How to install furniture hinges on the facade?

There are a lot of types of loops (inserted and overhead) that have different diameters of the landing cup (this is the part that cuts directly into the material). These cups can have diameters of 26mm, 35mm, 40mm. But the most common of them (which are most often used) are those that have a diameter of 35mm. It is about them that we will talk.

The loop cuts directly into the facade, and is attached (with an installation platform) to the side of the box, on which this facade should “hang”.

It cuts in very easily. To do this, you need to have the following list of tools:

· Roulette for marking

Electric drill (for making mounting holes)

Forstner drill, or, in the common people - a cutter for a 35mm cup

Screwdriver for screwing in self-tapping screws

From fasteners, self-tapping screws 4x16 mm (or something close to them) are needed.

So, first, the facade is marked in order to find the center of the future hole, from which a part of the material must be selected with a cutter (just enough so that the landing cup “sits down” into it). When marking, it should be taken into account that the loop is not at the same height as the shelf, or any fittings, because of which it will be impossible to install it (and as a result, the facade will be damaged). Therefore, it builds very carefully to indent from it to the edge of the facade.

Usually the center of the hole (35mm) is marked in such a way that there is a distance of 4-5 mm from the cup to the extreme edge of the facade (or, from the edge of the facade to the center of the hole - 22-23mm). When everything is marked out, a hole is drilled. This is the most crucial moment. The fact is that, as mentioned above, the hole must be of such a depth that the landing cup completely “sits down” in it. And if, when inserting a hole, you get carried away, you can “perforate” the facade through and through.

Then, loops are inserted into the holes made, and aligned with a bar (so that they do not move along the axis, otherwise they will wear out during operation). After that, holes are “pecked” through which the cups are fixed with self-tapping screws in the facade, and, in fact, after all this, they are fixed (with a screwdriver or an electric drill with an inserted bit holder and a bit for self-tapping screws).

Firms producing furniture fittings or selling them, such as McMart, MDM-Komplekt, Hettih or Boyard, have drawings of additives with dimensions on their websites. They are relevant for mounting fittings, furniture hinges, drawer guides, and for front fittings. This drawing of hinge additives was taken for Boyard hinges.
