How to install furniture hinges: range of parts and methods

Modern furniture production and design of finished products involves the use of a variety of mounting hardware, which not only affects the usability of various furniture items, but also ensures their functionality. Fastening accessories include various types of hinges that are used for the positioning and operation of various doors that play the role of a facade of a furniture product.

Currently, various types of hinges are used in the manufacture of furniture, differing in design, purpose and functionality. They are made of various materials and usually have a protective and decorative coating.

Four-hinged hinges

The most widespread in the production of case products, intended for the arrangement of any residential and amenity premises, have found four-hinged hinged structures, the advantages of which are:

  • high strength of individual elements, ensuring the reliability of the product as a whole;
  • a large number of operation cycles, ensuring the operation of the product during the entire service life;
  • the possibility of adjusting the door leaf in three planes.

The design of the four-hinged hinge includes:

  • cup
  • shoulder;
  • installation site;
  • additional elements - an adjusting screw and a decorative flange.

As a rule, the cup is installed in a special recess milled in the door. In order to reduce the range of cutters (Fosner drills), most looped specimens have a cup with a diameter of 35.0 millimeters.

Cups of a smaller diameter (26.0 millimeters) have models designed for installation on door leaves that are small in weight and size, as well as on glass swing doors, such as, for example. The shoulder-lever is the body of the adjusting mechanism and is connected to the mounting platform fixed inside the furniture compartment, on its sidewall. Fastening of all elements of the hinge fittings is carried out with self-tapping screws or using a screw confirmation.

Varieties of loops

Four-hinged furniture hinges, depending on the pairing of the door leaf with the body of the product, are divided into:

  • overhead and semi-overhead;
  • corner;
  • special - gallery and inverse loops.

In the manufacture of most models of any type of cabinet furniture, the first three types of hinged structures are predominantly used.

According to the method of closing, this type of hinged fittings is divided into ordinary items and designs equipped with a door closer or gas lift, which significantly increase the convenience of using furniture.

On a note!

In models where the sash is “hidden” inside the body, flush with its facade, internal models are used, which practically do not differ functionally and structurally from conventional overhead samples.

Installation work begins with markup. The centers of future holes are marked with a pencil. Usually, the center of the blind hole for installing the cup is provided at a distance of 80.0 ... 130.0 millimeters from the top-bottom of the door panel. The total number of fittings is selected depending on the weight of the door leaf.

Most models of four-hinged fittings have a height (depth) of the cup equal to 12.0 ... 13.0 millimeters. With a Fosner drill, there are no problems with milling a blind hole. In furniture production, special end mills are often used with a limiter that does not allow milling a larger hole depth. If the work is being done for the first time, then before milling real holes, it is advisable to practice on an unnecessary piece of similar material.

On a note!

Before performing work, it is necessary to pay attention to the quality of tool sharpening. Any inaccuracies and sharpening defects can lead to chipped edges, milled holes.

For glass door panels, there are models that do not require drilling holes, where instead of a bowl, an overlay bar is used. With the independent manufacture of furniture, it is quite acceptable to install these specimens on facades made of or.

After drilling the recess, attaching the support bowl and the mounting platform to the details of the product (the door and the wall of the furniture compartment), the sash is hung on the furniture body. To do this, the mounting groove of the housing is wound under the screw of the striker, after which the latter is pre-tightened.

Adjustment

Fastening the hinge and hanging the door does not mean the end of the work. Four-hinged hinge models require adjustment, the correct implementation of which ensures a perfect fit of the door panel to the furniture body.

Moving the mounting groove of the lever in the support bar ensures that the door is installed in depth. The adjustment screw in the shoulder lever provides the desired fit. The displacement of the door relative to the furniture body in height is ensured by changing the position of the support bar, for which it has special grooves.
