This version is considered a classic. The base of the floor lamp is strong, usually round, the leg is straight or bends in the right direction. The device has a ceiling lamp, a lampshade with a light bulb.

Floor lamps with a different number of lamps

A lighting fixture with two bulbs creates a brighter glow. Usually it has on and off controls that allow you to use both bulbs at once or only one. If the device has three or more lamps, they are placed at the same level or at different heights.

Devices that give diffused light are most in demand. Such a glow does not strain the eyes, soft, relaxing, and sets up a pleasant atmosphere. To get diffused light, the lampshade must be made of a translucent material.

Directional light from an opaque shade

Plafonds made of dense plastic, glass, other material, almost do not let light through, because it goes out in a directed stream. Rattan. Such lamps look unusual and expensive, they can have a rectangular, cylindrical shape, natural shade.
PVC. Oddly enough, even water pipes go to the manufacture of floor lamps. You can make them with your own hands and decorate the living room in a loft style.

Shade

Plafonds and lampshades are immediately noticeable, because their harmony with other interior details should be given enough attention. Glass shades are widely used in all types of interior design - from classic to modern. Inexpensive floor lamps are made of ceramic or ordinary glass - transparent, frosted, mirror. Retro (vintage). The forms of such lamps are elegant, the main materials are glass, wood, the frame is made of artificially aged metal.
Oriental. Bright details, an abundance of color finishes, glitter, gilding - that's distinctive features of this style.

When buying a floor lamp, you need to take into account the dimensions of the room and the height of the ceiling. You should not buy a huge floor lamp if the ceilings are standard (2.5 m). In a small room, a compact lighting device without fanciful forms is more appropriate. A device on a thin leg will help to visually stretch the room.

Have a floor lamp in any convenient place. Usually in the living room this is the area near the armchair, sofa, in the bedroom - next to the bed, in the corner.
