field trips

Lake Ritsa is a mountain lake, on the way to which you can see beautiful waterfalls, mountain gorges, valleys. The lake is a national reserve, the entrance fee (official) is about 200 rubles. from a person.

They went to Ritsu on their own by car. Jeep tours are popular here - old, but frisky. Along the way, beautiful views open up, along the way there are cafes, stalls with honey. Along the lake itself - again, a cafe (prices are 1.5-2 times higher than in Pitsunda). We rode catamarans. Helicopter tours over the lake are available for those who wish.

Kyndyg village (hot springs) - there are springs with mineral water for drinking and taking health baths. Cosmetic procedures with therapeutic mud are offered. A visit to the complex is an average of 1500 rubles. from one tourist. .

"White rocks" (Tsandripsh) - rocky formations of snow-white color. Tourists love to visit the attraction because of beautiful views opening to the sea. Excursion option for a relaxing holiday.

People

The vast majority of tourists are Russians. The locals are fluent in Russian. There are also many Russians from the service staff.

Visitors are treated with respect. Ethnic conflicts were not noticed. They are actively interested in where the guests came from (in parallel, offering excursions, accommodation, wine, etc.). Because at the resort, most families rest, there are practically no drunks.

About poisoning, treatment

The public catering system (cafe) does not inspire confidence for the most part. There were no poisonings, but it is worth having medicines with you just in case. The child developed a rash on the 4th day of rest. Suspicions of feijoa compote (although the doctor denies such a possibility) - nothing else was offered from unfamiliar products. Tap water has no bad smell(which is not uncommon in seaside resorts). There are few pharmacies, but they exist (one in the Cypress Alley area, the second - not far from the Embankment).

In Pitsunda, the situation with sewage is much better than in many other resorts. That is why the sea is cleaner here, and it is more difficult to get infected with E. coli from sea water. In this regard, Pitsunda is much more favorable for recreation than Gagra, where such a problem is acute in the high season.

  1. Do not book accommodation in advance through the Internet with prepayment.
  2. Bank cards in Abkhazia can not be used everywhere.
  3. There are a lot of speed limit signs on the roads, a lot of traffic police officers.
  4. Wine on tap is heavily diluted.
  5. The locals are friendly, but you should not go into conflict with them.
  6. The driving style of the locals is sharp, often dangerous.
  7. Buy unpeeled hazelnuts - the price is much lower than in Russia. The composition of spices (in the original packaging) does not correspond to the declared ingredients.
  8. Pay attention to the manufacturer of wines, champagne: there is "Abkhazian Champagne" made in Ukraine.

Pros and cons of rest in Pitsunda

Among the most important advantages of Pitsunda, it is worth highlighting:

  • proximity to the state border with Russia (according to the navigator - 47 km, to Sukhum - more than 100 km);
  • free circulation of the ruble;
  • crystal clear sea;
  • the presence of both rocky beaches and sandy ones (in the immediate vicinity of the resort, the Rybzavod area);
  • wide coastline;
  • relic pines descending to the coastline;
  • convenient location of the resort for visiting Lake Ritsa - the main of the main attractions of the republic.

There are much fewer tourists in Pitsunda than, for example, in Gagra or Sukhum. There are no problems with sewerage here (as in Gagra). These factors largely determined our choice in favor of a holiday in Pitsunda with a small child.

Among the inconveniences or features of the resort can be safely attributed:

  • low level of service in public catering establishments (very often there are summer cafes where the menu is written by hand, furniture, dishes are old);
  • cows (they can be found anywhere, animals lie freely on the roadway, walk in the yards of residential buildings);
  • a rather limited choice of national dishes, the specific taste of many of them;
  • local driving habits (many questions regarding the validity of insurance in the republic, legal regulation of road conflicts);
  • frequent power outages (and without a working air conditioner in the room it is difficult).

If you have not yet chosen where you will live and want to save money when booking, we recommend using the RoomGuru service. Firstly, there are hotels, apartments and guest houses from many different booking systems, and you will not miss a worthwhile option. Secondly, you can immediately compare prices for one place in different services and book where it is cheaper (not always this is Booking!).

The small town of Pitsunda, located on the cape of the same name on the coast of Abkhazia, attracts tourists, first of all, with its unique nature. There are few historical buildings here, but nowhere else you will find such a mixture of sea and mountain air, seasoned with the aromas of endemic plants.

There is where to go in the city itself and go to its surroundings in your free time from a beach holiday. To make it easier for you to navigate, we have prepared detailed list interesting in Pitsunda and around it.

Attractions marked on the map of the city:

Attractions in the city

Central beach of Pitsunda

The resorts of Abkhazia and, in particular, Pitsunda, are known to Russians thanks to the health resorts and sanatoriums built here back in Soviet times. Now there are so many hotels and holiday homes here, but Pitsunda has not lost its glory as a picturesque seaside resort.

The city beach stretches along the entire coast of Cape Pitsunda, and in different parts the cape looks different. The central part is crowded and noisy, here tourists are offered a lot of entertainment, and the beach itself is covered with pebbles. If you go further west or east, you can find more secluded stretches of sandy beach.

The water in Pitsunda Bay is warm and pleasant throughout the tourist season. Here, the full-flowing mountain river Bzyb flows into the Black Sea, which makes the water on the coast incredibly transparent: the bottom is clearly visible even at a depth of 3 meters. An interesting feature bay is also that no algae grow on the bottom.

Embankment street Pitsunda

As in every seaside town, Pitsunda has a promenade. This is a wide (40 m) street that stretches for 5 km along the coast of Pitsunda Bay. At the end of it, at the crossroads with Gitsba Street, the famous sculpture "Divers". This is a three-meter composition consisting of several arches, on which figures of diving people and marine animals are fixed.

There are many entertainments for city guests on the embankment: rides, competitions, cinema. You can take a picture with a monkey or a parrot. Throughout the tourist season, bands performing Abkhazian national music perform on the street.
The Pitsunda embankment is especially beautiful in the evening and at night, in the warm light of lanterns.

The address: st. Gitsba, 5

This lighthouse was installed at the beginning of the 20th century and after many years illuminated the path for ships entering the Pitsunda Bay. Many years later from wet sea air the hull of the lighthouse began to rust and had to be reinforced with props.

It is located on the western end of the Pitsunda embankment among the buildings of the Mayak boarding house. A modern spotlight is now installed on one of the buildings, and the old tower continues to attract tourists and show off on postcards depicting the city.

The address: Gitsba street
Telephone:
Working mode: every day from 10:00 to 19:00.
Price: 50 rubles (photo and video shooting is allowed).

This cathedral is located on the territory of the ancient village of Pitiunt. It was founded in the 10th century of brick and stone, has a cross-domed structure and is not at all like the Orthodox churches we are used to.

The cathedral has a rich history. Starting from the 10th century, the Abkhazian catholic department was located here, which appointed catholicoses and bishops. In the 17th century, there was a threat of an attack on Pitsunda by the Turks, in connection with which it was decided to move the pulpit, and the temple was abandoned. In 1975, an 11-meter German organ was moved here, and since that time organ music concerts have been held in the concert hall of the cathedral.

During its existence, the Patriarchal Cathedral has undergone many restorations, due to which many frescoes and other details of the interior decoration have been lost. Now the frescoes on the dome and in the altar, as well as the tomb with two tombs: the apostles Andrew the First-Called and Simon the Zealot, have been preserved.

Organ music concerts are held regularly in the cathedral. The schedule is posted on the stand at the entrance. The International Classical Music Festival in Pitsunda is held annually from 9 to 11 September.

Historical and architectural reserve "Great Pitiunt"

The address: Gibtsa street, 2.
Telephone: +7 (84023)49-29, +7 (84023)75-49.
Working mode: every day from 10:00 to 19:00.
Price: 50 rubles (photo and video shooting is allowed except for the chapel).

"Great Pitiunt" is ancient city influenced by many civilizations. At first, the ancient Greeks founded the city of Pitiunt on this site. Then, in the 2nd century, the Romans came here and built a fortress here, which later, together with the city of Sebastopolis (modern Sukhum), formed a powerful outpost of the Byzantine Empire. Later, Pitiunt became part of the Abkhazian kingdom, and then Georgia. And each of the cultures left its imprint here.

Now the Great Pitiunt complex, open to tourists, is an ancient city protected by a powerful one and a half meter stone wall. Inside you can see the barracks, the commander's palace, Roman baths, wells, as well as the most beautiful ancient Christian temple with masterfully made floor mosaics.

On the territory of the reserve there is a museum of the history of Pitsunda, which acquaints visitors with the rich history of this region. It contains elements of the Cathedral of St. Andrew the First-Called, transferred here during the reconstruction.

Pitsunda pine grove

The relic Pitsunda pine is an endemic of the region. This ancient long-coniferous tree, listed in the Red Book of Russia, existed at the end of the Tertiary period, which means that the Pitsunda pine grew in these places 2 million years ago.

This tree has surprisingly long needles: 12-18 cm. It abundantly produces resin, which, heated under the sun, releases phytoncides. They make the air of Pitsunda so healing.

The grove stretches along Cape Pitsunda along the coast for 7 km and has an area of more than 200 hectares. All pines are numbered and carefully guarded. Some trees in the grove are over 200 years old, and the long-lived patriarch has been growing on the Black Sea coast for more than 500 years.

A short video about Pitsunda and its pines:

Neighborhood of Pitsunda

Microdistrict "Rybzavod"

The address: Gagra district, Lidzava settlement (Ldzaa)
How to get there by car: along the Lidzavskoe highway northeast of Pitsunda
By public transport: buses and fixed-route taxis run regularly to Lidzawa. The fare on the bus is 8 rubles, on a fixed-route taxi - about 20 rubles.

To fully enjoy the leisurely atmosphere of the Abkhazian coast, visit the Rybzavod microdistrict in the village of Lidzava, not far from Pitsunda. The fish factory itself has long been closed, only the name remains of it.

The famous Pitsunda pine grows everywhere here, the smell of which envelops the entire eastern coast of the cape. This fragrance, combined with mountain air and the smell of the sea, has a healing effect and is beneficial for people with a disease of the respiratory system.

Rest in the "Rybzavod" involves accommodation in the private sector, where you can meet walking livestock on the streets, and inexpensively buy homemade products from local residents.

How to get there: public transport does not go to Ritsa, you can get to the lake by sightseeing bus as part of an organized excursion or by your own car. A road leads to the lake, departing from the M-27 highway. If you move from Sukhum, then you need to get to the bridge over the Bzyb and after it drive 1 km. If you drive from Gagra, then the guideline will be the traffic police post, after which you also need to drive only 1 km.

The most beautiful mountain lake Ritsa is located to the north of Pitsunda at an altitude of 1000 meters above sea level. The lake is relatively young: it was formed after a mountain collapse about 250 years ago. The water in it is icy even in summer, but even this does not stop tourists who want to take a dip.

Around Lake Ritsa there is a developed infrastructure, they offer a lot of entertainment:

  • suspension rope bridge across the river Bzyb
  • horse riding
  • ethnic camp of shepherds
  • paintball
  • archery
  • cafe with national cuisine and souvenir shops

The Ritsa Relic National Park and the Ritsa State Reserve are located near the lake. On the banks of the Ritsa is one of I. V. Stalin's dachas, and next to country house N. S. Khrushcheva.

Pitsunda is famous for its beaches, and this is not surprising: the water here, according to environmentalists, is extremely clean and warm.

This section of the Black Sea is a bay hidden from strong winds and storms, as a result - a quiet, windless place, cozy beaches. In short, a paradise for tourists.

Remarkably, Pitsunda is still a little-explored corner by tourists. Therefore, the prices here are quite reasonable, low. And every tourist is worth its weight in gold, so the service is very worthy.

The beaches of Pitsunda are distinguished not only by their cleanliness, but also by their unusual air: a pine forest rises right to the borders of the beaches, so you just want to get more air into your lungs. Moreover, the beaches cannot be called very crowded - which is also a definite plus.

What kind of beaches await guests, let's figure it out in more detail.

Central Beach

How to get there

This beach stretches along the tourist complex "Resort Pitsunda". The complex can be called one of the largest in the city, so focusing on it, it is easy to find the Central Beach.
