Plastic entrance doors for a private house

An integral element of any cottage is the front door. It completes the architectural style of the building and complements the overall appearance of the facade. Recently, plastic entrance doors have been used in private houses. Previously, such structures were used only in public buildings and office buildings, today plastic products are mounted even in wooden cottages and houses.

Plastic products are more durable than wooden structures. All parts of the door can be easily replaced with new ones in case of breakage or wear. In addition, plastic products are unpretentious in care.

Pros and cons of plastic doors

Plastic products have gained their popularity due to the huge variety of designs and colors. Production from synthetic materials allows you to create products of complex contours that are problematic to make from wood. In addition, these models have the following advantages:

Another advantage of plastic models is versatility. The neutral design allows the door to fit into any space, whether it be a living space, an office or an outdoor extension.

Note! For greater security of a residential building, plastic doors are equipped with anti-burglary fittings. Plates of closed section are mounted on the sashes. Often, crossbars and other anti-vandal devices are installed in the canvas.

What are plastic doors made from?

The basis for the entrance and interior doors made of plastic is a metal profile. It determines the rigidity and strength of the door. Therefore, when buying a canvas, it is better not to save money; in models of the middle and higher price categories, as a rule, more durable metal alloys are used. The design is equipped with special stiffeners and has air chambers.

For the production of profiles, not only metal is used, but also reinforcement. Mortgage fasteners are used as connections for parts. Most of the models are complemented by closers and reinforced hinges. An obligatory part of the structures is constipation, due to which the door fits snugly against the opening. In addition, the door frame includes:

  • profile frame reinforced with stiffeners;
  • laying of heat-insulating materials;
  • canvases made of armored glass;
  • fittings (locks, crossbars and hinges);
  • sill from a metal plate.

There are hinged, folding and sliding types of doors. All designs are compatible with houses made of wood, brick and all kinds of blocks.

Note! The price of plastic doors is made up of the brand, design and quality of the parts. If the model is equipped with thick double-glazed windows, the cost for it will be higher.

Structural stiffeners are located both horizontally and vertically. The double design provides better blade protection. The voids of the door are filled with insulation and heat-insulating materials.

Door design features

Entrance plastic doors can be decorated with glass. Ordinary, deaf models are a little cheaper (a photo of a similar design is shown below).

In the production of deaf products, sandwich technology is used. The structures consist of layers of different materials, including insulation and stiffeners. For models with decorative stakes, combined filling is used. The decorative insert is located only on the upper half of the door, the lower one consists of a blank canvas. As panels for decoration, different types of glass are used (stained glass, frosted or transparent).

Doors can have one or two wings. There are also designs with a transom (see the photo for an example of the product).

Locking mechanisms are installed under different types of handles. On many models, closers and other fittings are installed.

Design Features

Most often, products with decorative glass inserts are used as the front door for a private house or cottage. Despite the glass panel, the models have high sound insulation and perfectly protect the house from rain and cold. Doors with inserts look organically on facades made of wood, brick or stone.
