There are two popular attractions in Kolomenskoye, these are magical wishing stones. They are located near the Church of the Beheading of John the Baptist, in the Voice ravine, in a mysterious and even anomalous place. These blocks of quartz sandstone were left after the melting of a huge glacier. The weight of each stone is about five tons, and only their upper parts are on the surface of the earth. Since pagan times, the Golosovo ravine was considered a sacred place, the inhabitants worshiped stones and performed rituals here. It is believed that earlier the ravine was called Volosov by the name of the pagan god Volos.

Scientists decided to reveal the secret of the miracles taking place here. They determined that very strong radiation emanates from the surface of the blocks and everyone who touches them is in the zone of an electromagnetic field. In 1621, Tatar cavalry suddenly appeared in Kolomenskoye near the royal palace. “Suddenly” - because Tatars have not been seen in these places since 1571, since the repulsed attack of the Tatar Khan Devlet Giray. The detachment was seized and Tsar Mikhail Fedorovich ordered an inquiry. During interrogation, the Tatars admitted that, fleeing from the persecution of the Russian army, they descended into the Golosov ravine. In 1810, two peasants, Arkhip Kuzmin and Ivan Bochkarev, were returning home from the village of Dyakovo late in the evening, to the village of Sadovniki. The road passed through the Golosov ravine, at the bottom of which they saw an unusually thick fog. After passing through the fog, the men continued on their way. Mysterious stones in Kolomenskoye

In the ravine there are two large stones weighing several tons each - the Horse-stone and the Devi stone.

According to legend, these boulders were formed as a result of the battle between George the Victorious and the Serpent. The serpent tore the belly of the horse, the insides fell out and turned to stone - this is how the Maiden stone was formed, and the head of the horse became the Horse-stone.

These petrified remains of a horse have been revered since pagan times - it was believed that spirits live in them. Rites were held here, deities were worshiped and sacrifices were made.

And today it is believed that they have great power. Horse-stone heals men's, and Maiden's stone - women's diseases, and, in addition, they fulfill wishes and bring happiness, you just need to touch and tie a ribbon on a neighboring bush. On the surface of the girl's boulder, you can see the outlines of the Madonna with the baby in her arms. In the upper part of the boulder there is a small recess, water accumulates in it. The earth from under the stone is also used to treat diseases by applying it to the body.

    And in the tracks of horse hooves, the purest springs clogged. They flow in secluded corners of the ravine. Washing with cold water can restore vision, and the internal organs will become healthy if you drink the liquid. There is a legend about the healing of infertility in one of the wives of Ivan the Terrible. Since then, other girls have been praying at the female stone and the spring located next to it.

    The ravine, stretching from west to east, conditionally divides Kolomenskoye into two almost equal parts. One of them is civilized. Museums, souvenir kiosks, numerous cafes and the famous observation deck are concentrated here. The other part of the reserve is "wild". These are hills overgrown with grass, small groves and an old orchard with large boulders, reminiscent of the symbols of ancient pagan religions.

    A small stream flows along the bottom of the ravine, formed by springs, of which there are a great many. Tradition says that these springs are the footprints of the horse of Asura himself (George the Victorious), who once galloped here with the news of his victory over the serpent. The water in the stream is very cold. They say that its temperature is the same all year round - plus 4 degrees, which gives it the properties of the greatest density and life-giving force. In winter, the stream does not freeze even in severe frosts, for which no one has yet given an explanation.

    However, another version seems more convincing .. Historians believe that the ravine was originally called "Volosov" or "Velesov". It is no coincidence that archaeologists have found in the vicinity of Kolomenskoye numerous traces of ancient settlements that existed here back in time.

    This version is indirectly confirmed by modern studies of geologists. Moscow, as you know, stands on the so-called Russian Platform, a very solid geological formation. However, each platform has its faults.

    One of the largest just passes under the Voice ravine. Traces of ancient volcanic activity have even been found here. So these places can rightfully be considered "gates to the underworld."

    Lost Cavalry

    Since ancient times, this ravine has been shrouded in a veil of mystery. There was always something inexplicable going on here. So, in the annals of the 17th century, an amazing story is described. In 1621, a small detachment of Tatar horsemen unexpectedly appeared at the gates of the royal palace in Kolomenskoye. They were surrounded by archers guarding the gates and immediately taken prisoner. The riders said that they were the soldiers of Khan Devlet Giray, whose troops tried to capture Moscow in 1571, but were defeated. Hoping to get away from persecution, the cavalry descended into the Golosov ravine, shrouded in thick fog.

    The Tatars spent there, as it seemed to them, a few minutes, and surfaced only after 50 years. One of the prisoners said that the fog was unusual, reflecting a greenish color, but in fear of the chase, no one paid attention to this. Tsar Mikhail Fedorovich ordered an inquiry, which showed that the Tatars were most likely telling the truth. Even their weapons and equipment no longer corresponded to the weapons of that time, but looked more like outdated samples of the middle of the 16th century.

    Mystical stories continued on and on. In the 19th century, the documents of the Police Department of the Moscow Governorate noted numerous cases of mysterious disappearances of residents of neighboring villages. One of these incidents was described in July 1832 in the Moskovskie Vedomosti newspaper. Two peasants, Arkhip Kuzmin and Ivan Bochkarev, returning home at night from a neighboring village, decided to shorten the road and go through the Voice ravine. A thick fog swirled at the bottom of the valley, in which some kind of “corridor filled with pale light” suddenly appeared. The peasants entered it and met people overgrown with hair, who tried to show them the way back with signs. A few minutes later, the peasants emerged from the fog and continued on their way. When they came to their native village, it turned out that two decades had already passed. Wives and children, 20 years older, hardly recognized them. The police intervened. At the insistence of the investigators, an experiment was conducted in the ravine, during which one of the time travelers again disappeared into the fog and did not return back.

    For centuries, in the vicinity of the Golosov ravine, shaggy people of enormous growth were periodically seen. Such cases are described not only in ancient chronicles, but also in the Soviet press. So, in 1926, a local policeman stumbled in a dense fog on a "savage overgrown with hair" more than two meters tall. The law enforcement officer pulled out a pistol, but the mysterious creature instantly disappeared into the fog. Local schoolchildren joined in the search for an unusual guest. However, traces of his presence could not be found. But on the pages of one of the capital's newspapers appeared an article by journalist A. Ryazantsev "Pioneers catch Leshy."

    Long gone are the days when Golosov Ravine was a deserted and gloomy place on the outskirts of Moscow. Today, especially on weekends, life is seething here. People walk along the path along the stream. Builders are reinforcing with retaining walls sections of the southern slope, which has recently begun to noticeably collapse. Many visitors come to the famous stones. For those of them who are familiar with numerous local legends, the atmosphere of the ravine may well seem mysterious even today. In the shade of huge trees, like a century ago, a scalding cold spring flows. In the thickets of grass and bushes, fog still gathers in the evenings.

    However, he seems to have lost his magical power. At least, no new cases of ghosts, goblin or lost Tatar cavalry appearing here today have been noted.

    Well, I promised to tell about him - and so, I keep my promise. This place is not easy, anomalous: worlds converge here and time disappears, some people disappear here, and others suddenly appear - from completely different eras. Once a mystical story happened there and with me: no, I did not disappear anywhere, but I followed the man, and he, having disappeared from view for a moment, disappeared to no one knows where.

    Despite this, when I lived near Kolomenskoye Park, Golosov ravine (correctly called Volosov or Velesov) served as a frequent place for my walks.     The first thing that caught my eye was that the ravine was lined with new stairs, benches and bridges. As a result, magic in these places has become much less.

    It would seem that we should have been upset that the paths here were uncleaned from snow and dampness, but I was only delighted: the less human intervention in the affairs of nature, the more its strength is preserved. People have already tried to research it, and...
    Scientists from the Institute of General Physics in 1995-96 carried out measurements of electromagnetic fields in the ravine. It turned out that the electromagnetic radiation in the ravine is more than 12 times higher than the norm, and for the mysterious stones this excess is 27 times. So, the fault, located under the ravine, is a source of powerful radiation, which at the same time, as it were, cuts through the natural magnetic field of the Earth.
    During the work of scientists, the ravine confirmed its notoriety. One of the researchers who took measurements of electromagnetic fields was suddenly lifted by some unknown force to a height of about 2.5 meters, then he was thrown onto the slope of a ravine. Fortunately, the victim escaped with only a fright, but the magnetometer was completely out of order.

    The banks of the ravine were also strengthened in places with such a palisade: apparently, there were landslides, and this was a necessary measure.
