Xiaomi air purifier 2 app. Removes all unnecessary, leaving only the gases necessary for breathing

There is a fierce debate about the benefits of air purifiers. Some say that they are completely useless, and even harmful. How really?

Why is he needed at all?

The air purifier appeared in the house on the recommendation of the attending physician. According to an allergist at a local clinic, the device will reduce reactions by eliminating household allergens as much as possible. Why Xiaomi? The cost of Air Purifier 2 was comparable to inexpensive offline purifiers.

At that time, many gadgets of the Chinese brand firmly settled in the apartment, and the acquisition of another ecosystem accessory seemed logical.

Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 2- the second modification of the cleaner, designed for deliveries to other regions. The updated device is devoid of the shortcomings of the first version. The dimensions have decreased, the efficiency has increased and, more importantly, the results of the device's operation now meet international requirements.

Now the device is designed to clean rooms up to 330 cubic meters in volume, or up to 46 square meters by area.

Functionality and operation of the cleaner. What is the point

The design is simple. There are two fans on the top for blowing out, under them there is a triple filter. The air is sucked in through the holes in the housing, is cleaned and pulled out by the impeller.

At minimum power fan volume less than the noise level outside the window(including double-glazed windows). But at the maximum, Mi Purifier makes sounds comparable to a kitchen hood, a powerful vacuum cleaner or an idle power tool.

Only two buttons are used for control. One of them, for connecting to Wi-Fi, is located on the rear panel.

The multifunctional mode change button is located next to the fans. One short press is responsible for turning on, scrolling along the rim - for changing operating modes. Three sets of presets are available: Auto, "Night" and "Custom".

In the first mode, the purifier independently determines the level of pollution using temperature, humidity and air quality sensors (according to subjective observations, quite successfully). When the second mode is activated, Mi Purifier reduces the number of revolutions (and, accordingly, the noise level) to a minimum.

"Custom" by default runs the fans on average speed. A long press of the button turns off the purifier.

There are three operating mode indicators on the front panel, and an indoor air quality indicator is located almost at the floor. If the air in the room is clean, the indicators light green. Red means heavily polluted air. Yellow - intermediate level of pollution.

The large replaceable filter combines air passes through HEPA and activated charcoal. Over time, it becomes dirty and loses its properties, so the maximum operating time is 150 days of work.

The block is inserted into slots without latches. There is only one filter element in the kit, so you should think about purchasing an additional one.

The cleaner is controlled by "smart" electronics. The control unit ensures that the filter does not stagnate.

It turns out that the resource is defined programmatic way, and therefore a working filter can be written off in the scrap. This is “planned obsolescence” in action.

On the other hand, such a surface is an ideal breeding ground for some fungi. Perhaps the manufacturer is not in vain pushing to purchase a new replacement unit in this way.

The gadget requires a connection to Wi-Fi the first time you turn it on, for which you need to press the button on the back of the device. To integrate the purifier into the Xiaomi home ecosystem, you need a smartphone and installed application mi home.

Using the application, you can configure the following parameters: fan speed in each of the operating modes; child protection (disabling hardware buttons); firmware update; automatic on/off timer; light and sound indication.

Also in MiHome you can find information about the quality of the air outside the window and view detailed performance statistics. There is data on the temperature and humidity in the room, as well as the period until the next filter change.

A lot has been written about the functioning of the unit as part of a smart home system. Unfortunately, official version required for its operation MiHome from Google Play not designed to work in Russia. Therefore, some of the functionality is left out.

MiHome is currently launching on English language and does not cause such rejection as six months ago. But problems with connecting devices persisted. And it also has not learned to determine the quality of air in our latitudes.

Air purification quality testing

Officially, the device is able to purify the air from small particles hazardous to health of categories PM0.3 (up to 99.5% of those scattered in the room will fall into filters), PM2.5 (99.7%) formaldehyde (91%), large particles hazardous to health - up to 100%.

The test was carried out using a “smoke generator” (2 people, one large hookah for two pipes, an hour of hard “labor” and tightly closed windows) in a room with an area of 12 square meters and a total volume of 30 cubic meters.

During testing of Mi Air Purifier 2, the general hood was blocked, and the Auto mode was set on the device. After that, a similar study was carried out during the operation of the common house air conditioning system.

The smoke level was calibrated using the Mi Air Purifier 2 dust sensor via the MiHome app. 500 units were taken as the initial value. When using the purifier, it took 20 minutes to reach 50 units. Half an hour later, the test came to an end with a score of 30 units, corresponding to clean air.

To reduce smoke home system ventilation took two hours. Purely for performance comparison.

Subjective efficiency

At the household level, the work of Mi Air Purifier 2 is visible to the naked eye. It suggests several use cases. Main - as permanent air purifier. Secondary - instead of a household hood. The difference in air quality in the first scenario can be seen after a few weeks.

An allergic person can breathe air from a smoky room after 10 minutes of running the air purifier at maximum power. Or half an hour later, if the room is smoky with cigarette smoke.

Common kitchen odors, steam and smoke generated during cooking disappear in minutes.

It is possible to preserve particularly persistent odors. Particles from the filter can return to the air, be sucked back into the purifier, and so on several times in a row. Affects the absence supply ventilation in the aggregate. But for small enclosed spaces equipped with ventilation (rooms of a house or apartment), the results are very good.

Based on the data of one well-known resource in Runet, many air purifiers big brands(For example, Tefal) are inferior to Xiaomi in performance and quality.

But this is on paper. Everything is easier in life. With the advent of the purifier allergic reactions disappeared, although outside the window all summer there is a flowering field, and 100 meters from it there is a busy highway. In the bedroom there was a feeling of fresh, renewing air, it became not so stuffy. Sleep became stronger, calmer.

You choose the water you drink, but do you choose the air you breathe? The air you breathe depends entirely on the environment you live in. So, if your city is polluted, then the air in the house is not very good. good quality. What do you do in such a case? Using an air purifier is your only option.

There are many air purifiers on the market, but when you see the price of them, the desire to buy disappears. In the midst of the crisis, Xiaomi brought its successful air purifier to Russia - Mi Air Purifier 2. The device is quite cheap but performs on par with most top brands which are 2-3-4 times more expensive. How is this possible? Don't forget, this is Xiaomi.

The Mi Air Purifier is one of the first products in the Xiaomi smart home appliance family. The device is a second generation version and has a significant improvement over the older variant.

Hello!

A few months ago I bought an air purifier, as construction is underway under the window and a layer of dust constantly appears on all horizontal surfaces of the house (and often black and gray, apparently concrete or building mixtures scatter ...). Plus, the neighbors sometimes smoke and the smell of smoke is drawn into the house through the windows. I read reviews on the Internet and decided to choose Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 2. It is not difficult to find a replacement filter for it, and the design, in my opinion, looks good.

I ordered it on GearBest, but then I looked, it was not necessary to order from China, it was possible to find it in Russian online stores for about the same price. The parcel arrived by courier in about two weeks.

Since the purchase was already made 4 months ago and at that time I was not going to write a review, I did not have any photos of the packaging.

Characteristics:
Air cleaning capacity (CADR) ................310 m3/h
Air purity control… yes
Filters… pre-cleaner, HEPA filter
HEPA filter class… H11

Instruction (Chinese)

Appearance
The cleaner is not small, it has dimensions: 520x240x240mm (HxWxD).
On the front panel there are indicators of the operation of the device, a lot of holes for air intake (they are around the entire perimeter of the device).

At the back there is a hatch for replacing the filter element, a dust sensor window and a button for resetting the filter life counter / changing the brightness of the indicators.

On top of the clean air outlet, behind which is a dual fan and an on/off button.

There is nothing interesting below, except for a sticker with characteristics and rubber “feet” so that the device does not scratch furniture.

The power connector is a regular "laptop" connector, located at the bottom of the device:

The wire came with a Chinese plug and was immediately adapted with a plug from the nearest hardware store:

Control
The device is controlled using the button on the top side:

A long press turns the device on/off, a short press cycles through the operating mode.
There is also a Wi-Fi indicator next to the button (blinks when there is no connection and lights up when connected to the network).

Three LEDs on the top of the device are responsible for indicating the operating mode:

There are three operating modes: automatic (auto), night (sleep) and "favorites" (favorites).
In automatic mode, the purifier itself regulates the fan speed depending on the purity of the air, in the night mode it is always at the minimum speed, and in the “selected” mode, the fan speed can be set independently from the application.

There is a button on the back with which you can adjust the brightness of the purifier indicators:

There are three brightness modes: bright, muted and off (in it, when you press the button, the device lights the LEDs in dim mode for a few seconds). I photographed the bright and subdued mode with the same camera settings (I tried to make it noticeable):

Although the difference seems to be more significant. By the way, the indicator at the bottom of the device shows the air quality, it lights up green if the air is clean, orange if there is slight pollution and red if everything is really bad ... Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), I could not see the orange or red glow of the indicator, not looking at the construction site next door.

Appendix
As with other Xiaomi products, most of the functionality is only available through the MiHome app.
When you first turned on and launched MiHome, the device itself was found and installed, this is how it looks on the main screen:

The widget provides information on the number of PM2.5 particles, as well as temperature and humidity in the room, filter life and the amount of purified air:

Below there are buttons for on / off and select the operating mode. By pressing and holding the "favorites" button, you can set
fan speed in "selected" mode:

Productivity varies accordingly from 1-4 m2 to 42-45 m2.

Also, in the settings, you can schedule the device to turn on / off, set up automation, parental control and much more:

Service
The manufacturer recommends changing the filter every 180 days; for this, there is a special hatch in the back of the device:

There is a replacement instruction on the manhole cover (in Chinese).

Extracted filter:

The filter collected dust, but not as much as we would expect in 4 months of operation.

Photos in the interior:
Despite its small size, the cleaner fits well on the coffee table near the sofa.

Usage impressions
The main criteria for buying a purifier were a laconic design and the availability of replaceable filters, in principle, this purifier fully satisfies them. However, I expected more from him. The first month I used it in automatic mode, it did not create noise in it, but there was no noticeable effect either. Now the purifier is operating in the “selected” mode (9-12 m2), while the noise level remains at an acceptable level, but it blows much stronger than in auto mode. At night, a transition to quiet mode (from 0:00 to 7:00) and back is programmed. To my regret, the dust has not significantly decreased. Perhaps this is due to the wrong location. Or you need to increase the fan speed (but then it starts to make a lot of noise) ... But unpleasant odors the purifier removes perfectly (and attracts the attention of incoming guests). :)

Bottom line: the cleaner removes all odors very well, but I did not notice a significant reduction in dust. I think that this may be due to the fact that it must be placed on the floor, but I have it on a coffee table by the window (for now, there is simply no way to put it on the floor, there will be a place, I will definitely put it on and write the sensations).

Thank you all for your attention!
